1 Day Tour Of Isla Negra Algarrobo And Viña Undurraga From Santiago

This tour is A LOT of driving for mediocre payoff. You can skip this one — unless you have plenty of extra time. This tour is advertised as 8-9 hours. It was 11-12 hours. Pick up was at 7:40 a.m. Drop off was at 19:00. And our van driver was aggressive, going fast. We spent more than 90-minutes picking up passengers before ever getting on the road to the destinations. Isla Negra, this home of Pablo Neruda, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature, is quite unique but it is a long way away from Santiago and you only get one hour on the ground there. Tour advertised as admission included but we had to all purchase our own entry ticket for $30US. Undurraga Winery is on pretty grounds but there are much closer wineries to Santiago with the same quality. And the world’s largest saltwater pool is at an absolutely dead development. No one around. You cant get in it. You can’t even see it all when you’re there to appreciate its enormity. In addition, I booked a tour in English and neither the guide nor the driver spoke English. Despite that, despite having to purchase additional tickets and the tour lasting much longer in the van than advertised, Morandé Tourismo of Santiago, Chile refused any partial refund. There are a lot of good tour operators in Chile. Morandé Tourismo is unfortunately not one of them. Save your time and money.

First point: confirm the departure time with the agency, above 7:00 am is not worth it. We picked them up at that time and after picking up the other passengers at the accommodations, we left the city for more than 10 hours. We arrived at Isla Negra almost noon with the guide rushing to take us to the restaurant in Algarrobo. We didn't have time to enjoy and admire the landscape of Isla Negra beach, nor did we go to Pablo Neruda's house. Peces Gordos Restaurant food 5/10 environment with only 1 women's bathroom huge lines, no changing station or preferential bathroom. The environment is small and the tents they use make the environment more stuffy, I felt like I was in a greenhouse. Undurraga Winery 10/10 place with landscape and history.

It was a cool walk to do, but I would never do it again. The Undurraga vineyard is pretty and we learned a lot of different things there. Meeting Algarrobo was pretty cool, there is beautiful, but the restaurant we had lunch stayed the wish. Isla Negra is beautiful, but not worth the trip, as there is nothing to do, just see the beach. Our guide was Micaela and the driver Nicolas, they led us very well.
