We were the last to board the minibus and initially had to sit at the very back, squeezed between two passengers, which was extremely uncomfortable. Thankfully, after we spoke with the guide, he kindly helped us swap seats with other passengers. Unfortunately, we were not taken to all the places listed in the itinerary, and we returned much earlier than scheduled without any explanation. The guide also offered an optional 40-minute cruise in Valparaíso for an additional USD 10 per person. Most of us agreed and paid, but the cruise lasted only about 20 minutes and was not worth the cost. This felt misleading and disappointing. Apart from these issues, the driver and guide were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.

It is a LONG day and three is a lot of walking up and down steep hills keep that in mind, its a great day, we missed part of the tournas there was a massive protest and we were turned back, our guide Chakana made up for it with a longer walking tour that was fascinating and we certainly did a lot of walking, bear in mind it can be very cold, we didnt bring jackets and we should have, excellent local thing to do, guide was amazing and he soldiered on in the different languages he was required to do!! Driver Leonardo was on time, friendly and fun, highly recommend
Avoid at all costs, not as advertised. Disappointed in Viator who we complained to who upheld ‘the operator’, in quotes because so many sub contractors became involved it was beyond a joke. Using the reserve now/pay later feature of Viator, to us, reveals a flaw in their system, namely that ‘operators’ are able to deviate from advertised criteria as well as timings and as the client, you have no recourse as the cancellation period has expired. In a nutshell. 1. The voucher is NOT available to be reviewed in full until payment has been made, this only came through at 04:01 on 11th July, we’re clearly asleep at this time, if I go to book this tour now there is NO mention of an early pick up at hotels, after reading previous reviews, this early pick up is all about picking clients up earlier than actually required, so that they miss their hotel breakfasts and are then shepherded to their kick back tourist trap for breakfast… 2. Again if you go to book this tour now, it clearly states this is a private tour and only our group will be on the tour, this was clearly not going to be the case when Deborah added us to a group chat and during the WhatsApp conversation at 20:15 the evening before the tour stated that she was waiting for the other customers to join the chat and because our hotel was far away from the others that we would need to be picked up first, so clearly they were intending to slap us onto a shared tour, other reviews mention the same technique of telling customers at the last minute if changes when they are the. Unable to cancel and Viator refusing to support the client, to the extent that they accused us of disrespecting their ‘operator’ who was literally screaming down the phone at us.. Viator put us as a ‘no show’ and we lost all of the tour money, I wonder how many more no shows this ‘operator’ has had.. Viator refused to investigate further or even acknowledge their own sites review
Our guide Rafael was very knowledgeable and it was enjoyable to hear all the history and anecdotes of the past. Additionally, he was funny and very sociable.
A colourful day exploring the beautiful coastal cities of Valparaíso and Viña del Mar. Valparaíso had such a unique energy, with its vibrant street art, colourful houses, steep hills, and little hidden corners full of character. Everywhere you look feels like a piece of art, and the city has such a creative and bohemian atmosphere. Walking through the different streets and viewpoints felt like stepping into a postcard. What really made the experience even better was our guide, who was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the history and culture of both cities. A wonderful day filled with colourful streets, ocean views, fascinating history, great company on the tour and unforgettable scenery. Definitely a tour I would recommend when visiting Chile.
Excellent trip. The guide Marco was very organised and communicated clearly. He related well with everyone. Visited many places and had good experiences. Fantastic trip. Thanks
Really good trip around Valparaiso. Rocio was an excellent guide - she was really knowledgeable, fun and brought it all alive. The Vin de Mar side was possibly too long for us and more time in Valparaiso would have made the day even better - but that's only a point of personal preference. Definitely a trip worth doing.
This was a great tour, some steps, but great views of Valparaiso. Tour guide, Marco Antonio excellent, very informative and great sense of humor. Driver, Phillips, very competent and safe driver. Would highly recommend this day trip.to Valparaiso.
Excellent guide and driver. Enjoyed the tour of Valparaiso, the Vina del Mar and winery.
I had a very pleasant & entertaining day in Valparaiso . Rafaël & Alvaro were fantastic ! Very good tour , we went around places swiftly & without stress !
the tour was quite ok, but guide was below any standards. they need to include proper guide or sell without guide
Good experience to see different cities in a short time . We enjoyed most of the places to visited . Great tour guide
It was a great short day trip for us to visit another location in Chile. We travel with a 7 year old who enjoy the trip as well!
Pretty standard walking tour in Valpariso and standard beach time option in Viña del mar. I was bit surprised about how the driver left us in the middle while return stating that metro is better in peak traffic (while clearly it could not have been less than 10-15 mins difference)
I selected this trip because I was traveling with family that speaks multiple languages. Rafael moved between Portuguese, Spanish, and English with ease and even took care to translate jokes so nobody was left out. His tour didn’t just include information about the places but also the people and culture. He translated a song that a man was singing at one vista and introduced us to the significance of cuecas dances and his playlist in the van was outstanding! He helped us to understand the art and music we were experiencing and provided much needed fun and relaxation. I will absolutely look for more opportunities to have Rafael as my tour guide.
I wish the tour details had a warning that the tour guide would be smoking - a lot! I would prefer to choose non smoking tours. Could trip advisor please start including that as one of the features?
I enjoyed every minute of it. Rafael was amazing and made it fun. We saw so much relaxing because someone else drove
The tour was great! First stop is a pitstop for breakfast, where you can see llamas. From there, we go to Valparaiso, where we do a walking tour for about 1-1.5 hours. We rode on the mountain elevators, saw gorgeous street art, and explored the architecture of the town, which is inspired by Victorian, French, German and Dutch architecture. From Valaraiso, we went to the beach, saw sea lions and gulls, and then hung out at the beach. The lunch is at a tourist spot where the food was not great at all, which is why this tour gets 4/5 stars for me. I wish I had the option to go somewhere else. You do get a complimentary drink included at the lunch spot. The Pacific ocean is gorgeous in this part of the world, and I had fun on the beach. After lunch, we headed over to Vina del Mar, saw a Maui from Easter Island, and then walked around and explored. This is the end of the tour - from here, you'll head back to Santiago. For us, it took 2 hours to get back to Santiago due to the traffic, so be prepared for a long ride.
It felt like a rushed tour where we saw little. I’m not sure why the pick up was quite so early. Would have been nice to actually walk around Viña Del Mar.
The van was too small for the group size. As we were last 2 picked up we sat squeezed in the back row. It was extremely uncomfortable. First stop was at a roadside tourist trap for 45 minutes. It was a complete waste of time and unnecessary in our opinion. Our Tour guide was fantastic and caring. Everything else went smoothly except for the 2.5 hour lunch. Again the time should have been allocated differently. The early morning pick up wasn't necessary. We could have enjoyed breakfast in our hotel before the tour.
Skip the restaurant that the guide takes you too over priced and other places closer for better and less expensive not paying the view prices.
Jose took us on a great private tour of Valparaiso and Vino Del Mar! It was personalized and he was very knowledgeable about the areas since he was from those areas. The beach view during lunch was fantastic. He knows many of the street artists and vendors along the routes and we went to places that had great views where other larger tours would not be able to access. Andreas are driver was a very good responsible Driver. Strongly recommended this tour
We were disappointed in the tour. The pick up was 40 minutes later than stated. Despite booking an English tour we were the only people who spoke English. The others all spoke Portuguese. Although the tour guide did give us information in English we felt we missed a lot of the information. To be honest it seemed that the purpose of the tour was to take us to places to spend money eg 44 minutes at Rio Tinto, 2 hours at a Viña del Mar restaurant which was over priced and then a stop at some artisan stalls. We did have a nice walk through the streets of Valparaiso but in talking with another tour guide it seemed we missed some of the highlights.
Pablo Rayo was an excellent guide and provided lots of historical information at each location. His light humor helped keep the smiles along the way. Some of the families along the tour wandered off and kept him busy, but he maintained his patience.
We had a great day, however the weather wasn’t great so dress accordingly. The guides were great we were put on a Spanish tour by accident but Marco was quick to get this corrected transporting us to another location where an English tour guide could collect us. So easy and no problems.
Amazing experience. Very helpful guide. We enjoyed our time and highly recommend. It's a beautiful day trip.
We had a wonderful full day private tour. Franco is an excellent guide - extremely knowledgeable, easy going and flexible. Pablo is a terrific driver and the van was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the entire day very much. Highly recommend!
Rafael was such a fun tour guide. He definitely kept everyone energetic and happy with his music and stories about the history of Valparaiso/Viña Del Mar. We got to see so many different things and the restaurant by the beach was great. Definitely a must for anyone visiting Chile!!
Using two languages Flavio showed us all that was promised with information, efficiency and good company. A great day of interest, variety and wonderful sights
Carol, our tour guide, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. She explained clearly and in an interesting manner the history of the areas we visited. There were lots of little details, Carol was quick to point out. When we took breaks, she would explain about traditional and or local foods of the area and of Chile. Adrien, our driver, did his best to communicate with us with his limited english, which was a nice added touch. His driving skills were good. Thanks to both of them, they found our binoculars and returned them to us the next day.
Pleasant day trip to Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar. Great guide and driver who kept everything interesting and on time. Couldn’t have asked for a better crew. Informative and helpful throughout our trip!
The tour was fantastic Raphael ( guide) was great. gave commentary in Spanish, Portuguese and English and was very patient with us slowpokes. Every stop was interesting but the wine tasting at 8 am was a Lille strange. The walking tour in Valparaiso was incredible. We felt safe at all the stops. We had lunch at a beautiful spot right on the ocean in Vina Del Mar. Back to Santiago by 5:30 . Filipe (driver) must be the most patient person I ever met. In the whole 11 hours I don’t think he used the horn once!! Overall. Great Tour!!
While Valparaiso is very pretty and happy I was able to tour, I didn't really like the tour company I used. Maybe it’s the same for all tour companies but not sure why we had to be picked up at 6:30 AM. We didn’t get to have breakfast at the hotel and had to buy over priced crappy food at a very touristy spot, very ridiculous! Originally we were supposed to get picked up at 7:30 AM and cleared we were getting picked up 6:30 instead at 8:30 PM the night before, we had to water no food, seeing places were very rushed except when we were taken to a very expensive restaurant by the beach with limited menu. Just a bit of advise, if we’re paying for our own lunch, we should have a choice of where to eat, not have to pay $25-$30 for a meal.
We had a good time on the tour seeing unique places. Our guide Bastian was very knowledgeable and friendly. He had to speak three languages (Spanish, English, Portuguese) and did it great. Also, he had a surprise stop at the end of the tour which was cool!
Christopher was excellent and worked with us adapting the tour to our preferences and timing. The Driver (Luz so?) was great made things work with our timing and avoided an annual event which closes highways and streets. Highlights were interesting. Valparaiso is beautiful if you like art of all kinds particular “street style.”
We had an amazing day with our Tour Guide Pablo and Driver DJ Rodrigo. From start to finish it was very well organized Pablo sent me a group invite to WhatApp, picked us up from our hotel, and then we headed off to Valparaiso. We walked around the city where he showed us the different art/graffiti, we saw seals and pelicans and fish sold at an outdoor market. Then he made suggestions for lunch. On the whole I was very impressed by the information he provided and he was very protective of us since we were his 'babies'. He took pictures and shared them with us. Along with that, he provided valuable information on where to eat/shop in Santiago. I would highly recommend this trip. Our Driver DJ Rodrigo is an experience driver.
5 out of 5 . Christian is an excelent guide as well as driver. Since the pick up he described the relevant places and history of Santiago. Later on the route he did and once we reached Valparaiso and Viña Del Mar we stopped at different places and he explained each one. Thanks Christian for the journey.
Tour was mostly in Spanish, in which I am not very fluent. Guide spoke enough Englis that I generally understood what we were looking at and when to record van.
The tour driver José and the tour guide Ignacio were very unprofessional. They arrived around 45 minutes late at the pickup point and rushed us to the places of interest to make up for lost time. The driver was very reckless and made us feel unsafe because he was constantly speeding and swerving in and out of traffic. He was also very distracted in his conversation with the guide and some passengers, which often included political talk that had no place in a tour like this. The music in the vehicle was usually very loud and made it hard to understand what the guide was saying; he didn't have a microphone, so it was hard to hear him even without the music. The listing of this tour says that there's an option in English, but the guide was barely able to introduce himself in my native language. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this tour or any tour where José and Ignacio are involved because, although they treated us respectfully, their lousy work ethic is dangerous.
Overall great way to experience the Chilean coast on a tight timeline and budget. Because the van couldn’t park in one place very long in Valparaiso (tight streets), we got on and off the van a lot. Would’ve preferred a longer walking tour instead. The Flower Clock in Vina Del Mar wasn’t very interesting. I much preferred seeing the authentic moai from Easter Island. Lunch was in a nice spot that had great views and good food but on the pricier side for a lunch. Our guide was great and managed leading the tour in Spanish and English quite well. Comfortable, air-conditioned van. Pickup was very early for us because we stayed in Vitacura.
Our driver, Esteban, was very personable and the ride was safe, comfortable and relaxing. Christopher, my guide, is excellent. He’s very personable and easy connects with people, even with introverts such as myself. His knowledge is broad, beyond just architecture, geology, history, culture, cuisine and flora and fauna. Further, he is quite artistic and captured many fantastic pictures and videos of me at our destinations. I feel as though I got to see and experience everything I wanted and I have fantastic photos and videos to preserve the memories. Definitely a great value and a very enjoyable time.
So a great way to see the coast and get out of Santiago. Vina del Mar was more what I was expecting Chile to be like as a first time visitor. The highlights were seeing a real Moai and having almost 2 hours on the beach via skipping a lunch. The price was right and the hostess was very knowledgeable. It was the second best thing we did on our vacation.
We booked through Viator, a private tour with guide Franco and driver Pablo. The whole day was great from start to finish. Franco met us promptly and Pablo’s car was clean and comfortable. Franco was engaging throughout. We stopped for breakfast and a toilet stop and fed some llamas. On to Valapariso, some history about the city and a really enjoyable walking tour with lots of interesting facts that perhaps other guides won’t tell you. Plenty of murals and lots to see and learn. Lunch was a short drive on in attractive Vina Del Mar, looking out on to the Pacific Ocean. Before heading back to Santiago we enjoyed a spectacular viewpoint of both Valapariso and Vina Del Mar. Would highly recommend the tour and especially Franco and Pablo.
Great day with Our guide Jose Paquin and driver Pablo Fuentes. Private tour for my husband and I. We visited Valparaiso and Vina del Mar. Beautiful vistas and very knowledgeable tour guide and very good driver. Had a scenic and wonderful lunch overlooking the ocean in Vina Del Mar at Siete Mares. Would highly recommend these two gentlemen.
Seeing the cities was fun and pretty, but our tour guide didn’t give us much information about the areas we toured. Would have liked more history of the cities and explanations of what we were seeing instead of just a “look and see” tour
Nice trip to two places that I didn't know much about but were well informed by Franco (Arial) along with the driver Juan. Franco was very knowledgeable about all areas of the trip which resulted in an interesting and enjoyable day. Comfortable ride and nice lunch location made for a worthwhile venture.
Romi was a fantastic guide and Juan Jose did an excellent job of driving. They showed us many interesting things. Informative yet relaxed.
Your was excellent. Somehow the van was dirty and old. Also our driver Antonio drove very rash and fast, to the point of scary. He was very nice and sweet but he should drive safe. They need to clean their vans also. Otherwise loved the tour. His van needed maintenance as was showing signs of engine maintenance, scaring passengers that it may stop any minute.
Guide was friendly and knowledgable with excellent English. I was unhappy with the structure of the tour - the driver wasted a lot of time with long stops. Given that it was mostly a walking tour and the driver didn't have much to do and the drive was just 90 minutes each way this didn't make sense. Also the guide was stubborn and wouldn't accommodate our request to go to the Neruda house and spend less time walking around or even drive by Neruda's house which I asked to do multiple times.
The guide was amazing. Super interesting tour from someone that lived there. Had great insight to the culture and how people live there day to day
