Itinerary
Firostefani offers the same breathtaking view of the Caldera as the capital but in a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere. This is what makes it an excellent option for a stay. It is only a 15-minute walk from the center of Fira, meaning you can plunge into the nightlife from the central city but still get some peace. The coastal path between Firostefani and Fira is an excellent and popular walk, especially in the early morning or evening when it is not too hot. There are many restaurants, bars and shops in the village itself, mainly along the main street, so even if you don't plan to leave the resort, you have everything you need right on the doorstep, it would be a little vain to have Fira so close and not go there at least once.
Imerovigli is the perfect choice for a secluded, romantic holiday filled with tranquility. It forms an impressive landscape of whitewashed houses, flowers, and cobblestone alleys. You can wander peaceful, paved paths away from the hustle and bustle. It promises priceless, relaxing moments and a view you can't resist. Here, you can relax in traditional taverns, restaurants, and cafes with beautiful terraces. Take unforgettable photos while admiring the famous Caldera of Santorini from a different point of view. Since Imerovigli is a preserved traditional settlement, the architectural style of the buildings remains unchanged, mainly in Cycladic and mainly local Firai style. Today, Imerovigli is one of the most developed tourist destinations in Santorini, with first-class hotels, restaurants, and other shops, which are visited by tens of thousands of people around the world every year.
Oia in Santorini is the most famous village of the island, known worldwide for its unique sunset when the sun sinks into the blue sea behind the volcano. It is located in the northern part of the caldera at an altitude of about 120 meters. It stretches from the west to the east coast in this narrow island. Charming whitewashed houses, churches with blue domes, and wonderful buildings with harmonious colors create a fascinating landscape. The old village has now effectively united the small towns such as Tolos, Phoenicia, and the small settlement around Paradisos Beach. Towards the caldera, you will find Amudi and Armeni, two small bays ideal for swimming. It is also called pano (upper) or Ano Meria precisely because it is the northernmost village and about 1000 people live there.
The monastery of the prophet Elijah is built at about 565 meters above sea level, making it the island's highest point. Thus, it becomes clear that the view from there is unparalleled. Enjoy exclusive views of the island and its surroundings and take amazing photos. Especially at sunset, you will find yourself in a state of delight.
The village of Pyrgos in Santorini is the highest mountain settlement of the island. It is located on the slopes of Prophet Elijah Mountain and offers 360-degree views of the mainland, volcano, and sea. Many consider him the hidden gem of Santorini, as he managed to distance himself from the radical development of tourism and clusters of travelers. Megalochori is a picturesque, lively village with friendly, lively inhabitants. The central square is the heart of the town, where locals gather in traditional cafes to relax and have fun, creating a warm atmosphere. It is worth spending an evening here to experience this mood and try local dishes in the natural shade of the trees. Traditional taverns, cafes, and shops can also be found in other parts of the village
The red beach in Akrotiri is undoubtedly worth a visit. It is a rare sight, probably unique worldwide, where red is the dominant color. It is surrounded by steep red hills that create a captivating, wild landscape. If you stand on the top, you will see substantial volcanic rocks in the sea, small pebbles and sand of various colors, mainly red, all over the beach, and attractive dark blue waters.
Since Santorini is not known for its beautiful beaches, Perissa Beach is a pleasant surprise. Perissa is a magnificent beach, covered with black volcanic sand, and it is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling. It is located on the southeastern coast of Santorini and extends at the base of the massive cape Mesa Vuno, sharply projecting into the sea. At the top of the mountain is the ancient city of Thira. Perissa is one of the island's most cosmopolitan beaches, stretching for miles. It merges with Perivolos Beach; together, it is a beach with a length of more than 7 kilometers. The water is obvious; there is a gentle descent and a beautiful color. The coarse black sand is pleasant to walk on and sparkles like sparkles, but it can be hot in the summer.
Akrotiri village is home to two historical treasures that are the village's main attractions. One of them is the archaeological site of Akrotiri, a very important prehistoric city of the Aegean Sea that is completely worth a visit. You can walk through it and see frescoes, artifacts, furniture, modern drainage systems, and even multi-story buildings from the Bronze Age.

Themis had great communication and was really helpful before I even booked the tour. He included a water taxi so we could avoid the cable cars and donkeys. He provided so much information about the history of Santorini up until present day. My father has a hard time walking long distances and stairs and Themis was patient and helped him along the way. My whole family (7 of us) loved our day in Santorini- starting with the private water taxi to Oia, the beautiful villages and scenery, the monastery, the delicious lunch that ended with a couple of hours on a black sand beach, and then the water taxi that brought us back to Fira. Themis kept us from the crowds but we still were able to see all of the highlights. I didn't realize when I booked with Themis, but it made all the difference with it being private and being able to customize it to what my father was able to do and what interested us. My kids still talk about Themis because he was so engaging and explained so much. His pricing even with the water taxi included was less than other group tours without a water taxi. This was our favorite tour on our trip- highly recommend!!!
What amazing day with Haris. Perfect if you are limited on time with your stay in Santorini to see the whole island • Great guided tour from a pure local • Knowledge of secret spots for the best photos without the crowds • End the day with a great restaurant by the beach- tomato fritters are a must have!! Don’t look anywhere for your day tour. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Travelling around Santorini as a family of six was a great way to make the most of our private day on the island. The guide planned the stops around the busy areas and also took us to some quieter viewpoints where we could enjoy the scenery and take photos without feeling surrounded by crowds. Walking through Fira was a nice change of pace, while the sunset stop was chosen at just the right time. Hotel pickup and drop-off also made things easier for the whole family. Santorini Tours provided a relaxed way to explore different parts of the island while still having time to enjoy each stop together. 🌅
Good day with a driver and tour guide. Thank you
Nikos was our guide and he was very knowledgeable, he is local and his family is from the island, we love the tour! We had the best time getting to make it our own and we got Some Of the best photos of our trip here. So relaxed and easy!.
If you have never been to Santorini this is a great overview of the island. Our guide took us to all the picture worthy locations.
We love Santorini and when this was one of the stops on our cruise, my wife booked this tour which pretty much covered what it says, the best areas including a stop at a winery. We meet our guide, Nicolas exactly as arranged. There were 4 of us, which included our 6'4" son, daughter-in-law, my wife and myself. Was very happy we had a huge, air-conditioned new Mercedes Passenger van so we had plenty of room. I'm sorry I didn't make this review two months ago, but lost the card until now. I cannot say enough about this tour and ESPECIALLY NICOLAS the guide. Here's the main reasons. He knew short cuts around the lines that no other tours were taking and there were long lines everywhere. To get into Oia, the line of tours was across the street to the parking lot. We walked right past them. They all went one way, one group at a time. Nicolas took us the other direction and we ended up right in front of that 1st tour group and we went thru the most amazing part of Oia that we've never seen before and really had an unbelievable tour of Oia. Next we went to places in Santorini, again long lines. Again we walked another way coming up right to the church where everyone was headed but waited hours to get to. We went to the Monistary on the highest point on the island and then to the Lighthouse at the other end of the island. DON'T walk buy the little cafe there you walk by to get to the lighthouse. Fantastic food (2nd time for me as I waited the entire trip for their huge beef hot dog). Of course we went to many more places and his pride and knowledge of the island and sites amazed us. The absolute best part of having Nicolas was this. He never let us take a photo or selfie. He took every camera and took all the photos with us in them. That's something I always do as I can buy postcards if I just wanted the site. I highly recommend taking this tour and ask for him but I'm sure the way this guy was, the tour operator teaches them all right.
Harry was an amazing guide, a skilled driver, and very professional. We truly enjoyed every moment of the trip. If you're looking for a private tour, we highly recommend it!
Haris was an excellent guide, and the Mercedes was fantastic. Great driver, even better conversation. The restaurant he recommended on the black beach was excellent. My only complaint, each of us only got one bottle of water, but that's not enough for me to give this less than 5 stars. Highly recommend.
From the first email, Santorini Tours impressed us with quick communication and clear information. Our private six hour tour was easy to personalize, so we could visit the places that interested us most without feeling rushed. Our guide, Themis, arrived right on time and made the entire day enjoyable with his friendly attitude and professionalism. He shared interesting stories about Santorini's history, local traditions and culture while taking us through beautiful villages, famous viewpoints and historic locations. Every stop felt worthwhile because he explained the background of each place in a simple and engaging way. The vehicle was clean and comfortable, and the relaxed pace gave us enough time to enjoy every location. The whole experience felt well organized, informative and completely stress free. If you want to discover the real beauty of Santorini with a knowledgeable local guide, Santorini Tours is an excellent choice. This is a tour we will always remember."
We booked a 6-hour private Santorini tour, and it was a wonderful way to explore the island without feeling rushed. The itinerary felt personalized, and every stop was enjoyable. It cost a little more than expected, but the flexibility and overall experience made it feel worthwhile.
My partner and I booked this 6-hour private tour during our first visit to Santorini and had a wonderful experience. Mary was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire trip enjoyable from start to finish. We explored a historic area, visited several beautiful locations across the island, and enjoyed some truly breathtaking views along the way. What stood out most was Mary's local knowledge and positive attitude. She also helped us take some fantastic photos that we’ll always remember. The tour was well organized, relaxing, and a great way to discover Santorini in a limited amount of time. Highly recommended.
BIG thank you to Nicolas, our tour guide. Knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and flexible! This tour may cost a little more than some of the others, but the extra expense was worth it.
Great experience and a nice trip with my family 😊
Man, there is no way I can sum up how amazing this tour was that will do it true justice. Nik was professional, knowledgeable, and HILARIOUS! It was an easy trip in a comfortable Mercedes van. He provided plenty of water for everyone which was perfect since it was hot and humid that day. Then he acted as our own private photographer! He caught us in the most stunning views imaginable! To sum it up the best I can, if you want a true experience, Nikos Tsioulos is your guy! Five stars is a complete undersell on how fantastic this trip was!
We had an absolutely fantastic private tour of Santorini and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our tour guide was outstanding—friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the island’s culture, history, and traditions. They took the time to explain not only the famous sights, but also the stories and local way of life that make Santorini so special. We visited beautiful viewpoints, charming villages, and hidden spots we never would have found on our own. The tour felt personal, relaxed, and tailored to our interests, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and take photos. If you’re visiting Santorini and want to truly understand the island beyond the postcard views, this private tour is absolutely worth it. It was one of the highlights of our trip and left us with a much deeper appreciation for Santorini. Highly recommended!
Nicholas was a great guide. Personable and friendly. Extremely knowledgeable and took the time to make all of those in our group comfortable. From the secret picture locations to the back way into Santorini’s most famous picture location. Then we went to some of the less touristy spots that weee amazing too. Wine tasting and ending at the lighthouse and beaches, it was a beautiful day.
Gina was a wonderful tour guide! She designed the tour to what we wanted!! We saw the blue domes, Oia, mules. Went to a delightful outdoor winery. Walked thru the old town and got gelato.
Nicolas did a wonderful tour for us! He was very knowledgeable and easy to spend the day with! I would definitely ask for him by name if you are considering booking a tour!
We had an amazing day with our personal tour guide, Haris. He brought us to various sites in Santorini and provided enlightening information on the historical importance of these sites. He was very flexible and accommodating. We ended in a restaurant that was recommended by him near the black beach that was fantastic. Great tour overall!
Oleg was a great guide and a very nice person. He took us around oia and other beautiful places around Santorini. After we had a delicious lunch he recommended. I will recommend this tour.
Great tour very friendly and great experience very knowledgeable answer all your questions it was great
We had a great time on this tour. Maria gave us a lot of information about the island, its history, what life is like for locals, and more. It was a fun opportunity to see different places on the island and explore areas we never would have thought to go to on our own.
Another wonderful trip with Viator and Guide to remember for all Eternity!! Our guide Kenso was really special. He taught us a great deal about the city and its history and culture. He made sure we didn’t miss anything of importance!!From the city to the countryside we had some of the best views and great opportunities to take some great photos!! Our tour with Adam in Santorini was absolutely fantastic! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience unforgettable. Adam shared so many interesting stories and local insights that really brought the island to life. He made sure we were comfortable the whole time and took us to the most beautiful spots — both the famous ones and a few hidden gems. His passion for Santorini truly shines through, and his easygoing personality made the day so enjoyable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide — highly recommend Adam to anyone visiting Santorini!
Harris was a wonderful guide, full of knowledge and history. he took us to all the must see places without feeling rushed, took lots of pictures of us and was extremely polite. Last stop was black sand beach for a delicious lunch at a restaurant he recommended, so delicious. Highly recommend this tour and Harris .
Absolutely great! Saw the whole island & learned about its history, volcano, vineyards & FOOD. Harris was very knowledgeable & friendly
Action packed day with amazing views - just be ready for big crowds. Our guide was amazing. She was pleasant to the crowds yet assertive to get us right where we needed to be. We left our ship on 7:30 tender and had no wait for cable cars. So many excellent photos!
Our visit to Santorini was perfect, thanks to Harris. From the moment he picked us up at the top of the cable car, to when he dropped us back off 6 hours later, his knowledge and expertise were on display. We like having historical, geographical and cultural information about an area, and as a lifelong resident of Santorini he was easily able to share all of this. We were able to go to all the important places and get all the great photos before the crowds arrived. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch at a place he recommended on the Black Sand Beach. All in all it was a spectacular day in Santorini. Thank you, Harris!
Santorini is beautiful but very crowded. This was a great tour, lots of free time. Lots of good information. Our guide was Christina and did a great job
We loved our tour with Harris! He showed us so many parts of Santorini that we would have never seen on our own.! We got into places that regular tourists could never get into so quickly! I'm so glad I booked this tour because we were only in port for 1 day, but I really feel like we saw the very best of Santorini! Our guide Harris was amazing!
The tour was great! Our guide arrived at our meeting point promptly with a sparkling clean car. Being a native of Santorini, he was able to give us great insights into the island and its history. He was vet pleasant, great sense of humor, and excellent English.
The tour was excellent. Harris took us all around the island to see all the hot spots of Santorini. He was very considerate and dropped us off when he went to park the car because of the parking situation. We saw some amazing sights and he took us to a great place for lunch where the locals go. I would highly recommend this tour.
Our tour guide in Santorini was fantastic. He was a native of the island and very informative. He knew all the hidden areas and took us to every spot that was picturesque. We managed to see the entire island in 6 hours and found new spots for lunch and a beach to return.
Harris did an amazing job with our tour. This is one of the very best tours my husband and I have been on and we have been on many tours. We saw Oia, Fira, beautiful landscapes and buildings, beaches, a traditional cave, and learned a ton about Santorini’s history. Harris took some wonderful pictures of us and gave us an excellent lunch recommendation overlooking the black sand beach. Harris was an exceptional tour guide.
As a group of friends we had an amazing time on this trip. The driver was always there to pick us up in the air conditioned mini van and joined in with some of the jokes. Our tour guide Fyllio was so knowledgeable about the history and geology of the island being a local. Her English was fantastic and knowing the local area and people, meant we were able to get some fantastic photos. She showed us a great wee spot for lunch. Highly recommend asking for her and no hesitations recommending.
This was spectacular. We had a great tour guide that shared the best highlights of Santorini. He was very knowledgeable. He knew how to get past the big lines and take advantage of the sites before the crowds showed up. Took us to some an excellent restaurant to have lunch Mario. He was amazing. Really got to enjoy the city plus he knew where to go for the best picture spots and was always willing to take our picture. Not everyone will do that. Loved our experience.
We did the "6 Hour Best of Santorini Private Experience" which was amazing. Our guide was Haris who was born in Santorini and was a perfect guide. Went to Oia, walked the steps down to Ammoudi Bay, saw the amazing views from Imerovigli, went up the mountain to the Prophet Ilias monastery, Megalochori village, red beach (amazing scenery!) and black beach. We had a great mix of walking on our own and also walking with Haris. He always told us where and when to meet him if we were on our own. Whilst driving, Haris gave us so much information about the places we were visiting as well as the island. Hard to believe he never got taught English, and only learnt it from watching films! Highly recommend this tour. It was a great way to see the island in a guided way, and as we did it early in our trip it meant we had the opportunity to visit some of the places again afterwards on our own and everything felt much easier.
We had an excellent experience. Our guide was kind and patient. She was very knowledgeable about the history and the best places to visit.
Amazing tour. Kenzo was so insightful and informative. He really knows his local culture and sights. He took us to all the best places around Santorini.
Our tour guide Christina and driver Alex were professional, knowledgeable and wonderful! We were a group of three generations and we were all satisfied. Highly recommend this tour!
Harris was our tour guide. He was very professional and knowledgeable about the city. We were able to see everything we wanted to see on the island. Harris recommended a fantastic place for dinner on the black sand beach. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. We can’t wait to come back again someday.
We had an amazing tour of Santorini with Santorini. Miriam was amazing with our group of 10 - she was great with both the young kids in our group as well as the older adults. She was extremely knowledgeable, kind and patient. When my mother wasn’t feeling well during the tour, she was so patient, kind and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking to see the sights of Santorini!
We loved every minute of this private tour. Our driver, Harris, took us to see some of the hidden gems of Santorini while telling us the history of the island. From the monastery on the mountain to the red sand beach, we felt as if we had seen so much more than we could have on our own. We would recommend this tour and Harris to anyone visiting Santorini. We had a fantastic private tour of Santorini with Muriel as our guide and Dimitri as our driver. Traveling with a toddler and an infant isn’t always easy, but they made it feel effortless. They thoughtfully paced the tour to suit our family, yet we still saw all the highlights—and so much more. Muriel shared fascinating insights about Greece and the island’s history, and made sure to personalize the experience with stops and recommendations tailored to our interests, including amazing food spots. She was especially kind and patient with our toddler, answering his many questions and showing him so much grace when he was tired. Dimitri’s driving was smooth and safe, the car was spotless and comfortably air-conditioned, and they were both always on time and professional. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. We’re so grateful to Muriel and Dimitri for making it not only memorable, but also relaxing and enjoyable for the whole family.
Muriel was an excellent guide, very informative and friendly. She knew where all the best photos could be taken and adapted our tour to suit us. There were only 4 of us which was great as we could get from place to place quickly without waiting for anyone else.
The tour was excellent. The guide was very accommodating of our custom list of places that we wanted to visit. The guide was extremely polite, respectful and knowledgeable. He provided us with lots of information about Thira (aka Santorini). We would highly recommend this tour.
Great experience! I would recommend to anyone to take the private tour. You will see the entire island.
This tour is a must if you want to explore the island. Our tour guide was amazing and gave us much information about the island and the Greek culture. I would highly recommend this excursion.
