I found Maipo Valley Wine Tours by chance when searching for wine tours near Santiago that included children’s activities. I was looking for something that would suit the wide range of ages in our family (5-84), and Juan pulled together an amazing itinerary: a traditional Chilean breakfast at Connie’s house/art studio, horse riding for the younger ones with Adolfo (the most gentle Huaso you could ever hope to meet), a delicious open air BBQ manned by Felipe, a quick visit to the vineyard, and then honey tasting and an apiary excursion with Claudio to round it all off. We were accompanied by Gerald, our bi-lingual guide, the entire time, and travelled as a private family group in a comfortable van. The entire day was a joy from start to finish. It was truly unique and unforgettable experience - one that I am sure we will cherish for many years to come!

Once we have finished with breakfast we start the excursion: we make our way through the Maipo River, ride among the vineyards, we enjoy the wonderful views from the hills, we listen to the pure song of nature and we stop now and then to drink from streams of clean and fresh water. In all, we fully enjoy this idyllic spot. And as a bookend, we will delight you with a country grill and excellent wine next to an open fire.
After the country grill, let´s visit Miraflores organic winery and have a tasting.
Once inside the vineyard, your guide will explain you the facts that make this historic winery so interesting. Its past, some Chilean traditions and Miraflores Organic winery present state.
Through the tour, you can walk in between the grape vines, the old estate house and the cellar, so you can immerse yourself in the organic wine agriculture. At the organic vineyard, We will tell you about its development, how it evolves and the technology behind that finally make Miraflores organic wine so excellent.
Natural cultivation of the grape vines, with minimal human intervention, results in healthy and mature grapes, a high quality raw material for Miraflores line of organic wines. While walking inside the cellar, you will also be able to see some machines that where used in the wine making process during the winery´s early years and taste the Cabernet Sauvignon wine.

We loved this experience so much that we ended up doing it twice! The horses were fantastic, and our guide made the ride even more enjoyable. We stopped to take stunning photos of the winery from the top of the valley — the views were breathtaking. Felipe’s enthusiasm was contagious, and he treated us to a wonderful grilled meal with perfectly cooked meats and vegetables, paired with fabulous wine. Carolina picked us up from our hotel and kept us entertained with fascinating stories about different vineyards. Her deep knowledge and years in the wine business really shone through. In the morning, the local artist served us a traditional Chilean breakfast featuring fresh bread — make sure you buy some from the on-site bakery before you leave! We enjoyed our first visit so much that we came back for a second tour. This time, Felipe arranged for us to learn about beekeeping before returning to the vineyard
Best experience ever! Felipe and Pilar are the best guides of Chile. We had a private experience and that was awesome! A lot of history of Chile and personal experiences of each other make a great conversation! Horses are very friendly and the way was very beautiful! Felipe make a very good rustic barbecue e we experience great wines! I really recommend this experience!
Highlight of our trip. Very fun experience, although pricey. We booked last minute so instead of a barbecue, had lunch at a sustainable farm place, which was delicious.
Felipe, Carolina, and Mario were so lovely and took such good care of us. They made my birthday so amazing and this tour was definitely a highlight out of our South America trip. If you love horses, countryside, bbq, and wine, book this tour!!!!
This excursion was the highlight of our trip! The listed excursion wasn’t exactly what we were looking for and Philipe created an itinerary perfect for us! The transportation was prompt, clean, and comfortable. Our guide, Christian, was so fun and informative! We learned so much from him! The horseback riding was so fun and the horses were obviously well loved and cared for. The lunch was one of the best meals of our trip! We also enjoyed wine tastings at 3 wineries and they were all amazing! The communication from this company was also excellent! Thanks for a wonderful day!
Incredible day! We did so much but it was never rushed. Great to meet local residents for breakfast. The horse riding was pitched at a good level for our skill set. As we are 1 experienced rider and not beginner, it balanced not being too basic as we got to ride through the river & up hills and got an opportunity to run, but it was still accessible enough for a new rider. The bbq & wine lunch was so tasty and the views stunning. The vineyard was a large commercial one but still family owned and our guide there was very knowledgeable. Our guide for the day, Gerald, was so knowledgeable and gave us great tips for our next day in the city & onwards travel. Only point to note is we booked a private tour & felt the price was quite reflective of that. Our transport was private but the riding & winery tour was with another party of 2. This might be because we booked last minute & so were fitted into another tour (which is much better than no tour at all). It wasn’t a problem & we had an incredible time but the other party had different objectives to us (e.g. we didn’t feel we could ask lots of questions on the wine tour as they wanted to rush through to the tasting), so we might’ve got more out of the tour if it had been private, as we booked. Regardless of that specific situation, we would highly recommend this company and tour. An absolute highlight of the trip.
Wow what a day. The tour was magnificent. We rode horses surrounded by the most beautiful mountainous scenery. The food was very tasty and authentic. Felipe and Christian were great. I highly recommend this experience.
We had the best day ever with Christian and Felipe. The horseback ride was amazing ( especially the BBQ at the top of the mountain) and the wine tour had great wines. Christian and Felipe both are excellent in English and go out of their way to make sure you have a great day. Every thing is very well organized ( from the moment of booking) and highly recommended.

Honestly this tour and Felipe and Christian are amazing. I organised this for my girlfriend’s birthday and it was perfect. This was my first time riding a horse and they made me feel very safe and comfortable and in no time I was enjoying it and was riding naturally. The whole experience was perfect and both Felipe and Christian are very knowledgeable and speak English perfectly. Spend the little extra money to do this and you won’t regret it.
This was truly one of the best experiences ever. Everything was so well organised from the start till the drop off at our Airbnb. Felipe and Cristian picked us up around 08:30 and quickly we found the wine glasses in the backseats. Since this is a combination wine tour, Felipe opened a bottle and Cristian gave us the background information of the wine. Best pickup ever. We drove to a lovely private home for breakfast and along the way the wine tasting continued. We were welcomed by a Constanza in her home where she had prepare a great breakfast with bread from their own little bakery. Off course with coffee, orange juice and wine. After breakfast we went to the range of Adolfo to do some horseback riding. Adolfo is a great cowboy who guided us through some challenging small paths with the horses. No worries even if you are inexperienced like me the horse knows exactly what to do. The ride is about 1 and a half hour which is perfect for inexperienced riders. In the meantime Felipe prepared a super nice Chilean BBQ. After the BBQ we went to a wine tasting on a vineyard and were brought back to our hotel around 18:00. During the whole day the wine flows generously. Thank you Cristian, Felipe, Adolfo and Constanza for this great experience.
AMAZING TOUR, from the start to the end! Unlimited wine all day long, very tasty home made breakfast in the garden of an art gallery, lots of information about Santiago/ Chili along the way, lovely horses, great scenery, the best food at the barbecue, nice wine tour at a winery… This day could not be better thanks to the perfect and professional guidance of everyone that participated in serving us. Thank you so much!
My wife and I had the best time on this tour! Felipe and Christian provided a full day experience by picking is up in Santiago, taking us out to the Maipo Valley to enjoy a wonderful breakfast and quick art tour at Connie's, then went to Rancho Llollehue to do a fun horseback tour with Adolfo, after we finished the day at Santa Ema winery. This was truly a great day and would recommend to anyone!
The entire experience from beginning to end was exceptional. Felipe, Christian and Adolfo were exceptional guides and hosts. The breakfast with Constanza and seeing her art studio and bakery was fabulous. A short ride later we met our horses and set off through Isla de Maipo. Seeing the wild horses and the open fire lunch were spectacular. We couldn't have asked for a better day with the most amazing hosts.
Had the most amazing time, highly recommended! Beautiful views, great photos and incredible guides! Safe, fun and worthwhile!
This tour is really 4 separate experiences. including transportation from our hotel to isla de maipo and back. First we had breakfast at a local business, then we rode horses along the river, in the middle of the horseback ride Cristian and Felipe grilled lunch for us, then we did a vineyard and winery tour. I enjoyed the horseback ride and lunch by the river best. But the whole experience was very good.
Felipe and Carolina are awesome. Well I enjoyed my horseback riding. I am a solo traveller, and the food is delicious
This is a great way to connect with great Chilean people and culture. We felt more like neighbors than tourists!
We started with a wonderful host for breakfast followed by riding. The trail was spectacular. We had wine and food along the way. Very Chilean experience. Then a fabulous winery tour. Maria was a wonderful guide.
This was simply put: the best. Felipe coordinated everything, shared insights about Chile and Santiago as we drove to Isla de Maipo -- he was easy-going and it went so smoothly. Our guide Christian quite literally became our new best friend, and we already miss him. We shared an authentic Chilean country breakfast in a lovely local house, rode horses with Adolfo and his crew of friendly gauchos, shared drinks and laughs, before capping the day off with a private tour of one of the areas premier wineries from Bianca. I cannot thank everyone involved enough -- or recommend this more highly. Please meet Felipe and Christian. You will feel so welcome, and I hope it will be one of your best days too! :)
It was just me and my girlfriend on this tour. We were picked up at our hotel exactly at the time they said they would be there, and had our own private ride to Felipe's place for breakfast. We had freshly made quac, free range eggs, wine, coffee, and homemade jam with bread. All so sweet and good. Christian then took my girlfriend and I to pick up the horses and we rode around in the Maipo Valley and Maipo River for about 2 hours. Our horse guide, was very attentive to both of us, and kept us safe. He let us gallop with the horses which wouldn't have been allowed in the US. We saw a couple wild horses as well! So cool. Christian cooked us some local beef/pork/sausage on an open fire, provided us with wine, some country music, and water. Christian had so much knowledge of the Chile, the area, politics, wine, everything! The communication by Maipo Valley Wine Tours was spot on, perfect. We loved the company so much we did a second day with them to visit the top 3 wineries. Highly recommend this company. Safe, perfect English, exactly as described. Thank you much for this experience.
Loved the ponies. Felipe and Alfonso were very friendly and welcoming. Carolina was a knowledgeable guide
We only had one day in Chile, and we are so thrilled we spent it doing this awesome tour! Felipe picked us up from the hotel and drove us to the Maipo River Valley, all the while Felipe was explaining what we were seeing along the way. We were able to drive past many towns surrounded by the beautiful mountainous backdrop of the area. When we arrived to the river valley, we met our horses and our horse guide Adolfo. Felipe and Adolfo took great care in setting us up on the horses and adjusting our saddles. They offered us ponchos in case we got cold. Felipe has clean bathrooms available to use prior to the ride (which was nice!). The horses were nicely kept, very tame and gentle. The actual ride was really amazing! They take you through parts of the town and you get to see some cute country homes, then you start the trek heading into the river area. The whole ride is quite beautiful!! My friend and I were amazed that you get to go into the water, not just by the side of the river, but you go thru the river and cross it multiple times! It was really exhilarating Crossing 3-4 feet of water! There was a sweet young family on the ride with us that day, and they had their 6 and 7 year old girls with them. They rode their own horses and were perfectly safe. They tied those horses to lead horses and Felipe and Adolfo made sure they were safe the entire time. I simply state that in case you are a novice rider! We stopped for a rest and enjoyed some water, wine and small snacks that Felipe provided for us. That area is we’re we spotted the wild horses, which was surreal! Beyond beautiful to watch! Then it was back to town and onto our lunch…at a quaint Bed & Breakfast at a working farm. The lady there cooked us a homemade lunch with fresh juice! She had peacocks roaming thru the farm which made it extra fun. After lunch we headed to the final part of the tour which was a visit to the Undurraga Wine Vineyard. That was truly awesome. The Vineyard had gorgeous gardens and a very interesting guide to take you thru the vast vineyard complex. We finished the tour with a wine tasting that featured many great wines. On our way back to the hotel, Felipe was kind enough to stop by an empanada stand and we got to take some big traditional empanadas back with us. Felipe was a great guide and made sure everything was really perfect! I highly recommend this tour if you are looking for an exciting day in a beautiful natural setting with amazing views!! Plus, you finish it off with some world class wine!
I just loved! Guides are very friendly, first of all we had our breakfast in a increbible place and after that we ride a horse with Don Mario, best person that I meet in my life ! This tour is really impressive and aí highly recommend
From the gracious hospitality of our hosts & guides to the breath-taking views of the Maipo River Valley, this tour was by far the most memorable part of me & my husband's anniversary trip to Chile. You should make it a MUST for your trip! We started the day with breakfast & great conversation at a local artist's home then got to take in all the beauty of the region's landscape on a peaceful couple hour horseback ride. The homemade lunch at a nearby home was absolutely delicious & a perfect fill up before heading to a wine tour at what ended up being one of our favorite wineries in the country! Another big thank you to our tour guide Christian & our driver Carolina who were not only knowledgeable about Chilean history & wine but also made us feel like we were spending the day with friends!
This experience was beyond our expectations. Everyone was very personable and nothing felt commercialized. It was a true authentic Chilean adventure. The horses were incredible, food was excellent and the wine was fantastic. Would highly recommend, especially if looking to plan a short day trip from Santiago!
Exceptional! By far THE BEST experience- and I travel often and have taken hundreds of tours. Communication is perfect. Felipe was very proactive and responsive. I can’t say enough about Pilar. She is simply incredible! The tour starts with breakfast at this amazing lady’s art studio, Connie. A must see. The horse ride was spectacular! Mario was the quintessential Chilean cowboy! The horses were perfect. The tour ends with wine tasting that is perfecto! The highest of recommendations. Don’t pass this one up!!
My very first time in Santiago and my very first excursion. From start to finish it exceeded my expectations. Felipe, the tour guide picked us up on time from the hotel. Next, we traveled to Maipo to have breakfast with Constanza. What a fabulous breakfast and a beautiful showcase of Constanza’s art. Then, we went to our horses. The horses were calm and well trained. We traveled through rivers and the mountains. It was such a serene, calm trail. Such beauty in this place. A part of the horse tour, Felipe grilled some delicious meat. We had a nice picnic with some wine. Felipe out did himself. Lastly, we went to the winery. The entire experience has left me in awe. What an awe-inspiring moment that will always be a part of my memory bank. This is a must-do. Felipe will definitely take care of you!
Wow! This trip was incredible. We had the nicest breakfast in the home of a local artist followed by a short drive to pick up the horses. Our guides did a great job snapping pictures of us while we rode so we could enjoy the scenery. This was far from what can feel like a plastic experience wine tasting. It felt more like spending a day with local friends enjoying the best of what Maipo has to offer
We did the horse riding tour and it was just wonderful! A must do experience!! Felipe is a great guy, very easy to communicate since the begging and is super attentive with the clients! When we said we didn’t eat meat he prepared a super nice barbecue with vegetables and a delicious fish :) The horses were super easygoing and calm and We passed trough some super beautiful places! Don Mario who went with us was super nice as well! After the horse riding Felipe took us to a really nice place to buy some wine and explained about the wines and all. If you’re in Santiago I super recommend this tour! ❤️ Thanks again for the amazing tour Felipe and Don Mario ☺️
We had a fantastic and genuine experience with Felipe. It was just the two of us (my fiancé and me). He picked us up from our hotel and drove us to Isla de Maipo, where we had breakfast and a home/gallery tour with a local artist. Then on to meet Mario and saddle up for a few hours on horseback - winding through the picturesque landscape, crossing rivers, and into the middle of a vineyard, where we had a great lunch over an open fire, with good wine and conversation under the shade of a small grove of mesquite trees. After horseback riding, it was on to a winery for a private tour and tasting. We learned a great deal about the local area and its culture, and Felipe was a wonderful guide. Highly recommended!
Tour was amazing! What better than getting the local experience with a winery to end the tour! Christian and Amanda were fantastic tour guides, versatile with English and Spanish languages; and quite professional/intelligent tour guides. Don Mario was fabulous. He speaks Spanish and I was able to understand him well. This made our tour a lot more personal and getting to know the local, country people of Chile. It was amazing! I highly recommend; getting on that horse, passing those lakes to a perfect picnic spot. It was quite the charm. I highly recommend them for any tour as they strike me as very savvy and knowledgeable tour guides.
Felipe, our guide, picked us up from our hotel in Santiago and we drove to Isla de Maipo where we had breakfast in the garden of a home of a small local business. After a fantastic breakfast of biscuits with avocado, eggs, butter, and jam (along with wine and coffee), we went on a horseback ride with a local huaso (cowboy). Our group of four, plus the huaso Mario, and Felipe rode for more than an hour until we reached a picturesque vineyard in the countryside. There we had a grill of chicken, beef, pork, chorizo under the shade of some trees. We drank more wine and enjoyed the food. We then rode back into the town and headed out for our wine tasting at Undurraga Winery. We received a fascinating tour before our tasting and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We were then driven back to Santiago. It was a full day experience and we absolutely enjoyed it and our time with Felipe and the other locals that we met. Highly recommend!
This tour is incredible, the communication to book it was very fast and easy. Felipe is great and made this tour very special, we are somewhat experienced riders and the route was amazing - we crossed rivers, rode through vine yards, saw wild horses. Lunch in a very cozy spot in a vine yard was amazing, very tasty meat, local vegetables, fantastic wines - Felipe was so nice that when he heard that we prefer white wine he actually picked up an extra bottle from his house. Mario, the horse owner, was great and very friendly and helpful too, we do not speak Spanish unfortunately, but after a couple of glasses of wine and some Google translate we managed to communicate just fine. This style of riding is different from European and takes a bit of getting used to, but it is fun and provides a great opportunity to learn something new if you are a somewhat experienced rider. The horses are well kept, have great personalities, and are very responsive and easy to deal with. In general this tour is very tailored and personal. Oh and the breakfast is super cute and homey, we had it at an artists house, and she was so welcoming and nice. We were taken care of throughout the entire tour and didn't have to worry about anything. Highly, highly recommended!
Words cannot justify just how unique and amazing this experience was. From start to finish it was beyond incredible, often surreal at times. Apart from the scenery that photos will never do quite justice, the food and wine were also the best we had in Chile, a beautiful Chilean BBQ in the middle of vineyard - amazing! Felipe made the day very special. He was such a warm and genuine tour guide, with such respect given to the locals of this magic area of Maipo Valley. We were so overwhelmed with the quality of the day and Felipe that we also asked him to create a very bespoke wine tour for us - which was yet another incredible day. We will forever be thankful to Felipe for providing us with such special memoriess that we will forever cherish. This is an absolute 'must do' tour!
This is a private tour, which is worth every penny you spend on it. The communication to book this tour was very easy and a couple of days before our tour we received a WhatsApp message from Felipe, confirming again the details of the pick up from our hotel. We drove out to Maipo Valley, with Felipe giving us some local knowledge and tips for riding the horses. Felipe has a lovely manner about him and you instantly feel relaxed with him. We stopped off at a local cafe for breakfast and then continued on to arrive at the house of Mario, a local Huaso (Chilean cowboy). He had the horses ready and we got acquainted with our rides. They all had their own personalities, but were gentle horses and I had complete trust in them. Mario’s wife lent me a poncho, as the weather had turned cool and it kept me warm for the whole day (and also made me feel like a Huaso myself). We rode from Mario’s house and out onto the land that he keeps his cows on. We walked through streams, across open fields and through small woods. The scenery was beautiful and we eventually stopped in the middle of a vineyard, where Felipe and Mario collected sticks and cooked our lunch over an open fire. All the meat was locally sourced and the vegetables were incredibly fresh. We enjoyed wine with our lunch and then we headed back again, although taking a different route to see more of the landscape. After saying good bye to Mario, his wife, their dogs and the horses, Felipe drove us to Undurraga Winery where we received an excellent tour from David, the Winery’s guide who spoke excellent English and really gave us an appreciation of the science and skill behind making wine. After the tour we had a wine tasting and stood chatting to the other couple on our Winery tour. There was no pressure from Felipe to hurry, but when we were eventually ready to leave, he was patiently waiting to take us back to our hotel. We asked Felipe what made him create this tour and he said that he wanted to create a more authentic and complete experience, using local products and people. The aim of the tour was to give people a chance to slow down for a day, as life is generally busy and fast. I can confirm he achieved all of the above. We said just how relaxed we felt after the tour and it really was a perfect day out, different to all the other tours we had done on our holiday; a really personal experience. (Photo is with Mario)
I have been to Chile 6 times and each time do an excursion near Santiago. This was by far the best one I have done. Felipe (who is awesome) picked us up early to drive us out to the Maipo valley, Had a great breakfast at a local artisan’s house and then went to meet Mario and begin our horse riding excursion. Rode the horses through water and vineyards into a picnic area where Felipe made an UNREAL meal. So good. After hanging out for a while we rode back and then went for a winery tour. Felipe hooked us up all day and made sure we had a great time. Muchas gracias Felipe! Highly recommend!
We had the best day out of our whole trip in Chile. We booked it for our honeymoon and they did not disappoint. Felipe picked us up right at our Airbnb and was a great guide the whole time. Mario provides us with horses and made us feel very comfortable, as it was my husbands first time on a horse. Breakfast and lunch were fantastic and the wine tour was such a great time. I wish we could do it again!
The booking process was super easy, and every part of my full day adventure was fantastic. Felipe was an amazing guide, and he clearly put in a lot of time and effort to customize my day. He far exceeded any expectations I had, and his kindness will stay with me. No matter what kind of tour you are interested in, I can't recommend Maipo Valley Wine Tours enough. Whatever adventure you pick, you will remember it for all of the right reasons. A truly special day.
After doing some group tours, I decided to end my holidays with a private horseriding and wine tour. Best decision: well organized and such friendly people. Really recommend!
This was truly an experience of a lifetime for me! Felipe picked me up from the hotel and brought me to Isla de Maipo. We started with a yummy breakfast in a neighborhood tea shop and then continued over to meet up with Mario, my cowboy guide for the horseback riding. I love horses and this was a dream come true for me. Mario led us from his home through a forest and across the Maipo river then through vineyards. I am comfortable riding horses but not an expert and I must say that these horses are very gentle and easy to ride. Mario and Felipe are very knowledgeable and evaluated my skill level so I would be comfortable and all times. We continued the day with a delicious and intimate lunch with a family that runs a little property with lovely bungalows available for vacations. Before returning back to Santiago, we stopped an historic winery for a tasting. The entire experience was full of unexpected surprises and personalized care. Felipe is a wonderful guide and delightful travel companion. He is easy to talk to and very knowledgeable about the area. Everyone we met were gracious and warm which made the experience that much more intimate. He has many fun adventures to pick from and I would definitely love to meet up with him again on my next trip to Chile! I highly recommend anyone who has time for a day trip to contact Felipe at Maipo Valley Tours. It will be an experience to treasure.

Excellent tour, Felipe, our guide, thought of everything, very well planned and a great day was had by us all.

This tour was one of our highlights in Chile. It felt very authentic and we learned a lot. Would highly recommend!

Excellent tour super attentive guides. Fantastic horse ride through beautiful landscape. All very organized. Very nice wine
Thank you very much to Juan for his professionalism when booking the day. She began with the warm welcome of Felipe, our guide for the day. His friendliness, his availability, his kindness satisfied us!! He pampered us with his delicate attention! Thank you 1000X Felipe!! Lunch at Constanza, super nice gifted artist, the good mood of Rodrigo, the baker, the horseback ride with Don Mario, the visit of the Santa Ema vineyards with Christian who not only knows his subject perfectly but who because of his enthusiasm made the tasting very pleasant! Not only will you discover the valley of Maipo but above all you will meet very beautiful people who will make this day an exceptional memory! Thanks Felipe again! You are welcome in Belgium!! Bernadette
It was a wonderful experience, Felipe and Cristian took care of everything and made the day unforgettable. Felipe picked us up at the hotel and on the way we picked up Cristian, then they took us to have breakfast at Cony (who makes some spectacular wire sculptures) and then we continued on our way and arrived at Adolfo who had our horses ready for us and thus began a new adventure on horseback, Cristian and Adolfo guided us while Felipe prepared the food. On the way back we stopped where Felipe was and had lunch on the banks of the river and then we continued on our way back to leave the horses. Then we follow the Undurraga vineyards, another unforgettable experience (Cristian and Felipe were waiting for us) and then they dropped us back at the hotel. Thank you very much Guys for the laughter, the wine and the barbecue,
Excellent day spent with my partner. Horseback riding the best by far. The wine tasting was done in the Undurraga vineyard, one of the best in the world.
