Great experience with Sapa Original Trek. We booked the tour to go up Fransipan Mountain in one day return and we really enjoyed our experience. It was easy to book, very well explained beforehand. On the day we got picked up by a taxi and driven to the start of the trek. Our guide Cho was great! Super friendly, good english, happy to answer all our questions and very knowledgeable. He really adjusted to our pace and made sure we were happy. We had an amazing lunch at the basecamp, tasty and a huge portion. Once we reached the summit, Cho gave us the option to take the cable car or hike down. We decided to walk back down. He supported us all the way till the end. All in all great day and great experience. Can only recommend.
Great experience. Tough hike but worth it. Sapa original trecking were very easy to deal with and very organized. Very reasonable price too.
We had a fantastic time today on our hike with our guide Cho. He was a pleasure to spend time with and helped us navigate a hike. He said a good pace and made sure we were all doing well. I would strongly recommend this hike and this tour company.
Amazing The guide ( Mr. Cho) was 10/10, great English and amazing trekking partner. Contacting the team and arranging the hike was very easy. Pickup and drop off were great, to and from the hotel door. Hike itself very good, learnt a lot about the trek from the guide, who was there for any request and smiled the entire way.
If you are looking for a serious physical challenge, this excursion is for you. It is not for the faint of heart! I consider myself to be a physically fit person (regularly train for marathons, strength train at the gym), but I struggled with this one (although I did make it to the summit!). It really is best for someone who has some basic experience mountain hiking. Although you are trekking, not climbing, up the mountain, there are a lot of points where you are scaling rocks and boulders and need to use your hands as well as your feet to keep moving. If you do it in the summer like I did, be prepared to get wet. It rains most days on the mountain even if it’s sunny in Sapa, and so you will trek through a lot of water, and the rocks and boulders you scale will be very slippery. I wore trail runners, and the grip was good enough, so I would say trail runners at minimum for footwear. Hiking shoes or boots might be even better, especially if they are waterproof. Also, bring hiking poles — I regretted not having them. In the summer, there’s no view at the summit due to clouds and fog, but it’s still incredible to get there. Lastly, be aware that once you reach the Fansipan site, there still are hundreds of steps you have to climb to get to the summit. None of this is meant to turn anyone off to this excursion, but it’s helpful to know what you’re actually getting into. My guide, Chai, was absolutely amazing — he was patient and kind, never rushed me, and he made a tasty lunch (banh mi sandwich, fruit, veggies, coffee) for us which I greatly appreciated. I would be happy to have him again for any trek or tour in Sapa!
We had a great experience completing the hike! Our guide, Mr Chay, was fantastic as he was very knowledgeable of the walk and also patient. The hike is super challenging (we were not experienced hikers) being predominantly steep incline but it was so rewarding completing it. The views and scenery is exceptional and the environment is so surreal and peaceful. It may seem expensive ($70 USD pp) but when you factor in the time to complete (6+ hours), food, hike permits, insurances, pick up and drop off to hotel, and of course, the medal upon completion, it is a very worth while experience that I strongly recommend.
We happened to walk by Sapa Original Trek’s office in Sapa and went in to book our One Day Fansipan Trekking for the next day with Ms. Huong. We were lucky that they had last minute availability and we appreciate how accommodating they were. Pick up and drop off was smooth and on time. The climb was challenging—lots of steep inclines and descents, and you literally have to climb across ladders in some parts—but safe and fun. There’s also the altitude factor which may or may not affect some people, regardless of fitness level. We were fortunate with the weather as it was warm to cool in some parts and not rainy, which is perfect for hiking Fansipan. (Bring a hat and layers as it does get windy and coolish closer to the peak). Our guide, Tong (spelling?) was very knowledgeable, helpful and supportive, especially when my friend was experiencing nausea from the high altitude. One of the best things that he did was to make us bamboo walking sticks, which helped immensely during our hike. He also prepared us a generous lunch, carried one of our water bottles when it was too heavy for us, and took many beautiful pictures for my partner and I, and we didn’t even have to ask. Thank you Tong (apologies I don’t know the appropriate spelling of his name). We made it to the summit several hours later, and it was totally worth it!
We booked our one-day Fansipan trek very last minute, and really appreciated how accommodating the team was. They prepared all the necessary paperwork, picked us up from the hotel, and brought us back after the hike. First and foremost: when they say the trek is hard, they truly mean it. If you are anything less than fit and healthy, you will struggle. The constant ascents and descents, combined with the altitude and its unpredictable effects on the body, make this an extremely challenging experience. I consider myself quite fit and experienced with hiking, but after lunch there were moments when I felt quite nauseous because of the altitude. Big kudos to our guide, Trong. He was incredibly experienced and knowledgeable. He adjusted to our pace, stayed close behind me during the more difficult sections, and helped a lot when I was feeling nauseous. He also organised a very generous lunch, carried our water when my backpack became too heavy, and took a whole bunch of amazing photos for my partner and me. We made it to the summit and received our beautiful, well-earned medals and certificates. All in all, although it was extremely challenging, it was an unforgettable experience, and we’re very grateful to Sapa Original Trek for making it happen.
Our guide was excellent. It was a tough climb up but he was very patient with us and didn't push us to go quicker at any time, we took approx 6 hours including stopping for lunch. We decided to get the cable car down (only approx 10-15% of people have the energy to walk down as well, though the cable car costs approx $45 AUD per person so make sure you take a way to pay with you). Our guide spoke excellent English and we had chats throughout the day. Hotel pickup was smooth and the lunch (bahn mi or noodles) provided by our guide and eaten towards the top of the mountain was delicious and plentiful. Highly recommend but you must have a good level of fitness of tackle it, bearing in mind you climb from approx 2000m above sea level to over 3000m so the altitude can also effect your capacity. Highly recommend.

Sinh was an amazing guide. I really had a nice time on the mountain learning about its story and making my way to the top. The medal and certificate are a nice attention. The booking and organization went smoothly, Mr Tinh replies quick on whatsapp. For a day hike, you have to be prepared for a long and exhausting day on the mountain, but really worth it. I recommend this company to anyone.
This was definitely a massive highlight of visiting Sapa/Vietnam in general. The views were absolutely breathtaking. For a better experience it is worth having physical fitness/generally being active but our guide, Chay was very patient with our pace and never felt rushed.
The communication was excellent! I was arriving by sleeper bus that was a bit late and they did everything to make sure I was taken care of. My guide was amazing, told me about local plants, took photos, and let me enjoy the view. He was also a very capable mountain goat. :). Oh and the lunch provided…..insane proportions and delicious!!
All in all a great experience. We booked the One Day tour. Very well organized by Mr Tinh who did the communication and planning. Our guide was very friendly and attentive. He is from Sa Pa and knows the area very well. We were lucky and had sunshine and great views most of the day!
I enjoyed my trek a lot. This was my first mountain climbed and I had a great experience. Special thanks to the tour coordinator Mr Tinh, and my guide Mr Chay for keeping me safe on the trek. I had mentioned a few days prior to the trek that I just recovered from a flu and might be weaker on the day of the hike, and Mr Tinh requested Mr Chay take special care of me to make sure I was safe. As this was also my first time solo travelling, I requested to see some documents for insurance purposes as I wanted to play it safe, which Mr Tinh provided quickly. On the day of the hike, I had put on too many layers and had to keep stopping to remove them, and for exhaustion. Mr Chay was patient and waited with me. My bag was also quite heavy, so Mr Chay helped to carry the 1.5L water that was provided. Mr Chay and 2 other guides cooked lunch for myself and 3 other travellers, a nice hot bowl of instant noodles with chicken. This was much needed, as it gets really cold when you stop moving. We made it to the top a little behind schedule, and I had to take the cable car down instead as at that point I was already exhausted. We finished the hike at around 3-4pm and Mr Tinh met us again to drive me back to my hostel. Overall, a great experience doing this trek, I managed to cross something off my bucket list. If you are planning on doing this hike from ascent to descent, do not pack too many layers as they will just be a hindrance on the trail and add to the weight in your bag. It is possible for beginners to finish the whole trail in one day, but it may get dark on the way down, and descent is a little harder than ascent, so I opted not to do so. Cable car tickets can be purchased at the top for about 850 000 dong, so you can decide on the day of the hike once you've reached the peak whether or not you want to hike back down. Overall, I am happy Fansipan was my first mountain climbed, and I am happy to have done it with Sapa Original Trek.
Great hike! Spectacular view! Very patient guide if you are not so fit. The sandwich at lunch break gives you good new energy for the rest of the hike! Organisation was great and the communication perfect! At the summit you get a medal and you can feel very proud ❤️
Thanks for the patience and consistent communications that provided me with clear info, I was able to make my trek up to Fansipan despite having only a short 2 days into Sapa in between my biz trip.
Mr chay was very proffesional and nice. He took care of everything and gave good advice. The track itself was good but challanging
Our guide Chay was very punctual and patient with us while trying to make sure we kept a decent pace. The food for lunch was good and there was plenty of it. The trail is well maintained and safe. The views from the top and the temple itself are amazing! It’s mentioned in the description and I’ll reiterate in the title, but this is a VERY difficult hike endurance-wise. I like to think I’ve done a lot of hiking and this was still the hardest day hike I’ve ever done. If you are not an elite hiker and you have the time and still want to hike it, maybe consider the two day version. Taking the cable car down instead of hiking would be a great option too but it was closed while we were there unfortunately.
I recently joined a 2-day program with Sapa Original Trek — the Fansipan one-day trek and the long walking tour through Sapa’s rice terraces and ethnic villages — and it was absolutely fantastic. Tinh, who was incredibly responsive from the moment I contacted her, answered all my questions quickly, clearly, and with great patience. She really went the extra mile to create a special itinerary that matched exactly what I expected. On the ground, our guide Cho was exceptional. He knows so many trekking routes in Sapa and guided me safely and confidently to the Fansipan summit on a very challenging trek. His pacing, encouragement, and deep knowledge of the trail made a difficult climb both achievable and enjoyable. The next day, Cho also led me through the most beautiful parts of Muong Hoa Valley, walking from village to village across stunning rice terrace fields. He explained the cultures of the Hmong, Red Dzao, and Giay people in a friendly, authentic way. It truly felt like exploring the real Sapa, not a tourist route. Both days were well-organized, scenic, and unforgettable. Highly recommend it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mr Tinh was amazing! He was very friendly and hospitable. He picked us up from the hotel, offered us a room to freshen up before taking our overnight bus back to Hanoi, he even dropped us off at the bus station. The guide Mr Choo was so kind and friendly. He checked in with us from time to time throughout the hike! We had a great experience! Thank you Mr Tinh and Choo.
Great private trekking tour to the top of Fansipan! We both found the hike very challenging (30 year olds who both ran marathons in the past 3 months). The elevation gain is no joke. Very rewarding in the end!
Fansipan mountain is a great climb though not for unfit nor inexperienced trekkers. Using a guide such as Chay from Mr Tinh’s team is recommended. I would advise climbing up and cable car down unless you are super fit and are looking for a tougher experience (8-9hrs climbing up and down) Great communication and local knowledge from Mr Tinh is invaluable .
Highly recommend booking with Sapa Original Trek if you are interested in a Fansipan trek. My experience with them was super smooth and enjoyable. My guide was very accommodating with my pace and provided lots of interesting information on areas throughout the hike. The meal provided was delicious and included a good amount of food. I could not think of one bad thing to say about them.
The trip was perfectly organized although we had made our booking quite spontaneously only one day ahead. Our guide was super sporty and could tell us a lot about life here while climbing the mountain. Very nice lunch at 2800m height. Another highlight was to have a spacious room for our luggage with a private shower and even a bed for a nap after hiking, because we had no accommodation after the trekking as we continued by night bus on the same day. All staff members were super friendly and helpful and accompanied us until we were picked up by the night bus. Thanks a lot to the team and our guide!
This is an excellent hike and a fantastic experience, would highly recommend this if your looking for a great day out
We had an amazing time with Sapa Original Trek team over 2 days. Fully customized tours, catered to kids as young as 7 to 12th.
This was an amazing trek. I found the company on Google and used WhatsApp to get in contact. The communication was excellent and organisation was just as good. The hike itself was on a very sunny day but there was still cloud cover at the summit of fansipan. This did not take anything from the hike and the views on the way to the peak. My guide, Mr So, was brilliant he had lots of local knowledge and knew every single section of the way. He carried the lunch which we had at one of the camps and I was given some water for the trip. I was presented with a medal and certificate once at the peak. I cannot recommend this trip and company highly enough
We spent a great time with Chai. The trek is a bit hard if you are not used to do it in one day. The guide cooked Banh mis for us and that gave me the strengh to reach the summit. Thank you!
The trek trail was amazing and beautiful. The trek guide was exceptional and experienced. The food and communication, punctuality was great.
This is a quality company! They picked us up at our hotel at 6 am. My husband and 3 teen so sons did the hike and thought the guide was knowledgeable and funny. He had done the hike more than 600 times! He found some local worms and bugs for them to check out along the way. He made a good lunch with plenty of food. I got a short distance into the hike and was suddenly not feeling well and decided to turn back. The owner of the company picked me up in his private vehicle, let me lay down at the office for a few hours then transported me to the cable car to meet up with my family at the top - amazing customer service! The boys (who are all fit and active) said the hike was really tough but enjoyable.
Very little view due to cloud and storm the night before made the track very wet. Despite this we were the only people on the track apart from one other couple that arrived for lunch when we were finished. I really enjoyed the track which requires good fitness. Our guide was friendly and helpful and lunch was great. We caught the cable car down as it would have been too slippery and was a good way to descend.
What a beautiful hike! The tour organizer Mr Tinh was extremely on top of it and very responsive to all our questions. Our guide Choo was great- my friend and I were definitely on the slower side but he paced us well and gave us lots of encouragement especially close to the end of the hike. He showed us lots of the wildlife on the way up (water buffalo, snakes, bird eggs, etc) and brought snacks for us / made a delicious lunch! If you are a less rigorous hiker it’s good to check what time the cable car closes that day (we went on a day it closed at 4, and finished our hike around 3) in case you are planning on taking it down. The hike is beautiful but as a heads up is quite steep with a lot of stairs! We did this hike in April an the weather was great - in the big 60s/low 70s with on and off visibility since we were hiking in clouds.
We did 3 days, 1 Day Fanzipan hike, 1 day Scooter and 1 day mountain bike. All days were excellent!! Ting the manager organised everything for us and Sinh our guide was so knowledgeable, funny and we felt very safe. Cannot rate the experience highly enough.
Had an incredible experience trekking up Fansipan Mountain in Sapa, Vietnam! The views were absolutely breathtaking and the entire journey was both challenging and rewarding. A huge thank you to Mr. Tinh for organizing everything so smoothly – everything was well-planned from start to finish. And a special shoutout to Mr. Cho, our amazing trek guide, who was knowledgeable, patient, and supportive every step of the way. His guidance made the climb so much more enjoyable and safe. If you’re considering the trek, go for it – and definitely ask for Mr. Cho as your guide!
Gorgeous hiking experience! The trip was very exhausting and challenging for us, but with many small breaks and the patience of our guide we enjoyed the great nature, wonderful views and finally made it to the top. Our guide was so friendly, helpful and caring. He provided us with a delicious lunch and snacks and information about the landscape and his live. His English was very good. We can only recommend this wonderful experience!
Sapa Original Trek is a wonderful experience. Mr Tinh organised my trek for me and was in constant communication with me to make sure I was ready for the day. The company organised a pick up car from the hotel and back, making transport very easy. They provide you with raincoats (you get to keep them) and enough food and water for the whole experience. My hiking guide’s name was Mr Choo. Mr Choo was a very experienced hiker who has been climbing mountains in Sapa region 2-3 times a week since 2016/2017. He was very knowledgeable about the mountains, even showing me medicinal herbs and plants that could be eaten or foraged. Mr Choo was very patient and adjusts his pace according to your abilities. If you are not fit or experienced, he will guide you through the whole process patiently and kindly. The hike is not difficult if you are moderately fit. It is not a technical climb but there are steep inclines that require you to climb ladders. The food made by Mr Choo during the hike is delicious and plentiful. My girlfriend and I were served so much food that we couldn’t eat it all. We had a large bread roll with chicken, egg and fresh vegetables. There was chilli sauce as well if you like a bit of spice. We were served several local fruits that were washed, peeled and neatly served on a plate. We were also given Vietnamese snacks that we could eat then or save for the remainder of the hike. Once you reach the summit, you are awarded with a certificate of completion and a medal. It’s a nice feeling to receive it and you appreciate that the tour guide has recognised your efforts. After the hike, you have the option of taking the cable car back down or walking back down. The cable car is a nicer way to end it because you get to enjoy the views on the way down and appreciate how far you just hiked! If you choose the cable car option, the driver that initially drove you to the mountain will meet you near Muong Hoa station and drive you back to your accommodation. Overall, the organisation and overall experience of the day trek was excellent. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who is in Sapa and I am thankful to Mr Tinh and his team for their wonderful services.

Amazing mountain peak view, garden walk, multi-cultural village, temples, train ride, cable ride, tram ride and many more. Handicapped people can enjoy up to garden and cultural village. Highly recommendable.
Amazing experience from booking overseas and prompt communication with Mr Tinh who kept on checking and answering all the questions. After hearing a lot of stories online about people being scammed, I was a bit scared but all that was settled after I arrived and accomplished my Sapa wishes of trekking the Fansipan mountain, because they were so good and treated us very well, I had to book another bike tour with them which was also spectacular. The tour guides they provide us Sinh and Cho were just so good and passionate about their work. I have already recommended a few friends coming to Vietnam.
We couldn’t avoid morning rain for about 2 hours but once it stopped, it was more pleasant to hike and we also had some views as the weather was changing. The top was magnificent and we spent some time up there. We were also impressed by the warm lunch that was well organized. Our guide was very patient with us when we needed short breaks and so we could enjoy the hike at our own pace.
My husband and I booked this hike as part of our trip to Sapa. We got picked up from our hotel at 6am and headed to the trailhead. Our guide was very kind and knowledgeable. He slowed down to match our hiking pace and provided cool facts along the way. The hike itself is tough and took us about 6h total with rest and lunch. Our guide made us a delicious lunch that included fresh fruit and coffee which fueled us for the rest of the hike. We made it to the top and he gave us time to explore and take photos and then he escorted us down via the cable car. Overall it was a great yet challenging experience and our guide was wonderful!
This trek with Tinh was great, a highlight of our trip ! Tinh was really kind, adapted perfectly to both our pace, prepared good food for lunch and gave us a reward at the top ! To go down, you can either choose to walk down, or use the cable car. I would recommend 100% !
As many prior reviews highlight this is a great travel experience. Communication from Mr Tinh was exceptional with in depth local knowledge and up to the minute information via WhatsApp connection. It is wise to take note of Mr Tinh’s instructions such as clothing options suitable for a challenging trek in changeable weather conditions common to mountain climbs. All went as planned as expected from an established tour operator who clearly enjoys assisting visitors to enjoy the wonderful local natural beauty around Sapa and the trek itself. Chay , the accompanying guide was super calm, experienced ,knowledgeable and great company during this trek. The pace matched mine rather than his much fitter abilities! ( I am a fit 63y.o) There was ample time for reflection, photography and enjoyment of the beautiful climb. Lunch was ample and filling at base camp 2 @ 2800m altitude. This is a climb for fit people and ideally experienced trekkers , at the end fo the climb @ 11.5km and 1500 metres had accumulated with many almost vertical stair sections and climbing ladders. We made good time and there was ample time to enjoy the peak on arrival. The summit has been developed to a surprising extent with a large restaurant, many pagodas, and beautiful succulent and other plant display enhancing the surrounding beautiful ambience. I recommend the cable car journey down for the views and relaxation after a long upward trek. A wonderful experience subject to the weather gods and a trek I will return to complete once more with Mr Tinh & Chay my favourite supports. Final stats (thanks Apple Watch) 5:08hrs,11.44km,KJ. 9894,avHR 147,effort 9 “all out’,altitude gain 1518metres,temperature 3 degrees celsius on the day. (Early spring in Sapa but misty all the time ,brief, light rain bursts but mostly dry ,mild wind up high, largely sheltered by surrounding vegetation along the way)
Wow just wow! Took 7.5h to complete the trek up and it was such a good challenge personally! My guide was Cho and he was really helpful in letting me take breaks whenever I needed, had many good conversations with him and learnt more about the local Sapa and Hmong way of life. Views on the way up were AMAZING (the cable car can never match) Lunch at 2nd base camp was good as well with a huge platter since I'm vegetarian 👍🏻👍🏻
Trek was tiring but the view was worth it! Our guide cai was very patient and encouraging. Really enjoyed it and we even recieved a certificate and medal when we completed the trek
We (Mum and daughter) did the wonderful 1-day trek to Mt. Fansipan. It is a 12 km long Trek, and it‘s going up and down, with light climbing and lots of stairs, but at the end it is a thousand times worth it! We had stunning views even it was foggy and walked through such a rich Jungle and Bamboo-Forest. Our Guide Cho was great, patient, helpful and very nice, and the organisation from Mr. Tinh was great, too: everything was Perfect on time, good food, good explanations. 100% recommended.
Very nice experience, the host of the office were so friendly, No hesitation to go there Organization was very well planned
Everything was well organized, fast guide, beautiful mountain. The cable car was closed for maintenance, so there were just a few people on the whole trek.
