Reviews
Our experience with Pukarumi was unfortunately very disappointing, both during the excursion and in the way our concerns were handled afterwards. First of all, when we asked for the location to be shared so that we could be ready and meet the group, we received no reply. We found it frustrating to be given a time window of approximately 40 minutes without a more precise meeting time, especially considering the early morning hour. However, the most serious issue concerned the gluten-free breakfast. We had mentioned this requirement several times. Nevertheless, when it was time for breakfast, a different dish from the one we had expected had been prepared, and it was not suitable for celiacs, as shown in the attached image. All of this despite what we had paid anyway, considering that breakfast was regularly included in our tour. When I pointed this out to the guide, he replied with arrogance that if I had any concerns, I should contact the company directly. I also asked whether the ham or cheese were gluten-free. The guide did not know, and, from our perspective, did not make an effort to contact the company to check or to offer us an alternative. Given the lack of clear information, because of the attitude the guide had towards us, and in solidarity with my son, we preferred not to eat anything. What disappointed us most was the way the situation was handled afterwards. After expressing our dissatisfaction, we were told that the manager would come to meet us. We waited for approximately twenty minutes, but nobody showed up, and we received neither any further communication nor an apology. We therefore decided to leave. Overall, we were disappointed that the owner did not meet us personally or provide us with an explanation or apology. There was a clear lack of attention given to an important dietary requirement, as well as a lack of care in handling customer concerns. The only person who showed genuine understanding and empathy throughout the entire situation was their employee, Ciro. We truly appreciated his attitude and the way he tried to understand our concerns. This experience has certainly affected our opinion of the company and is the reason for our negative review.
Awesome time! Our guide Anita was great the place is beautiful!
We had a wonderful experience with Francisco as our guide. Everything was well communicated, organized and the guide gave a ton of information about area&sights. Would hands down recommend and book with them in the future!
Great tour absolutely stunning landscape. Great organisation, breakfast provided in a beautiful place, catering for vegans as well. Guide Franco was very good and knowledgable and was even able to deal with unexpected orthopaedic emergency. Would highly recommend the Pukarumi travel.
There was a misunderstanding by the sales representative in which they sold me tickets for a tour I could not do due to health reasons (high elevation) despite making my health situation clear. I was under the impression that it was a lower elevation due to how they spoke about it. In the end, they blamed it on me and wouldn't refund my money for the tour. It was really disappointing because I didn't discover the issue until I was on the tour and we had to turn around to drop me back off at the edge of town. It wasted an entire morning and the San Pedro town is essentially closed until midday so I had no chance to go on another tour.
This tour was lovely.. breakfast was great..the tour guide was very knowledgeable...the rainbow valley was great too
I booked 3 tours with Pukarumi Travel and I was vey happy with all of them. Our guide for this one was Ana Paula and she was fantastic, full of energy, enthusiasm and knowledge. She is passionate about the petroglyphs and was able to share that wtih the group. All the arrangements were well communicated and clear. The food was excellent.
Amazing scenery and Chris our guide was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Highly recommend if you have a morning free in San Pedro de Atacama. Great breakfast and music too.
Really beautiful place. We originally did not book it but our other tour got cancelled and we took this as an alternate option and glad we did that. Our driver Gerardo and guide Francisco made the tour really enjoyable as well. We were part of a small group that made the tour a bit more casual and intimate. Special credit to Francisco honestly. He was very well informed, kept all the discussions interactive, talked to everyone in the group and created a good synergy. All the locations were very good as well. We got to see some ancient rock paintings, had a decent breakfast and saw beautiful colours in the valley on the hike.
Our guide Nicolás was so lovely and passionate to show us the local area. We enjoyed hiking around the dry riverbed of Rio Grande and Valle del Arcoiris was truly amazing. A great guide and great breakfast also! Hot drinks, snacks and palta! (Guacamole)
Lolo the tour guide made it fantastic. Beautiful nature and nice guide of sense of humor can give all the positive energy you need from your break.
This tour company was great. Best AC and spacious van in the area. Guide’s English was easy to understand. It’s closer to a 4.5 hour trip. We were looking for something short for elderly parents. There were three short hikes that changed in elevation and were over rocks.
This is a beautiful valley with so many colorful rock formations. We had a great time walking through the valley and taking many pictures and learning about the geology. The petroglyphs were very interesting too. I gave this a 4 star rating because it was advertised as a 6 hr tour in the title of the tour but when we got on the van, the guide said it was a 4 hour tour. In the end it was about 4.5 hrs. I was grateful that Alex was able to get us the senior rate for the 2 park entrance fees which we had to pay separately in cash. On 2 others tours we had taken with Puka Rumi we were not given the senior rate for additional park fees. At times communication with the company was a bit confusing. Note: they have 2 locations in San Pedro but when you use Google maps only 1 shows up.
I joined 5 tours in Atacama through viator and 3 were under this same company Pukarumi. I was very disappointed with 2 of the tours and this is one of them. While the description says tour is in English, be prepared that they mix you with other people and 90% of the time the guide was speaking in Spanish (Or Portuguese, I couldn't tell as both aren't languages I am familiar with) and she occasionally remembered the English speakers and translated a few of her sentences into English. It made the whole experience quite bad even though the Valle del Arcoiris was beautiful. I enjoyed the scenery and like the short trekking but definitely suggest English speakers find a different agency or check the mix of the group before joining any of their tours.
Our visit to Valle Arcoiris was a highlight, with its stunning, multi-coloured mountains offering a breathtaking display of the desert’s raw and primal beauty. The fact that there should have been relatively few other tourists made the experience even more magical. Our guide, Nicolás, was very knowledgeable and friendly. As we stood before some of the Atacama desert’s ancient petroglyphs/ pictographs, Nicolás explained their significance with a palpable respect for the Likan-Antai’s culture and beliefs, which added a special layer to our appreciation of these tectonic landscapes and their tough people. His boundless energy and attentiveness made everyone in our diverse group feel seen and cared for, regardless of age or language. Gerardo, our driver for the trip, was equally kind and professional. The pick-up at dawn was timely and very well scheduled/ communicated (as were all subsequent ones we booked with this agency), and Gerardo’s safe and smooth driving between locations faultless. Even the playlist in the van subtly complemented the stunning scenery we were driving through, adding yet further enjoyment to the journey. All in all, a highly recommended morning trip.
Views were stunning, petroglyphs fascinating. Christobal was very knowledgeable and terrific. This trip was a highlight for me. Would recommend to anyone.
My wife and I went on this tour to experience more of the cultural and historical parts of the region and loved everything about this trip. It was a half day, which fit very well with the heavier excursions that exist around the area, and provided beautiful views and food along the way. Cristobal was very polite and knowledgeable of the area which made this perfect!
This excellent tour, brought to life by the very enthusiastic guide, Gulia (English and Spanish), presents the stunning Valle de Arcoiris (Rainbow Valley) with the perfect amount of explanation. The breakfast, which just about every tour offers, was freshly cooked, well laid out and organised (eggs, avocado, ham, cheese with bread, hot drinks, fruit and cake). The petroglyphs, which almost every Rainbow valley tour visits, were presented with interesting information and commentary on the main images. Overall, an amazing tour, wandering through the colourful landscape and seeing some of the unique history of the area. Highly recommended, with operator Puka Rumi.
This was an amazing tour, the landscape, mountains unlike anything we have seen in Australia. The colours of red, purple, green and white from the different minerals were staggering. Our tour guide LoLo, was so knowledgeable, keen to share her love of this place and was so bright, excited and honestly genuine in the love of the culture. This is a tour I would not miss, so good and this tour guide company were exceptional
Our tour guide, Daniel, made this experience more fun! He provided a lot information, insight, and humor! He is also a great photographer:-)
Besides the impressive scenery, guide Tino takes us on a journey through time with a lot of emotion, telling his own stories and experiences!
We took this excursion with the guide Misrrai, a super kind and thoughtful guy for the entire experience. The trip was comfortable thanks to Clodo. We recommend this tour and the agency because it was a wonderful experience.
The Misrrai guide was incredible, super attentive and with good explanations
Recommended company, trustworthy, good organization, attentive to details. We thank Francisco, our guide, and Globe, our driver, for making it an unforgettable experience.
The walk is beautiful! The colors of the mountains make a unique scenery. The guide Brandow gave a show about geology, explaining it in a didactic way, without making the tour tiring. The breakfast was also delicious, everything thought out to make the trip extraordinary.
I loved the tour and the guide Brandon was excellent! Extremely attentive and passed on all the information in a light and relaxed way.
Great trip. Francisca's guide was a 10, as was the driver Júlio. They prepared a great breakfast! Francisca's explanations enriched the tour. Beautiful place.
A spectacular place. What undoubtedly made it a 10/10 experience was our guide Brandon: professional, passionate about what he does, and with a positive energy that was contagious from first thing in the morning. We loved his explanations. The breakfast was like a feast from the gods, lots of food and everything very delicious. The place is simply incredible and of course it is worth seeing. The road there already gives you an idea of the vastness of the desert and its very particular beauty. It is magical. The agency, for its part, very professional and excellent pickup at the hotels. We recommend it 100%
Very pleasant walk with an unparalleled landscape. Good snacks with a gluten-free option.
The visit to Herbas Buenas and Rainbow Valley with the guide George was incredible. Besides having deep knowledge of the history and geography of Atacama, he is a true passionate about what he does. For me, this makes all the difference in the immersion and connection experience with the place. I learned a lot from George, a very good and very, fun and kind guide. The snack was very good too. I just didn't give 5 stars because I thought the car could be cleaner.
The trip was simply incredible! It is a valley that is very worth knowing. Both the guide Felipe and the driver Max were essential to make the experience even better!!
Wonderful experience..Care and attention from the guide Christopher during all the days of the tourist expedition. Exceptional breakfast served in nature with great care. Driver Jordan is very polite and helpful. I highly recommend
Too expensive for the experience we received. I paid over 100 USD and it wasn't worth it. It would have been better to rent a car and visit both sites on our own. I do not recommend this tour with Pukarumi or booking through Viator, since they charge a huge commission.
It was very beautiful. Anita and Patricio were quite kind. I recommend the experience
Extremely impressive and very beautiful, the guides Anita and Patricio made the overall experience very good.
Unforgivable tour with super attentive guides and delicious mancha coffee
Very cheerful, helpful, and smart.
Francisca is an excellent guide! With extensive knowledge of the place that she shared with all of us, very patient and always willing to help with the photos when we needed it. I felt very comfortable despite being the only Chilean in the group. Thanks for the little details and for offering a delicious breakfast! Thanks also for the very safe transfer service. Thanks Pukarumi! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wonderful experience! The agency is top. Everything is very well organized. I recommend!
Highly recommended tour, beautiful landscapes and they provided us with a delicious breakfast. Excellent guide and driver (Francisco and Gerardo).
Excellent tour to see this part of the Atacama desert that has so many geological variations in one place. The breakfast eh great, the walk eh very quiet, it was a wonderful day. I recommend!
Excellent tour! Anita excellent guide 👍👍👍
