Highly recommend this tour as it is a great way to orientate to your way around Santiago and the culture. Our guide, Carol was friendly and knowledgeable. She was punctual, professional, and responsive to the group’s needs and questions.
Nice bit of history around the cathedral. Not much walking. Caroline was a great guide. Good English
We took the 10 am tour, and finished in time to get in the line for the mass at the cathedral.
Excellent tour the guide was very knowledgeable , lots of interesting facts great tour
Nice tour, I got to know a little bit more about the history of Santiago de Compostela as well as the Cathedral besides just arriving from the Camino. We also learned about other areas of the old city. Our tour guide Irene was great, knowledgeable and funny.
A really interesting walk around the old town giving the history of the Cathedral and surrounding buildings.
Meri was a terrific guide. She was knowledgable, amusing, and entertaining. I highly recommend this tour
Very fun and informative tour! Our guide, Caroline, was funny and had lots of personal stories and insights about Santiago. Highly recommend!
Excellent overview of Santiago de Compostela. Patricia was fantastic, knowledgeable and patient with the large group. The ear pieces worked well.
Excellent walking tour, well-paced with lots of interesting details about Santiago and its history and culture.
Great tour; our guide was very interesting and funny-made the whole place come alive
Very informative and useful tour for further city explorations. Our guide George was very knowledgeable.
Our guide was very knowledgeable. We learned so much about St. James, the cathedral, the early pilgrims, and the history of the city.
This was my 5th time to Santiago and the first time I decided to take the historic city tour and I am so glad I did. I thought I knew a lot about Santiago, but our tour guide knew so much more. She told us so many surprising and interesting stories about this beautiful city. I highly recommend this tour.
Carolina is an excellent guide and helped us understand a little bit of Santiago history in a short time. Our walk was history spiked with humor, best places to eat , best bakery and all questions answered. Highly recommend!
Our guide was great, informative and funny. And she managed to give us all of the information while still keeping us in the shade the whole time!
great tour to learn about the history of Santiago definitely worth booking they have ear pieces so you can hear everything very easily and wander away from the group a little
Carolina made this tour so interesting and engaging with lots of humour thrown in. Would highly recommend
Patricia was a great tour guide. This is a nice, thorough, relatively short tour that covers all the main sites around the Catedral. Very worthwhile. Our group of 8 really enjoyed it.
A solid, enjoyable walking tour! We got to explore a lot of the city on foot, and it was very educational from start to finish. Our guide was exceptionally nice and made the walk fly by. Highly recommend it if you want to see a lot and learn the local history!
Superb guide and just enough detail ans perfectly timed at each location! Quirky sense of humour - defo recommend
A guided tour is well worth it. However, for the tour guide himself, this was just 'another day at the office'. So he rattled through what he had to tell, so fast that I found it hard to understand him at times. Understanding was not helped by the poor quality of his microphone which sometimes just stopped working and never gave great audio. At the very end he asked 'Any questions?'. I replied, 'Yes, why was this project ever begun back in 1882?' His answer was very illuminating. Why the information he gave us is not included in the standard script is a mystery - and certainly a loss.
Great opportunity to learn more about the city from a local guide. Not only did we hear about the history of the old city but also got top recommendations about other things to do and see locally and good places to eat.
Virginia was an excellent guide.
Fab tour perfect length Virgina was a great guide. Very numerous and great history. Recommend highly.
Excellent informative tour by our guide Carolina - she was full of enthusiasm and detailed knowledge. Would highly recommend.
This tour was of the exterior architecture, figures, and history of the cathedral as well as the surrounding buildings. Jorge was very knowledgeable and gave some great inside tips of local spots around the Old Town.
Lovely and very knowledgeable guide. However either the equipment or very heavy accent made it difficult to fully understand at times
I thought our tour guide (Virginia) did an excellent job giving us unique historical insights around the old town of Santiago de Compostela. Highly recommend; worth every penny.
It was a great experience! I definitely recommend this tour.
They need to know how to identify their guide as we had to ask several guides if they were our guide.
Irene was kind and funny and knowledgeable. Maybe less joking and more talking about the boundaries of old town and who lives there and what trades or crafts people work in the area. A bit about those kneeling beggars. I think it would be helpful if all received name and address of recommendations after the tour.
why did i pay money up front for a free tour that viator didnt give???? no transparency. viator didnt disclose they were not giving the tour
Our guide was excellent... a nice mix of fact and humour and kept whole group engaged. Saw parts of Santiago I'd have missed if I didn't do tour. Identified buildings and statues I've passed a d didn't realise significance.
Informative—almost too much so. Speaking more slowly even if not as much information would be helpful.
Carolina was a very well informed guide, bringing history to relevant life with humor mixed in. Spent nearly 2 hrs, giving recommendations as well for restaurants and other activities
Excellent tour. Our guide was so well informed and very helpful. We got a great sense of the history and would recommend.
Don’t expect a lot of historical substance and quality details, it is more a casual and jovial talk & walk.
There was only the 10 am daily offering for an English tour. With travelling arrangements, we stayed overnight to enable catching the 10 am start. They arrived 9:50 am. The tour guide's English was extremely difficult to understand. Storyline was hard to grasp. Disappointed with the walking tour in English.
Maria did a fantastic tour and explained a lot about the most famous places in the old town! Would recommend even if your Spanish is not perfect!
Excellent introduction to Old Town by our English speaking guide “mire” …Very well done. Good sense of history and humor.
A very informative insight into all sorts of stories, experiences and culture. It's a beautiful city with many 'hidden secrets' to discover.
Do it as soon as you can on arrival to Santiago. A great orientation for the old town with great history.
Irene was a fantastic guide - humorous and informative. Kept a great pace and highlighted facts and pointed out things that’d you’d easily miss if you were walking round by yourself. So good we’ve booked on the cathedral tour tomorrow!
In June, 2025, my wife and I and another couple hired Gabe to show us around Cape Town and the surrounding wine country. We had used Gabe twice before when he was a safari guide to four countries in South Africa and a second time for a guided tour along South Africa's garden route. My wife and I have been traveling extensively for over 20 years and have hired hundreds of guides. Without a doubt, Gabe is among the very best. He can put together almost any type of tour from golfing, to birding, to big game watching to city tours and especially wine country tours. Gabe speaks several languages and has an amazing knowledge of history, wildlife, native birds, S A Sports and can converse clearly on almost any subject about Africa. On our recent tour, one member has mobility issues. Gabe made sure she was comfortable and had the space for the equipment she needed to get around including a specious van with comfortable seating. Whether it is a Big Five safari adventure, a week golfing in SA, a birding adventure ( We identified over 100 species new to us on one of Gabe's tours), a foodie tour of SA, or an in depth tour of Cape Town's four major wine regions, Gabe will make certain your entire party is looked after. Gabe will furnish you estimated costs so that there are no surprises and customizes each tour to your needs. He is absolutely one of the best guides you will ever encounter. Gabe can be reached at gabetours157@gmail.com.
Great historical information on the formation of the basilica and the surrounding area. A must when you want to find where to go during your visit.
Miri was bubbly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. A really entertaining experience and very useful start to our stay in Santiago. The earbud provided further enhanced the tour. Would definitely recommend
Unfortunately I didn't get the guides name! She was absolutely lovely. Very funny and witty. Made us all laugh. She was very knowledgeable and obviously enthusiastic about the old quarter of Santiago. We learnt a lot about the area. I Would recommend this little tour. It's short and sweet and we didn't have a lot of time. Am so sorry I didn't get her name. She describes herself as short! Good goods come in small packages! (One small thing is maybe she could speak a little slower). Everyone had earpieces and she speaks in English but sometimes you have to concentrate hard to understand everything with the unaccustomed Spanish names and words and the outside noise interference. Otherwise very good..
Well organized and thorough description. Careful explanation, informative, answered questions. Friendly approach. I would recommend it
