The drive was AWFUL - 2 hours to get to the winery - tour was supposed to start at 2:30 - we got there at 3:30 — had to wait for our tour at 4:30 —- the fan driver did not speak ANY English - horrible ride !!!!!!
Top notch wine tasting with a ton of information. Miguel and Leo gave the best tour/tasting we've had, and we've done this a lot.
We chose this for the additional premium wines. This was our 3rd vineyard tour (to different vineyards ranging from a small producer to large scale). We were picked up around 1345 and dropped off between 1930 to 2000 (6 to 7hrs!!!). The driver did not speak English which is absolutely fine, we communicated through our phones. On arrival to the vineyard we had an hour to wait for our tour, you can only stay in the shop or restaurant (or back to the car park to smoke), it is tightly controlled. The tour itself was fine, the grounds are well kept and the intial 3 wine tasting was quick, there was not a lot of information about the wine or how they make them. This is a factory style tour, get you in get you to the shop. There were atleast another 3 tours around ours. At this point, the group split and we had an additional 4 glasses of premium wine with cheese. The sommelier was interesting and it was nice to try different wines too, you were then taken back to the shop. We did buy some sparkling wine as we can not get that in the UK, some of the wine at the shop was cheaper than local supermarkets back in Santiago. For what is a single vineyard tour, it was an average experience and we expected that based on the reviews. We simply wanted to visit as we see this brand a lot. I would not return and would recommend you look at tours where you can visit 3 or 4 vineyards considering this took nearly 6 to 7 hours, not a huge difference to a full day tour with multiple vineyards with lunch (9 to 10 hours).
We had a marvelous time. Our guide was humorous and knowledgeable. Our sommelier was delightful and poured us some of their very best wines. Although our driver did not speak English, he used his translator app to communicate. Helpful.
Beautiful gardens, scenery and premises. Gonzalo our tour guide at Concha y Toro was very knowleadgeable and enthusiastic. Jorge our driver very friendly. The wines were very nice, exquisit, and delicious.I highly recommend this tour for people who are curious and want to learn more about the makings and history of wine.Que chimbaaa!!!!
Beautiful Winery. Great selection of wines to taste along with commentary describing each type plus tour of the grounds
A very complete winery tour and tastings. After a tour of the beautiful grounds we had our first tasting of 3 wines. Then a tour of the (blessedly air conditioned) wine cellars The guide here was great, engaging and funny.. Something most unique to this winery was a tasting vineyard, where participants can taste the various grape types. Finally, Leonardo, our sommelier, gave us a short course of wine and cheese pairings.
This turned out to be a long experience due in part for how long it took to traverse across town to pick up guests. There was no time allowed for getting food at the winery, and no water was provided during the ride. Seems expensive for the amount of tasting provided. The winery grounds were nice, but several of the guests including us we were quite hungry and the tour lasted almost 6 hours total time, so we ate quite late after the tour. The winery tour was a very large group, so it didn't feel very intimate. Our driver was nice enough, but spoke little English to give us facts and trivia along the ride. Two guests did not show, but the driver never let us know we could move out of the jump seats for the remainder of the ride. The whole experience was a bit disappointing
You should know the first 2 hours of this tour are spent picking tour guests up and riding to winery, possibly longer than that. Then tour starts. We had to find a ride back as soon as we got there. Sadly, the timing was not explained prior to booking. Surely it would have been a nice tour to experience. Spent 4 hrs driving to and from.
A very nice tour of the home site, vineyards, and storage facilities for Concho y Toro! Excellent Wines and tastings! Finally a chance to see and feel the area where I have been patronizing for years! I love Concho y Toro Wines!
Concha y Toro Tour Marques with Sommelier class and extra tasting Santiago Very poor transport, we did not get what we were promised, an awful experience Please read the reviews carefully about this company. The star ratings are good because they do take you to great places. However, the transport arranged by the company in our case was very poor indeed and not what we booked. I booked for 3 people on a group with a max size of 8 on a 4 hour trip. I did that as large groups have multiple hotel drop offs and you can spend as long dropping off at other hotels as you do on the event. Our trip was in group of 16 on the minibus and 23 on the vineyard tour, and it took nearly 7 hours due to their poor organisation and the need to drop off at multiple hotels. Luckily we weren't the last people joining the bus. I asked the operator for a refund as they had not provided us with the service we had bought. they refused and claimed the larger group was due to the original bus breaking down. Looking through the feedback on this tour, they have a very unreliable fleet of buses, as it seems to happen quite often. I didn't believe their excuse, they could easily have told me there was a problem in advance and given me the chance to cancel, but they didn't. I would get an uber at far less cost and arrange this tour yourself - the vineyard tour itself is very good.
The tour was well organized and covered a lot of ground . I thought the group size was too large to effectively hear the speakers and understand the presentations. A lot of time was spent traveling to the winery and then returning.
Excursion was great! Jorge, our driver, was very cordial and professional. Our group of travelers was terrific! Meeting Shane and Julie from Sydney was great! We had lively conversations about, family, travels, world politics and wine! Macaroni, our guide was excelente, too! The wines featured by Concha y Toro for the tastings were exceptional, making this one of the best vineyard tastings ever!
Beautiful location. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. A really enjoyable and interesting experience. The wines were excellent
Amazing tour with excellent sommolier service for the tasting and beautiful grounds. We learned a lot!
Our tour guide Felipe was very good. The grounds are beautiful and the wine very good. Enjoyed the extra tasting with cheese as it was very informative.
Disappointed that driver did not speak English to describe what we were seeing in Santiago since we were in the van for an hour. Tour was great, in spite of the group size. Preferred wine tasting with the cheese pairing made the trip worth it!
It was fun, interesting, and enjoyable experience. I learned about Chilean wine from one of the most prestigious wineries in South America. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who loves wine.
Nice place to visit with so many stories about Don Melchior. We saw 24 types of grapes produced by Concha Y Touro. Also the story of Casilheiro del Diablo is very interesting. We tasted 7 wines. I do recommend the Tour.
Great tour and it is worth it to do the premium wines with a sommelier. The restaurant is also very good. This is a huge winery, a very impressive operation.
We had great time at Concha y Toro Winery. We selected Premium Concha y Toro Winery Tour with Wine and Cheese Tastings from Santiago. Two tour guides explained first the history of Concha y Torro Winery and we sampled first three wines. After history tour we had another selection of four wines with variety of cheeses. Our guides were vere knowledgeable and friendly. We recommend Premium Concha y Toro Winery Tour with Wine and Cheese Tastings for anyone interested in chilean wines.
Great trip, Itrip with my parents who have limited mobility and they managed it all. The walk round was at a good pace, so you had time to look at what was being explained. The display vineyard with all the grapes in close proximity was a lovely idea. The tasting provided a good range.
We were not given the right tickets for our experience upon arrival at the vineyard and that ruined the timing of the day. We had booked the additional 4 wines and cheeses tasting for after the tour. But our driver gave us wristbands that did not include that. We did not know they were wrong until halfway through the tour when the guide mentioned some other folks would go get that. So after the tour, we had to run out to the parking lot to find our driver and explain the problem using Google translate. He had to go back to the ticket office then we had to go all the way back into the vineyard. At this point we had missed the entire tasting. The staff was super nice and setup a second tasting for us. But we had to wait another 30 minutes for the cheese to arrive from the kitchen. So we ended up leaving the vineyard an hour later than planned. The other folks in our van unfortunately were stuck there until this was sorted too. The tour itself was nice and the tasting was great and the staff at the vineyard were fantastic trying to fix this. But it shouldn't have been an issue in the first place.
Don't bother. It was a major disappointment. Although the tasting was not bad, we were never told what to expect because the driver (no guide) only some Spanish. If we did not have someone on the tour from Argentina helping us, we would have been out of luck. So sorry we did this
A beautiful and unexpected vineyard and estate. Our wine guide and sommelier at the wine and cheese tasting were knowledgeable and lots of fun.
The tour of beautiful vineyard and the tastings withe the vineyard experts were excellent. But the driver did not greet us when he picked us up or speak to us during drive to explain the tour
Everyone was so knowledgeable and took the time to answer all our questions. The grounds are gorgeous. It was a beautiful way to end our vacation!
The tour and tasting was so much fun. The hosts were very informative and entertaining. And the wine was excellent. We had a great time and highly recommend this tour. Well worth the cost.
My 3-Star rating is an average of 5 stars for the Vina Concha Y Toro winery tour and tasting, and 0 stars for the local tour operator.. The winery tour staff was exceptional, and the premium wines were excellent. This is a beautiful estate and the tour was one of the better experiences I’ve had. (And I’ve visited hundreds of wineries.) However, as good as the winery tour was, the local tour operator, MTO Tour Chile, was unusually poor. We’ve booked several tours through Viator in several different countries, but none as discourteous and indifferent to guests as MTO Tour Chile. From our initial contact at the time of booking, to follow up communications, to the day of our tour, communications were rude, condescending, and lacked reliable information. We booked a 2:30 pm tour with pickup at our hotel to allow time for other activities that day. Also, we preferred a wine tasting later in the day after we had lunch. We were told the night before that the WINERY was not offering the wine tasting tour in the afternoon, as previously confirmed, and that it was beyond MTO Tour Chile’s control. Therefore, we could either cancel or reschedule to the morning. After rearranging our plans, we opted to reschedule. We asked for a pickup time and received conflicting information. We asked again for a precise time and we were told 8:00 am. We were ready and waiting at 7:50 am. When no one arrived by 8:30, I sent a message requesting an update. I received no reply. I messaged again at 9:00am, without any response. And again at 9:30, without the courtesy of a reply. Our driver showed up at 9:40, without acknowledging any delay in his arrival. When I asked why he was late and why he hadn’t called or messaged, he showed us his phone that showed his assigned pickup time was 9:30 am for a 10:50 am winery tour. We were told 8:00 am, while our driver was told 9:30. No explanation was ever offered, none of our messages received any response, and all we got was a driver, not an English speaking “guide” as represented in the tour description. At the winery, I asked whether afternoon tours had been cancelled, and they were puzzled by the question. They said no, no tours were cancelled that day. So it appears that MTO Tour Chile lied to us for their convenience, without regard to our previously confirmed arrangements. Viator should find another local vendor. MTO Tour Chile does not deserve Viator’s business.
Wine tour great. Lots of confusion re pick-up. Also we thought transfer was for 8 people. Very squashy in ours. Start time was an hour late😖
AVOID THIS TOUR! The winery is fabulous but take an Uber! We spent 2 hours to get to the winery, picking up 11 other people along the way in a very cramped and uncomfortable van. We couldn’t face the van on the way back so we paid US$30 take a taxi back to the hotel in Santiago CBD. The info says max 8 people and this is rubbish. It also says 4 hours but that is also untrue. We were picked up at 1:45 and the van was leaving the winery at 6:30 so we would have arrived back after 8pm so that makes it nearly 7 hour tour. The winery experience was excellent, which is why I rated this a 2. Visit the winery but use uber.
The worst customer service I have experienced. my pick-up location was wrong because I got confused with the location I was staying in. The agency did nothing to help me despite I offered a lot of suggestions. I offered that I could arrive to the place the would say but they continued saying it was not possible. They didn’t refund me anything. I had to lost my money because of the agency customer service
Buyer beware- At 9:00 pm, the night before our morning tour, we were notified that our tour would not be available in English. We were given the choice of a Spanish or Portuguese morning tour, or switching to the afternoon tour (which we couldn’t do). We were not offered the choice of a refund. Further, although the tour time is listed as 9:30 am, it should be understood that (due to group nature of the tour) the actual time won’t be disclosed until 9:00 pm the night before. In our case, we were expected to be at the departure point (15 minutes away from our hotel) a full TWO HOURS EARLIER at 7:30 am. At this point, our request to cancel was denied.
The tour of the vineyard itself was good but the overall tour was a total of 6 hours due to other passengers being picked up and taking 2 hours to return to our hotel in Santiago. So I would recommend the portion at the vineyard but not the overall tour.
The drive was awful. Our driver spoke no English or Spanish and made no attempt to communicate with us. The bus was not appropriate for the number of passengers and had minimal visibility leading those stuck in the middle car sick. The wine tasting and tour was just okay. Not very organized at the winery and a lot of standing around. The most memorable part was a glass of wine before (at our expense ) the tour and a wonderful woman who discussed wines with us. The. Cheese pairing was good but we were rushed to get back to our driver after standing around for an hour before our tour. On the way back although a festive atmosphere was attempted the music was so loud it was painful.
An experience that you CAN’T skip! From the staff to the wine, EXCELLENT memory. Come with your family! Thanks a lot! We’ll be back soon!
The tour operation left me hanging, they didn't come to pick me up. Viator is going to reimburse me. I don't reccommend this tour operator. I miss my chance to go because I coudnt find another tour for the same day and didn't have any more room in my itinerary to go.
The driver picked us up from hotel at 2:00 pm and he had a very small SUV for 6 people, when we got to vineyard around 3pm and he told us to wait for him to buy tickets to go inside tour which took him 45 min, there were 2 people in our group who only spoke English and he didn’t have English tour tickets for them, then our tour in Spanish didn’t start until 4:15 those were the tickets he gave us. Very unorganized, driver didn’t spoke a word in English or even Spanish, I would not recommend this tour company. We lost so much time, didn’t get to hotel until 7:30 pm.
It was very nice, pick up was prompt and the trip there without incidents. Vanesa was an excellent driver and even took us to our restaurant reservation to avoid delays due to tragic. The tour inside the winery very well organized and the wines tasted were excellent. Very ice experience.
Our scheduled pickup time was 2:30, and I texted our driver at 2:25 to let him know that we were in the lobby. The driver then texted me back to say that our tour start time had been delayed, and he would pick us up at 3:20. It was obvious that we were late when the driver picked us up as he drove really fast throughout the city and then out of town to the vineyard. It turns out our start time at Concha y Tora had NOT been delayed and we arrived late for our scheduled tour at the vineyard. There was a lot of confusion at the start trying to find our scheduled group that had already left. We missed part of the walking tour. Additionally, we had scheduled an English speaking tour, and we would have been fine with even a Spanish speaking tour, but we were placed in a group of Portuguese speaking(from Brasil) people. The group and the dynamics were great though, and we still managed to have a good time, but it was very frustrating to not be given advanced notice of the late pick up time for our tour, and also to not be put in either a Spanish or English speaking tour. Our driver never apologized for being late, nor for not finding an English or Spanish speaking tour for us. He was a nice gentleman, but it appears that he was called in at the last minute to do the driving. The experience at Concha y Toro was good. The people at the vineyard were friendly and flexible with us as we would stop to take photos. There were 2 wine tasting experiences, one when we were outside where we were able to taste 3 different wines as we walked around the grounds. Later, inside, we were able to experience a sit-down wine/cheese tasting experience with a wine expert where we presented 4 different wines and 4 cheeses along with an explanation of each(unfortunately for us it was all in Portuguese.).
The tour and wine tasting are first class. Guides and sommaliers are excellent, the wine divine, and the setting beautiful. The only problem was confusion about times and tours. We signed up for a tour in English but ended up taking the tour in Portuguese. One group from our bus ended up taking a late tour and the rest of us had to wait 45 minutes on the bus.
Nice attention by the driver and the place is fantastic, very educational about the wines and the process of production.
We had a fantastic driver and the winery is truly excellent and wonderful! Excellent wine and company!
Booked/paid the tour early Saturday morning for Sunday afternoon trip. Got the confirmation to my email. Later in the evening got a message to Whatsup, saying that there is not availability at the wineyard! Nice...
First of all this review is for the company that organize the excursion. The activities in concha y toro were great. First they look for us in an old van not confortable at all. We were a party of 5 and they seek another 6 persons. When we get there the driver Schneider leave us inside the van like 40 minutes. When he came back take the other 6 persons and leave us in the parking lot again. We walk and find a indoor space were people waits for the tour guide of concha y toro. We were in may and in chile that’s winter so the temp was like 40 degrees. When he came back to give us our tickets was like 30 min late and the tour already has started. We lost the first part of the tour and at the end he was rushing us because the other group the one that got in time were waiting for us. If you are planning goto concha y toro is a great tour but please don’t use MTO tráfico spare yourself the headache.
Our guide was truly knowledgeable and very engaging. He made our tour well worth it. The wine tasting was an experience and the cheese platter at the restaurant delicious
Our driver Richardo was FABULOUS, communicative (even though he doesn’t speak a word of English he used translation tools and gestures), friendly, positive and a good driver. Our guide at the vineyard Paolo is passionate, funny, though he did brush through the technologies of wine making while we were in the cellar, calling it “boring”. Also didn’t appreciate being told the color, smell and taste of wines before we even tasted them. The tour consists of two parts, first tour of the vineyard and a brief wine tasting (of 3 different wine labels) led by Paolo. Second part was led by a sommelier (skeptical of his credential though since he avoided our question of how long did it take him to become a sommelier), with four pieces of cheese (goat, butter, Brie, Parmesan) with four glasses of wines. The wines, however, were of the same label (Marquis) but different varieties ( rose, Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah). The wines in the wine store are much more expensive than what you’d pay outside of chile. We checked the price and were shocked to see 50% price difference. We paid for Premium wine tasting and it didn’t feel like it. The cheese certainly didn’t feel premium. We were told this place is the McDonald’s of wineries in chile and we didn’t believe it at first! kinda have to agree now.
The wine and cheese tasting was delightful, the grounds were really nice. Tasting the grapes was one of my highlights.
Nice tour..very good organized, nice stuff..we really enjoyed the tasting of wine and cheese..and all the history behind it!
