That was one of the highlights of our trip to Santorini, sightseeing with Themis. His knowledge of the Greek history and local culture and traditions of the island made every stop much more interesting and meaningful. Most memorable was his thoughtful accommodation of one of our group with a knee injury on the tour. Themis changed the schedule to suit their convenience, but we still got to see the main sites of interest on the island. It was done unhurriedly and without confusion and with real solicitude. Santorini Tours offered us a very personal and comfortable way to see the island.

Itinerary
Next, continue to the village of Imerovigli, an ideal spot for snapping more pictures. Your guide will lead the way into the heart of the town, explaining its architecture and showing you the beautiful blue-domed cathedral and hotels perched high on the caldera cliffs. Since Imerovigli is a preserved traditional settlement, the architectural style of the buildings remains unchanged. The buildings are mainly Cycladic and primarily local, Fira style. Today, Imerovigli is one of the most developed tourist destinations in Santorini, with first-class hotels, restaurants, and other shops visited by tens of thousands worldwide annually.
Oia is Santorini's most famous village. It is known worldwide for its unique sunset, when the sun sinks into the blue sea behind the volcano. The town is about 120 meters north of the caldera, extending from the west to the east coast of this narrow island.
A picturesque village where you can wander along paved paths and admire classic Greek buildings, churches with blue domes and bell towers. You will also have the opportunity to enter the underground caves of the 18th century and see the place where people lived in the past. The sights of Megalochori are two impressive churches standing on the village's central square. The Church of the Introduction of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a wooden iconostasis and Byzantine icons of the Russian school and the church of Agia Anargiri celebrate July 1, a big holiday in the village. The village has been mentioned in written sources since the mid-17th century. It also appears on the map of 1801. The broader area's findings indicate that it has been inhabited since the early Cycladic and Late Cycladic periods.
After visiting Imerovigli, continue to the Prophet Ilias Monastery, situated on the top of Santorini's highest mountain. Enjoy the panoramic island and Aegean views. Mount Profitis Ilias is the island's highest point, less than five kilometres (3.1 miles) from the village of Pyrgos. Right at its summit stands a monastery of the same name. Dating back to 1711, the monastery of Profitis Ilias, one of the oldest on the island, is a stunning example of Cycladic architecture at its best.
Take a walking tour here before venturing to the famous black beach at Perissa-Perivolos, Monolithos, or Kamari Beach. Get time here to explore, and if you wish, enjoy an optional lunch (if time allows) at a local taverna (at your own expense). Since Santorini is not known for its beautiful beaches, Perissa Beach is a pleasant surprise. Perissa is a magnificent beach, covered with black volcanic sand, and it is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling. It is located on the southeastern coast of Santorini and extends at the base of the massive cape Mesa Vuno, sharply projecting into the sea. At the top of the mountain is the ancient city of Thira. Perissa is one of the island's most cosmopolitan beaches, stretching for miles. It merges with Perivolos Beach; together, it is a beach with a length of more than 7 kilometers: the water is obvious, a gentle descent into it and a beautiful color. The coarse black sand is pleasant to walk on and sparkles like sparkles.

Very knowledgeable guide,Ana, learnt a lot. Best way to see more of the Island and skip cablecar. Wish there had been a comfort stop in first hour before Oia since we had already off the ship for quite a while. Tour didnt leave until 10 :30 , Would have been nice to include Fira. I have been before and the views are better than Oia imo
The five hour sightseeing tour was a lovely way to explore Santorini without feeling rushed. With only four other guests in the van, the experience felt comfortable and relaxed. The guide was friendly and shared interesting details about the island’s history along the way. The highlight was stopping at a quiet spot away from the crowds to watch the sunset over the caldera and take photos.
Absolutely loved our 5-hour sightseeing tour with Santorini Tours! Victor was an amazing guide—very professional, helpful, and funny. He made sure everyone was comfortable and shared great stories about Santorini. Perfect way to explore the island if you are on a tight schedule. 10/10 service!
We took a Viator tour of Santorini. It was it a beautiful day on a magnificent island. Absolutely gorgeous views, the tour was well thought out and gave us wonderful places for photos and a really nice taste for the island. Best of all was Victor the guide assigned to our tour. He was personable, knowledgeable, insightful, communicative and made the tour a pleasure. He made a good tour a great one! Thank you Victor for making Maria and my experience fun filled and memorable.
Alex and Kenzel were a great team and gave a wonderful tour. Alex was knowledgeable, considerate of varying physical limitations, and funny. Alex was a safe driver and shared his knowledge of cooking with us. Kenzel was easy to understand. My only negative was that one family was over an hour late to arrive and we all were kept waiting. There should be a published policy of how long the tour will wait before leaving and an hour or more was too long. It extended the tour past the time it was supposed to be done however we did very much enjoy the tour.
We joined a 3-hour afternoon tour with our family and had a great experience. Elias was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer our questions about Santorini and its history. We visited some beautiful viewpoints, explored a few lesser-known spots, and enjoyed an incredible sunset. The wine-tasting stop was also a nice addition to the tour. Elias made sure we had enough time at each location and shared useful tips for the rest of our stay on the island. A well-organized tour with a great guide. We would happily recommend Santorini Tour to anyone visiting Santorini.
This experience was truly one of the highlights of our trip, and I’m so grateful for the care and effort the team put into making it unforgettable. Don’t hesitate—book a tour with them. You won’t regret it!
The town at the top of the gondola or donkey ride was full of quaint hotels, restaurants, walking areas, and shops. People were amazing. We also saw the town of Eia ( a must visit too) along with some amazing churches, vineyards at Megalohori, and plenty of time to freelance walk around and see the city. Had lunch a delicious/ picturesque lunch at Mario along the beach for an improvised event. So glad we did the tour. Our guide and driver were outstanding.
We didn't rent a car but wanted to as much as possible while we were here. We were shown the major towns and decided which one we wanted to go back to the next day on our own.
Our American Greek tour guide, Themis, was excellent!! He was very knowledgeable and had a great personality. Made sure our day was tailored to what we were interested in seeing.
You will learn so much about Santorini and get amazing views and experience. Ride was all time very smooth and always on time. Our tour guide George was the coolest guy in Santorini. Glad we had a chance to meet him and get amazing time in this beautiful island.
Our local tour guide provided us with a delightful experience with a native’s perspective. Utterly fascinating!!
very informative and beautiful tour. we enjoyed seeing the entire island in a small group. Our guide was wonderful and knowledgable
George, our driver was fantastic. He showed us beautiful views and shared interesting information and had us laughing all day. Got some great photos.
If you want experience a taste of the whole island, this the tour for you. Our guide was great and was organized. The only thing to keep in mind is to give yourself some extra time to make it up the cable car. We had to line up for well over an hour. The line up got the return was even longer, so we decided to walk down the path which is shared with donkies. It took us about 40 minutes and It added to the enjoyable experience. If you decide to walk up, it’s a difficult trek. Don’t attempt it unless you are in good physical condition. We were given some free time and were never rushed to see some incredible sights.
Our tour guide was beyond amazing. So informative. His knowledge sense of humor made the tour more fun. I highly recommend him Definitely I will return to Sontrini Greece The history. He took us to the best foods black beach it was such an amazing experience. Thank you
Thoroughly enjoyable tour of all key sites and vistas of Santorini. We especially liked visiting an historic Greek Orthodox church and watching the sunset over the water. Would highly recommend this tour with Themistoklis!
Themis was wonderful on our tour of Santorini. He explained things thoroughly combining broad knowledge of history, a wonderful sense of humor and great responsibility for our group of 15. He even turned us onto a tour guide in Athens for when our cruise is over. Santorini is just wonderful !! I must add if you’re cruising in October and receive a notice saying you must get off the ship on one of the earliest tenders because of the crowds and waiting…take it easy. We were on tender #10 and we waiting 2 hours for the tour!!!
Mary was incredibly knowledgeable and took us to all of the gem locations that Santorini has to offer. We had such a memorable experience and would highly recommend any family to do this tour
The sights he took us to was great and when we talked to others that don other Tours they only got to see half what we did due to group size and bus size.
Themistoklis was our tour guide. What a great tour guide he was. He showed us great sites. He was very professional yet friendly. He was absolutely the best tour guide I experienced throughout my vacation.
Billy was a wonderful tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We loved the highest point on the island and and the small real ( not touristy) village. I also loved seeing the black sand beach. It was a beautiful day!
Serendipity to end up with a private tour instead of a group! Harris was very knowledgeable, patient, flexible, and entertaining! He took us to dozens of the most spectacular view points on the island for pictures! (Dress nice for pictures!) To minimize up hill walking, he dropped us off close to scenic points, parked down the hill, and quickly returned to guide us. The food at a restaurant he recommended on the black beach after our tour was outstanding! Highly recommend Harris for your tour!
María is an excellent tour guide She avoided crowds and gave us time to experience a beitiful part of Santorini without being in the most touristic area Later on she gave us a great reccomendation for food and some advices for the rest of the day I will totally find her again as tour with her exploring another area in satorini
We did a tour with Themistoklis (Themis) the Greek American. It was a great tour , the bus was spacious, comfortable and best of all had fabulous air con! Themis was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable about the island and got us to all the right places avoiding crowds as best as possible. We got to see the island from north to South with a lunch stop and swim on the beach. There was no way we could have done it without him. I would highly recommend
My daughter and I did the 5 hour tour at 3pm. Our guide Mike was amazing! He took us to so many places in a nice air conditioned car and everywhere taught us something new!! Even at the black beach! Our only ask was a beautiful place to see the sunset and he took us to the best place ever!! We are beyond happy and had the best day ever!
Themistoklis our private tour guide for Santorini tours was absolutely fantastic. Our tour was informative about the history of the island and well managed. We saw and did everything we wanted and ended with a meal watching the sunset also organised by Themistoklis he literally took care of everything from start to finish. Lovely lovely guy would definitely recommend him for those wanting a private tour. Loved it. Thank you.
Themis was great and spoke perfect English. It was a very crowded day and it was great to have someone who knew the area well. Would recommend Themis and the tour company as a great way to see the island of Santorini.
I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing this tour was and what made it so wonderful was our marvelous tour guide Mary and our excellent driver George. We started at 9:00 am. and wrapped up at 3:00 p.m. ish. We only had 2 days in Santorini and Mary showed us all of the most perfect highlights coupled with the best spots! We saw the famous blue domes in oia, the historic archaeological site of a village destroyed by a volcano, the black and red beaches, stops for amazing pictures, small churches, the most breathtaking monestary and stops for gelato, shopping and lunch. Mary’s recommendations and the flexibility of the tour were top notch! Lunch on the beach at Afros with authentic Greek cuisine was terrific!! Highly recommend.
Picturesque Santorini can only be discovered with a tour guide willing to take you everywhere. We joined another family and explored the island with Michael, our tour guide. He was exceptionally knowledgeable about the history and archaeology of the city. We witnessed culture and explored hidden gems only known to locals. The tour was very informative, catering to both casual visitors and those with a deeper interest in history. I recommend Michael to all age groups wanting to know Santorini.
Overall, this was a good tour. However, at the beginning we had trouble meeting our driver. After confirming a number of times via email with Nicholas (dispatcher), we were to meet our driver at the McDonalds and after searching for our driver he was at the cablecar. With a number of emails and a half an hour later, we got it together and met Elias S. our driver. Although it was an overcast day due to the Sahara dust, Elias S ensured that we had great opportunities to take pictures of the beautiful island of Santorini. Elias S is a professional photographer who made our 2 families shine. We explored Thira and had explored Oia with all the crowds. We then looked at Akrotiri Museum (luckily it was a free day) and went to black beach and red beach. He explained the vineyards and tourist sites of the area and had a great walk in Megalochori and the caves. Had some artistic pictures on top of some churches and then he dropped us off in Thira. Elias S really made our excursion of Santorini fun and memorable.
I was searching for tours vs using the cruise ship options (those were dismal and severely overpriced). Stumbled on this company. They were easy to contact and book. If I had any questions/concerns, they were responsive. They are very experienced in taking cruise passengers and making sure we make it back to the ship on time. The company sent instructions on how to get to the top and we ended up getting there with time to spare. Did a little window shopping, more water, etc. Michael was our drive/guide. He was very professional and had tons of knowledge. We asked questions, he had answers. This was a private tour with myself, husband, and two kids. Able to custom our tour based on our interests and of course energy level. Keep in mind, there is still a lot of walking. Santorini is full of hills and stairs. Michael literally took us around the entire island. He quickly guided us through some very packed/popular sites (all the IG photo ops). He was really trying to get us in and out of Oia as it becomes unbearable at sunset due to the crowds. We had a wonderful overview of the island and places we would like to visit again. It was worth it to be able to see everything vs just picking one part of the island to see. I highly recommend this tour company and would use them again for my future travels! Please ask for Michael-he was great!
Great tour. Our driver, Happiness, was very prompt and courteous. Kia, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Both did an excellent job. Highly recommended.
Well organized tour. We were shuttled and also walked around the island to see all the highlights. Small group of 12 with the best guide Yannis. Great tour!
Knowledge of the tour guide was extremely interesting plus he added quite a bit of humor to make the trip more enjoyable.
Very nice tour! Our guide was entertaining and informative. We learned a lot about the history Santorini.
We had a fantastic experience! Our driver was able to change our time to meet our needs and did a great job keeping us safe and taking us to the most photographed locations with beautiful view's! Thank you so much Yonny!
We had a great time with our amazing tour guide, Mary! She is vibrant, energetic, and so knowledgeable. We saw the entire island, the ruins, went to the best locations for photos and shops, and had lunch at a beautiful seafood restaurant right on the black sand beach. We learned so much and came home with souvenirs and fond memories.
We had booked the group tour and die to it being off season, we got so lucky to have King George all to ourselves. He showed us the most fantastic day. We spent 6 hours together and he brought this village to life through his incredible stories. He played great music in his comfortable Mercedes. He took us to a yummy fresh fish lunch on red beach, to his local yummy bakery in his town, and was our personal photographer all day long. We felt like we had paparazzi making us feel so famous. Our photos are spectacular.
So happy we booked this tour! Mary was absolutely amazing, great personality and so knowledgeable about the island and its history. We hit all of the “picture” perfect locations and learned so much about Greek culture at the same time. Request Mary as your tour guide and Arturo as your driver if you can!
Beautiful scenery. Really enjoyed the first stop at the winery. Wish we could have stayed there as the view was so spectacular.
My son and I took a tour of Santorini mid December. As it was the off season, the place was almost empty of tourists. Yet, because there were no other people taking the group tour, we had the tour all to ourselves, so really we ended up getting a private tour! Mary, our tour guide, was exceptional. She knew so much history and it was really interesting! She also knew all the sites where popular pictures are taken, so that we would not be disappointed with our pictures when we got home. Also, because there were no tourists on our walkabout, we didn't have any tourists in our pictures! Only the businesses supporting the locals were open, which suited us just fine. We were still able to get souvenirs from the locals that were selling their own wares, which made it even more authentic of a trip. And I would much rather support the locals than companies that come from off the island just to sell to tourists! We ended our day with Mary at an authentic restaurant for a late lunch, which she recommended. The food was fantastic. The restaurants that are still open off season are those the locals attend, so you know they are good! We had a very nice relaxed day. Our driver, Arturos, was also fantastic: safe, attentive, and flexible for our tour.
On a cursory examination, Santorini has got the same, standard features that the multitude of other Greek Aegean Islands have got – all-white dwellings with blue domed-roofs and dashes of colour, no shortage of small churches, the requisite beasts of burden (ie, donkeys), quaint shops, but something seems to elevate Fira and Santorini in the tourist-attracting stakes. I think it must be that incredible, unrivalled setting of the island. As you approach it from the cruisers you get a fantastic view of the high cliff-face—rugged cliffs given their uniquely distinctive appearance by volcanic eruptions in antiquity—and then when air-lifted up to the top you find this charming little picture-perfect town you can’t wait to explore.
Mary, our tour guide, was awesome. Because the island was starting to close down, the tour turned into a private one because it was just 2 couples. We toured the entire island. What a great experience.
This was a great tour for a few reasons. The group was small (about 12) and the guide and driver efficiently moved us in a clean. air conditioned and comfortable van, through large crowds in Fira town and Oia to see the main sites and take photos. You can't really say you've been to Santorini if you don't have pictures in front of the iconic churches and blue domes. Once that frenzy of crowds was out of our system, we enjoyed a gelato break, and a peaceful ride further up into the hills of Santorini to visit a monastery and then enjoyed an excellent meal with our group, on the beach at a beautiful seaside restaurant. The meal and service were excellent and it was a nice way to meet others who were on our ship. I'm very glad we got out of the hustle and bustle of the busy towns to enjoy the rest of the island. There was more time to visit Fira Town on our return, but we had seen enough and took the donkey path back down to the tender on foot. It's an easy 15-20 minute downhill walk and way less tiring than standing in line for 2 hours for the funicular tram.
Our tour guide was excellent, Very knowledgeable and took time to answer all of our questions. I would highly recommend them.
There's no one else I'd recommend more than Fotios for a tour of Santorini! We had the most incredible time - Fotios was very knowledgeable and so much fun to spend the day with - he took wonderful photos of my husband and I, and knew all the best spots to stop for the best views, and seems to truly love what he does. Do yourself a favor and book the tour with him, you won't regret it and you'll get to see all the best places on this beautiful island!
The tour and was interesting and took us to some interesting spots with some terrific views. Unfortunately we were never taken to the wine tastings, nor was it offered.
We had a private tour. Fotios Tsevas was very nice and accomodating. Went to places that were not crowded with other tourists.
