One of the best thing I have done in Santa Marta. I was worried about the negative reviews and yes they tend to communicate a bit last minute. But in the end, got all infos on WhatsApp the night before the trip. Got picked up at my hotel on time (at 5:45 as my hotel was a bit further away so first on borad). Then picked up people along the way but we were in the park ready to walk at around 7:30-8:00. They take care of all entrance fees and procedure. On that day we had 36 people on the tour with 3 guides (and the bus driver). As soon as we started the hike, the groups naturally splitted around the 3 guides based on the pace Guides tell you a lot about nature, fauna and flora (only one spoke English though). We arrived at Cabo beach at 11 (but lot to see on the walk). Then took a table for lunch at the restaurant and ordered. (not.included but good price and good food). You can leave all your stuff at the table, they watch your belongings and you can enjoy the beach for a good hour before they serve lunch at 12:00. Then another hour of beach after lunch and we make our way back at 2pm. As I was alone and a good hiker, I just did all the way back on my own at my own pace. Everybody was back in the bus by 4pm and I was back at my hotel.just right past 5pm. In summary, super well organized, good guides, amazing hike and the most beautiful beaches I have seen in Colombia

The hiking trip is short, this is just a small jungle with various of trees, animals etc. Most people go there not for the nature, but for the beach.
Do not book: i receieved no communication from this operator. My messages and phone callls went unanswered. Viator Support provided me with the incorrect pick-up site. The operator claims to communicated with me but provided no evidence. Viator refuses to take responsibility for incorrect information.
The hiking was easy, most of it was in the shades but you have to be in shape. The views were amazing! The guides explained everything on the way and everything was on time.
The hike was beautiful but not easy. Wear sturdy tennis shoes. Drink water. Bring cash. The beaches were beautiful. It might be worth staying the night to get a full day.
On a windy day definitely not for the faint of heart, make sure to bring a set of dry clothes for after the boat trip. The staff was very friendly and helpfull, and the boats ran nicely on time. The park itself is beautiful and definitely worth the visit.
I don't usually leave negative comments, but what happened here was unbelievable, so I feel it's important to share my experience. I booked a tour through the hostel I stayed at in Santa Marta (Viajero), along with another girl from the same hostel. We spent the day at Cabo San Juan beach, and after lunch, our tour guide (Eduardo) asked if we wanted to hike back to the entrance or ride horses. We chose for the horses, and Eduardo suggested we head to playa Piscina for the rest of the time, agreeing to meet us there at 2:30 PM to show us where the horses were. Around 2:25 PM, we arrived at the agreed location and waited in the sun until 3:00 PM. At that point, we decided to return to Cabo San Juan to check if everything was okay. When we arrived there, we asked at the restaurant, we were informed that the tour had left "ages ago." Cabo San Juan was the only place with signal, so I texted Eduardo, informing him that we would return with the horses and asking him to wait for us, but they didn't wait. It turns out our tour had passed by our meeting point way earlier before 2:30 PM, but they didn't feel like waiting for us and left without us. When we reached the entrance, I called the tour guide, who casually mentioned that they had left. I was of course irritated and I responded back to him and then he just hung up and never answered the phone again. We had to pay for a bus and a taxi back to Santa Marta, as it was getting late, and we were never compensated for anything. Additionally, the tour guide kept the change from my meal, which he was supposed to give back to me after lunch. We have never lived something like this, so irresponsible to leave two people behind because he decided to form the plan while eating and didn't remember when he suggested to us.
It was my parents first time meeting the ocean and they were amazed by everything they saw. My dad was playing like a kid in the ocean and the guides made the experience even better, because they were there for us through the whole trip! I truly recommend this agency!
I was aware that the tour would be in Spanish which is fine. I speak basic Spanish and was just interested in doing the hike and seeing the beaches, it didn’t bother me that I wouldn’t be able to understand the guide’s background on Tayrona Park. However, because I and others on the tour did not speak Spanish, the instructions about how long we had in each place, where to go, where to meet and when were terrible! Communication was poor and the tour guides did not really care about getting important information across to us and it made the tour stressful. Instead of the guides checking with us after giving instructions in Spanish as to where to meet when, we always had to go up to them and confirm details, which were still unclear. Lunch was also highly disorganised. We felt more like an annoyance as English speaking participants, than paying customers to be looked after.
Lovely rather demanding trek in the jungle, prepare with loads of deet spray and good shoes, and loads of water. Cabo San Juan is one of the most beautiful beach I’ve seen in Colombia.
It's a long walk, not for everybody but is a great experience, the nature you get to see is beautiful. Although it's worthier to spend the night at the park to get the chance to see more beaches, as this is just one day. The tour allows you to stay if you want to.
Dear Travelers, I explicitly advise you to take this tour with a different agency. Unfortunately Travesia does not accept accedited confirmations of the Colombian Government. They are responsible for the transfer of the payment to the national park. Although they had stated a discount for people who live in Colombia, they don't stick to their words. Diplomats pay the extra charge of 40 mil. Pesos, although they show their service passports and their accreditation of the Colombian government. Comments of doubts about the diplomatic mission are very disrespectful and very grave. In the group I have travelled in it happened more than once that they charged more than they had announced (not only to people in the diplomatic service). It seems to be an issue issue, at least with one of the guides, i.e. the one we have travelled with whose name was Diego. I consider this a very grave behavior. I cannot recommend the tour because from my viewpoint they did not stick to basic rules of a trustful transaction. The least that is to be solved is the issue that there has to be more knowledge of the documents that the Colombian government is leveraging as well as international Diplomatic passports I hope this improves for the sake of this beautiful country and the park in particular.
mucho ruido y pocas nueces - 'much ado about nothing'. long strenuous walk. unaccetable beaches in grey green oceanic breakers with the exception of Cabo San Juan and some others which allow for pathetic swimming. This one infested with youthful nostalgia but looks more like a cauldron which constitutes the pinnacle of a cult itinerary. You get there by horse or walking.
Good day trip from Santa Marta. Be prepared that the tour is all in Spanish. Guides are helpful, but the information about Tayrona park is only on the way on the bus. Once you get to the park, it is a long hot walk to the beach, but the Cabo San Juan beach is 100% worth it! Recommend!
We came to Santa Marta, Colombia to hike the [La Cuidad Perdía], however a mudslide shut the park down for five days and we had to find options. We decided in the Cabo San Juan, it is basically a 5.5 mile hike though a wonderful wooded/forest with plenty of stops along the way. The beaches are beautiful and the walk is taxing. Definitely ready for the beach. There are two beaches that are on the way and so you could easily decide to stay at either beach and not walk as far. The park has a lot to offer. My only advise is to have small change in pesos to buy your fruits and juices. The restaurants were nice and inexpensive. Have fun!
Terrible experience. Guide did not share with our group prior to the activity even though we asked so we went in flip flops (bad idea). The guide was never with us, she just left us behind. We had to wait for + 1 hour for some reason so she could buy the tickets. Go by yourself, don't but this tour.
You can trust the plans they offer because they deliver on what they promise
My stay was at the Cabo San Juan Viewpoint again feel the sensation of sleeping in a hammock and listening to the sound of the sea all night is priceless, beautiful place to rest, recharge, connect and / or disconnect. Of the best experiences lived lately.
Excellent experience, the guide Luis super willing to make things easier and that we can enjoy every moment. A crack!! We did the round by boat and that was another very nice experience. Highly recommended
A trip, where you have a beautiful encounter with nature and protected area, ancestral culture and valuation and care of natural resources
A unique, authentic park where you come up against the wildest nature, the sea, native people and perceive you are away from everything and everyone. A park different from the others because here, the encounter with nature gives unique and different emotions. You have to try to understand. Walk 2/3 hours to get to the middle and then immerse yourself in the beautiful waters, eat something typical and then stay overnight or return to the entrance by 5.30 pm, closing time. Highly recommended experience. Entering the park you can do it yourself. Needless to add more... you have to walk, watch and listen!
I noticed the walk to Cabo San Juan. I can say that the staff has always been available and patient in clarifying all doubts. The guides are very prepared and did not forget to give us every information you would need. I liked the care you have taken with us and our documents. During the tour we have seen monkeys, alligators and several beaches. In addition we find some indigenous peoples. There is the possibility to reserve horse, in the restaurant in Cabo San Juan the things of value were safe and we did very well. Cabo San Juan is a parasitic beach. Super recommend the ride with Living Tours.
Go there yourself via Uber and be taken to the last entrance of the park. The route is established and the ‘guides’ are only there to take you to Cabo. From there if you are tired you can take a boat for 90000 cops (which I absolutely do NOT recommend for the conditions in which they are and for the water that will come to you for the following 50 minutes). You can also go back on horseback or on foot. There was only one particularly good guide who explained everything to you in detail (Juan). If you are not with him, walk independently and enjoy this beauty on your own.
Good outing. I think they should spend more time at the beach and have the guide explain more but it is recommended and safe.
Moderate our experience in Tyrona Park. At the entrance there is chaos as you have to pass through three points for security issuing tickets and payment! The trail is neglected and the beach is not worth it and you will not see any animals in the park. Consider whether you want to allocate approximately five hours of walking for transit and return. Not recommended.
It is for people who love to walk through uneven terrain types. I do not recommend adult people it is a heavy tour, there is horse rental which are expensive, the dirty beach, it is not like in the photos. there are better beaches without so much sacrifice, you pay insurance where during the tour there is no one to help you and if it is required, they are just half doing trails, there is no signage in some you share horse path with people is terrible. It makes it easy for a person to get lost because there is no signage of the roads. I live the experience I would not repeat. Palettes that sell super delicious. You have to take a bus that charges you to save you a part of the way starting, after there are you go alone. the bathrooms in bad shape, the women's closed. without light without water.
The tour was booked via WhatsApp and everything worked out great. It was all well organized. This tour is, as described, easy transport by boat to the island.
It was a wonderful excursion!! It is very worth going to spend the day in Cabo San Juan of Tayrona Park. The beaches were beautiful and surrounded by jungle.
Unprofessional guides who endanger their customers .The walk is planned for two hours but the return is deliberately not mentioned on the platelet .In fact tourists are subjected to 4 hours of walking so for the return, tired they opt for the return by boat (85 000 pesos ) whose safety is doubtful: an hour crossing in a makeshift raft with ultra unpleasant staff motivated by the greed. The tourist is seen as a cash cow .The walk is at load step so no time to observe the fauna and flora. The small shops as well as the restaurant on site are in close contact with the guides of this agency. We were many to have problems of fatigue and dehydration during this walk but we were not taken care of by the guides too concerned to take the orders (they turned into coffee boys at the time of the meal in the restaurant) of the menus .A shame that costs the trifle of 185 pesos for two hours of walking and an hour of bus .The number of tourists on the return bus is much less than that counted on the outward because the customers opt for a return less tiring but more expensive .Agency to avoid because it does not respect in any way the safety of its customers!A shame!Prefer another agency and well inquire about the guarantees offered by this one because tourist catchers are legion .But this one is to be avoided at all Awards!
The PNN Tayrona is simply spectacular, an experience with nature and the sea, its beaches are beautiful, the water, the sand, everything is divine, in addition to the energy so cool that you feel in the splendid place, the 3hrs walk is worth it when you start to see the landscapes
Very nice place to be in contact with nature. Cabo San Juan has options to use the beach, you can buy food and drinks. It has showers and bathrooms that have a cost to use.
I recommend staying and sleeping in the park. This will allow you to enjoy this (and the other beaches), although less crowded and at the most beautiful times. to arrive : - if the sea is calm, take a launch from Santa Marta directly there (but you will get wet) - on foot (with or without a backpack) from the backpack (for as many kilometers as possible by bus), - with horses (it's done first) Nice bathrooms Beautiful landscapes
Viajé sola y la verdad es que me sentí cuidada. El equipo de guias muy profesionales, el parque está genial. ¡Con ellos es un paseo seguro!
In the park you can experience different environments ranging from the tropical jungle to desert and paradisiacal beaches. This experience is worth every second.
Everything was excellent, from the booking of the trip, the sailboat, the journey, the staff, the food, everything taken care of in detail, it was an unforgettable experience
I really liked the tour, the kindness of the entire tour team was spectacular. Unique experiences in the park and all the services of this agency. 10 super
It was our first visit to Tayrona Park and the truth is that the tour did not meet expectations. The itinerary is so tight that there was no time to see or enjoy the flora and fauna of this incredible place. It was a mountain hiking session (2 hours at a good pace) from the entry point to the incredible Cabo San Juan sector. Two hours to enjoy the place and then two hours back (again walking at a good pace) to return to the bus at the indicated time. In the future we will try to find another alternative that will allow us to enjoy this incredible place of beaches and incredible nature in time.
Tayrone The trip was excellent, but you do have to be in a decent physical level to be able to walk and climb the two hours going to San Juan and two hours returning. The scenic view was beautiful and the lunches bought were delicious. The one thing I would have liked more is for our tour guides to give us more information about the Tayrona park and the indigenous people that live there. The other thing I did not like at all is that you have to pay to use the bathroom, and for international tourists that is a big no, so I recommend that be changed for the experience be to its fullest. The walk was excellent, but one if you have to be at a decent physical level to be able to walk and climb the two hours going to San Juan and the two hours returning. The view of the landscape was beautiful and the lunches purchased were delicious. One thing that if I had liked better is that the tour guides would have given us the information about Tayrona Park and the indigenous people who inhabit it. The other thing that if I don’t like it at all is that you have to pay to use the bathroom, and that’s a big no for international tourists, then my recommendation is to change that so that the experience is as great as possible.
The place is spectacular. It's worth the effort to walk a couple of hours to get here. You have to climb to the top of the cabin, where there are chinchorros to stay and take in the view. It is also enough to rest on the beach. It is possible to stay in an uncampsite, although the tents seem to be very close to each other. There is a health care stand at the entrance and a restaurant for dining. But since it’s just a restaurant it usually fills up: you have to be patient and wait in line.
A dream place, were two spectacular days, beautiful beaches, quiet rest, good food, I have to go back. The accommodation in tent $140,000 two people (Cape San Juan). Admission to the park (depends on the day) we pay $33,000 COP for being a holiday Monday. We paid $5,000 to a van that dropped us off in the parking lot. We walked in, stopping at beaches, on the tour we saw momos, we had coffee, we ate egg arepa. Cabo San Juan is beautiful, we enjoyed its beaches and the sea until sunset, the baths are fine (not great). On site there is restaurant and bar, you can also sleep in hammock at the viewpoint, you can walk to nearby beaches, we went to the nudist. I'll definitely be back.
Excellent everything, very well organized, the beaches of Cabo San Juan are amazing, as are those of the pool. I'd do it again. Very good experience. The agency staff very attentive and helpful!!
We made the reservation a day earlier, mefia te WhatsApp, payment with a variety of methods faith payment. Very good coordination and punctuality for hotel pickup and entrance to Tayrona Park. Entry and arrival in Cabo San Juan with estimated guide and rates. Excellent Service and Amabality by the guides.
excellent tour, very good advice, the company of the guide quite pleasant and valued very much if low cost and its ease of payment
An unforgettable experience! The friendliness of all the staff, especially Keyla who was our guide throughout the tour. Despite having gone in high season (1st holiday bridge of the year) we did not have to line up to enter the park and the pickups were punctual. 100% recommended!
The place is wonderful! I paid 40,000 pesos to rent a sleeping net with mosquito and locker. It was very quiet, you just have to go prepared because during the night sale and it is cold. During the day the beach is well crowded with the people who do "beat and turn", but after 15:00 it begins to empty and only those who are in the camp are left. A unique experience, worth the walk of approx 2 hours to arrive. I indicate to everyone who likes contact with nature.
One of the paradise destinations of my beautiful Colombia, walking the trails, touring its beaches, enjoying its moments, the intensity of its blue sea and having encounters with its culture... It is ultimately the dream trip
