A private tour is a perfect way to do it how you want. Our guide was brilliant (sorry my recollection of Greek names is poor! And my attempt at spelling worse!!) he treated us with a snack from the bakery and then whisked us off to Oia to beat the crowds and high heat. All the way and throughout the day he provided just about every fact you could dream of covering the history and geography of Santorini, a bit of geology and a good dose of jokes and humour. I could go on, but not into essays.. needless to say and absolutely worthwhile experience made by our guide. Thank you! Oh, forgot to mention but have to add we included a trip to a winery in our tour. We visited the Gavalas winery… a gem, small family multi-generational business. Fantastic wines, a must visit!

We had an amazing family tour of Santorini with Armani who has lived on Santorini for about 30 years. She adjusted the schedule and order of events to accommodate our plans for the day and was very kind and pleasant and incredibly knowledgeable about Santorini and Greek life and culture. She took us to a beautiful place for lunch and a winery as well as her own village and the village of Oia. We had a wonderful day with her as our tour guide.
Our private tour of traditional Santorini was an absolutely amazing experience that gave us a deeper appreciation for the island’s unique beauty, culture, and history. From start to finish, our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and amusing — he made the day both fun and insightful, ensuring we saw all the most interesting and scenic parts of the island. We visited the striking Red Beach and Black Beach, both breathtaking in their own way and unlike anything we'd seen before. We also explored several small, picturesque villages, each with its own charm, stunning architecture, and tranquil atmosphere. Along the way, we learned about the building rules and traditions that give Santorini its iconic look — whitewashed walls, blue domes, and narrow stone paths. A highlight of the tour was the wine tasting, where we sampled local wines unique to Santorini’s volcanic soil. The winery offered beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere, and the wines (especially the Assyrtiko) were delicious. We also enjoyed a lovely lunch featuring fresh, local ingredients and classic Greek flavors. This tour was the perfect blend of sightseeing, culture, and relaxation, and thanks to our fantastic guide, we felt like we experienced the real heart of Santorini. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to go beyond the postcard views and connect with the island’s rich traditions!
Do not miss the opportunity to start your adventure on Santorini with this tour and company. You will be especially please if Amani is your guide. The information and tour is enhanced by her knowledge and sharing of history to understand the importance and beauty of Santorini. It is more than Oia !! You see the entire island and will assist you to go back and see more. The personalized tour we received to meet our needs and wants to see the entire island. Again, do not miss the opportunity to explore with her and this tour company.
Amani was amazing. Her English is fantastic and easy to understand. She is extremely knowledgeable about her beautiful island. She met us at the cable car early so we could beat the crowd to Oia. We had free time to take pictures, shop and enjoy the views. She then took us to many picturesque places and took pictures of us we will treasure forever. We had a wine tasting at a small vineyard that was so good. We then enjoyed traditional, local cuisine at a restaurant with a view of the entire island and caldera. I would recommend this tour and guide for your next trip to Santorini, Greece.
Akis was our guide and we couldn’t have asked for a better one. He is native to Santorini and knows the island and its history better than anyone. He got us to the best views and photo spots of iconic blue domes, windmills and beautiful vistas. The private tour took us to several towns from the north to the south, stopping at his favorite spots which quickly became our favorites too. Highly recommend Golden Ibex and Akis!
Our long-overdue review of our unforgettable family cruise, which included stops in Santorini, couldn't be complete without mentioning our incredible private tour with Amani. We were traveling with three generations—grandparents, teens, and everyone in between—and Amani catered to us all perfectly. From the start, Amani was amazing, informative, and so friendly. Since she’s a local, she knew all the best spots for taking family photos and got us to all the right spots before they filled with tourists. One of the highlights was the food—Amani took us to local spots where we tasted the most delicious Greek dishes, including some incredible local ice cream that we still talk about! Her knowledge of the best spots really enhanced our experience. Our tour covered the best parts of Santorini, from the charming village of Pyrgos to the breathtaking views in Oia. We also had the chance to taste some delicious local wines at a winery. The beauty of the private tour was the flexibility—we could adjust the itinerary based on what we wanted to see. For a quick stop like ours, having Amani guide us was invaluable. We truly can’t recommend her services enough! If you’re looking for a local, personalized tour in Santorini, Amani is the guide to book!
We had an amazing day with Akis. He showed us what felt like all of Santorini and gave us insight into local life, as well as a thorough history lesson. He is so kind and funny; he kept the day moving with jokes and tidbits. He also was very thoughtful of our pace and tailored the day to suit our interests and abilities. Amongst the many stops, one of my favorites was a winery. There we had a delicious wine tasting and tour of the vineyard. He also showed us around Oia, Fira, Pyrgos, Kamari, and many other towns and sites. He’s also a skilled and enthusiastic photographer!! We had an unforgettable day and highly recommend Golden Ibex!
Our tour experience of Santorini was nothing short of amazing. Akis is the best tour guide you could ask for. His attention to every detail and smooth transition from place to place was amazing. He took very good care of our children and bought them ice cream. I will recommend him any day and will patronize him anytime in Santorini. Shout out to Amani for organizing this tour experience as well. Thank you Golden Ibex Tours.
We had a full day Santorini tour covering some of the main cities, ending with oia. Akis was our guide throughout the whole thing and kept it interesting with his humour and intellect. He was very accommodative and understanding, making sure we got our moneys worth.
My family and I have cruised multiple times before and used various other private tour providers. This was by far the best experience we have ever had on a shore excursion. We were able to see parts of the island that really showed the true beauty of Santorini and not just the tourist side. We never felt rushed and were always well taken care of. My son had the best time and says this was his favorite day of our entire trip. This is a must do while in Santorini. Highly recommend!
Amani took us on a private tour to experience Easter and see the beautiful small towns of Santorini. Her knowledge of Santorini's history and culture made for an amazing tour. Amani and her husband did everything possible to make this a day to remember. The highlight was watching the Church and Castle in Pyros be lit up by over a thousand torches on Good Friday Night. It was magical and once in a lifetime experience.
My wife and I had several tours on our trip to Athens and the islands, and this was by far the best. We booked a 5 hour tour of the Akritori site, a traditional small town, and two wineries to sample their wines. All of it was excellent. The visit to Akritori was great, even though much of the settlement still hasn’t been excavated, mostly because we had a fantastic guide, Evi, specifically for that part of the tour. She was clear and knowledgeable and gave thoughtful answers, a marked contrast to guides who have a patter and won't substantially answer any questions. I have nothing but good things to say about Amani and her husband/driver/guide Akis, who is an architect by trade and has a deep understanding of how and why things on Santorini were and are built as they are. They were excellent guides and great company, and they knew who to hand things off to provide us with an expert archaeological tour. Our five hour tour lasted seven hours because we spent so much time at Akritori. Not only with no complaints but Amani made restaurant recommendations and in one case, making us a reservation for Easter Sunday lunch the next day. And she later checked up on how we liked the restaurant. Nothing but raves here.
Our tour on Santorini with Amani was one of the highlights of our trip. We were picked up on time Christmas morning from our hotel. Right from the beginning Amani was extremely welcoming and kind. Her wealth of knowledge of the history of the island was remarkable and we learned so much in the short time we were able to spend with her. Winter was a wonderful time to visit as we had Oia completely to ourselves and it allowed Amani to walk with us and show us around. Later we asked to shop for local goods. Amani’s good friends were kind enough to open their store on Christmas Day (no other stores were open) for us to shop. They sell ceramics from local artists and Sofia showed us around the store. She and her husband even invited us over for crepes the next day. After a tour of Pyrgos (Amani’s home village) and its fortress we headed down to the black sand beach. Normally the local tavern at the beach is the last stop on the tour but Amani was nervous they wouldn’t be open on Christmas Day. To our surprise (and Amani’s) it was packed with locals and live music! Thanks to Amani we got a table and had a great meal (the lamb chops were amazing!) to finish the day. Amani really went the extra mile to make our tour amazing, not to mention spending her whole Christmas Day with two tourists. If booking we would recommend requesting Amani, she was amazing. This tour is perfect for your first day on the island. You will appreciate the sites and history much more for the rest of your time here.
My friends and I had a wonderful day touring with Amani. Her knowledge of Santorini and presentation made it easy for you to grasp the information.Enjoyed the pacing of the tour allowing rest periods between the walking tours. Really enjoyed the vineyard and the discovery of the wine “Vinsanto”. Experiencing the taste of a good pizza lunch along the was special.. Thanks again Amani.
This was the best tour taken in the week we were in Greece! Our tour guide, Amani was very knowledgeable and accommodating to our needs. During the tour we needed to stop to eat. She took us to her portion of Santorini for lunch. The restaurant she chose was amazing! The food, the atmosphere and the staff were authentic and just what we needed. This tour with Amani was worth the cost and something I would do again. She made you feel as if you were seeing Greece with a friend! We could not have asked for anything more. It was perfect!
Was able to book this at the last minute while on a cruise to Greece as our other excursion through the cruise got cancelled on us. Our guide was lovely, took us through the entire island and provided a lot of insight. She knew where to go first to beat the crowds so we got the best postcard photos to remember our trip. The wine was great and we bought a few bottles to bring home with us. Then she gave us a great recommendation for lunch before we hopped back on the cruise ship. Super easy and relaxed day and we would love to go back due to the great experience.
Amazing experience, everything planned and organized perfectly, from hotel stay to food, tours, cruising and wineries, and most of all 3 days cycling tours for our group of over 25people, Amani is great host very friendly and super informative, we thoroughly enjoyed our 5 days stay, cycling around the island and mountains throughout mornings and walking tours during day till evening, cruising and hiking was another beautiful experience, thanks Amani and team for making our stay wonderful, beautiful sunrise above the sea, cycling around by the sea to mountains walking through cosy villages and watching sunset, dream came true❤️
Our family of 5 had a great 6 hour tour with Amani. She is so passionate about showing her guests a different side of Santorini. Her love of the island comes through. The winery she selected for the tour was fabulous, as was the restaurant for lunch. Friendly and professional, with a fantastic sense of humour. Highly recommend.
Amazing service and full of knowledge about the island, fantastic tour and a highlight of our time in Santorini.
Amani was such a sweet and great tour guide, she should us Santorini like never before to discover its beauty. definitely will go back to her soon.
They were very friendly and helpful and very well educated and aware with every single details Thank you for your warm hospitality
Professional Travel agent, very friendly, amazing Tour . Amany Barakat our guide was superb and helpful. We are lucky to Travel with such excellent Agent. We will be back and will send you ours friends. thank you.
We thought the tour might be boring since it is off season and the weather was quite off.. But that was far from it. The tour was very interesting and we got to see a lot of nice places, got to take pretty pictures and learn a lot about Santorini and eat delicious local food. Even though it is off-season and a lot of places are closed, Amani managed to give us a interesting, memorable and fun tour making us fall in love with Santorini. Definitely coming back in the summer one day.
i would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience the best of Santorini! Our tour guide, Amani was very informative and friendly. She took the time to take our pictures at each location, and accommodated our requests of special sites we wanted to visit. She made us feel like family with her warmth and special attention. At dinner, she recommended a restaurant, and even went inside to help us order! I highly recommend this tour, and only have nice things to say about the lovely Amani!
Santorini is such a touristic destination - fair enough. Everything is breathtaking. But there are some details that you won't find easily on instagram. I was able to explore the most traditional parts, the real villages and magic streets thanks to Amani. She is the person that will share with you the most hidden stories and will introduce you to locals. The tour is completely worth it. Don't leave Santorini without that.
We went from one and of the island to the other. Our guide was Amazing. Very personable and answered all our questions and wanted to make sure we did all we could with our time. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and lots of stairs up and down. But Oh - so worth it. Great time, Great guide. Would do it again in a second.
Amani and her “driver” made us feel like family and offered us great insights into the island. 👍👍👍
My first time in Santorini... I was hoping to have a good time but after i met Amani Barkat, my trip started to be amazing, memoriable and something to write about.. She is friendly, caring, knowledgeable, does her work with love.. She assisted me in planning activities throughout my visit and did a private tour of Pyrgos with her... She has so much historical information to share and she went above and beyond her duty to ensure we have the best time ever.. She did not spare any effort to guide us to places to go, restaurants to eat, wineries to go to. Thank you Amani for everything you did for us.
I was very impressed of Amani's historical knowlage of Santorini in general and of her ability to manage the tour time and events to ensure that I got the best value out of my tour. Aside from her vast knowlage and familiarity with Santorini, Amani was such an energetic and a positive pleasent person to be around, which made my private tour a joyful, fun, and a memorable tour.
My husband and I thought Santorini was a nice place but did not understand or see what the excitement was all about until me met Amani and started our tour. her knowledge of the place, the history, and the people brought it all together. Even the history of small houses that looked alike to us , yet seemed so different when Amani explained the structure and history. She was knowledgable and fun without being 'funny'. Thank you Amani from the bottom of my heart.
So we really surprised our guide because we had already seen half of the sites on the itinerary the day before. Luckily, Amani knew her island very well and tailored a custom tour to the sites we wanted to see again and some new places we didn't expect. We loved it and loved her!
This tour is a must and the company Golden Ibex is family owned. Akiss lives in Santorini and knows everyone and you’ll observe this as he walks the city. He loves Greece and it’s reflected through his dialogue of the historical sites. We both feel like he is a friend we’d want to revisit each time we are in Santorini Greece. He quickly observed what we liked and wanted to spend more time learning about. He does not push you and takes time to get to know you and your interest. We cannot wait to signup for other tours the company offers. What a wonderful five star experience!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have booked this tour for Jun6 online says tour starts at 12 noon. Then I got an email. informing me the hour got changed to 1500(3pm) at the old Medical Center. We were there at 1455(255pm) until 1615(415pm) NO ONE SHOWED UP. Called the number they gave me no one answered my international call 2x and I send multiple emails no response either. I went to the bus station and down the street where other tour busses are no one knew them nor they’re there. Waste of our time. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND UP TO NOW I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM I DEMAND A FULL REFUND. They’re not professional poor customer service. VERY NEGATIVE 100 star.
My wife and I were only in Santorini for approximately half a day during a cruise. As we have both been looking forward to Santorini as one of the highlights of our trip, I did quite a bit of research online as to the best way to see the island during our short stay. We decided to book with Golden Ibex as the reviews seemed to be all positive and after our experience in Santorini I can see why, they were absolutely amazing! Amani was our guide and she was fantastic, she met us as we arrived in Santorini from the cruise ship and gave us a local guided tour of just about the entire island where we hit many of the highlights of Santorini. She knew exactly how to get around the island and the best way through the towns to best avoid the large crowds of other tourist throughout the towns. Amani took us everywhere we wanted and she was very knowledgeable about where to go for the best sights and best pictures. She was also able to provide us with fun facts about the history of Santorini during the tour which I felt was also one of the highlights of the tour itself. In addition to enjoying the amazing sights of the island we were able to visit a local winery for a tasting which was amazing, as well as enjoying an authentic greek lunch from one of her favorite restaurants on the island with an absolutely breathtaking view from the table. Amani even gave us tips on where to stay and what to do whenever we make it back to the island, which we absolutely intend to do. If you are going to be spending time in Santorini, this tour is an absolute must!

The most amazing tour with the best tourist guide Amani Baraka from Golden Ibex. I highly recommend her for her knowledge, kindness and friendly.

Amani whisked us away from our Hotel and quickly transported us on two winery tours and tastings (Santos and Gavalas) - both of which were very enjoyable yet very different experiences. In hindsight, we should have planned to spend more time at the first winery - Santo Wines, as we would've preferred the opportunity to explore their wines and facility more thoroughly. We then made our way to Pyrgos. a charming Greek Village. It so reminded us of Oia before it became entirely too commercialized. We walked all throughout the Village, as Amani provided interesting historical facts about the area. Amani was very knowledgeable on the region and made every effort to ensure that we remained engaged. That we felt welcomed, fulfilled and delighted with the entire encounter. We ended our tour by enjoying the beautiful sunset from the Venetian Castle high atop a hill - with splendid views from every angle. Again ,in hindsight we wish we would have had more time to spend here. Relax in the main square at one of the local Tavernas. Enjoy a tasty meal and relish in the traditional surroundings of one of the last unspoiled Villages on Santorini...

The only way to see Santorini. If you want to hit the highlights and sample the local scene then look no further, this tour was the best.

We visited Akrotiri and our guide Evi made us live exciting moments with his stories and professionalism. Definitely visit Santorini with Amani and her team will be an unforgettable experience. Maria Lisa Keramidas
