Santorini is famous not only for its views, but for its gastronomy. Fresh local products like fava (yellow split peas), capers and the island's signature cherry tomato are the backbone of traditional recipes that tell the story of local culture. On this experience you will get hands-on in the kitchen at Aroma Avlis, learning to cook time-honoured Santorinian dishes such as fava, tomato fritters, and pork fillets in Vinsanto (sweet wine) sauce — with vegetarian alternatives available for those who prefer to skip the meat. Once the cooking is done, you will sit down on the restaurant's picturesque veranda to enjoy the dishes you just made, paired with glasses of local Santorinian wine. Depending on the option you choose, your day can also include a guided tasting of Santorini's volcanic wines, and a relaxed finish with a cocktail and fruit salad on private sun-loungers at a black sand beach in the south of the island.
We started the tour by meeting the driver and going to a local restaurant and winery. We did a wine tasting of local wines and a cooking class with Chef Chris. We tried the food we prepared and had a meal after. This was amazing! Chef Chris was a wonderful and enthusiastic teacher. We then ended the day at a local beach club on the black sand beach, which was a perfect end to the day!
The food and techniques we learned were awesome! . The aromas were incredible. Will definitely recommend.

Chris, our chef and Constantin, our sommelier were so inviting and passionate! The menu was delicious and the directions provided were simple - they made it laid-back and fun for all involved. Our driver, Arthur was prompt, engaging and discussed all the planned details as we traveled along- very knowledgeable and personable. Thank you for an all-around great and memorable experience.
Cooking class was absolutely fantastic. The restaurant and staff so inviting. We will do this again and again. I honestly can say this was an unforgettable experience.
We have traveled for many years and this experience is now one of the top excursions we have done. Chef and team were absolutely fantastic. 10/10. I can’t tell you how joy we had with this experience. We will be back for sure
The experience was fun, interactive, and unique. There were four of us including 3 children ages 8, 16, and 18 - but the class and instructor was great for all of them. The instructor was very engaging and attentive to ensure each of my children and I were able to contribute to different parts of the cooking. We sampled our food along the way with the adults able to taste a white, rose and red wine. Afterwards, we enjoyed eating the dishes along with several glasses of wine, including a local red and a dessert wine. The kids really enjoyed the variety of dishes and the owner invited us down to the cellar to see how the wine was made and stored. Finally, we were driven to the 41 Club on Perivolos beach where we enjoyed a couple hours on the beach with a luscious fruit salad and drinks. Truly wonderful experience!
Chris the chef was amazing! This class was the highlight of our entire Greece vacation. We learned so much from Chris and enjoyed the food. After our class and dinner, we even were able to enjoy a winery tour. The trip to the beach was a distance to travel, but we enjoyed the drinks and fruit at the beach.
This cooking class was so much fun! My husband and I were lucky enough to have the class to ourselves too. Chris was our Chef and he was very experienced, kind, professional, and funny. We made many dishes and learned the proper techniques to cook the food while also keeping it traditional. This was by far our favorite experience and excursion. 10/10 would recommend and would absolutely do it again. Thank you Chef Chris and also thank you Phillip for being so awesome during our time in Santorini! :)
Angel’s shuttle service was top notch and the cooking experience with Chef Chris at Artemis Karamolegos Winery was so much fun for our family (children 22 and 19). We bought the package that was just cooking and eating so plan on 3 hours+. The winery is beautiful and the cooking room as well. (6 total in our class). We were welcomed with a glass of wine and then sipped on wine during class and then got to sit in the dining area to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Highly recommend.
The chef made the experience amazing! Very informative while also personable. Did this on our honeymoon. The chef walked us through everything, but we chopped all ingredients and cooked all the food. It was delicious! After we had our meal and a bottle of wine included. We then had a car that transferred us to the black beach for cocktails and that was amazing as well.
The shuttle driver was on time and friendly. The location is stunningly beautiful. It was just the four of us, so we could relax and go at our own pace. The food was delicious, not complicated do we could make this again. The kids said it was the perfect was day of our vacation before heading home.
We attended the Cooking lesson & Cocktails on the beach experience on 10/9. However, the class was not a hands-on class as expected, but rather a cooking demonstration. The people in the class did not make an array of Greek dishes or take in the stunning island views during our tour as described. We sliced and diced some tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. The chef did the actual cooking. We did receive wine before and during the class. Aside from the Greek salad, the remaining entrees at our dinner were not prepared during class. We did not receive a fruit salad or a cocktail at the beach bar. In fact we never saw the beach at all. The description for this event was totally misleading and in my view, deceitful. Everyone in the class should have their money refunded.
We highly recommend the cooking demonstration. The chef was fun and engaging and the food was abundant and delicious. We were so full of food and wine at the end that we decided to skip cocktails on the beach. We will definitely do this again if we have the opportunity to return to Santorini in the future.
Excellent excursion! Beach and beach club were great. Cooking class was fantastic. Chef was energetic, funny, helpful/informative. Food was great. And the wine was as well. A good amount of food prepared and eaten! Drivers were punctual. Itinerary ran like clockwork. Thanasis, who coordinated everything, was extremely responsive and helpful during booking and afterwards.
My adult daughter and I attended the Aroma Avlis cooking class with one other pair, a honeymooning couple. Intimate, engaging, fun and absolutely delicious. Plentiful food, shared recipes, a lot of hands on guidance. This was a highlight of our two week trip to Croatia and Greece. The local wine was wonderful and the icing was the trip to Forty-One Beach Club with mojitos, chaise lounges by the Adriatic and macrame umbrellas. SO MUCH FUN! Will do this activity again when next in Santorini.
We loved the cooking class! would highly recommend it!! It was the highlight of our trip. However, I had also paid for cocktails on the beach and after we had finished the cooking class and had a great meal and were super excited to finish the day with a cocktail, the driver asked if we even wanted to go and made it seem like it was an inconvenience when I said yes I had paid and wanted to go he took us to a beach and told a person there to let us sit down and then left, and no one ever spoke to us, no drinks were offered!! It was horrible. I walked the beach a bit and then asked for our ride back to the hotel- That was a total waste and ended the day on a sour note. This was a very nice beach that should have been a great ending - If I had just done the cooking class I would give this 5 stars!! DO NOT INCLUDE COCKTAILS ON BEACH!!!!
This is misleading. The chef lessons were great and the food was as well. However, we thought the adventure was going to end with cocktails and a sunset. Unfortunately it was 1 Virgin strawberry drink and a view that did not include a sunset. Way to pricey for what you get.
From beginning to end it was amazing. The chef was entertaining and knowledgeable. The food was fabulous. Wine plentiful.

The cooking class was really great, enjoyed the chef, the food and the people taking the class. We signed up for the cooking lesson and cocktails on the beach. There was no beach, we were in the middle of the island (beautiful location just not what we expected) afterwards, the driver was going to take myself and my friend only for cocktails on the beach. I found out each of the guests taking the class signed up for a different experience .... so no one was going with us for the cocktails on the beach so we asked for the driver to drop us in FIRA. Just wasn't what I felt we signed up for... that is what was a little disappointing.
This cooking class was so wonderful, we loved all of it. Chef Chris and Philip were so kind, fun, and genuine. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to the class that is in such a beautiful setting, taught how to make 4 dishes, and then given a tour through the wine cellar. At the end we were served the full meal of what we just learned on a beautiful terrace. You can’t go wrong with this, such a worthwhile experience!
This was a great experience! The chef and the staff were lovely! The food and wine and entire experience is 100% worth it. You get a full meal following the class and have some taste tests throughout the class as well as delicious wine! I highly recommend it!
Fantastic and fun! We had a private cooking class with the most entertaining chef. We adored him and learned a few things! Then, enjoyed a dinner of all of our dishes. Incredible evening with extra attention to details; like a private look at the wine rooms.
First rate excursion. First we were taken to an amazing bar and their day beds along the blank sandy beach. It was an excellent way to see a different part of the island. The drinks were great and a massive fruit salad was included. We were then taken to a winery for a cooking class. The wine was flowing and good. The cooking class was a lot of fun. Chef Chris and the other people there were top notch. The food was yummy and plentiful. A first rate experience and would book again.
The class was pretty easy and even amateurs can make nice dishes. The local white wine was amazing!! Everyone was really friendly and fun. A must do in Santorini!!
This was an absolute must-do! The organizers were punctual, super friendly, and accommodating, and the food was spectacular. If you're looking for an opportunity to try all the most storied foods of Santorini, this is it. The chef explained the history of each dish and ingredient, and we all had a chance to get our hands messy with prep and cooking. Be sure to come when you're hungry.. there's a TON of food! Really exceptional time.
