Lots of driving but the views were lively once we got to the lake. It was colder than in the city and actually snowed while we were at the lake

Itinerary
The Maipo Canyon is an Andean canyon located in the southeastern part of the Metropolitan Region of Chile. It corresponds to the upper basin of the Maipo River (around 900 m above sea level), where it is enclosed by hills, cliffs, and massifs. The area also has several confluences, such as the Volcán, Yeso, and Colorado rivers, and other estuaries such as the San Gabriel, Manzanito, Coyanco, Sauce, Manzano, and San José. The main town is San José de Maipo, capital of the commune of the same name, which encompasses most of the mountainous sector of the Metropolitan Region.
Discover the natural wonder of Cajón del Maipo and the El Yeso Reservoir on an unforgettable tour with a picnic included! Located just a few kilometers from Santiago, the Cajón del Maipo is a mountain valley surrounded by towering mountains and crystal-clear rivers. The El Yeso Reservoir, with its azure waters and the snow-capped peaks of the Andes as a backdrop, offers a breathtaking landscape. A perfect experience to connect with nature and enjoy a unique moment with your family, friends, or partner!
The Chocolate House is one of the most popular and iconic tourist attractions in the Cajón del Maipo region, a must-see for most tour operators. It's a magical place with a café at its center, featuring striking vernacular architecture, reminiscent of a house made of chocolate. Surrounded by a small forest, it features walkways, a bonfire, and fairy-tale-like resting places. Here, we can appreciate the design and architectural details of one of the oldest and most innovative families in Cajón del Maipo tourism.
The El Tinoco Tunnel in the Cajón del Maipo is a former railway tunnel, 493 meters long, built between 1911 and 1914 for the transport of minerals and military equipment. It is currently a Historic Monument. It is a popular tourist site for its historical significance and the legends of paranormal phenomena surrounding it, especially those associated with the little spirit of the young "Willy" found at its exit.

Paulo was a great guide. Most knowledgeable and we had a wonderful experience in the Andes We even saw a Condor.
Guide was knowledgeable and driver was excellent. The only minus was buffet lunch which didn’t meet American standards. Poultry which is still bloody is totally unacceptable
The Andes are spectacular and even if getting there and back from Santiago takes a full day it is a highly worthwhile trip. The experience is unique. Our guide Juan was knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend time with. A thoroughly enjoyable day.
I am sure this tour experience can vary widely based on guide, but we had an extremely positive experience with Ignacio (and driver Sebastian). Ignacio obviously has a passion for the outdoors and nature while being very friendly and accommodating. It is a long drive to and from but well worth the time. In addition, the van was clean and comfortable.
While we did get to experience Maipo Canyon and the El Yeso dam, we did not receive much context or guiding from our guide on this private tour. Juan seemed more interested in receiving the free coffee, breakfast, lunch and ice cream he received while touring us than providing any help or value to his customers. The one good thing he did do was add an additional stop when we only needed an hour and 15 minutes of the 2 hours allotted for time at the reservoir. I would not recommend doing this as a private tour.
Sebastian was a GREST driver we were on some scary roads. He did a great job. Our tour guide was very nice but the tour itself seems unorganized. We left very early and went to a town that non of the vendors had set up yet. Not much to see. The canyon itself was beautiful and the lake near the dam was very peaceful. The Andes are different from any mountains I have seen. I really expected more but what we saw was ok.
We had a great day with our guide Boris! El Yeso was a beautiful spot to see in the mountains, definitely worth the trip! We also stopped at a cafe, chocolate house and local market. I would recommend this tour!
We had great experience visiting the reservoir. Our Guide Polina and Driver Ricardo were very engaging and made sure we are very comfortable and well informed through out the tour. They didnt rush us and were very knowledgeable of the soroundings.
Whilst the actual destination was lovely, we were disappointed with the guide. The driver was good. We found the driver hard to understand, and not as knowledgeable as we expected. We also were annoyed that more time was on YouTube on irrelevant topics. Not happy considering the amount we paid. Also it was lunch NOT included. However we stopped at a place where only buffet or menu - we would have preferred just snacks of light meals.
Guide was nice, knowledgeable but very difficult to understand. Driver was very nice and helpful. Too long at reservoir.
Tour guide was good. Very good driver also. Excellent locations, great views, good breakfast stop. Was able to customize the tour because it was a private tour.
Had a great tour with Oskar! His English is excellent and provides commentary in a really fun and informative way. He has traveled the world, so he can provide some unique insights. The visual and whispers of the Andes Mountains were absolutely stunning. It was if these mountains were alive. I didn't even care that it was freezing that day. Enjoyed a fantastic cup of coffee while taking all of this in.
Sérgio was so wonderful the whole day! I really enjoyed the tour and it was paced really nicely. Sergio was knowledgeable about the area and at the end of the day, it felt like we were friends. The driver (Antonio I believe) was also delightful. We laughed the whole day. We also got super lucky and saw a fox up close! I’ll remember my day for a long time. Would recommend this tour and the team we spent time with. The sites were gorgeous too but the staff made the day so even better.
It was a good experience. They picked up us at the hotel, took us to Town San Jose for breakfast. Arrived at Cajón , amazing views and scenery…extremely cold but worth it. Then we headed to a Yeso reservoir, took pictures and enjoyed a picnic with wine. Finally we stopped at Casita de Chocolate for ice cream. Thanks MariaJosé for great guidance and explanations.
Great experience. Highly recommend very knowledgeable guide. The water dam is spectacular Good excursion to make
Fun day out in the Mapio Valley. Spectacular views of the lake. Rocio, our tour guide, was fantastic and knowledgable of the area. She spoke in Spanish, Portuguese and English. The communication with Rocio started the day before when she informed us about meeting point, etc. All went well.
Driver was 45 mins late to pick us up at the hotel without the tour leader. Driver spent another 35 mins to pick up the tour leader in her area. Driver seems to drive fast and rush while catching up the time to pick up the tour leader which made us felt quite uncomfortable . First time we had the pick up without the tour leader. After picking us up the tour leader, she didn't even introduce herself ,greeting us or apologize for her late started. After 15 mins later , they stopped us at the gas station to fill up gas and the tour leader was smoking there. when starting the journey, she starting to talk about the history of Santiago but her voice was so low that no one could hear her. Before ascending to the mountain, we ask her to stop and to discuss if we can have another alternative to go else where instead of the tour places because for few reasons that (1) the tour started late and the weather wasn't that promising. (2) the car was very bumpy for going to this hilly road. her answer was it's only 20 mins for one stop and then another 40 mins we will be there. Then we moved on. After almost an hour , we were still driving without any stop. We were then on the higher elevation and the road condition was bad and can see some mud and rock slide. We felt quite dangerous and asked for going back to Santiago instead of going forward. Its getting a bit late. At first she didn't stop and we had to yell until she stop and turned around. Ends up we didn't go the destination places. We all felt very uncomfortable inside the car with this kind of road condition. When driving back to Santiago, the tour leader was not happy and didn't say a single word. She took off at the place where the driver picked her up in the morning without even say goodbye. The tour leader was supposed to be responsible to take the tourists back to the original pickup place . This was the first bad experience we had after all these years of joining Viator's tour. I must say the tour leader is not qualify to be in this work and the driver is reasonable except driving a little bit aggressive . We all felt that it wasn't fair to pay this tour with this kind of a behavior .
Personalized attention. Fun guide and driver. Good information, knowledgeable, attentive good safe driver. Amazing views
Sergio our guide and Antonio our driver were a lot of fun and we enjoyed our drive into the Andes which were amazing.
Chris and Yvonne were fabulous, knowledgeable and attentive! Views incredible! The food at “la vaquita echada” was delicious! Must do tour in Chile!
This was an incredible day! I saw so much more than I had expected. Chris, my guide and mountaineer, was amazing! He was ready with all types of safety equipment so we could really enjoy the beauty of the mountains. I felt so safe and taken care of. He was also so knowledgeable about the area. Arturo, our driver, was also excellent. He took great care of us on the drive to the dam and doubled as a photographer and videographer. If you only have one day and want to see some beauty of the Andes, this is the tour for you. Thank you Chris and Arturo. I hope to see you both again!
If I could have given this a 10 star ⭐️ review, I would!! Pablo was amazing with his knowledge and the sights. Luis the driver, did an awesome job driving. Loved the whole experience. Would HIGHLY recommend this tour.
A wonderful experience seeing the magical views of the Andes. We were picked up right on time from our hotel. Manuel and Marcelo’s service was truly impeccable. Also, the empanadas (picnic) with the amazing view was such a fun lunch. We 100% recommend.
Wonderful experience, excellent guide Ignacio Millán
I would like to thank you for the unforgettable experience we had with TAC Turismo! Me and my family loved the tour and the treatment of the guide Ignácio and the driver that are excellent! Thank you for everything!
We did the tour of Embalse del Yeso, Termas de Colina and Cajon de Maipo. Our guide was Sebastian, which was simply amazing! It was super punctual, friendly, polite and with excellent car (we went in a car of 7 seats). He explained how our day would be and was very inquisitive in addition to knowing a lot about the history of the locals and left us very willing so that we could ask and interact. Super recommend the job.
Fantastic. The place is beautiful and the guide Jesus was wonderful and managed to get out well even with adversities
Driver Mr. Jean Pierre an excellent person in every way, extremely friendly, knows everything and explained everything that existed by the roads All the sites we visit we love!!! I recommend the individualized walk
Nothing to notice on the ride, driver and guide are excellent. The tour went all the best, with great safety. Very good guide and cautious driver in the direction and very safe.
A fairly complete tour, excellent tour guide service, give you a prudent and comfortable time to know the area and be able to take the photos you want. Super recommended!!
Very nice tour and guides very pending everyone and very nice the trip thank you very much all a 7 everything very well explained and where we were taken to breakfast and lunch excellent everything
It was an amazing tour, the location is wonderful and the guides of the tour (Brahian and Juan (I think that was the name of the driver, I don't remember right), but they were perfect, from the beginning to the end of the tour... They were very attentive, fun and made the experience with this paradise, which is the Cajón del Maipo become more special.
Beautiful landscape and very nice Alejandro instructor. It was an amazing day and experience! I highly recommend it, especially if it is with this guide!
Super indico guide, helpful, attentive. He knew properly what he was talking about, wise, show guide, top note a thousand.

Certainly when I return to Santiago Alejandro will be my guide again. Thank you for making my experience even more amazing and unforgettable.
The friendliness of the guide and the places we toured were the exact ones to visit. We went with little girls and they also had a lot of fun, that is to say it is a tour for the whole family.

Great guide, super fun, patient and always willing to help! He explained about the history of the place and even gave us a lesson about the minerals present in the mountain range!
What a wonderful experience, very punctual and Alejandro super friendly. The views are spectacular, I have very nice memories. Thanks for everything
He managed well with unforeseen events caused by a lava that prevented access to the main attraction. He improvised well the rest of the tour, making the experience pleasant. A helpful and friendly guide.
Despite the adverse weather conditions, Alejandro was very calm and helped to control the whole situation. I recommend!
