We stayed at the Don Pepe for 4 nights and it was an amazing experience. The staff (especially Edgar and the other 2 female waitstaff) seriously were so kind, and always went above and beyond for us!! The rooms were kept so clean, and the housekeeping was so amazing. The food and drinks are all made-to-order, and it was all so fresh and reasonably priced. We also always felt extremely safe. If you are planning to visit Santa Marta, there isn’t anywhere better than the Don Pepe!

I have stayed in many good hotels, but the service at this one was absolutely outstanding. Andrés in particular made our stay perfect. When I wasn't feeling well, he went to a pharmacy at 10 p.m. just for me to get some medicine. The next morning, several members of the team whom we hadn't met before asked if I was feeling better. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrés and the entire team once again for their excellent service!
Incredible hotel with amazing staff. Impeccably clean, beautifully furnished, regal comfort in the rooms, and a staff that won't let you lift a finger. Absolutely fantastic stay with Don Pepe! For the reason behind not being 5 star: upon check-in while waiting for our luggage to be brought to our room, we asked to step outside for a cigarette. The response was very friendly, "Absolutely! You can just step out the front to the street to smoke, just make sure you dont take out your phone, and we'll let you back in!" As gorgeous as the hotel was, it's great proximity to the beach and Parque de Los Novios, the street and surrounding blocks to the East were all very dangerous. We could not pass a single corner after leaving the front door without being approached by microtraffickers, and even being followed back to the hotel from the very street the hotel is located. I do not recommend for solo travelers, nor families traveling with children!
The best hotel I have been in South America, the rooms specactucular bringing with a 500 year old history from colonial times which is a delight in the city of Santa Marta. The staff are one of a kind and truly make you feel at home and make the most of your stay. Look forward to coming back to this gem of a hotel.
First and foremost, the place is beautiful and well located. That said, there are some caveats related to the rooms on the first floor that do require some caution: -) If you are a light sleeper, the staff preparing breakfast right outside your doors will wake you up. -) the first-floor pool is of no use since it is located between the kitchen and the reception and the moment you exit your room you will be greeted with looks of curiosity which kinda limit the relaxing factor of a pool (there is one on the second floor right next to the spa which is better) -) the same curiosity applies while you are eating breakfast where kitchen staff and reception monitor you while eating breakfast. This might be due to our stay off-season with not many guests visiting and if you love your fifteen minutes of fame it might be perfect for you - it was weird for us though.
