Thorough but kept interest. Very comprehensive. Guide was pleasant and funny! Museum part was especially interesting.

Truly outstanding tour giving the historical context and bringing the building of the cathedral to life. If you enjoyed Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth, hearing Mater Matteo's story was like discovering the real story behind the book! Fascinating and great to go behind the scenes with our excellent guide Carolina.
To Virginia with exceptional! Space she was very knowledgeable of Christianity, Catholicism, everything about the Cathedral Santiago de Compostela, and even to details, such as what what was used the sculpture/carvings. She sent on the material in a humorous, witty style that was very enjoyable. However, I had expected to spend more time around and inside the cathedral than the museum.
Our guide was incredibly passionate, humorous and easy to listen to on the tour. I believe her name was Caroline. Young, self identified history guide. Pure fun, interesting and worth it.
Carolina gave a wonderful tour to both the cathedral and the portico. She was extremely knowledgeable and helped us understand what we were seeing. It is obvious she is passionate about the cathedral and its significance. She supported her talk with photos of areas so we could see details. I highly recommend her.
The tour and information given was so worth it. Learning about the history of the cathedral and about different aspects of particular pieces of the art and statues etc is so interesting. Make sure you see the Portico of Glory the original entrance to the cathedral. The whole cathedral is amazing both inside and out. Would highly recommend a tour to get a fuller experience of the cathedral and museum.
Very informative, every pilgrim has to experience. This is not fare to ask for 100 characters minimum. Who came with that idea.
Terrific, George, I think was our guide and really informative, friendly, and kept the group educated and informed!
We had Patricia as our guide from Optimus tours. She was relaxed, fun, kind and very knowledgeable about the history and context of the Cathedral. Her English was extremely good and her love and enthusiasm for her job can shining through. The tour took about 2 hours which was pretty tiring after walking the Camino, so factor that into a restful day. Loved to see the alter up close and the Portico ticket was worth the extra.
Cathedral fabulous. Guide not so great. She talked too much about the wrong things. There was very little about history or culture or artists. Many pieces not discussed at all. The cathedral offers a wealth of artifacts to consider.
There is so much to see. The tour cannot cover it all, but you are welcome to see m more on your own.
This is a nice trip through the Cathedral. Our docent was knowledgeable and helpful. At times her Spanish was difficult to understand, but she was always helpful and willing to repeat.
Our guide really did not connect with the group. There was no overview buts lots of detail that most could not follow. When we finally made it to the cathedral we were told we could not see the remains or statue of St James. We went back the next day by ourselves and saw both.
The guide, Patricia, was so knowledgeable and had a gentle and peaceful spirit. She was very thorough, took care of the group and provided so much unique history and modern perspective. She answered every question and gladly gave input on how to see and do other activities, find a restaurant, etc. We did two tours back to back. History and Cathedral.
Maria, Our guide was knowledgeable and great explanations regarding the cathedral, relics and St Jame’s. I toured the cathedral 3 years ago and this guide by far was the best.
Guide was so knowledgeable and answered every question with ease! . She had a an amazing sense of humor and was perfect in every part of her presentation! Well done.
Well worth it. Historical significance.
Good all around review of the cathedral, its history, construction and the religious context. Meri was our guide and did a very nice job. Excellent English.
Fantastic guide, very engaging and communicative~
The Cathedral was a magnificent history of the area and church. The museum was extensive and our guide Meri did a great job of lecturing about the different eras and contribution to the building of the Catherdral. I find these ornate churches with so much folklore and history fascinating We also went into the alter and saw the tomb and other sacred artifacts.
It was a great experience, very well informed tour guide . loved all the information she had to offer..
Mari happy and animated and informative. I learned a lot.
Jorge was an excellent guide, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. He navigated our group through busy crowds with great skill. Thanks Jorge.
Maria was extremely knowledgeable on this amazing cathedral, its architecture, and its history.
This was a most informative tour! We learned about the history and construction of the Cathedral, and the art within it. Our guide Jorge was informative, interesting, and funny.
The guide Mary was very knowledgeable about everything we saw. She was easy to understand. I saw all the things I was hoping to see.
Our guide Maria was good, very knowledgeable about the subjects, spoke clearly English, and answered our questions. It was educational. Highly recommend the tour.
Tour guide Carolina was informative with a fun interaction with those attending the tour. I'd give her 2 thumbs up for her concise attentive and informative tour.
The guide was perhaps my favorite of all time. She was knowledgeable and extremely enthusiastic, she knew about history and culture and art. VERY highly recommended, I learned a lot
It was a very informative and helpful tour. Highly recommend it. Our guide was knowledgeable and easy to follow
The tour was great. Our guide Carolina was very knowledgeable about the history of the Cathedral and did an excellent job steering us through it so we could have a good experience. Highly recommend!
Our guide, Carolina, was very very knowledgeable and so enjoyable. Such a fun and enjoyable way to learn about such a long and interesting history of this cathedral. Thank you so much!
I joined a guided tour of the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral yesterday and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The cathedral itself is stunning, but what truly made the visit special was our guide, Irene. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history and shared everything in a clear, engaging way that kept us interested throughout. Beyond her expertise, Irene created such a warm and friendly atmosphere that made the whole group feel comfortable and involved. It didn’t feel like just a tour, but a genuinely enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this guided tour to anyone visiting Santiago—it’s a fantastic way to fully appreciate the cathedral.
Our guide Maria was so knowledgeable and able to bring us together and enjoy a 21/2 hour guided tour where the time passed so quickly. She explained everything clearly and in context.
What a edifying and fun tour with knowledgeable guide Virginia! A great way to get an overview of the Cathedral and some of Santiago's rich history, including for those who think they already know a bit.
Carolina was a fantastic guide - friendly, super knowledgeable and approachable. We found this tour very entertaining and informative. Highly recommended!
Not bad but not enough time in the cathedral. About half an hour outside on the plaza learning the history before entering the cathedral museum, then a quick stop at the back of the cathedral and a few rooms within but never got to see the front up close.
Very knowledgeable tour guides! Amazing to see this beautiful place! Recommend this if you love history as well!
Such a beautiful, spiritual and historic place. The guide was fantastic! Virginia truly had incredibly interesting history and facts, shared una fun and charming manner.
If you want to see the portico please make sure that’s included in your reservation, some people apparently weren’t aware they had only reserved the cathedral tour. Our guide Paula was spectacular.
Great guide !! We learned so much and the guide was humorous and fun !! Really worthwhile and enjoyable !!
Our guide was amazing. She was funny, spirited and clearly passionate and brought the Santiago to life with her knowledge
Simple tour of the Cathedral but well explained. You get to see the museum and Portico. You can also do this on your own but if you want some background knowledge then book the tour.
Ver informative and interesting experience. Our guide shared some great background to bring the tour alive
Such an amazing tour. Jorge was so knowledgeable and really taught us a lot. I added the portico tour and was able to witness a mass too. Highly recommend!!
I had the most amazing tour with Virginia. She was beyond knowledgeable about the church’s history, architecture, and artifacts. I’ve never had a better guide and would recommend going on this tour!
I really enjoyed this tour of the Cathedral and the Portico in Santiago de Compostella. Our guide Carolina was great and the history behind St James and the Cathedral was very interesting. I would recommend this tour to visitors.
We were supposed to take the tour at 10:00. Get notification that they had to reschedule to 12:00. Ok. Get there in good time. Tour guide arrives 10 mins prior to Tour. Takes group to shady spot to give preview. Ok. Spends the at least 30 minutes rambling on the history of the cathedral, goes off on tangents. Meanwhile, Tour is described as 45 mins for the museum, 45 minutes for the cathedral, and 30 minutes for the Portico option which we had. After his ramblings we then go to the museum where he spends almost the full 45 minutes explaining some of the exhibits and st times again, going off in a tangent. We get to the cathedral where spent roughly 15 mins and were informed that the Tour of the portico would be delayed until 2:45. Meaning we missed our window to visit and would have to stick around another hour to visit on our own. Which we could not do. Would've been better to buy tickets in advance and do it on your own.
Impressive structure it was ther before the discovery of the new world
The headsets were helpful in hearing the guide. It was great to listen to the guide and just follow without having to navigate. Jorge did a great job with our small group of eight.
