Really interesting tour in terms of understanding the geology of the area and some amazing views. Our tour guide Brendan was excellent

Itinerary
Walk to the beginning of the trail where you can visit the 7 lagoons. Surprise yourself with the crystal clear waters of the lagoons and ask yourself how such a thing is possible in the middle of nowhere. Since March 3, 2025, you can swim in one of the lagoons.
As part of the route to the Baltinache lagoons, we pass through the Llano de la Paciencia where we have the Cordillera de Sal on one side and the Cordillera de Domeyko on the other. That road takes about 1 hour to go and then another hour to return.

I had a great time on the Baltinache tour, our guide Malu was great and really looked after us. She was especially impressive as she did the tour in Portuguese and English and made sure to include the whole group at all times, she was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had. Our driver was great and the photographer Leo managed to get some great shots from our trip. Our picnic was also a lovely way to finish the tour.
Good trip , with excellent Guide and driver. It’s an easy walk around the various lagoons. One of the lagoons for floating in is closed and the other will close end of September 2026 as they need to recover from the pollution we humans deposit when floating. Dressing gowns were provided after floating. A good selection of snacks were enjoyed at the lagoon before returning to the showers and changing area close by.
A perfect tour! The guide was great! The location is amazingly beautiful! Good breakfast also.
Andres was my guide for this tour and he provided an amazing experience!! He was very friendly and informative. As someone that struggles with understanding Spanish his attentiveness during the entire tour was wonderful. He even got some lively pictures of me floating in the lagoon which was really appreciated. If you are the fence about this tour I say go for it and book it today.
This was my second tour with this agency, and once again everything was excellent. The organization was great, the food was delicious, and I really appreciated the small details, like the bathrobes provided after swimming during the lagoons tour.
The guide used a WhatsApp chat to coordinate where they were when picking us up which made things easy. The guide was very informative and one thing you will notice from this tour company is they avoid the crowds by going in the opposite direction of them making our experience more enjoyable. The walk around the lagoons was incredible and we learned a lot then we made our way to the swimming lagoon and our guide was more than happy to take all the photos you need. Was amazing floating in the cold water and seeing nothing but desert and mountains. They had a nice spread of food for us when we got out and robes to keep us warm. Highly recommend.
This was our first tour and couldn’t be more excited, everything went well and Francisca did an amazing job. Thanks!
Would highly recommend this tour and agency. Lagoons and landscape stunning, was very quiet, only our group swimming.
We had an outstanding experience on this tour to Lagunas de Baltinache Everything was exceptionally well organized, with perfect punctuality from start to finish. The team was professional, attentive, and always willing to help, making us feel safe and well taken care of throughout the entire experience. A special mention to our guide, Joao and the driver Clo!, who truly went above and beyond to make the experience memorable. We booked all our tours through Nomades Chile, and the coordination between Nomades and their local partners was flawless. The level of service, attention to detail, care for the guests, and overall professionalism exceeded our expectations. Every part of the experience felt smooth, well planned, and customer focused. Highly recommended to anyone visiting San Pedro de Atacama. We would not hesitate to book again. Hugo and Larissa
Amazing tour, kind and knowledgeable guide that helped us having a great experience and memorable pictures !
Andre was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and an overall excellent experience
Another incredible tour by Pukarumi. The guide was fantastic and was very knowledgeable of the region. Thisntoue company is five stars all the way. It was the third time in theee days and they were all excellent .
Had an excellent afternoon with the best guide Francisco I’ve come across in Chile! The lagoons are absolutely stunning and Francisco the nature lover has kindly shared a lot about the lagoons with us, as well as the nature and culture in Atacama. Learnt a lot and the whole immersive experience in the nature is just so great.
The tour was great we had a lot of fun floating in the salt water really special experience. Also the guides Francisco and Pato were very informative and did it in an interesting and funny way. After the trip they really helped us to book a bus to Calama at the moment I asked. I absolutely recommend asking specifically for them.
One of the manager from PUKARUMI set up a group on WhatsApp, providing all the necessary information. We were lucky to have Brandon to be our guide that morning. He arranged the route of pickup on the previous night and told everyone his location while pickup was on the way. He knows a lot, spoke good English and took good care of all the members. Besides, Besides, the tour includes breakfast which was quite enough and delicious too.
Good: the lagoons are beautiful, floating in the salt lagoon was really cool - it’s impossible to sink. We had 20 mins (this is the allotted time and it is more than enough) to float, then went on a walk past the other lagoons which was lovely. The landscape is stunning. We floated at 11am so the sun was out and the lagoon was refreshing temp, not too cold! Our guide, Brandon, was great - keen guide who was friendly and had lots of interesting information about the lagoons. Good and safe driver. Could be better: our pick up and drop off times were pushed back because the lagoon was opening late, which was fine. Except that this meant that breakfast was cancelled and we were handed a paper bag with a wrap, fruit, juice box and muesli bar in it when we got on board. Firstly this was super disappointing because the breakfasts we had on other tours with Pukarumi had been delicious, so this really paled in comparison after booking with the expectation of breakfast. Also, they forgot to cater for the three vegetarians on the tour. And there was nothing the guide could do about it, so they just didn’t get a meal… We went in to the tour office afterwards when we got back to town and all they could do was apologise, and listened to our feedback. The rest of our tours with Pukarumi were excellent, and this was a small thing in an unusual circumstance, so I would still book all these tours with them again.
A wonderful full day tour! Lovely and breathtaking scenery! Great tour guide! Delish breakfast as well. Please GO!!! Once you see the red rocks and the water...you will understand!
The tour was well organized, fun, informative, and efficient. We had a great start to the day by having a breakfast with a view. Once we arrived to the lagoons, spent a brief 20 minutes to swim in the first one which is the only lagoon where you can swim. The water was freezing cold, but with a beautiful turquoise color. Our guide Andres and driver Aldo were great. Andres was communicative in both English & Spanish, friendly and patient with everyone, and took as many pictures/videos as requested. 2 of the 7 lagoons were decent size, the rest fairly small/underwhelming. I would recommended this tour if you have a half day to spare in San Pedro and haven't seen anything like it before.
I was with Anita and all was good, the breakfast, the tour and she is such a good photographer. She is also very funny. I do recommend her if you go there. See you next time!
An enjoyable and unusual experience. George is an very good guide who gives a very clear explanation of what the tour involves and is equally clear about the dos and don'ts of bathing at Baltinache (very important to protect the environment). The pools themselves are individually very beautiful - gorgeous colours in an unusual setting. The bathing was fun, once you get over the initial shock of the cold water. Good breakfast on the way there too.
Great experience. Loved our Baltinache trip. Excellent hospitality!!
I took the Baltinache Lagoons trip. It is a fascinating area, and great to swim in a salt lagoon. The guide, Anita, was kind and funny and wonderful!
I did two tours in a quick 12h taste of San Pedro Atacama. This was the better of the two tours! Not only did they wait for me as I had many flight delays, they communicated via WhatsApp very well. George was fantastic and made the trip feel less commercial. He spoke both Spanish and English and was very personable. Our driver Claude prevented a bigger issue by catching a problem with the van early versus later and being further away from help. We were switched to another pretty quickly. I actually enjoyed the delay as it gave me time to play with my drone (as you can’t while inside the park sadly). The lake (that you can swim in) was sadly smaller than I imagined but overall still a great experience from the staff to the floating and overall experience of a salt desert.
We did a tour with my wife on Jan 2026. Overall organisation was great, we were picked up from the hotel, the guide was professional, explained many things about the area. Breakfast was also good, enough food, also with coffee. Pretty much all as advertised, can only recommend
Underwhelming experience. "Lagoons" are essentially in singular, and "trail/tracking" can be one in flip flops. Enough said. Also, way too many people per square meter of water. This being said, the water itself is beneficial for the skin, similar to that in the Dead Sea. For that, it's worth still going. Also, if you have a car, there is no reason to book a tour. We got fooled into booking a tour as the road was apparently bad, but this was not the case. Regular vehicle can easily make it there. Our guide was also very arrogant, and that didn't help our case.
Francisco was amazing, he is incerdibly knowledgeable and gave us so much information, he also helped with recommendations during our stay. I cannot say enough great things about this memorable experience. The driver was awesome too!
What a wonderful experience learning about the salt flats as well being able to float in one! Andres and Claudio were incredible guide/drivers.
Francisco was the best guide I've had during my stay in Chile. Informative and entertaining. Speaks great English so that was very comforting since my Spanish is terrible. The snack at the end was amazing. He made sure my son was comfortable since he was a little exhausted from our earlier trip to the hot springs. The drive was comfortable and quick. The soak in the salt lagoon was cooling and fun. Perfect way to end our activities for the day.
Tour was nice. But You’re essentially paying 120 USD plus an entrance fee to be driven to the lagoon and have 20 min to swim. The lagoon is lovely but you don’t need the tour.
Tour was great. We had a nice group leaving early, what gave us the entire spot for nice pictures. Nicolas was a nice guide, explaining us about the formations and the area. It’s a worthwhile tour, mainly for the first day.
Excellent guide, very friendly and good knowledge. The trip was well organised and good value. We would recommend this tour.
The lagoons themselves weren’t as impressive as we thought, they were quite small and more like little pools. But the tour was organised very well. Our guide Alberto was great. The experience swimming in the seventh lagoon was the real highlight! Wished we had more time swimming in there. Breakfast included was delicious!
Our guide and driver were great. Very enthusiastic and made a great breakfast. Gave us time to hang out at water and chose a good spot with vies for breakfast. The only thing I would change is to be a little more descriptive of how the tour works. So we got into our bathing suits and then walked a little bit to the lagoon where we floated and then walked a little bit more to see another little tiny lagoon, and then took showers and got back in the van. So I would’ve liked to know him that we were going to walk somewhere else after we soaked in the saltwater. I would’ve brought a bigger towel and not put sunscreen on after exiting the lagoon (because you can’t have sunscreen and go in the lagoon. Overall, excellent trip and excellent driver and guide. Would definitely recommend them.
Loved this excursion. The Lagoons were stunning, and the swim was refreshing! Our guide Andres and the driver were awesome. Excellent breakfast and organization during the trek to the lagoons. I highly recommend going in the morning. It is not as hot and the water is cooler. Thanks team!
We did the tour with Franco who was a great guide, and spoke excellent English and explained some of the history of the area. We stopped at a lookout for breakfast then went to the Baltinache lagoons in the morning. it was great to be able to float and see the surrounding mountains. Weather was perfect, the area was an easy walk and we were well looked after
Clody and Chico were amazing guides on this tour. Amazing day for me and my wife. Walking through de salt deserts and getting into the cold salty water that gets you floating!
We had an amazing experience of swimming in the lagoon at 10°C water. Franco was an amazing guide and he encouraged us to go in and we did and will never forget this. This is once in a lifetime experience. the lagoons have a backdrop of Andy’s mountains This company’s picnics are always amazing with good food with local delicacies and drinks Franco and Andrea, his driver were very friendly, took pictures and answered all the questions we asked them. They were very knowledgeable and interested in other cultures.
Our Baltinache Lagoon tour with Francisca was absolutely incredible! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience unforgettable. Floating in the crystal-clear salty lagoons felt magical, and Francisca went above and beyond to share the history, science, and local insights in such an engaging way. Everything was well organized, fun, and relaxed — we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Highly recommend this tour with her!
We had a great time with Chris and team. Nice experience and everything was very organized. Thanks again and very well executed!
The tour with Clogualdo and Francisco was great. They were super welcoming, provided knowledgeable information about the landscape, and were a great time overall. I recommend this tour for both families and individuals alike. I really enjoyed my time.
Was a great tour, Nicolas was very passionate and enthusiastic about the nature of the lagoons. Drive was short and comfortable and the lagoons were of course stunning and worth the visit if you have time. Luckily it’s a half day trip so you can get back to town around midday Thank again to all the team!
View were great, got to swim in the lagoon. Tour guide was knowledgeable and went out of the way to keep us comfortable. They also made sure we were the first ones at the lagoon which made the experience special
Great team!!! Francisco & David were very helpful with all of us. And make the tour more fun. Very nice experience, I recommend it.
Duncan was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and friendly! The landscape is incredible and everything went without a hitch!
Fantastic tour with one of the best guides Francisco!!!! We had such a very good time there, let alone 20 minutes bathing in one of the lagoons despite the cold water and chilly weather! Francisco provided us with all the information during the tour and made it absolutely perfect and even special ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Loved the tour!! Clogualdo and Francisco were such amazing instructors. Had a very good time, from an amazing breakfast to going inside the freezing water. Really recommend it!!
Cologualdo and Francisco made the tour go perfectly and smoothly. Bilingual Spanish and English (and Portuguese too), with excellent fun for all involved. 100% would use again for future tours.
Loved the tour! It’s a pretty straightforward tour of breakfast, baltinache and back. Loved the walk, landscape and time in the lagoon. I’ve never been in water that makes you float so easily! I recommend walking barefoot for the walk to the lagoon; you feel really connected to the earth. Much of the walk becomes a boardwalk though which is also fine barefoot. If you have long hair, remember a hair tie because you are meant to keep your hair up.
Amazing tour, knowledgeable, funny and considerate guide, very unique and exciting experience, great spread of snacks! The only issues was the van ran out of gas on the side of the road. This should have been avoidable by stocking up beforehand or carrying a spare container of gas. However, our guide was incredibly kind in accommodating the fact that we had another tour right after, and dropped us off at the other tour’s meeting site to ensure we would not be late.
