After my Xamino, I booked a private tour and had Adrian as my tour guide. Worth every penny. He was knowledgeable, a native of Santiago, and gave me such good history. The cathedral was amazing! He also gave me some good tips for the rest of my day!

Itinerary
This expansive plaza is the heart of Santiago de Compostela and home to several of the city's most important buildings, including the cathedral, the Palacio de Raxoi (seat of the regional government), and the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos (a former hospital that now serves as a luxury hotel). The plaza is a popular gathering place for pilgrims and visitors alike, and its size and grandeur make it an impressive sight to behold. Your guide will explain you the origin of the city, the cathedral and what does Obradoiro means.
This grand cathedral is the final destination of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and a breathtaking example of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque architecture. Inside, visitors can admire the Pórtico de la Gloria, a stunning masterpiece of medieval sculpture, and the Botafumeiro, a giant incense burner that swings through the nave during special ceremonies. Around the Cathedral retains a valuable historic centre worthy of one of the greatest holy cities of Christianity.
This square is one of the main symbols of Santiago, and is named after the many shops of silver articles in its arcades. You will see a 19th Century Fountain, Casa del Cabildo and Casa de los Canónigos.
Here is located the oldest convent in the city: San Paio de Antealtares. From here you can also see the Portico Real of the Cathedral, the towers Berenguela and Torre del Reloj and the Puerta del Perdon (which opens only in a Holy Year)
This massive baroque monastery was once one of the wealthiest and most powerful institutions in Spain, with extensive lands and properties across Galicia. Today, visitors can tour the monastery's ornate chapel, library, and refectory, as well as its beautiful cloisters and gardens.
Located in Plaza de Azabachería
This lively indoor market is a food lover's paradise, with dozens of stalls selling fresh seafood, meat, cheese, produce, and other local specialties. Visitors can sample some of Galicia's famous octopus, enjoy a glass of wine or vermouth, and soak up the bustling atmosphere of the market.
This picturesque park offers stunning views of the city and the surrounding countryside, as well as plenty of green space for walking, picnicking, and relaxing. The park is home to several monuments and sculptures, including the Monumento a los Héroes de la Guerra de Independencia (a tribute to Galician soldiers who fought in the War of Independence), and is a popular spot for watching the sunset over Santiago de Compostela.

This is a great tour to learn about Santiago of Compostela and the cathedral. Martin our guide was really knowledgeable and was giving us just the right level of information. Great tour in lovely area!
It would be helpful to do a little homework ahead of time because there's just so much to learn and, after a while, it's hard to remember everything. Also, bring a snack and water
Delores was very warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. Three of us (me, my husband, and my 81-year-old mother-in-law) drove to Compostela from Porto for the day, and we wanted an introduction to the Cathedral and Old Town. Delores fit in a lot of details in a short time. We really enjoyed our tour and recommend it.
Patricia was very knowledgable, efficient and flexible with our schedule. We really appreciated her insight into the history of many of the building, statues and events. She kept us moving along without making us feel rushed. She was very nice.
We loved Patricia. She was very knowledgeable, patient and professional. She was flexible and explained things in a way we could understand.

Excellent guide, with a lot of knowledge about Santiago de Compostela history, the cathedral and Santiago Apostol background, great visit with Carlos. Short visit but enough to what we were looking for.
Valuable to understand the history behind the cathedral and St James himself! We only had the time to do this activity, but a worthwhile introduction to what could be a memorable experience… if one decides to do the Camino walk!
Our tour guide arrived on time at our hotel, she was very knowlegable and considerated of some health issues we had for the walk, it was a pleasure to walk wth her anh hear her explanations, this tour was worth every penny and we recomend it.
Our tour guide, Dolores, was FANTASTIC! She was knowledgeable and really tailored the experience to meet our interests!
Carlos was an amazing guide, lots of Local knowledge and insight. Made the city come alive with details we would not have noticed on our own.
Our tour guide Dolores is fantastic!! She is originally from this town and she knows a lot about history, local food, and culture. She knows all the other tour guides and we were given special attention and “skip the line” tickets to the cathedral. She is a true professional and took a lot of time to explain everything. Awesome experience!
Visiting the Cathedral and crypt of St. James and surrounding buildings was very enlightening. Seeing so many pilgrims at the end of their journey to Santiago De Compostela was inspiring.
Excellent tour. Our tour guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour. It was a good way to visit the city.
We had a great tour of Santiago with Carlos! He is an excellent guide and native of the city who gave us a great historical summary of the city. He knows the cathedral and its history, architecture and art very well and kept us engaged with his explanations. We would highly recommend this tour and Carlos as a guid!
A complete explanation of Compostela De Santiago, the history, the people and the Cathedral among other noteworthy structures including a multitude of churches.
Dolores was the perfect tour guide. She is knowledgeable, polite and articulate. We had a wonderful tour!
The entire experience was great from start to finish. Loved the facts, legends and history. Patricia also helped with useful information such as suggestions for restaurants, etc.
Pedro was a fantastic guide, good English, very knowledgeable and good company. Highly recommended as we learnt so much that we certainly would have missed if we had gone alone.
It is a spectacular city has a lot of history, its main square has a very nice view towards what is the cathedral.
