At its northern terminus is Plaza de Armas metro station, whereas that at its southern end is Universidad de Chile metro station.
is the seat of the Archbishop of Santiago de Chile, currently Celestino Aós Braco, and the center of the archdiocese of Santiago de Chile. Construction of the neoclassical cathedral began in 1753 and ended in 1799. The architect was the Italian Gioacchino Toesca. Further alterations ordered at the end of the 19th century give it its present appearance.
La Moneda, is the seat of the President of the Republic of Chile. It also houses the offices of three cabinet ministers: Interior, General Secretariat of the Presidency and General Secretariat of the Government. It occupies an entire block in downtown Santiago

Is the former home of the Chilean Congress. Congress met in this building in central Santiago until Salvador Allende's socialist government was overthrown by Augusto Pinochet's military coup d'état on September 11, 1973. During the Pinochet dictatorship, Congress was moved to new premises in Valparaíso; the old building was declared a national monument in 1976 and between 1990 and 2006 housed the ministry of foreign affairs. The Senate moved its offices in Santiago to this building in December 2000
On top of the Santa Lucia hill, in the historic center of the city of Santiago, is El Castillo Hidalgo, a building built in 1816 during the Reconquest by order of the last Spanish Governor of Santiago, Casimiro Marco del Pont. It is one of the most important buildings in the history of the city.
+++ If Option Selected +++ Although it’s probably on all of the Top 5 tourist sites of Santiago, Cerro San Cristóbal is not overrated in the least. This big hill in the middle of the city affords one of the most incredible Santiago panoramas available. Every time I head up, my knowledge of the city has increased, and thus I am able to point out more landmarks, distinguish different sectors, etc. For those unfamiliar to Santiago, the view from up here will let you orient the city in its surroundings: the Andes Mountains and the Cordillera de la Costa.
+++ If Option Selected +++ This hill is actually quite the historical locale. First off, It is the remnant of a 15 million year old volcano. Secondly, the conquistadors used it as a lookout point when they were conquering Chile. It was atop this hill that Pedro de Valdivia declared the founding of Santiago in 1541. In 1872, governer Benjamin Vickuna Mackenna decided to turn the hill into a park to commemorate its significance in the city’s history. Since then, it has undergone many renovations. Today, it comprises 65,300 square meters, replete with bronze gates, metal stairways, and various fountains and statue
This is the financial sector in the upper area of our city

It is located in front of the northern facade of the Palacio de la Moneda and is surrounded by other government buildings such as those housing the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Banco Central de Chile and the Intendencia de Santiago
The church, along with the adjacent convent, is one of the oldest colonial-era buildings in the country. The church was consecrated in 1622.
The Centro Cultural Palacio La Moneda beneath Plaza de la Ciudadanía. A glass-slab roof floods the vaultlike space with natural light, and ramps wind down through the central atrium past the Cineteca Nacional, a state-run art-house movie theater, to two large temporary exhibition spaces that house some of the biggest touring shows to visit Santiago.
Is an area that lies between the Mapocho River and San Cristóbal Hill in Santiago, Chile. It is known as Santiago's bohemian quarter, with numerous restaurants, boutiques, avant-garde galleries, bars and clubs. Many of the city's intellectuals and artists live in Bellavista, and Pablo Neruda's house in Santiago, La Chascona
+++ If Option Selected +++ The park was created in April 1966, when incorporating the Chilean National Zoo and the services of San Cristóbal Hill, and is managed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development
The Biblioteca Nacional is, together with the Instituto Nacional and a small number of institutions, one of the first institutions created by the newly formed Republic of Chile in the Patria Vieja period. In the newspaper El Monitor Araucano, a Proclama de Fundación ("Proclamation of Foundation") of the Biblioteca Nacional was published on August 19, 1813. With this vision, a call was made to all the citizens to submit their books for the formation of one great public library
The building housing the Supreme Court of Chile, the Court of Appeals of Santiago, and the Court-martial Court of the Chilean Army, Chilean Air Force and Carabineros de Chile. It occupies a full block-front of Compañía Street between Bandera and Morandé Streets.
Chile’s most famous poet, Gabriela Mistral (1889 – 1957), significantly inspired the work of this cultural centre for her love of words, her democratic conviction and her dedication to education. Born as Lucila Godoy Alcayaga in the small town of Vicuña in north-central Chile, she started writing and working as a teacher and at the age of 15. At 25 she published her first mayor work, “Sonetos de la muerte”, which brought her the Chilean literary award in 1912.
The Torre Costanera, was designed by architect César Pelli and is 300 metres (980 ft) tall, making it the tallest building in Latin America and the second tallest in the Southern Hemisphere.
Parque Forestal is a large, narrow park dotted with numerous must-see locations in downtown Santiago. It borders the Mapocho River from Plaza Baquedano, also known as Plaza Italia, all the way to Estación Mapocho, a historical building and cultural center near the Puente Cal y Canto metro station. Mercado Central, La Vega, and the Bellas Artes museum are some of the other major destinations located in or adjacent to Parque Forestal.
This open-air complex of bars, restaurants, and shops, located on the corner of Pio Nono and Constitución, is a relatively recent addition to the culinary, nightlife, and cultural landscape of the city.
The Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts is one of the major centers for Chilean art and for broader South American art. Established in 1880 (making it the oldest in South America) The current building, the "Palace of the Fine Arts" dates to 1910 and commemorates the first centennial of the Independence of Chile. It was designed by the Chilean architect Emile Jéquier in a full-blown Beaux-arts style and is situated in the Parque Forestal of Santiago.
Bicentenario Park (Parque Bicentenario) is a nature park set on one side of the capital’s financial district, better known as “Sanhattan”. Discover this modern and well-tended park and enjoy walking across its extensive lawns. Watch the swans and other birds in its two artificial lagoons and have fun in its themed spaces for leisure activities and on walks with family or friends.
Nestled between the Mapocho River and Avenida Santa María, you’ll find Santiago’s Sculpture Park (Parque de las Esculturas). Opened in 1982, this park is a type of open-air art museum that was initially created to beautify an area of the city damaged by a flood of the Mapocho River. The park features impressive sculptures by different Chilean and international artists. In the summer months it’s not.

We had the most fantastic tour with our guides Janina and Mauricio around the major sights of Santiago on a half day. They took us to so many places of interest, we missed nothing. Great commentary in English from Janina. They were so knowledgeable , friendly and kind. We learnt so much about the city and Chilean culture. Picked up tips of places and restaurants etc for tge rest if our stay . It was so much fun too! Only 2 of us on the tour and it was very comfortable in the car, Mauricio is a great driver. Very punctual with great communication re arrangements. Don't hesitate to book thus. Muchas Gracias!! 🙂
The tour was excellent, No, we know so much history of Chile and Santiago, We saw a lot of beautiful places, and we fall in love with Santiago, The tour guide is very knowledgeable and and very friendly and very helpful to all group. It was wonderful experience to work to work with Lewis.
Daniel was friendly informative with good English. We enjoyed his company. I had a bad chest, so he was able to pace things well for me. We still saw plenty. The views up the chairlift hills was worth it. City colonial architecture was very attractive. Felt very safe throughout
This is an unreliable tour. We pay for the tour and waited in our hotel from 1pm until 4 pm and no one show up. We text the Viator helpline and also the tour group chat with no response. It is a scam as far as we concert. Do not book this tour. When we as Viator for refund after we get home from South America and they want us to have photo to prove. What kind of tour business is this? They know they didn’t pick us up and left us stranded in a foreign city and wast our precious travel time. A terrible experience and a mistake to use Viator as provider.
What a wonderful surprise to find out my friend and I had our own private tour with Giovanni! Exploring this beautiful city in a private vehicle was the perfect way to take in all the must-see sights and learn so much more than just the basics. Giovanni’s knowledge of the history, culture, and geopolitical background of this vibrant place really made the experience worthwhile. His English was great—and I even got to dust off my college Spanish. I highly recommend him and this tour company.
We loved the tour! Our guide, Christian, is very devoted and helped us on everything we needed, letting us take all the time we wanted at each spot to explore take pictures.
Our tour guide was fun, positive, knowledgeable and caring making our time so special. We, my wife and I, felt very well looking after all the time.
Jamie is a fantastic tour guide, he is very knowledgeable and affable. I forgot my valet in the car and he drove back 20 min to hand it to us. Amazing human being and has gone above and beyond to give us a great experience.
Nicely varied tour that covered a good amount of Downtown & some surrounding areas. Good overview. Sunday was a good day to take since traffic in Santiago is lighter.
The guide was on time and willing to adapt what we saw to the desire the four of us had. Super good value.
Great city tour . Christian is very nice . He’s picked us up on time , nice clean car with good AC . He’s very knowledgeable about Santiago . We got to see a lot of the city . Thank you Christian. Will definitely recommend this tour
Good mix of walking and mini bus activities. Saw all the major sites at a good pace. Both guide and driver excellent. Gave us some good tips on whatelse to see.
Consuelo was an absolute gem and it was a pleasure to visit Santiago with her. She spoke perfect English and was happy to tailor the afternoon to suit us .
This was the perfect way to start our trip to Santiago! We landed in the morning, rested and had lunch st our hotel, then went in this tour. Ignacio, our guide, was in touch with is beforehand and pickup was easy. His English was perfect and he was extremely knowledge about thr history of Chile and Santiago. He related information without overwhelming us and provided many helpful suggestions for the rest of our stay. I highly recommend this tour!
Beautiful places I love the streets and the neighborhood The only horriblemthing was the rush hour traffic Thank you for the sweet helpful guide
Christopher was knowable at was able to take us all over Santiago on rush hour....El tráfico no fue problema para conocer la Cuidad!
Do not book this tour - I repeat do not book this tour. I had one afternoon in Santiago so booked this tour weeks in advance. I tried getting in contact with the tour operator numerous times with questions I had and found it weird they weren’t responding but thought they’d respond closer to the tour time. As I boarded my 13.5 hour flight from Madrid to Santiago I luckily had my mobile data on and received an email stating my tour had been cancelled, 15 hours before it was supposed to start - no explanation or alternatives offered. Do not book this tour they will cancel on you with no notice and no time to book another tour - it will ruin your holiday! If I could give zero starts I would!!
Daniel was a great tour guide! I would highly recommend him. My one suggestion for him would be to clean the inside of his car before picking people up. I had white pants on and inside was very dusty/dirt and could barely see out of windshield. Minus that the actual tour & Daniel were great.
Driver Christian was very nice and friendly. However, nothing is worth mentioning about the tour, and the tour is not worth the money charged. Metropolitan Cathedral was the only thing on the tour for viewing and it was closed. There was an impressive and long list of "what to expect," in the tour description, but hardly anything of substance. Moreover, in the description at the time f booking, Cerro San Cristobal and Cerro Santa Lucia admission fees were included. However, we had to pay the entrance fees, and we saw only one place out of two.
Cable car ride and views at stop off points. Also walking tour of business and government offices area was informative
Variety of stops and historic district but driver didn’t seem too happy to put AC on when it was 94 degrees
Erick showed up earlier at the pickup place and notified us. He was knowledgeable and also noticeably prepared for guiding us through the trip. His English was fluent and easily understood. Unless other guides who would wait at the bottom, He went up the steps with us personally pointed the spots to us, which feels very nice and helpful. We learned a lot during the tour. The whole tour was a pleasant journey thanks to Erick.
The cathedral in Santiago is wonderful. Our guide took us to several other areas in town and then left us to walk back to our hotel. Unfortunately the tour only lasted 1 1/2 hours - nowhere close to a half day.
the private tour was outstanding! Erik was personal, friendly, passionate and knowledgeable. It was a perfect blend of walking and driving in the car.
Eric was a great tour guide! He took us all over Santiago and was very knowledgeable about the history of Chile. Would highly recommend!
I didn’t go on the tour. A private car came to pick me up. I was the only one to sign up for this tour. I was not comfortable getting into a private car with a strange man in a foreign country.
Daniel was great! Very knowledgeable and accommodating to what our interests were. Great introduction to Santiago and Chili!
Good guide, good local knowledge . Tour could be longer to see more of the City. Cerro San Cristobal mountain interesting the Funicular up gave you a great view of the city. There are many churches which appear interesting and should be on the itinerary
The half day tour of Santiago was outstanding. Our guide was a wealth of information especially concerning the political history of the country. He timed getting us to see the changing of the guards so we had a front row view of the procession. The gondola ride and the views from Cerro San Cristobal were wonderful and you could see all parts of the city.
Disappointing experience. The guide appeared knowledgeable with ok English but seemed exhausted and was not very personable. He responded to direct questions but there was little engagement otherwise.
They never showed up at the hotel to pick us up. We had a previous email that we were all set. Kept calling the number with no results. Asked the hotel conceriege for assistance and they told her they canceled it because they didn’t have enough people. Never informed us or did we see an apology. Don’t use these people, now waiting for a refund. Very, very disappointed as it was our only opportunity to see Santiago. Colleen Wilbur
Marcela was an excellent guide. She and the driver personalized the tour just for us. It was very interesting and so informative. Thank you!
San Cristobal Hill is closed on Mondays, which we did not know about until we were picked up. This was an important major highlight that resulted in our booking. We were the only ones on this Monday tour and Luis, the guide took us to other areas instead. He tried very hard to please us.
The information our tour guide gave us. He talked about the history of the city and the country. Really enjoyed it. Good value for money
MTO agency was a fiasco. We waited one hour on the day of the excursion and no one came, they had made a mistake on the day. We were foolish enough to rebook for the next day, and no one came either. The excuse was a vehicle problem, only after we waited past the time and complained. Totally unreliable, a bad experience. There is a what's app number to call, but no one responds to calls or texts! Unprofessional to say the least.
Yaman was the highlight of the tour. His knowledge and history was amazing. The Funicular was great.
I forgot our guide's name (tour on 28-Dec). We took this tour on our first day of arrival in Santiago . . . it was a nice overview, and the guide was very good in making sure his commentary was provided in both Spanish and English. He was friendly. However as we realized a few days later, the tour wasn't as complete as was suggested in the promotional material. Perhaps the tour is a bit more variable in content...? But there were some inconsistencies with what is noted as 'included' in the material that weren't quite so. For example: we may have 'seen' Santa Lucia from the top of San Cristobal, but we certainly did not visit it on this tour. The material suggests that the entry/admission to Cerro San Cristobal was included in the tour fee. To get to the statue/hilltop, you have to take a funicular which involves a fee that was NOT included in the tour. Further --- our guide stayed back at the waiting area while we all went to buy a ticket where we then found out there are a number of ticket options (all in Spanish). If this is your experience, you want only the ticket that takes you to the top; you don't want the zoo or the tram that goes to the other side; there is no time (on this tour) to do those things. So ask around (or ask the ticket-sales person) which ticket. All in all, this an ok tour. If nothing else, this was a nice diversion for our first day to help us stay awake after a very long travel experience.
The cathedral is absolutely amazing as well as the view from the Costanera. Our guide also gave a view of life in Chile
Romi and Giovanni were amazing. We had a great tour. Very informative and Santiago and Chile history and culture. Highly recommend!
This tour did not match the description of the tour. We didn’t make the second hill of the tour as was advertised. We did not see Plaza de Armas because guide thought it unsafe to get out even though there were many tour groups in the square There was no description of the sights that we passed. The Tour was a very very expensive drive around the city!! We had to return on our own to see the promised sights. A complete waste of money especially when paying for semi-private tour!
Our tour guide was very informative and showed us around the city explaining all the history about the buildings and Chilean culture. He gave a great recommendation for an authentic Chilean restaurant. Be aware this is mainly a walking tour but our guide was very accommodating and amended the activities as requested.
Jaun was very knowledgeable in the history of Santiago. He showed me the city in parts and explained the history or each neighborhood. My favorite was Santa Lucia Hill, he had a permit to drive up so we went to the top. Then I hiked up to the lookout point and it was well worth it.
It was magnificent. I had the luck to have Giovanni as a guide. With his help I was able to see more than I have expected. I can just recommend this Tour, especially for people with limited time in this beautiful city, and you’ll be very lucky if you’ll have Giovanni. He will tell you everything you need to know about the city and country.
Our guide Christian was amazing. We had a very personalized tour and great conversation. We were able to have a very local experience of Santiago.
The guy was lovely, but I am sure he did not know which tour I booked on to. We only went to one hill (I realised after the tour I booked 2) which he told me wasn’t included but because I didn’t have wifi I couldn’t double check my booking to see what was included, it was only 7000 peso but it should have been included. I also felt a bit awkward as it was only me and the guide, I did not book a private tour for this reason as prefer to meet others. So for this, really expensive tour for what I paid for
Christian was flexible, friendly & we had a great tour downtown. He really looked after my mum well with slowing down to her pace!
Our guide Hector Medina was very friendly, kind, knowledgable etc. etc. He is an excellent guide. I highly recommend him!! We really had a great time!!
We actually booked three things: 1. A private transfer from airport to Provedencia 2. Small group tour of Santiago with two hills 3. Small group tour of Valparaiso from Santiago The good: Was able to book transfer at the last minute online (more on that below) with some help from office via whatapp. The private transfer vehicle was roomy, clean and the driver was very courteous - but did not speak English, This was not an an issue for the transfer ride. The tour guide was the same for both tours. The Santiago tour ended up being a private tour for the two of us. The Valaparisio tour had 7 people. Our Guide Patricio was knowledgeable, friendly and answered questions with ease and good command of English. Lunch (not included in Valparaiso tour price) was at a seafood restaurant with a great view of the water and excellent service and delectable Ceviche! The bad: Both tours were basically driving around tours. In Santiago we had three stops one each at the two hills and another one at closed museum to admire the architecture. On the Valparaiso tour we did not stop at the historic area. It was a drive through. We did stop at a good high vantage point for an overview of the area. So both tours were more of an overview/ drive highlights. The Valparaiso tour had 7 of us in a van probably meant for 8 or 9 people. Not an ideal situation in terms of comfort. Bookings could only be done on Tripadvisor/Viator sites which was a bit inconvenient. A side point: Private transfer was not cheap. I was able to book a hotel to airport transfer for about half of the cost of MTO transfer with another company (which I reviewed separately). Conclusion: Not bad, and met basic expectations. But did not knock my socks off, as they say.
Excellent half day we really really enjoyed it great tour guide showed many terrific spots of interest
