The 4-hour experience actually took 6 hours in total. Our excursion had a group made up of 3 different language preferences and there was over an hour delay at Concha y Toro until they could take the 3rd language. The driver did not talk about the Santiago community while driving, basically silent. The van was a manual transmission vehicle and with the city traffic and speed bumps made for a very bumpy and nauseating drive as the vehicle needed to shift incessantly. I would recommend going to the winery on your own with a private car service. Winery Tour was great, transportation and tour company guide not so much.
The winery is steeped in history and the tour is informative. The grounds are large. The highlight is the story about how thieves were scared out of stealing and the launch of the winery’s iconic brand. Getting there from Las Condes can take upwards of 2 hours bequest of traffic.
We enjoyed the tour and the wine and meeting lots of people including Jorge, our driver. He did a great job getting us there and back. He was very patient as I practiced my Spanish with him.
Wow. What a beautiful place . And so close to Santiago centre. This winery is truly spectacular with its lakes, amazing vineyards, incredible gardens and, of course the delicious wine. Our guide, Gonzalo was fabulous. He really was entertaining but also knew so much about wine. It was fascinating. This trip is a must
Easy trip to see the winery. The winery had a great tour of their garden, some vines, their cellars, and a great tasting.
Cesar was a great driver, who communicated very well with us, even though he only spoke Spanish and we only English. GoogleTranslate is a wonderful thing 😉 Even with morning traffic, we arrived early, which was great for us to enjoy the beautiful weather and views. Filipe was our guide and rather enjoyed our small group, as it was the just the two of us. He was very informative, as to the history of this vineyard, and the wines they make. Given more time, I’d spend another whole day here. The restaurant and wine bar looked amazing.
I was super excited to do this tour! I loved it except that I wish the guides had given us a bit more guidance, especially given everyone on my transportation only spoke Spanish, and even though I had chosen and English tour, I was worried that it was missed. I messaged the operator during the tour, and they were responsive and noted I would be paired up with other English speakers on arrival. My tour began about 45 minutes after I arrived, so I purchased a glass of wine while i waited which was nice, but also meant I started much later than the others. I ended up having to leave my tour early and caused the other Spanish-speaking attendees to wait for me. I wish the tours had started around the same time so we could all enjoy the full experience. Otherwise, the transportation was smooth and the tour operators (provided by the winery) were great!
I didn’t go to Concha y Toro since they had a private event but went to Undurraga instead, it was amazing, German our wine guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable. I will definitely come back.
The winery tour was informing and fun. The tour ran little late getting there while we picked up other guests. Once we arrived we really enjoyed the tour.
Transportation time misleading and inaccurate. Driver 45 mins late then took 1;30 drive time. Driver spoke no English but used translator device. Was billed as a private tour but was actually 5 stops to fill up the bus Once at the winery the tour was very enjoyable. And wine very good
The wine tour itself was great, no problem. The one star is for the shuttle. Don't use the shuttle to/from the winery from your hotel. It was late, slow, and crowded. Just Uber and buy your ticket there at the winery.
Complete misrepresentation of the experience. The van pickup was 1.75 hr ahead of posted time vs 30 to 60min published. When I inquired about this after getting the time, there was no response and since it was under 24hrs I could not cancel. The experience says it’s a small group tour. The van was supposed to be no more than 8 with a maximum of 7 travelers. We had a 17 passenger van with 16 passengers and a seat back that was less than 10 inches from my head. We then waited over 45 min to actually start the tour at the vineyard. It implies it’s a small group tour for the experience as well however we were grouped with additional people at the winery. The site also says a 2 hours at winery. It’s a 90min tour/tasting with 30min to shop. Do not recommend at all. Uber to the vineyard and buy tickets from the vineyard website.
This book with MTO Tour was terrible. They never confirmed my trip. I had to. And then they told me this was a Spanish speaking tour. They they switched me. I am waiting for the bus to pick me up and they never came. Then they told me that they texted me if I wanted to go on the 2:00 tour instead with an English-speaking guide. ok. They never confirmed. Absolutely HORRIBLE. It was the only day I could go to a chileian winery. I am so terribly disappointed. NO STARS!
This is a small group for the van trip there. The tour at the winery had over 30 people in it. The wine tasting was impersonal and the 3 tasting were of lower grade quality. We had to wait an hour before the started. The waiting area was over priced tent restaurant. Even the wines in their store cost more than you can buy them for outside. We would not recommend this tour.
The tour guide was very informative and the winery with its history was amazing. Our group has a problem with false advertising. We booked a small group tour with MAXIMUM of 8 people!! It took our shuttle 2 hours to collect all the passengers. Our shuttle bus carried 17 people. The whole reason we booked this tour is because it was a small group. This is unacceptable and we should be compensated for our time and inconvenience. I truly will be hesitant to book anything with Viator with the thought, will they be true to their word??
Very entertaining tour of the vineyard and good wine tasting experience. Minibus ride was uncomfortable and crowded due to seat width and pitch limitations.
The vineyard is very worthwhile, however don’t use Viator to get there. I recommend a combination of Metro and Uber. Viator said on their website that we would be in an air conditioned minivan with a maximum of 8 people, but instead, we had to share a vehicle with 17.
The winery itself is quite nice but the tour was not as advertised. The driver picked up a total of 16 people, not 8, so we spent half the time driving around the city and consequently it was well past the four hours that were promised in the description. The company did not respond to my complaint but Viator was helpful.
This was nothing more than a glorified taxi ride to and from the winery. That itself was fine, but I would just arrange for a taxi/Uber to take you there and from and obtain the tour tickets at the winery. The ride was advertised as 8 passengers or less in an air conditioned minivan, with pickup stops in a chaotic pickup route. We were picked up at 2:05 pm, with the earliest people in the van picked up about 30 minutes before. We then drove across town to pick up someone else before going back across again to pick up others close to where we had already been! We had opted for the “English” guided tour, but the driver didn’t speak English so couldn’t explain what was going on. (The language applies to the wine tour guide only). By the time we got to the winery, it was already over 2 hrs in the van for us, and almost 3 for the first couple. The tour was fine, but we took an Uber back to the hotel to avoid a long dropoff process in the van, and avoid getting to the airport late as we had a flight that night. The tour is advertised as “4 hrs” with a 1:30 start time, but even with the taxi ride back, we got back to the hotel around 7 pm. Save the hassle, and just get yourself to the winery!!
If you want of tour of Santiago and not drink wine, this is the tour for you! Most of the 4 hours is spent driving from hotel to hotel picking up/dropping off passengers. Not much time spent at the winery. Learn from us. Rent a car or take an Uber.
The tour was supposed to be 4 hours, but it's a minimum of 6 hours with the hotel pickups included. The tour was advertised to have a maximum of 7 travelers, but there were 16 travelers in my group. It takes about 1 hour to do the hotel pickup and then another hour to drive to the winery, so it might be more efficient to take public transportation to the winery for about 1 hour and 30-45 minutes. The tour is itself is fine. It's conducted by the winery, and it's efficiently run. The pours could have been more generous. Because the tour only included 3 tastings, I didn't think it was worth going all the way over to the winery, especially when most of the time is spent in the car. The grounds are very beautiful though, so it's nice to see. The driver does not speak English, but he was nice and courteous.
The tour failed to pick us up and then refused to refund us. Horrific experience and will not be booking with Viator again. Rude and incompetent service.
We were the first pick-up. We rode in circles in Santiago for 1.5 hours picking up other people for a 1 hour winery tour. Some in the van had a 2 hour winery tour So,we had to waste on hour waiting for them. It was our departure date. We were late for our transfer from the hotel to the airport and thus incurred the additional cost of a taxi to the airport.
Driver Jose and the tour guide Paulo were fantastic, but timings weren’t very well managed. The 4 hour tour we booked at 1pm - pick up was 2pm but the first tour didn’t start until 4.30 on. We then didn’t get home until 8pm because some others in our group needed to go to the airport so we were asked to wait over an hour after the tour to depart.
This was a great way to spend an afternoon. I really appreciated how lovely and helpful the guides were, as well as the overall tour. Would recommend!
Had a fabulous experience. Muchas gratias 🙏❤ From the notification of pick up from Jorge to meeting the rest of the tour group, everyone was friendly & welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed my 1st wine tour in a beautiful surrounding & amongst beautiful people.
Horrible experience, I had to wake up super early to be hours in the van and still arrive late at the vineyard. We were schedule for the tour at 10am, we arrived at 9:45am and they placed us at the tour at 9:25am so we couldn’t enjoy the whole experience. Wish I could have my money back.
Th tour was in a hurry, it seams that the purpose was to walk us around as fast as possible, even during the taste they didn't gave us enough time to enjoy the wine. I wouldn't recommend it
We had a very poor experience with the tour company used by Trip Advisor. We spent 3 1/2 hours out of 4 trapped in a van driving around the city picking up groups of people from too many locations. The winery closed within 30 minutes of our arrival. We chose to take an Uber back to our hotel instead of spending another 3 hours driving around the city.
Second group to be picked up at 1:30, arrived at vineyard at 3pm. Had to wait 1.5 hours for the English speaking tour - the Portuguese tour started right away. Bus driver did not speak any English and it was very confusing. Left the winery at 6:30pm and did not return to the hotel until 9pm. The bus driver drove past our hotel multiple times and did not let us out despite letting out every other person on the tour. We ended up getting out with last group and ubering to our hotel as we (two young women) were scared for our safety. Do not recommend the tour through this company. The vineyard was beautiful and our tour guide from the vineyard, Phillipe, was amazing. You’re better off ubering there and purchasing the tickets yourself.
I would like to warn people that the driver of this tour drove our tour group way out of the way, over terrible roads, speeding so much that he made one in our group ill. The others in the group felt the same way and asked him to please drive back to Santiago on the freeway, and at a safer speed. We did enjoy the tour at Concho y Toro very much! It was given by winery employees and was well produced. Just don’t go with this driver!!!!!
Although the website stated that this tour began at 13:30 we were not collected until 15:00. We then drove 40 minutes to the vineyard, arriving at 15:45 where we were given wristbands to join the tour which started at 16:30. The tour itself was hosted by the vineyard staff. The vineyard tour lasted approximately an hour and a half and included three wine tastings. There were approximately 27 people on tour. We were then driven home and dropped off at around 19:15. Overall this tour was worth the money paid but not as described on the website.
Booked an English tour with 8 persons at1.30. We were a party of 5. Our Driver arrived at 2 in a tight fitting bus with 5 others in the bus who were Brazilian. When we arrived at 3.15 the Brazilian group were give. 4.15 tour in Portuguese we had to wait until 4.30 so we had to wait more than an hour for our tour. Our driver arranged a 6 o’clock departure and we only finished at 5.45. We therefore hit traffic and didn’t arrive back in Santiago until 7.30 missing dinner reservations.
This trip did not happen as the bus and guide did not arrive- no prior contact on day or explanation afterwards. Terrible waste of time and no contact from Viator despite me sending two emails.
The visit to the winery itself was great as was the tour guide. The drive there took about 2 hours due to the outrageous traffic in Santiago. Visitors should be aware of that.
Tour guide was 1 hour late. Conducted the tour in Portuguese which wasn’t a language selected. It was a unenjoyable..
In the description of this tour, it says 8 people max on the bus. We had 17! Which makes this 4 hour tour more like a 6 1/2 hour tour. Especially, when you are one of the 1st picked up and the last dropped off. The tour itself at the winery was fine. Nothing spectacular.
There is nothing special about this tour. Waste of time and money. The bus takes about 1 hour to collect other passengers and then 45-minute drive to the winery. The driver does not speak English at all. So no communication during the bus travel for first 2 hours. The winery tour is only 1 hour 10 minutes and too commercial Tour guide at winery spoke English. The amount of wine during tasting 3 wines is hardly anything. The wines they keep for tasting were cheap wines available for purchase from $6 to $11 per bottle price range. The exact same wines were available in Costanera mall. We could have bought 3 bottles for about $20 total and had a good time in our hotel room instead of paying Viator about $80 for two of us and got few table spoons of wines for tasting.
Our guide Cristian was very Nice, polite and helpfull. Concha e toro was ponctual and ver beautiful.
The vineyard tour was OK. However the transport to and from the location was a nightmare, no regards to safety and traffic rules. The driver ran red lights, ignored speed limits and was overtaking other vehicles recklessly. This was really dangerous!
The trip was booked for a 1:30 departure on a Monday. We received confirmation for a pick up the night before at 14:55pm. When we inquired why it wasn’t near the 1:30 time, they immediately were rude and said, we had to be flexible accommodate their schedules. Strangely, when they claim max 7 per group or max 8 people per vehicle, we suppose we had to be flexible there too! We had a group of 22 people and 12 in our van with 6 stops! We arrived at winery at 4:28, with the last tour starting at 4:30. The tour itself was great. We really enjoyed our tour guide. The wines were fantastic. The buildings were clean, all except the hand dryer that had mold growing on it. Would wants their hands dried with dried mold? And when I told the young woman outside the bathroom, she didn’t apologize or try to fix it. She told me to tell the people when I leave the winery, wow. The driver of the van was kind but made me a bit uncomfortable since he had cough drops, inhaler and Red Bull in his door. Would not recommend this trip unless you don’t mind unpunctual trips, that you also have to drive around an hour to pick up others. Cheers!
Beautiful grounds and surroundings. Fun wine tastings. Great guides. Informative driver. So relaxing.
Not much because in a wine probe you get a new glass for each wine. Also you get water to ciear your palate.
The tour was supposed to start at 1:30pm, they didn’t picked us up till 2:40pm, they crammed everyone into a tiny van, with no regard to covid restrictions, no masks or open windows. We specifically booked an English speaking tour and the driver didn’t speak any, plus the other guests were all Portuguese speaking. We finally arrive to the vineyard at 4pm, as they couldn’t find two of the guests and had to track them down. We were then told to wait 30 minutes at the entrance because our tour wouldn’t start till 4:30pm… the tour itself is fine, the guide was very pleasant and helpful but it is definitely a sales pitch to get you to buy their items and sadly as we went in the off-season there wasn’t much to see at the vineyard! We ended up taking a taxi home rather than staying with the group as we couldn’t bring ourselves to wait another 30 minutes for the Portuguese tour to finish and then get squished back into the van. If you want to visit Maipo Valley or Concho y Toro, just save yourself the trouble and take an Uber, you can buy the tour directly at the winery.
Despite a language barrier mishap, everything was rectified with the best re-accommodations and service. We were not picked up by the small van at the arranged time and location. Our building’s security thankfully used his own cell phone and communicated in Spanish with the tour group who sent a private car transfer, basically a personal driver and tour guide, who waited for us during our tour, and returned us safely. They went above and beyond to ensure our tour could still take place and be enjoyed. Thank you.

We booked and confirmed our trip a month in advance of our tour because we would be arriving within 24 hours of the tour. Patricio, our driver to the vineyard, collected us on tIme but, unfortunately, our fellow Brazilian passengers had got onto the wrong tour bus and we had to sit and wait outside their hotel for an hour until they, unapologetically, returned. We then had a further hours drive to the vineyard before a toilet break.
The tour itself was a quick tour of the collection of growing vine varieties, interesting to see the differences between the leaf shapes and grape types, a quick explanation of the wine process and a tour of the cellar with some wine tasting in between.
There wasn't a great deal of technical detail, this is aimed more at the general public and is basically a sales tour, ending in the shop. Prices and choice were good and we bought 2 bottles at a great price to enjoy on board our cruise ship, which we boarded 2 days later, where the price was at least 4 times more.

Had a free half day so decided to do this tour, which turned out to be a good choice. Henry, our driver, gave us an interesting and informative commentary on the way to the vineyard. It was amazing to find such a beautiful and serene place so close to the city. The tour around the gardens and wine tastings was very enjoyable. We bought a bottle of wine at the shop, took it back to the hotel and ordered room service - very relaxing.

Very rude staff. You are supposed to use the same glass to taste different types of wine. As I was not told to hold mine during the whole tour, I was not able to taste the other wines offered. I honestly think Casillero del Diablo a very appropriate name for their wine as the tour is a true visit to hell itself. Never again!

I wanted to report the very bad experience I had a week ago during my first visit to Santiago de Chile. I waited several days to calm down a bit and get over this terrible experience. I bought a package to visit Viña Concha y Toro through Viator since there was no availability directly on the CyT website for the day I wanted (Saturday, September 12). I bought a tour for 2 people in Spanish with transportation included for 10 am. I received a confirmation email informing me that they would let me know the day before what time they would pick us up. On the night of Friday the 11th, they did indeed notify me via WhatsApp that it would be at 7 am—I asked why so early if my tour was at 10 am, and the driver said he didn't know, that they were only in charge of taking us there and bringing us back. At 7 am, they picked up my friend and me at the agreed-upon point; we were the first to get into the van. From there, we picked up 8 other people all over the city. After 90 minutes, we arrived at 8:30 am at Viña Concha y Toro, already feeling sick from driving around so much in the vehicle. Upon arriving, I looked for someone who could tell me what was happening with our tour because it seemed that there was only a tour in Portuguese at 8:50 am and no one knew about a tour in Spanish at 10 am. No one ever took responsibility, as the CyT staff blamed the transport operating company and the driver blamed CyT for having given them the wrong information. It is worth mentioning that it was extremely cold that morning; my phone showed 2C. The driver suggested that we wait in the site's café. We looked for the café and it was just as freezing as it was outside, since the heaters were all turned off—we asked the 2 people working there and they informed us that the cold season had already ended and that there were no more gas tanks available to turn on said heaters. We asked if they had tea and they told us that they hadn't been restocked with tea either; they only had coffee. What a deficient and disappointing customer service. This experience was not cheap; I paid $87 USD per person and it left much to be desired. It wasn't until 9:15 am that Marcela arrived, one of the guides who offered to let us join a group she was leading in Spanish. By then we had already been freezing for 45 minutes in the aforementioned café that felt like a freezer with no hot drink options. Marcela was very attentive to us and honestly she was the only person on the entire trip who seemed to care about our experience with the package - she covered the tour excellently, explained everything in detail, and demonstrated her deep knowledge and passion for the wine and the history of the place. She spoke with someone who suggested that I send this email explaining what we experienced. At the end of the tour we had to wait another 45 minutes for the other 8 passengers (they were on a tour in Portuguese) to be able to get back into the van and once again, they drove us around all of Santiago for almost 2 hours before we were the last ones to be dropped off at home. We arrived dizzy and with our stomachs more than upset. I would absolutely not recommend this trip to anyone. Aside from Marcela there is nothing to salvage, an EXPENSIVE trip and with terrible customer service. The name of the operator (according to the WhatsApp contact that confirmed the pickup time) is MTO Trafico Tour +56 9 7445 7595.
