At first, the staff did not properly verify whether the bottle of water had been consumed. They accused me of not paying for it without checking the facts. After inspecting it more carefully, they acknowledged that everything was fine and that I had not used the hotel’s bottled water. Being wrongly accused before any proper verification was frustrating and upsetting, which is why I became angry. I believe the situation could have been avoided if the staff had checked the facts first and handled the matter in a more professional and respectful manner.

We were extremely disappointed with our stay at Sapa Highland Resort & Spa. Although it is advertised as a 4-star hotel, our experience was nowhere near what we would expect from a hotel of that rating. The beds were incredibly hard and very uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The air conditioner was practically useless—even set to 16°C with the fan on maximum, the room never cooled down. To make matters worse, the unit was positioned directly above the head of the bed and dripped water onto the bed throughout the night. The room also had a noticeable cigarette smell, which was unpleasant from the moment we walked in. The walls are paper-thin, so you can clearly hear guests in neighbouring rooms having normal conversations, leaving very little privacy or peace and quiet. The location is also misleading. It is not centrally located in Sapa as we expected. The hotel sits high on the hill, requiring around a 10-minute steep downhill walk just to reach the town centre—which, of course, becomes an uphill climb on the way back. To top it all off, there is a pig farm right at the entrance to the hotel’s driveway. Every time you leave the hotel to explore Sapa, you’re greeted by the overwhelming smell of pig manure, which is far from the welcoming atmosphere you’d hope for on holiday. What made the experience even more frustrating was the response from the hotel staff. When I raised these issues during our stay, they showed little interest or concern and made no meaningful effort to address them. For a hotel that claims to be 4-star, I expected far better customer service. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay, and I certainly wouldn’t consider this a genuine 4-star experience. I would strongly recommend looking at alternative hotels if you’re planning a trip to Sapa.
We took an overnight train to reach sapa at 8am, but the rooms were to be available at 2pm. We requested them for early check-in to which the tall lady manager demanded extra early check-in charges and separate breakfast charges too, which were denied by us. The good thing was they kept our baggage safely and we went for our sightseeing before taking breakfast in a nearby restaurant.
Had a wonderful stay at Sapa Highland Resort. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and the staff were very welcoming. The location is great, making it easy to explore Sapa. One thing I really enjoyed was the beautiful flower garden. 🌸 Walking around it in the morning with the fresh mountain air was so peaceful and relaxing. It made the stay even more memorable. Overall, a great place to stay, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Sapa. 😊
Room was nice. Hardest most uncomfortable bed i have ever slept on. Well, didn't sleep on, because it hurt so much ro lay on it. Breakfast was nothing special and spread over two rooms, so when you finished gathering food stuffs, you had to go back to another room to grab a drink.. Nice location and views! Very nice shower. My toilet leaked for the two days I was there. The noise was unbelievable.
