Itinerary
This mystical place, established in the 9th century, certainly deserves to be known in depth, accompanied by a nice walk. Its importance is not only related to its history, but its location must be taken into account, that is, on the shores of one of the most admirable beaches in Galicia. In all this, we cannot absolutely forget that this temple hosts and offers definitely popular moonlight rituals, which makes it even more unique in its kind.
To arrive in this picturesque town, one of the most beautiful in Spain, located on the banks of the Ría de Pontevedra, we will cross part of the bay of Poio. All this beauty is conferred on it by a giant rock on which it is built, by the granaries with which it is surrounded, by the houses that overlook the sea and by several typical Galician stone crosses, called "Cruceiros", which are on the site. Walking through the characteristic streets and squares of this place, therefore, one has the possibility of making a true and authentic journey through time, as well as visiting an area of great ecological value.
This relaxing island, famous for its soap production and its thermal waters, is located in an area called « Red Natura 2000 », but it does not end here: we can find a small museum of the old soap factory and a fully covered chapel of shells.
A tour over the sea, through which you can admire and face directly with the production of mussels, oysters and scallops; we will make different stops to be able to contemplate the watering holes and then be able to taste steamed mussels in large quantity accompanied by one of the best local wines and a good shot of Creme de Orujo. After finishing the boat tour, you will have approximately 90 minutes for lunch on your own, enjoying the famous Galician gastronomy in the heart of O Grove, where you will find a wide variety of restaurants and culinary options for all tastes.
We will visit a typical wine cellar of the area called Albariño wine. This stop gives us the opportunity to taste and try an Albariño wine.
Visit the charming village of Cambados, famous for being the heart of Albariño wine production. Stroll through its historic streets, admire its elegant stately homes and picturesque squares, and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the place. A perfect stop to experience Galician culture, history and cuisine.

We had an amazing time visiting “las Rías Baixas” in this tour! We did the tour that included the boat ride and a winery. The winery experience was excellent! The sites/towns we visited were beautiful and the boat to see “bateas”, with all you can eat mussels and Albariño wine was super fun and delicious!! Our tour guide, Noel, was amazing!
Fun day out. Good value for money. Interesting stops in picturesque towns
This tour greatly exceeded our expectations!!! We were looking forward to an interesting experience but ended up being wowed at every stop. The magical waterfront of Combarro was a special favorite as was the so-worth-it optional mussel boat excursion - fabulous! Our guide Mary did a great job of sharing insights and history as well as making sure we didn’t get lost! Would highly recommend this tour and don’t miss out on the optional mussel boat adventure!
We had a wonderful excursion and an unforgettable experience! Ana was absolutely fantastic—so friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the entire trip. She made sure we felt comfortable and truly enjoyed every moment. A special thank you to Antonio, our driver, who was professional, friendly, and drove safely. Together, Ana and Antonio made the excursion even more special. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable experience. Thank you, Ana and Antonio, for a fantastic day! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The tour is fun n got lots of check points, plus the tour guide is nice. The mussels provided on boat re fresh n delicious!! It’s the Highlight of the tour🎉
Unpacked day visit g the region. Saw so many different beautiful places.
Great tour with very knowledge guide (Ana) who knew the area very well. She spoke in both Spanish and English. Would certainly recommend this tour to anyone who wants a day out from Santiago. The driver was also very good(Jose).
This is a beautiful area of the country. I really enjoyed the boat trip- the platforms they use to cultivate shellfish are really interesting to see, and with all the free wine and mussels, it basically turned into a party boat on the way back!! Really enjoyable day.
Excellent guide Alexi and beautiful places to see. Great way of seeing multiple places when you do t want to drive
We had an amazing day ,out tour guide was brilliant ,she was very friendly and very knowledgeable about our day trip
Perfectly well organized tour along Galicia's coastline to Finisterre with well selected stops for indvidual or group exploration of interesting spots. David is an oustanding bilingual guide, knowledgable, with a very god sense of humour. He connects with great esse to any international group and is of excellent advise.
The tour itself was very good. Lucia who was the tour guide was excellent and the value was also excellent; however, the description for the tour is misleading. First of all it goes to only 1 small winery that only has 1 wine to taste. Secondly, the description makes it seem that you are visiting a soap factory, when in fact you only visit an island that used to have a soap factory many years ago. I think the description of the tour should be changed to accurately describe the tour.
In this trip we visited beautiful villages, some full of history, other medieval towns, costal Villages with breathtaking scenery
Excellent tour. Very nice guide and interesting activities. Mussel boat was great fun and there was lots to eat and drink. Coach was comfortable and stops were all interesting.
A great day as the sun was shining and most of our group were a lot of good fun. Take the optional mussel boat tour, it includes all you can eat mussels & wine (admittedly cheap, but certainly drinkable) with some great energising Spanish dance music to finish. The rest of the afternoon was a bit of a snooze and thank heavens we had a stop to sober up, take a walk and get some coffee. In all a fun day out in the country side which is lovely.
Excellent tour visiting different locations. All locations are great, all different. Our guide (sorry, I can't remember your name!) was lovely, she was informative, chatty, funny and welcomed questions and chat. I really enjoyed the cruise part, lots of information about the growing of mussels etc in the bay and the importance of this to the local economy. I loved the mussels that you get to eat!! The staff just kept coming with more! They were delicious and washed down with white wine🙃. The walk around Cambarro as a last stop was excellent. A pretty little town with so many horreos!
Our tour guide Noelle was amazing and had such good energy throughout the whole day! I would highly recommend this trip if you want to see and experience the wine and seafood scene of Galicia. My partner definitely enjoyed the Mussel boat the most!
A great variety of activities Winery tour was ok Shell chapel was neat, forget the soap Little village was cool Best part was the mussel boat Noel, our guide and Vincente, our driver were top notch!!
We had a wonderful time on our excursion to Rias Baixas! Noel, our tour guide, was so friendly and helpful, and also entertaining. I liked that our group was not too large, and our tour bus was comfortable. The best part of the trip was the mussel boat ride that provided us with unlimited mussels and wine, and also singing and dancing! We would recommend this excursion for anyone with an extra day in Santiago. It lasted from 10 until 7, which is a long day, but was worth the money.
A very enjoyable day out & Noelle our tour guide was exceptional. Great fun & lots of information provided about the area
Amazing experience! A wonderful way to see and experience the area! Our tour guide, Noria, was knowledgeable and great fun! The boat was our favorite part, so be sure to include. Would highly recommend!
Great views of Alborinho vineyards and countryside. Awesome stroll through original village area. Mussel boat trip a lot of fun.
Fabulous day. guide Alex was informative and helpful. Highlight definitely the boat and mussel tour. Was a party at 11.30am. Spaniards sure know how to have fun. Singing and dancing and unlimited freshly steamed mussels and wine. The shell church and donkey story were great and also loved the Roman church and beach stop. The fishing village, Combarro, was amazing (old town area) and beautiful however for us was way to busy and impossible to get a seat anywhere for drink, coffee or lunch. Would have been great to be forewarned a few days prior to enable a chance to book a restaurant for those that wanted. Just a small suggestion for an otherwise wonderful day. Oh and the winery was interesting as well, great to have a tour with the actual winemaker. Bus driver also excellent 😀
Amazing experience guided by Alexis and Jose, I would recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to spend a day a wonderful day getting to know Galicias incredible Rias Baixas.
We had an excellent trip to Rias Biaxas yesterday with Galicia Travels, booked through Get Your Guide. Our guide, Alexis, was great from the start, making everyone feel included and relaxed. Likewise, our bus driver, Manolo, was professional and drove safely all the way. Alexis' commentary was informative and interesting delivered with a great sense of humour. The trip included a lot of interesting places including a trip to an Alboriño vineyard, where we had an opportunity to taste the wine, a boat trip to explore mussel, oyster and scallop farming on platforms when we ate as many mussels as we could eat, washed down with more wine. We also visited a couple of pretty villages in the Rias and a fortress used to protect against Viking invasions. There was also an opportunity to have a quick dip in the ria, which was very refreshing. Finally I would thoroughly recommend this trip if you want to find out more about Galicia, its culture, history and beautiful coastline.
The boat trip was really interesting and amazing service - the bat part was the service the captain and the food - will do this again definitely.
All aspects of this tour were great. The bus ride was very comfortable. All the things we did were fun. The mussel boat ride was great. Do not miss that. Nora our guide was very informative and very fluent in English.
Noel was a fantastic guide, giving us lots of interesting information with her special humor. We loved the mussel boat and the Albariño tasting at a local winery as well. It was a wonderful day well spent.
It’s a must tour if you have a spare day in Santiago. Wine tasting, boat tour with unlimited mussels plates and wine which you are sharing with seagulls, having an amazing opportunity for videos and photos. Very well organised by Galicia travels. I have done 3 tours with this company and they never disappointed me.
The tour guide was very knowledgable and spoke in Spanish and then in English that was easily understandable. The pace of the day was good and the boat segment with muddles and wine was so much fun! The only downside was that the winery representative only spoke Spanish so English only speakers couldn’t understand. The bus was so comfortable and the driver very capable.
A must do excursion. All was well organized, great places to visit and a wonderful informative guide Nego I would definately do this again
Fun day trip. Got to learn more about the Rias Baixas area. Really enjoyed the wine tasting at a family winery and the boat ride. Got a chance to stroll around charming small town like Combarro, Toja. Noe was a great tour guide.
We had a fabulous day out on this trip. The boat tour was very much worth the extra add on costs. Tray after tray of fresh local mussels were brought out and the wine was just as generous. Fully recommend this trip for a day out of seeing the coast. All stops were worth a look and we also enjoyed learning out the local winery and production within the area.
Really fun day. We booked this tour right at the Galacia travel office in Santiago and did this tour and their Fisterre/ Muxia tour. Both were excellent. I recommend if you have 2 extra days in Santiago after walking the Camino. It’s a fun trip.
We had a great time visiting a family vineyard and traveling down to the coast. The scenery was beautiful! The highlight of the day was going on the mussel boat and eating unlimited mussels and drinking unlimited white wine! We sat with a group of twenty something year olds and had a blast! By the end of the boat ride it started raining and all the people on the boat were dancing in the rain to music and having a great time! I can’t remember the name of the last town we went to but it was charming. It was built up over the water with small alleys that all peaked out to the sea! There were beautiful shops and tavernas, but unfortunately for us, it was pouring so we had to run through the alleys with our umbrellas to the shops and restaurants and were not able to really appreciate the beauty.
I loved the mussel cruise, they brought out a tray of mussels and a bottle of wine and when we finished they brought out more! The explanations about harvesting the mussels was really interesting too
The trip sites were well planned and we spent an enjoyable day with amazing views. The mussel boat trip was amazing. We really enjoyed it. The routes and walking plan were okay for a seven-year-old child.
A well planned and well paced day tour. Our guide was excellent and great fun. The visit to the family run Albariño winery was great.
Wine tasting. Atlantic coast chapel. Our guide Noria was excellent. Shetold excellent stories and was very well informed.
I don't recommend for English-speakers as it's not really worth it in this case. The guide had very good English and gave explanations in both languages, but in the winery I only got a very short and poor overview and on the boat there was no English information. The mussels were great, though.
This was a very unique and fun tour! I loved the history, wine tasting, mussel boat tour was a highlight. Our guide Noel was great! I recommend this tour company of others.
Great excursion from Santiago de Compostela. Boat trip quite an experience to see close up how shellfish produced - unlimited mussels and wine! So good to explore further afield on our short break and see the coastline
Noel was an amazing tour guide - patient and gave us great information in both Spanish and English. The portion of the tour on the boat was great - the mussels were so delicious and very plentiful. I also enjoyed the short winery tour. The other parts of the tour were less fun. The day was very rainy and windy and it was hard to enjoy the portions that were outside. Also, we were taken to a festival of some sort (not on the advertised itinerary) and just dropped off for 2 hours. There were tented areas but nowhere covered to sit down. There wasn’t much to do - we had just eaten a ton of mussels on the boat, so not many people wanted to eat anything. It was incredibly boring. This tour should have just been the wine house tour and the boat tour. That is enough. The other stops just seemed like they were trying to fill the day.
Had couple days in Santiago after completing Camino. Took finisterre/muxia tour day before. It was great. Wasn’t sure about this one - winery and mussel boat. But foodie at heart - this seemed perfect and full day. Wow! Tour did not disappoint!! 3 main points: - winery: Learned so much about how wine is produced and certified in small batches from local producers. Very controlled in standards to produce best wine. Though mainly in Spanish, tour guide took special care o of English speakers. Very personal touch. - mussel boat tour: highlight of tour!! For lunch, Didn’t expect it - party boat!!! It was amazing!! Alyce local, plump delicious mussels, white wine and other beverages. Whole boat of bus friend were singing and celebrating as we went thru trays of mussels and bottles of wine. Must, must do!! - visiting charming local towns and vistas. Tour was incredible way to end time in Spain and Camino. Highly recommend!!
This was a lovey day trip. Although, I think too much is planned for this trip. The stop to take a picture at the viewpoint could have been better spent elsewhere. All in all we had a lovely time and truly truly enjoyed our guide, Laura who did a standout job explaining everything in both English and Spanish. Her inside knowledge of how wineries run was essential.
Overall all the trip exceeded our expectations. Our host is Nuria, amazing and very knowledgeable and friendly we had an amazing time and learned a lot. Trip was very convenient and relaxed. Highlight of the trip is the boat trip with unlimited mussels and wine! the boat crew is amazing! it was a great experience totally recommend it!
We really enjoyed this tour, from the wine testing to all the stops at the beautiful towns of the Rias Baixas.. The boat trip was the highlight for us, it cannot be missed. Our tour guide, Noel, was very caring and made sure we had a great time.
Pleasant day that started with wine and mussels on a boat and ended with some more albarino wine. Our guide Noel from Galicia Travels was fun and informative.
