We had considered staying in Valparaiso and decided instead to stay in Santiago and take a day tour. This one was perfect - it ended up just being the two of us, Julio picked us up at our hotel at 8am and drove us down to Valparaiso for a 90-min walk around the historic part of town. Since we were two younger people he was happy to walk with us and took us on some extra loops to see different parts of the town. So beautiful despite the grey weather, Valparaiso is a beautiful but a little gritty seaside town - don’t expect perfect beauty! Julio had switched up the order of the tour for us considering that it was a Sunday and there were some political happenings to make sure we were doing things at the safest time of day. Later, when a part of the coast road was closed for a fun run he was able to quickly offer some great alternatives to us. After a leisurely stop for a lovely lunch we drove partway back to Santiago for the winery stop. This was truly excellent and we bought several bottles to drink later. Would 100% recommend this to anyone, such an expert guide can take great care of you and offer a customized day that lets you see and learn so much more than you could by yourself!

Itinerary
In a modern, air-conditioned vehicle, accompanied by a bilingual local guide and a professional driver, your tour starts from 8 am. (the pick-up time will be informed the day before the service, before 9:00 p.m.). Once all the participants have gathered, we will go to Valparaíso and Viña del Mar along Route 69 for around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
You will stop in front of the Fonk Museum, in the heart of the city of Viña del Mar, together with the guide, to observe closely one of the few Moai that remain outside of Easter Island. It has already been confirmed that this solitary Moai will soon be returned to the island of Rapa Nui... you can't miss it.
You will be able to photograph yourself in the famous Flower Clock of Viña del Mar. This is a gardened clock, symbol of the city, which is located at the foot of the Castillo hill, in front of the Caleta Abarca spa.
You will stop for a moment on this beautiful avenue that runs along the Viña del Mar waterfront, where you can appreciate the Pacific Ocean in all its splendor, as well as the buildings that surround the boardwalk, such as the Presidential Summer Palace and the castle Wulff.
Declared a typical zone of the country, the Plaza Sotomayor will concentrate your attention since the Armada de Chile building (declared a historical monument) and a statue to the greatest Chilean naval hero (Arturo Prat) are located there.
Explore Valparaíso’s historic waterfront, where local boats, harbor views, and port activity reveal the city’s deep maritime identity.
Located on Cerro Concepcion, it was built in 1902 and is part of the old town of Valparaiso (UNESCO heritage). It is currently still in operation and you can climb on it to descend to the city map.
With a striking architecture that represents German and English settlers who once inhabited this neighborhood (from the beginning of the 19th century), Cerro Alegre is a heritage neighborhood of the city that you can explore on a walk of about 1 hour. The guide will be in charge of showing you the most incredible trails, full of mural art and curiosities, as well as beautiful viewpoints towards the Pacific Ocean
Another of the most visited places in Valparaiso is Cerro Concepcion (previously called Cerro de Nuestra Señora de la Concepción). Inside the hill, the viewpoints with spectacular views of the bay stand out, such as those of the Pierre Loty, Atkinson and Gervasoni promenades.
Viewpoint walk nestled in the Alegre hill, from which you can see all of Valparaiso
Building built in 1916 and home to the municipal museum of Valparaiso, it is an unmissable place that you can meet with the guide on our tour of the city.
Located in the heart of Cerro Alegre, the Pasaje Bavestrello is one of the most interesting buildings in the port of Valparaíso. This is a small part that passes through a singular construction. It was built in 1926 and is accessed through Urriola Leighton Street, located a few steps from the Baburizza Palace on Cerro Concepción.
You will arrive in this beautiful valley, internationally recognized for its excellent wine production, to experience an exquisite wine tasting (included in the price of the tour) in a beautiful local vineyard. You can also learn about Chilean wine with the expert guide.

Excellent tour. Pick up was timely. Route to destination was long but scenery. The views to mountains and the Pacific were gorgeous. Both, Viña & Valparaiso, while different, were beautiful and picturesque. We had dinner in Valparaiso and it was excellent. The last stop was a wine tasting and it was not disappointing. Don’t hesitate booking this tour.
This is an incredible experience you don’t want to miss. The view of the Pacific Ocean, the coastline of Viña del Mar and Valparaíso were breathtaking. Walking down the streets of Valparaíso helped us get a feel of the place. There is so much art everywhere! We saw Pablo Neruda’s house! We had a delicious lunch at a wonderful restaurant suggested by our incredible tour guide, Julio. He is very knowledgeable about Chile and all the places we visited today. Our tour ended with a visit and a wine tasting at RE winery in Casablanca! We highly recommend this tour!
Our guide was very accommodating! The weather turned out to be cold and rainy, and we were ill prepared...so he kindly dropped us at Ripley's so we could purchase fleece tracksuits, even though it meant he had to fight traffic. He recommended a fantastic place for lunch. As for Vina del Mar and Valparaiso...I wasn't thrilled by either. Unfortunately the weather prevented us from walking the beach and Valparaiso was simply gritty and not that interesting. At the end of the day, not worth the money nor the long drive.
Julio was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of Chile and specifically Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar. We had a lovely full day with a seaside lunch in Vina Del Mar and ending with a wine tasting at Emiliana Organic Vineyard. Highly recommend!
The tour visits Vina Del Mar the beach city and also Valparaiso. having visited here before I found the review of Valparaiso most interesting. Valparaiso is an old and new port city in Chile that is being gentrified.
Julio was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and showed us a wonderful day. Great history about Chile. Julio not only speaks great English but continues to add to his knowledge of Chile and its history/culture.
Valparaiso is not terribly exciting. I know there is history there, however I would have preferred walking around Santiago more so. The stop off at the winery was a blast though.
Julio is very well knowledgeable about the region in Viña Del Mar, Valparaiso and Casa Blanca. Shared lots of I formation about the geography and took us to many lugares interesantes. El era un compañero divertido. Teri
Fantastic, filled with interesting alleys and painted steps and lookout points. And the beaches are surreal.
Julio is not only a passionate tour guide, but also a proud Chilean citizen. He is like an enthusiastic host showing his guests the best of what he has in his house, with pride and passion. It’s great to have him with us in this excursion.
A great tour, saw the inner workings of the city, with in-depth commentary on history, and many scenic and phot opportunities. Leonardo was an epic host, his knowledge and patience was much appreciated. The wine tasting at the beautiful Viña Casas Del Bosque was a particular highlight, as was the lunch at Viña Del Mar. Highly recommended.
It is a great tour to see Valparaiso and Vina del Mar. The vineyard is beautiful and the wine very good. Our driver Leonardo definitely knows the area very well, is very knowledgeable and showed us a lot of cool places. Highly recommended.
Leonardo, our guide was amazing. He treated us like family and was culturally astute about Chile’s history and that of Valparaiso. He went out of his way to accommodate us by going to our pace and answering all our questions. From pick up to drop off Leonardo was like a first class concierge tending to all our needs. And yes, his English was very good.
Our guide Julio, did an excellent job of bringing this beautiful seaport city to life with facts about its history, anecdotes of its citizens and why this seafaring town is so important. We walked many districts, saw the city from many perspectives and truly got a wonderful sense of the communities who are served both in Vina Del Mar as well as Valparaiso. Our tour visited a bucolic winery in Casablanca that served local wines that preserved the region’s unique climate through its distinctive flavors. A wonderful tour guide and a wonderful sampling of life outside Santiago.
We had such an amazing time on this tour! From start to finish, everything was well-organized and stress-free. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made the history and culture of the area come alive with great stories and fun facts.
Antonio was the absolute best guide! We had a great day and I am definitely recommending this trip to others when they visit Santiago. The streets of Valparaiso are gorgeous, and Antonio did a great job of explaining the murals, their meanings, and their history in *4 LANGUAGES* (we had English, Spanish, Italian, and French speakers on our tour). We saw sea lions, and The wine at Emiliana is great - my ONLY complaint is that we didn't get to learn more about the production of the wine, but then again, this wasn't a wine-specific tour we booked. One suggestion for future travelers: during the lunch stop, head towards the water. We stayed in the middle of town, and while the food was fantastic, we learned too late that there were much better views for eating than we experienced (this is not the fault of Antonio - this is just a personal opinion).
Guide did not speak English well and mispronounced many words. Very frustrating as hard to understand. Used his phone constantly to show things that couldn’t be seen from back of bus!
Apparently, this company doesn't operate their own vans and guides. Instead they just book inquiries onto whatever free lance tour has openings. This means there is no quality control. Our guide, Nacho, was unfortunately not up to the task. His English is very rough and trying to understand him as he talked endlessly was exhausting. Then he would walk really fast leaving the ground struggling to keep up. When he would talk about a point on the tour he wouldn't wait for the group but I stead would just fire off a few words to whomever happened to be close, usually only two or three people out of the eleven in the group. Overall. He did not create a positive feeling in the group nor the friendly sense of bonding that happened with all the other group tour I took during my stay. Seems the best way to avoid this kind of tour fiasco is to book with one of the more established agencies. Oh, almost forgot... the tour never showed up the first time...wasted a whole day of my vacation. I let them rebook me because it was already paid for but then I had to remind them the evening before the rebooked tour or they wouldn't have shown for that one either.
There are so many things that can be improved on this day trip: - guide needs to speak better English and have better history knowledge - tour was mixed Spanish and English guests: really bad as you loose a lot of time doing dual descriptions. Stick to either English or Spanish - listening to your guests is a must: don’t just focus on schedule without considering what your guests suggest - don’t force ‘group’ picture taking, we are all strangers and are not much into ‘group’ activities Best part of the day trip was Emiliana vineyard, really amazing wines.
Very nice views guide took his time and was very knowledgeable Gave us a good synopsis of history of to the of cities. Tour was very Educational and informative .views were very nice. City has a bohemian feel Highly recommended
Very informative, our guide was enthusiastic to show us around and answered all our questions. Highly recommend!
We had the most wonderful day with our guide, Rose, who showed us so many cool places. It was the best day we had in Santiago. Thank you, Rose!
Overall a nice trip to visit two cities on the coast of Chile. Rose our tour guide did a nice job of informing us of the importance aspects of the sites we visited and kept us safe and on time during the three hour walking tour. Would recommend.
Very well organised tour. Julio was very informative and we felt well looked after. Valparaiso is an amazing city. The street art is unbelievable. Viña del Mar is a beautiful resort with a lovely sandy beach and lots of restaurants. We were able to see some sea lions, pelicans and cormorants too, near Valparaiso. Our tour ended with wine tasting in Casablanca.
Fantastic day trip from Santiago. It was exactly as described, we visited Valparaiso and Vina Mar and a winery. Our guide Julio was fun and entertaining and knowledgeable.
Fabulous trip with great host Julio. He brought us to see so many interesting places in Valpo. Both the culture and history was amazing and the art deco was amazing. His knowledge was outstanding. We had just 3 couples including ourselves on trip which was great. We had great chats and banter with the ither 2 couples. And of course the Casablanca wine tour was great to finish off a perfect day.
My wife and I booked a private tour to Valpraiso and Vine del Mar. These cities are much larger than we thought they would be. Of the two, Valpraiso is the more interesting with its murals, colorful houses and views of the ocean from the hills. Ignacio was our guide; Camilla our driver and they both were excellent.
The tour was worthwhile but it is focused on Valparaiso and does not include the beautiful waterfront of Viña del Mar. Wandering through the murals of Valparaiso was the best part. They are colourful, varied and often have a political reference both past and present. The hill city is a UNESCO listing and the architecture a real mixture. Given the incredible electrical wiring, dozens of wires per pole it a miracle anything works, but it does.
A great way to see Valparaiso if you're short of time. Our guide Julio was excellent and led the tour well with insights into both Santiago and Chile itself. The only one comment is that the wine tasting wasn't really a proper wine tasting. We waited for ages to be seated then served and a bottle of white then red was plonked on the table without any real explanation as to the wines and we had to ask. Unfortunately the man who served us didn't really speak English. Amongst the 5 of us we just enjoyed two bottles of wine and a chat. Valparaiso is a beautiful place to see and well worthwhile a visit.
Fantastic day trip. We were a small group of 6 and our guide, Julio, was outstanding. He was informative and provided the perfect pacing to a busy day. His guided walking tour of Valparaiso was fantastic. Trio is worth it!
We had a great time with the other people and Julio was the consummate host…charming, solicitous, professional and engaging. The weakest part of the tour was the wine tasting. It was not the best winery in the valley.
We really enjoyed our day! Julio was an excellent guide. He provided so much insight into the country and locale. He was very accommodating and even stopped at the post office for us. Highly recommend!
Our guide Alessandro’s was very knowledgeable of Valparaiso and Viña. Took us around both towns explaining to us the history and current state of each.
I had a great tour with Esme. She was very knowledgeable about the city and the Valparaiso area. The tour did not feel rushed at all! We were also given options for lunch spots (rather than being herded to some tourist trap).
Our tour guide, Julio, was amazing, informative, kind and patient. We were a small group and he tailored the trip to meet our needs. The lunch in Vina Del Mar was incredible. My niece left a personal item in the van and he made an extra stop to make sure it was returned. Beautiful sights and company. Thanks so much!
Good tour. Great to see the street art of the city. Some great work. Our guide / driver was very competent and provided and interesting commentary.
I had such an amazing day. The tour is perfectly organized with great balance of culture and nature. Our guide Julio is amazing. So passionate and knowledgeable! Super comfortable van. The walking tour in Valparaiso is really nice. Julio did a great job managing time. Lunch is delicious. I enjoyed every minute.
This was a great experience! Julio was by far the best tour guide we had during our stay in Chile. He gave a great overview of the history, demographics, way of life of Chile and Valpo and discussed the top sites to see without over burdening us with too much extraneous information. Our excursion to Valpo, Vina Del Mar & Casablanca was fun and efficient. Julio effortlessly walked us to all the main sites with humorous explanations. Gabriel did a great job driving and got us to where we needed to be. I would recommend this excursion and tour group without reservation!
This was an awesome tour!! Got to see many murals and insane views in Valparaiso. Vina Del Mar was also amazing, we had lunch there (amazing btw). The wine tasting at the end also didn’t hurt.
A lovely tour and highly recommended. Wished we had more time to explore Valparaiso and Vina del Mar.
Not knowing much about Chilean tourism, we selected this day tour based on the popularity of the destinations. Initial impressions of Valparaiso were soon forgotten as we explored the upper streets of the city - the murals are colourful, abundant, and tell a story of the culture of the city. The visit to the fish market was special with a lively atmosphere. The recommendation from our guide for lunch in Vina del Mar was superb with views of the foreshore. Our short visit at the end of the day to Emiliana Winery (Casablanca valley) was a great way to finish the tour with two character-filled organic wines available to taste and a troop of lively alpacas ready to greet us. I was lucky to be wearing an old t-shirt when the fiesty alpaca snorted his dissatisfaction at my feeding technique.
A fascinating and fun day with Julio. A great, well informed guide who understands well the context of his explanations. Nice contemporary and historical aspects. Walking UNESCO neighborhoods IN Valparaiso was intriguing. . Our trip coincided with a religious holiday, so the stop in Casablanca was a no go. We were informed the day before and had the option to cancel, but we went anyway. Traffic was seriously impacted along the major road between Santiago and Valparaiso which resulted in a more scenic and rural trip back. A bonus handled well by Julio
Well organised tour, guide kept us well informed at all times. Pedro (guide) and Mataius (driver) were excellent. Pedro was particularly passionate about his job, informed us well with good information.
The guide and driver were awesome, I like the itinerary enjoyed entire day. Good mix of wine tasting, driving, walking through Valparaiso, time off...
A wonderful overview of the valleys and areas between Santiago and the Pacific Ocean. Our first stop was at a large scale winery/grocery store/ cafe. We were concerned this was going to be the wine tasting portion of our tour but although we did get to taste wine, it was a glorified bathroom stop lol. The tour of Valparaiso was incredible with our amazing guide Leo sharing lots of information and taking to some incredible sites. Lunch was as a delight as was the tour of Viña del Mar. our return to Santiago we stopped at an incredibly beautiful winery in the Casablanca valley. Had a great proper wine tasting and picked up a couple bottles. The day was jam packed but never felt rushed with ample time at each site. Leo was and incredible guide and after returning to the hotel and discussing with other travels about their Valparaiso tours through other companies….it seems like we had the best one. I would highly recommend it!
It’s around 4 hours of driving for the round trip. The driver/guide gave us some basic information- with short answers to questions if we asked about something. A nice man but his English wasn’t that good -so lots of quiet time. We would listen closely and figure out what he said. He didn't have much of a story to tell, a man of few words. Lunch (a la-carte) at the restaurant overlooking the Pacific was very nice. On the way back to Santiago we stopped at a beautiful winery. A woman came out, said “Hello”and placed two tasting glasses (red & white) on the front check-out counter between two busy cashiers. Then she said something (?) to our guide. She turned around & walked away, with no info about the winery or what we were tasting (other than red and white). The Wine Store was VERY busy with people trying to pay for their purchases, and we were caught in the middle of this, wrestling for counter space to grab our wine-tasting glasses. There were a few empty tasting rooms and counters nearby which would have made our experience in the winery much better. It would have been nice to learn about their wines and history of the winery. The grounds of the winery are beautiful - so we sat around outside 25-30 minutes until time to go. . We received a bottle of wine as a gift- that was NICE!
Our tour guide, Julio, took us on a very surprising and interesting walk on the streets of Valparaiso. I was very impressed of the "graffiti " art on the walls: so colorful and diverse. Also it was very unique to see the sea lions in Viña del Mar.
Excellent but please tell Daniel I didn't receive the photos so that would be great if he could share them
Our guide Julio was amazing. He picked us up in time and was friendly and knowledgeable. On the ride to Valparaiso he gave us some history and then took us on a great walking tour around town. We drove along the coast to see some beach towns, we had a nice lunch, and then had some time to be on the beach. We stopped at a cute winery on the way home. For those with a few days in Santiago and looking for a day trip Out of town, I would recommend this.
