One of my favour tours in Atacama, Alex our guide was fantastic. Supper friendly and approachable and very knowledgeable. Loved all his facts. Loved all the stops and the charcuterie with pisco sours watching the sunset was lovely. The best spread we had with competitors. The showers facilities were much better than at other salt lagunas.

Itinerary
It is the largest saline deposit in Chile and is formed by a depression with no water outlet that receives the San Pedro River and multiple ravines through which water filters from the mountain range.
Laguna Cejar is beautiful and mystical of turquoise color. Its high salt content generates the floating effect, which makes a relaxing bath and a fun experience. Next, we will visit Ojos de Salar, formed by two pools of water from underground layers where small reeds and algae grow on their shores. Finally, in Laguna Tebenquiche we will enjoy the great whiteness of Salt.

We will enjoy the great whiteness of salt. We will enjoy an appetizer and contemplate the Cordillera... definitely an unforgettable show!

I fell the day before the tour and sprained my ankle badly enough that I couldn't walk. I explained this to the tour operator and asked if I could postpone my reservation by a few days and they refused because supposedly they had already purchased my entrance ticket to the lagoon. I could've just paid a second entrance fee and not lost the money I paid for a tour I couldn't take but they would not allow this as an option which was purely based on profit for them. They messaged me the day of the tour asking if I was coming and said they'd be willing to pick me up at my hotel (usually you have to meet at their office), and I declined again explaining I CANNOT WALK! I had another tour to the geysers booked for the same day with a different operator and they were kind enough to reschedule me at no cost. I'll book the lagoon tour again but with them. I would not use this company for anything.
Great for a half day trip. Spectacular views of the volcanos and salt flats. The bathing in the Laguna Sejar was a great experience. Photo opportunities with the salt lakes, lagoons with a backdrop of the Andes - volcanos. The guide Ricio was so knowledgeable in all aspects of flora and fauna and driver Morisio? laid up a table of cocktails and snacks. Much appreciated and would recommend for a half day trip
We had a fun afternoon particularly at the Cejar lagoon. The eyes of the desert were a little underwhelming but the salt lake/pan was very interesting. The afternoon was topped off with the excellent ‘snack’ (so much more than a snack) and the fun and engaging tour guide Alexander. (I think!). The organisation was also excellent right from booking which is more than can be said for other organisations in San Pedro.
A nice way to spend the afternoon while in San Pedro. The water was nice as well as the picnic that we had later at Los Ojos. Thanks
A nice, relaxed tour that allows you to see beautiful sights and experience floating in a lagoon. An afternoon well spent. Also, great guides.
The tour was fun. I liked that it was only a half day so we still had free time during the day to explore the town. You start out with swimming in Laguna Cejar, which is a fun experience. You float so easily and the water is refreshing. The only downside to this part of the tour is that the workers at the laguna rushed us a bit, which made everyone kinda stressed, trying to get out of the water and rinse off quickly. We then stopped 2 more times to see other lagunas that you could not swim in. We were also given some snacks and juice or pisco sour. The tour guide gave us information about the lagunas as well. Just make sure to wear sunscreen after swimming because the UV is no joke.
The guide was excellent and conducted the tour fully bilingual. Overall was a very leisurely pace. The first two stops were nothing special and honestly would’ve preferred to skip them. We had a wonderful snack break and then headed to the Cejar Lagoon - so cool! The company also provided robes for when you get out of the salty water. Floating in the lagoon was almost magical — too bad the body can’t handle staying in for more than 30 minutes! Great value, especially relative to renting a car and doing on your own. The tour company was excellent and communicated well on Whatsapp and in their office in town prior to the tour.
The trip was so fun. Everyone on this trip was happy about it. Swimming in Laguna Cejar was an amazing experience. Watching beautiful flamingos made you feel you were a part of nature. The guide, Alex, was nice, experienced, and knowledgeable. The snacks and drinks were a great plus. I highly recommend Whipala Expedition, the tour company that organized this trip. They had a clear instruction for the trip and communicated with me timely. I even added more trips with them during my stay in San Pedro de Atacama. Their staff were professional and respectful. I enjoyed all the trips very much.
Our group had an amazing time on our tour. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. There was a delicious food spread at our stop and the highlight of the trip was swimming in the Lagoon Céjar. We saw flamingos and had a nearly empty lagoon to swim in for 30 minutes. The tour even provided bath robes to use after the swim.
The trip was nice. It was super windy the day we visited, so we did not really get to see the most beautiful parts of the lagoons, but the guide planned it well so we still had fun.
Overall, it was a good tour with amazing views and a really friendly guide who spoke English and Spanish and shared lots of interesting facts along the way. The only minus was the time spent at the lagoon – 20 minutes just isn’t enough, especially considering the price. It felt rushed, and there wasn’t enough time to both take photos and go for a swim. 20 min in water if fine but then it would be nice to have time to take photos so around 1 hour in total in the area would’ve made a big difference. The sunset snack at the end was a nice touch and a great way to wrap up the day.
Great outing not too far from San Pedro de Atacama. Water was refreshing. Couldn't believe how we floated so easily. Great afternoon tea after. Recommend this tour.
We really enjoyed our experience of floating without any effort in a lagoon in the Atacama desert: it was very unique! The park had installations to take a shower to rince ourselves afterwards, restrooms and changing rooms, which was very convenient. With the exception of the lagoon we were floating in, we could not really go near the other lagoons; they were a bit far and we could barely see them in the photos we have taken. Our guide Rafael was great: he was really kind with us, ensured we were drinking water and putting on sunscreen and told us relevant information about the lagoons and the desert.
Tour was organized and on time. Javier is gives good history and descriptions. Pickup time was 2:20 and we were returned by 5:45. It doesn't go for 5 hours (which is good, I'm not sure what we would've done). We did Laguna Cejar, then Laguna Tebinquiche. Ojos de Salar is on the way to Tebinquiche and is a 5 min stop. Salar de Atacama is the entire area, not really its own stop. Pisco sour + snacks at Tebinquiche were elaborate. Only thing that could've been better explained is the swimming situation at Laguna Cejar and what we need to bring. There are very clean public showers and changing rooms! They are a short walk from the Laguna. That walk is rocky / gravelly. Would recommend bringing flipflops so you can walk from the Lagoon to the showers without needing to put hiking boots/shoes back on. The showers are required so you can get the minerals/salts off but are also very short, you are allowed 1-2 mins max just to rinse off. Don't bring shampoo/bodywash, but you can change back into regular clothes in the private changing rooms so you don't need to keep your swimsuit on under your clothes after you swim.
An experience like no other - even if you have been to the Dead Sea. Beautiful scenery, a few other stops on the way and an incredibly insightful guide to answer all of your questions. I rearranged all of my other tours to do this and even passed on another to do this - 100% worth it
A great excursion. It was great to go in Laguna Cejar, but also nice seeing the salt flats around ojos del salar and learning about the different organisms. A good sized group and the snack was obviously great. I definitely enjoyed this Laguna over the other one I did on this trip.
My family and I had a great time in this tour. The tour included visiting the Laguna Cejar, in which we were able to swim in, as well as Laguna Tebenquiche which was an amazing sight. Finally, we had a sort of picnic under a tree with pisco, chesses, grapes, and so much more. A very broad explanation to the area and volcanos was given, though I would have wished for a more thorough description. All in all, I would definitely do this tour again!
I had no idea that the lake had hot foutains on its bottom, great surprise. Although the surface was cold, it was a great time.
Magical experience in an amazing location, one of the highlights of our trip as the place is so special. Where else can you swim/float with flamingos eating only a short distance away? The guide we went with was Filipe and it was a joy to travel with someone so passionate about the place, the environment surrounding it and the history. He was knowledgeable and excited to share it (he was pulling out material he brought with him to answer questions, and showing us papers to help answer our questions) - he wasn't just a driver, which made what would have been a good experience a great one that I would do again in a heartbeat and made me feel a connection to the place I was visiting. There seem to be a lot of different tour companies, but I'd definitely recommend Whipala if Filipe (I hope I am spelling his name right) was the guide (I'd still recommend them anyway but it is the guide who can take it to the next level in my experience).
It was amazing! Lots of fun, beautiful views and Alex our guide was so nice! Included was a snack: so at sunset Alex set up a beautiful snack table with drinks, so much fun!
Our guide, Alex, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke multiple languages well. He pointed out all the best photo opportunities. We enjoyed our float at Laguna Piedras. You see Cejar, but can no longer float there, unfortunately. Regardless, I highly recommend this tour with Whipala Expeditions.
The tour is very well organized, especially our tour guide Sergio had a very good method for pick up, also very ponctuel , the experience to be float on the laguna is fantastic
Floating in Leguna Cejar was a lot of fun. We also learned a lot about the salt flats and our guide, Alex was funny and informative. We felt almost like family! The food and drink spread at the end was a great way to end the tour. We would definitely recommend this tour if you are in San Pedro de Atacama!
Great day at Laguna Cejar and Laguna Tebenquiche with Whipala Agency. We ended it up with pisco sour looking at the sunset set.
The place is genuinely beautiful, but the day we took the tour it was cloudy and very windy, so it felt quite cold. Upon arriving at the lagoon, they lend us robes so we don't get the towels dirty with salt, so when we rinse off the salt in the showers we can use our towels and keep them clean. We had Javier as a guide, perhaps he was a little tired, but I didn't feel comfortable with his guidance; perhaps he needed an assistant to be able to connect with the people who didn't speak the same language. At times I felt quite excluded and he didn't feel approachable either; he was also too repetitive with the flora and fauna, which made the tour a bit tedious. The snack was nice.
The Daniel guide is simply wonderful. Very excited, it gave the trip a new life. I didn't go into the lagoon, but the people who went in said the water was super cold. Despite this, the tour is beautiful, and the landscapes are breathtaking.
Spectacular. It could be longer in Laguna, but we understand the park's restrictions. Very well-prepared snack at sunset with mountain ranges and volcanoes at the bottom of breathtaking
A unique and beautiful experience, the guide Lorena is very smart and charming
Very good passio. Our guide Alexsander was great, the agency was great and the tour is very good. I recommend. Unique experience
Excellent experience; the visit to the lagoons are stunning and getting into the water and admiring the Andes mountain range is priceless. Excellent snack after the tour, fully recommended this experience.
The guide was very nice, very attentive, told us about the tour and gave us all the care we had to have. It was very good.
Very nice, the guide quite gentle and gave us information about all the places and the route. Super delicious snacks and convenient and safe transportation
Ernesto was an AMAZING guide. Their energy is contagious and they managed to keep our diverse group totally entertained and tidy during this beautiful tour to Laguna Cejar. His explanations were clear and very interesting. I recommend it 100%! If you are looking for a guide who will make you live a unique experience in the lagoon, Ernesto is your person!"
A very touring experience where you visit 3 lakes with the volcano landscape in the background. The possibility of experiencing the phenomenon of floating in a salty lagoon is also very interesting but the water is cold!!!! The stop in the Eyes of Salar for me is the best! Beautiful pictures. Our guide Ernesto is excellent. A snack was served which was also excellent
The tour to Laguna Céjar included a swim in the Laguna de la Piedra and it was magical to float in that salty water (and very dense and... very cold!) and full of those little shrimps that serve as food to the flamingos. We arranged the tour with this agency because Paula offered it to us shortly after we arrived, while walking along Caracoles Street, and it was very resolute and convincing. In fact, we hired a pack of three tours (the Valley of the Moon, Laguna Cejar and the Tatio geysers). Since it was the middle season (August) and there is not so much influx of tourists, it is common practice in San Pedro for agencies to negotiate among themselves and you end up doing the tour with a different agency than the one you have hired. Of the three tours, only the Laguna Cejar was operated by this agency and the truth is that it was the best of all we did. The guide, Sergio, explained everything very well, in detail, describing the flora, fauna, the origin of the lagoons, the volcanic context, the legends with which the Atacameños explain the different volcanoes... In addition, he answered all of our questions, completed the tour with related information that always helps you understand the origin and importance of what you are seeing and experiencing. He took group photos with the eyes of the Cejar and with the Andes in the background, but treated the photo by adding the names of the volcanoes and sent it to us all by whatsapp. Frankly a GUIDE, capital letters. I hope the agency realizes what it has and, above all, that it tries to operate the tours it sells on its own, rather than making agreements with other agencies that disappoint. Thanks, Sergio.
Amazing landscapes, ending with a snack at sunset!! Sensational!! The bath is very cold!! The guide was very attentive and friendly! Super recommend!
The contracted tour included transportation, entrance fees, and a sunset cocktail. The place is located within a Nature Reserve and in the morning only allows access to private visitors and in the afternoon (from 15:00 h and 17:00 h) allow access to visitors arriving on tours. We arrive at 15:00 h and after a walk along a path where the guide explains about the place you visit the Laguna Cejar (where it is forbidden to swim) and then you are taken to the Laguna Piedra where if you allow bathing, although in reality what is allowed and done is to float in the water since it is so high the concentration of salt that allows a person to float in the water without inconvenience. The stay in this lagoon is not more than 30 minutes since it is not advisable or healthy to stay in a lagoon with such a high concentration of salt. After this, we go to the sector of dressing rooms, bathrooms and showers which are very good facilities for the place and for the price of admission (I think $21,000). Later we were taken to the "Ojos del Salar" which correspond to two small lagoons and in one of them, if there is no wind, you can get photographs with reflection in the water. Here the guide prepares a cocktail which was quite good. Finally, the guide took us to the Tebenquiche Lagoon sector where we could see the sunset and then return to San Pedro. It is certainly a very good and recommended tour, and our guide Ernesto was a 7.
Great experience! It’s pretty crazy when you enter the lagoon and float effortlessly! Very powerful sun so use a lot of blocker
La guida Ernesto fue impecable y fue un buen gusto escucharlo. El lugar también fue hermoso. Lo unico punto negativo que todas la actividades reservadas se acaban antes de lo que está escrito en la descripción.
Nice walk. Pontual. Guia Rafael explained the context of the places visited, rich snack to the shade of the tree centenári, and the experience in the Laguna was quite fun. Facilities in Laguna are top.
Receptivo Capricorno Expediciones Lagoa Cejar (27/01) Beautiful landscapes, accompanied by very interesting explanations about the geological formation of the site and the origin of salaries! The guide Paloma and the driver Maurizio were very nice and attentive, making the experience even more profitable! The waters of the lagoon Cejar were pleasant and in excellent temperature to cool off from the summer heat! A very different experience, which is very well worth it!
Beautiful place, postcard landscape and Guide delivered us enriching information of the area. Very good experience!
It is an excellent option p who has half day available. The first stop is nothing more, but what was worth it was the guide's explanation. It gives you an overview of where you are and where you're going, historical explanation and everything else, it's very nice. The last stop is the best, despite the intense cold, it is worth taking a bath in the pond. But reinforcement is too cold. And the guide closes the tour with a wonderful coffee watching the sunset. Sensational!!
Felipe, the guide, a charmer. Passionate about his work; he gave us valuable information regarding the tour. Very attentive and lively with the group, respectful for us to enjoy the experience. It made us a great picnic, under a beautiful tree at sunset, in the middle of the desert, a unique experience. Besides, he waited for the full moon to come up so we could enjoy that show. Definitely magic!!! Grateful to the Whipala guides.
The tour is very nice and the guide is very knowledgeable and conveys the passion he has for his country, however he went too fast it was difficult to follow him on the walking routes and in his explanations!
Wonderful guide, unforgettable landscapes and great snacks and pisco with a wonderful view…. I simply loved
Beautiful place, floating in the water was a wonderful experience and the service from @caminandes and his guide Roberto was excellent!!
Sensacional!!! Paisagens incríveis, a lagoa é maravilhosa sem palavrasss!! Também vimos flamingos! A guia Sofia foi muito boa, sabia muito, explicava, conseguia manter todos juntos, café da tarde com pisco sour maravilhoso!!!
Lagoons located in the Salar de Atacama, with a high concentration of salts, which makes you float and not sink despite being a considerable distance from the shore. After bathing, there is a shower and bath service to get all the salt out of your body. Nice experience, accomplished, recommended for those who have not done it.
