The tour did not include a stop at San Alfonso del Mar, despite it being in the tour title. In addition, the itinerary lists stops in Casablanca and Algarrobo, but neither of those locations was included either. The experience consisted of a very courteous driver who took us to Isla Negra, where we visited the museum, and then dropped us off in Pomaire to explore on our own. There was no tour guide or guided experience at any point, except that provided by the Neruda museum headset. We raised the issue of the missing stops with the driver and the agency, but they stated that the tour only includes Isla Negra and Pomaire. If that is the case, the tour description should be updated, as it does not match what is currently advertised. Given the lack of a guide, the omission of two advertised stops, and the overall price, I would recommend renting a car and visiting these locations independently instead. The experience did not provide enough added value to justify the cost. That being said, Isla Negra and Pomaire are both worth visiting.

El Quisco has had a major development in the twentieth century primarily as a place of recreation and residence of important Chilean figures of arts, and culture, but few know their past
The origin of the word tabo possibly comes from the mapudungún tafü, cave found under the ground where the calcus (sorcerers) are formed and which, in addition, acts as their abode.
The Pablo Neruda Foundation is in charge of the preservacion and spreading of the artist’s heritage, they are in charge of three museums, houses that used to be inhabited by the poet. His getaway house in Isla Nera is the most popular, and Neruda’s favorite, and its filled with several personal objects and collections. When visiting you will be able to appreciate several manuscripts, books, bottles, seashells and enormous figureheads that Neruda recolected throughout his life.
Of its tourist attractions, the most popular are, of course, the beaches. The main one is Playa Chica (155 meters wide by 80 m long, with thick yellow sand), from which you can see many of the residences of the architectural heritage of Las Cruces; behind a roquerío below is the picturesque fishing cove.
Walking down the main street, stores overflowing with handmade clay ceramics — known as greda — line both sides for as far as you can see. This is perhaps what Pomaire is best known for. Everything is made from a distinctive clay—a rose tinted earthen mixture that is both warm and rustic. Artisans craft the clay into casserole dishes and bowls ideal for preparing traditional Chilean dishes like cazuela, porotos, and of course, pastel de choclo. In fact, if your pastel de choclo is cooked in anything other than a Pomaire dish, it is not quite authentic.

This experience was neither good nor bad. It just did not align with what was described in the posting. The driver skipped the first two stops and really was just a driver, not a guide. He did not tell us anything about the stops or the places we passed along the way. Isla Negra and Pomaire were great and I highly recommend visiting them, but you’d be better off renting your own car than booking this experience. It would be much cheaper. All around, not worth the expense at all.
Amazing experience, chile tradition dances, etc. Super recommend it!!!
Great experience! Awesome place.
Driver was very knowledgeable about Chile we went a lot a neat places. Going to the ocean and driving through Chile was very enlightening.
Jaime was outstanding! Loved the museum. Lunch was very good! Highly recommend!!! Take the tour! Learned a great deal.
it was a beautiful day ! #ilovechileanparty
Many last minute changes were made without letting us know beforehand, and more than half of the itinerary was NOT accomplished. It was obvious that planning between MTO-Tours & the driver was not done; planned stops were cancelled due to bad traffic, then it was too late to go to the Winery, we seemed to be in the wrong place and then just drove around aimlessly, etc. The driver was friendly and asked MTO-Tour on our behave for some minor compensation (about $20 clp) which was flatly refused. Except for the driver & Isla-Negra, the day was nearly a write-off. We cancelled an MTO-Tour for 2-days later in protest.
A lovely drive to the coast via the vineyards of the Casablanca Valley. Visiting lovely oceanside towns and the favorite home & final resting place of the Nobel Laureate Poet, Pablo Neruda. With a stop at the City of Clay Pots - Pomire.
Daniel took us to a small village typical of SA , with tons of street vendors and rustic restaurants. While it looked chaos and poor, it was delightful, everyone was friendly and the food wonderful. No other tour has done this. It was a fantasy turned true. We absolutely loved it.!!!!
This was a wonderful tour. The coast was beautiful in spite of the rain. The tour of Isla Negra was a favorite activity from our entire trip to Chile. Rodrigo was an excellent guide. Would highly recommend this tour!
We had a fantastic day!! Thank you so much for showing us everything, and answering all of our questions. We truly felt like we were hanging out with a couple of new buddies!! Highly recommend to anyone
The tour itself was wonderful. Welll worth seeing island Negra. Our guide Nacho was a charming young man who was very knowledgeable about the sites we visited. He took us to a charing place for lunch. He was punctual and attentive but also gave us time to explore on our own. We really appreciated the balance.
Our (private) guide Alex was great. Very communicative. Did not care about time. Simply wanted us to have a perfect day.
Such a fantastic experience! We saw and learned so much! Luis and Becky made it such an embracing experience. More like good friends than guides.
They never contacted me with pick up info. Never replied to my numerous calls and messages and left us waiting. The trip never happened!! Avoid them!
Good trip looking at the coastal areas of f Chile. The poet's house was amazing. Driver/ Guide very friendly. Long day but was worth it.
An excellent trip! I had a great time chatting with Luis, the guide and driver. He told me about the changes in Santiago during and after COVID and how he thinks it affected daily life. As for Isla Negra, the house is beautifully maintained and has a lot of fun, quirky aspects to it. (La Chascona is another quirky Neruda house in Santiago.). Pomaire is a nice little place to see ceramics, one pound empanadas, and pastel de choclo (chicken and beef pie with corn bread crust).
There were no memorable parts, unfortunately. I had deliberately--at some cost--extended my stay in Santiago JUST to take this trip, and the morning of the trip I waited 1-1/2 hours for a pickup which never came. After continually trying to contact the tour operators, I enlisted the help of my hotel staff, only to learn, several hours later, that the trip had been cancelled. My tour fee is being refunded, but the additionally costs I bore as a result of extending my stay for this tour, of course, were not.
Luis was great! He was so nice and knowledgeable. He really watched out for us. He even checked the weather for us to see if we needed a jacket. He was so thoughtful and made our tour amazing! We were treated like family. I would recommend him as a tour guide to everyone. The tour was fun also.
Inexperienced English speaking tourist guide. There is not a lot of history was told to our group about the tour. The tour guide and the driver were very nice.
Before booking this tour, I read all of the reviews and they seemed quite complementary, so we decided to take this tour. It was a very disappointing experience. Our driver was nice and courteous, but that’s all he was, just a driver, and not a guide. He picked us up at our hotel on time, and we had roughly 90 minutes in the car with no commentary at all. Needless to say we were bored, stiff. We did find Mr. Neruda‘s residence interesting and in a very scenic location and we enjoyed that activity very much. But, it was not worth a 90 minute drive to get there. We then spent another hour in the car in bumper to bumper traffic along the coast just to go see the worlds largest pool. We had to look at it through a very rusted chain-link fence from the beach. This was a total waste of time. I wish we could be more complementary and recommend this tour. However, we would suggest skipping this tour entirely.
This was a great tour that shouldn't be missed. You get to see and do so much, yet do don't feel rushed or hurried. Tour guide, Alex was the best. He was professional, warm, inviting, fun and a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for a great day!
This tour was unbelievable and well worth the price. You're able go beyond Santiago and see more of what Chile has to offer. Alex was the best guide ever!!! He was warm, inviting, personable, very knowledgeable and has the biggest infectious smile. He's a wealth of knowledge in the Chilean culture. Thank you for a great day!
not the best experience :(… lack of planning from the agency on tour day and the places we visited; two of them not available. So sad because the driver was very well intentioned but I sense he was not supposed to be taking that group.
In general, the whole experience was pour. Firstly, the driver, with a car, was 1 and a half an hour late. Secondly, he didn't speak English at all. The driver was friendly and polite, I don't think it was his fault, although we couldn't communicate. The entrance museum costs 8000 pesos, so I do not understand why this trip is so expensive. There is an English tour inside the museum which is recorded but it was nice. We never went to Alfonso del Mar, the driver said it was overtime and had to go back. Instead, we went to San Antonio which is not worth it, but it was of the coastal places one can visit during this full-day tour. It is super expensive for what is offered. It's better to book an uber for a day and take you all over these places. I don't recommend it!
Very friendly, knowledgeable, professional. Took an extra effort to show the area. On time, very pleasant
The poet's house in Isla Negra was very interesting, with very well orchestrated audio guides, and competent personnel. The choice of restaurant for lunch offered excellent food and a spectacular view. Since we had a private tour, the guide and we had the flexibility to change some things around, and he did, but always for the better and always with our permission.
Our guide, Leo, was prompt and possessed really good communication skills. Was able to manage Portugese and English speaking passengers. The tour was very informative and enjoyable. Isla Negra is definitely worth a visit.
Enjoyed the tour. Alex my driver was very helpful and knowledgeable. Great views during lunch. ENjoyed hte museum.
Alex, our guide, picked us up right on time. He took us to several places not on the tour (by the ocean) and took us to a good place for lunch. Since we were only two on this tour it was pleasant and relaxing!
We did this tour as one of the last before leaving Santiago in early March 2020. Excellent tour, with Isla Negra being a real highlight. The house is beautifully presented, just as it originally was and is full of nautical items. The guide was good and gave a little bit of the history of the place before we spent a good hour and a half looking at the exhibits. There is an excellent audio guide that takes about 45 minutes and takes you room to room and explains about the exhibits. The lunch at Pomaire was good as it was typical Chilean food, together with some entertainment. Definitely worth doing if you ar ein Santiago for more than a day or so.
The Pablo Neruda Museum was one of the most interesting things we did on our month long South America land and sea tour. The house was once Neruda's getaway home. The Nobel laureate was a compulsive collector and his collections of bottles, ship figureheads, Latin American art, butterflies, ship models (in and out of bottles) and many more items are on display. The house was bought in 1939 and additons were built over the years. He had the house additions built to resemble ships and some rooms to resemble railroad cars. Its location on a slight hill above the Pacific Ocean provides some breathtaking views. The San Alfonso del Mar portion was not so memorable. Pomaire is a quaint town with dirt roads and dozens of artisans selling their wares, the specialty is pottery.
The tour was excellent. A real insight into Chile. Well worth doing this tour. Great scenery and friendly people.
Our group of 13 persons enjoyed a nice day traveling from Santiago to the the Pacific Ocean. After our second stop however a thief broke one of the van windows while it was parked and stole several bags. The driver (Diego) was heart-broken but acted in a professional manner. He walked us through the police interview, drove us back to Santiago to the American embassy, where two new passports were obtained, then joined us for dinner. He was very helpful in all aspects of the experience. Though we never got to visit Pablo Neruda's home as planned, we did have a memorable experience and made our return flight home to the US that night!
We ended up being the only two that booked for our day, so ended up having a private tour! Yanina and Mauricio were very professional, friendly, and spoke English really well. We were never rushed and they gave us plenty of opportunities to explore and make the tour our own! We were very happy with our experience and would recommend this in a heartbeat! Was a lovely day and money well spent. -Britt and David
Our guide and driver Patricio weas absolutely perfect - a great driver and a perfect gentleman. Hey came on time, was very well-organized and made us feel welcomed, safe and cared for. The trip itself was great, too, very relaxing. We decided to skip lunch and instead Patricio offered to take us to see the sea lions (which is what I really wished to do) ... thank you :) very thoughtful and nice.
Living in USA we booked the trip in Chile using tripadvisor. Pick up time was 8:30 am. 8:25 am I called the "company" and a guy named Felipe Rojas answered that he was too busy to know if our "Van" was in time or not.Of course I expressed very calm my concern about the answer, but the phone call anyway was over. At 8:35 He called again to let me know that the "Van" was delay for mechanical problems, 1/2 hour (I think he forgot about us and called some one in the last minute to do this trip). They send a small SUV with seven seats for 8 people (we were 7 passengers + the driver). I called back Felipe, at first he argue that the car was the right size, but my point about only seven seat belts for 8 people stopped his argument. Then his answer was that at this time, that car is all what he can do! If I don't like it, I should cancel the trip an get refunded what ever apply according their refund policy. We were already there with my 84 years old mother. We started the trip more than one hour late!. The diver was a very gentlemen, but by the end of the trip, because the late departure and under the pressure of 5 minutes apart Felipe's phone calls, he drove us back at very high speed (130- 140 km/hr = 81- 87 miles/hr !!!!). Please, for your safety and you comfort, DONT BOOK with MTOTOUR Chile !!!

We loved this tour. Pablo Neruda,s home was incredible! The sea views were spectacular. Lunch was a culinary delight with authentic Chilian food. We then had time to shop at the Pamaire and enjoy going into the various shops. This is a must tour when visiting Santiagio.

Great day trip, seeing amazing sights.

Fully recommend tour and guide.

We were the only two on this tour and it was great to have Henry all to ourselves. We had an unexpected short stop at Rio Tinto wine store/tasting room and that was nice. The Pablo Neruda museum was great, as was the lunch and short stop in Pomaire. We enjoyed the pottery and artisan shops there. Henry was friendly and professional and we recommend him for a great tour experience.

The Bráulio that guided us, was a very quiet and fun trip. Super indico.
Excellent tour, everything as described. I highlight the kindness of Juan, our guide; highly recommended.
The tour was to see Lake Yelo and Vale del Maipo but we stayed only an hour and a half in the lake. Everything was done in a great hurry because only to climb 2.500 meters we took almost an hour. There was not enough time to appreciate the natural beauty of the place, but we spent the rest of the day making stops at unnecessary places, which took up most of the day.
Guide Francisco was great throughout the tour pro Cajon he Maipo.
Very good tour, good staff and beautiful landscapes
The walk was super worth it. Good food and drink.
Excellent experience, the guide was very clear in the explanations
Very good experience, beautiful place and Mr. Andres Seguro was very competent
Today's walk was amazing. The Waldo guide was super punctual and explained everything we needed to know at each point. He left everyone comfortable and can speak Portuguese well.
