Must visit when visiting San Pedro. Pick up and drop off process was easy. Got to see all the highlights and photo spots in the valley of the moon. Tour was very organized. Alexander was very knowledgeable and a joy to be part of the group. Highly recommend for all that visit San Pedro!

Ernie was an amazing guide. The tour was very chill and we got to see an absolutely amazing sunset at the end. There is around 1.5h of hiking so don’t sign up if you don’t want to hike that long haha
Very entertaining Tour. The Guide Manuel was super!
Amazing place, amazing guide. Was a little rushed but overall great trip. Did not know earlier that tickets to enter the park were not included. We were scrambling on our flight to book them with numerous error messages. Finally the travel agency said they had tickets to sell. It should have been included in the price in the first place. So a little bit of false advertising there. directions to get tickets were not clear. Ands the website that sells them really has some work to do to create a seamless experience
Great tour, really enjoyed it
Moon tour was incredible, a big gracias to the warmth of the guide Alex and all stories and precious information he shared with us in such an interesting way and passion! Graciassss
A great experience overall. Marta was very nice and gave us great insight and a lot of information regarding the Valle de la Luna. Orlando, the driver, was also extremely helpful in many aspects of the tour. A fruitful experience on a unique location.
The Valley of the Moon tour with Whipala was great! The guide was engaging and funny. However, Viator said it was at 4pm, sent tickets that said 4 pm, but we just happened to go to the tour guide office the day before to ask about another tour and incidentally learned the tour was really at 2:30!!! They had the summer time listed for the winter tour!
I did the Valle de la Luna tour,, which was excellent. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a humorous delivery which made the trip fun. Tip: the sand can make gett No to,the top of the d7ne a trek. Try to walk on any hard bits you can find. It’s worth it when you get to the top.
Really great tour. Well organised and ticked all the key sites off in an afternoon. Highlight was watching the Andes change colours whilst the sunset - stunning!
Everything was organized perfectly by the company, from pickup to drop off. Our guide Javier was incredible and friendly and answered every question we had. We learned so much and he made every minute of the tour a true, incredible joy. I cannot speak highly enough of Javi. He turned a tour of incredible sights into a lifelong memorable experience. I highly recommend booking a tour with this company if you plan to visit San Pedro de Atacama. Ask for Javi if you can!
The tour itself was quite fun! We left around 3PM and returned around 7PM. The views, especially during sunset, were stunning. Our guide, Ernie, was energetic and patient and managed travelers with all kinds of different hiking experiences. We went through Mirador 1, then past through Mirador 2. It was truly a blast. The only complaint I have about the agency itself has to do with my car and parking. We arrived promptly at 2:50PM and I asked the man in charge of attendance where I should park. He told me to park on the street. When I walked back he told me to park in a totally different spot, so we had to walk back and move the car. When I was moving the car the second time I got a call saying that I had to park in a parking garage from a totally different person. I also received many passive aggressive texts asking me to hurry up and rushing me. While I totally get tours have to run on time, this seemed to be a bit much. It made me a lot more stressed even though the guides and agency knew I was parking. It didn’t ruin my experience of the tour at all, but just meant we got off to a bad start.
Guide was great and instructions were clear and well communicated. However, the timing of the tour was not well aligned with the sunset. We were asked to leave just before the best part, missing the peak colors that typically occur during and after sunset (alpenglow). The experience felt rushed and somewhat incomplete as a result.
I was mostly interested in seeing the sunset over Valle de la Luna, but the tour through the valley was really great, especially the hike through the Great Dune
We had a fantastic afternoon trip with Javier whose knowledge and excitement to share it was exceptional. It's an incredible landscape with so much to see and to learn. Javier imparted as much as he could on the trip (which was all in fluent English) from geography, astronomy and more. The afternoon/early evening was finished off by watching the sunset over the valley which was just magical. We couldn't have asked for any more!
Absolutely stunning, probably one of the most unforgettable views in the Atacama region. Alex was a very knowledgeable and experienced guide, with an excellent command of English.
We loved the amazing landscape Alex the guide was smart and attentive with geological knowledge! Well organized tour
We had fantastic tour to moon valley. The guide Marta explained about the history and geology of the stunning landscape and went beyond to ensure that we had the best experience by avoiding the many other groups. She also helped me personally when we were walking to a stunning high viewpoint. Highly recommend.
We booked last minute and was glad we did. We had Lorena as our guide and boy, she was energetic, passionate and very informative. She toggled between Spanish and English and we felt that all the information she was giving us was not at all lacking. She really wanted us to get the most of our exploration. This tour is a must, inspite of the weather turning on us toward the end, she still pushed on to find us a viewpoint where the cool drizzle got our group even more excited. Highly recommend it.
Amazing tour. Far exceeded my expectations. We started early, because of a forecast storm, so we missed the sunset. But so worth going. Our guide, Lorena, was fantastic. Just the right amount of information, lots of energy, lots of humour. Recommended.
A good tour with informative guide. It’s a must see experience. The walking is quite difficult as it’s uphill on sand in heat. The wait for sunset is quite long. Timings could be better
It was a good tour and not to be missed. Be ready for the altitude sickness and the walk that comes with it. I was not prepared so I was short of breath and was almost ready to collapse. My fault not the tour's. Be sure to take altitude sickness tablet before doing this tour. Our guides were really good. Sorry I can only remember Paloma, the assistant tour guide's name.
Amazing tour and the guide was super friendly and helpful! Would definitely recommend this trip to anyone who travels alone or in a group.
Moon Valley is absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunset and we truly enjoyed the scenery as a family. Unfortunately, the tour itself didn’t meet expectations due to our experience with the guide. He came across as strict and intrusive about small things and reacted visibly annoyed when we politely declined a family photo. After that, he largely ignored us for the rest of the tour. At one stop he began his explanation while my parents were still walking over, and during the sunset moment he intentionally left us out, which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. It was a shame, because the location deserves a great experience. The valley is definitely worth visiting, but in our opinion the guiding should be friendlier, more patient, and more inclusive toward the whole group.
Super sceneric tour and it takes only couple of hours. Definitely worth going for this tour. Maybe check locally if it's not cheaper than via this page.
The tour is 3-4 hours long. It fit easy into my itinerary. I got to learned about astronomy. The night sky was extremely pretty with all the shiny stars I could see there. It was a good experience. Make sure to bring warm clothes. It's cold at night.
Unforgettable trip. Spectacular view of the sand dune and the valley. Sunset was amazing. Every stop during the trip was amazing. The guide, Alexander, was nice, experienced, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Whipala Expedition, the tour company that organized this trip. They provided clear instructions before the trip and communicated with me timely. I even added more trips with them during my stay in San Pedro de Atacama. Their staff were professional and respectful. I enjoyed all the trips very much.
Very nice tour, one 40 min trek was to much for me but the rest was fine and well worth going. Driver and guide excellent
Unique landscape. It was a nice tour with Ernesto providing a lot of information on the history of the Valle de la Luna. Tip: For the sunset, don't just focus on the sun. The shadow growing on the mountains opposite to the sun and it's color is also amazing to capture.
Tour started 50 minutes late. The Moon Valley Tour consisted of 30 minutes at the Dune viewpoint, 10 minutes at the 3 Marías and 30 minutes at the sunset point. Time was not taken to fully enjoy the Moon Valley. We almost spent as much time at a grocery store before sunset than at the view points. I do not recommend this tour.
We had a great time, saw so much beauty! The tour was very well organized! We definitely highly recommend!
We had 4 different tours with the company. All of the drivers/guides were knowledgeable. The guides of the early morning tours (Daniel and Javier?) prepared good breakfast for us. And the views of Atacama were absolutely breathtaking.
Interesting tour but very crowded with many tours visiting at the same time which diluted the atmosphere of the stunning scenery. Tour was well organised on WhatApp, admission fee taken care of and the snacks and Pisco sour whilst watching the sunset appreciated.
We had a good time and good experience with our guide! Well prepared, he drove us into the geologi al wonders of the Moon Valley!
It was a good trip with a very nice guide who shared a lot of knowledge. The landscape was stunning and I would totally recommend this trip.
Very enjoyable tour of a beautiful part of the world. The Vale de la Luna has stunning views and the guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Requires some walking on soft-ish sand, though if you stick to the side the guide recommends this is largely mitigated. Would recommend this trip to anyone visiting San Pedro, especially if looking for an English language tour
Good tour. Our guide was really knowledgeable. The views were breathtaking. There was a hike to the dune and then they took us to a hill where we could see see the sunset. Overall pretty good experience.
The guide was entertaining and he gave good information. The tour could have benefited if guide had played music during the slow drives (specially if it was Andean music). The thing that bothered me was that the sunset stop was rushed. The tour is sold as 4hrs but we were back after 3.10h which makes the sunset stop even more annoying. That was for me a highlight of the tour and I had to keep an eye on the time instead of fully enjoying the amazing views to be back on time.
A wonderful tour! Atacama desert is truly unique and different from other deserts we've visited in the past. The guide spoke great English and answered all the questions we had. We also walked through some parts of it and enjoyed the sunset at the end of the tour.
This tour was well timed. We were able to explore the sand dunes in the desert and learnt about some of the rock formations and geological history. We experienced the sunset out in the Atacama Desert and then still made it back to San Pedro in time to have dinner and still head back out for another nighttime tour. I was worried that the altitude would have affected us but all in our group felt fine.
Short tour for few hours, little hiking involved but not strenuous at all. Great views. The pickup location was centrally located.
Great tour with an amazing tour guide. He had so much knowledge about this area and you could see how much he likes his job. There were people from all age groups and all the little walks we did were managable for everyone. Would 100 % recommend.
A great tour of Valle de la Luna. Felipe was very knowledgeable and took us on a route that showed us some of the best views. Other groups we saw were taken a different way, missing out on some of the best sites . We went on a day that was forecast to rain later so the itinerary was brought forward by a couple of hours. The company communicated this to everyone so nobody missed out. The tour itself is stunning and not to be missed!
Well coordinated. Pick up was smooth and our guide, Daniel, was very knowledgeable and funny. Driving was smooth and safe as well.
The park involved two walks uphill through sand each about 30 minutes; I did only one which I found tough in my mid-60’s. They are not mentioned online when booking or at any time before the park. But sunset viewing is outside of the park (seems to close at 7pm) along the road I think to Calama…without any uphill hike,.. now those were the amazing views. It’s super hot in the day. I think doing Salar de Uyuni might have taken the gloss off the Valle as I’d skip the park and get to the sunset only if I were someone with a wonky knee or didn’t need the strenuous uphill hike or dust dose in the arvo breeze. For young or fitter persons, the park might be nice early morning at own speed without the crowds. All that said, our guide, Ernie, was beaut! Multilingual. Smile pasted across his face even when a grimace might be hidden in dealing with situations where participants walk on stones outside of the paths instead of the stones inside of the path and find themselves (and don’t forget poor Ernie) falling foul of the ever vigilant path police.
An amazing location to visit, the experience is greatly enhanced by the entertaining guide Daniel. He kept us informed and amused throughout the tour.
This activity was so worthwhile- unique views and excellent explanation (Guide was Rafael). It was at a good time of day
Felipe was and I’m sure he will continue to be a great and knowledgeable guide. He provided so much information about this magical place. Felipe made our tour fun and pleasant, so much so, that we booked another tour the next day.
We had a wonderful tour visiting the sights in Valley of the Moon and felt like we had plenty of time to experience it. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable.
Javier was informative, and also mindful that certain areas are super hot. Kept it moving. Sunset was beautiful!
