We really had a great time on this tour. Brandon, our guide was very informative and our other guide and driver, Walter and Aldo were very efficient in setting up a great meal for us, as well as helping those in the group who needed help catching up & keeping everyone on schedule. They were very professional and accommodating. The flamingos and Piedras Rojas were the highlights of the tour, and the food was great!

I had a splendid time. This tour covers quite a few spots such as Piedra Rojas, Laguna Chaxa, salt flats etc. These locations are pristine and beautiful. You have to be there to witness the beauty. The tour guide was friendly as well.
Would highly recommend! For starters; the communication for setting up the dates and tours was quick, clear and helpful. Unfortunately I got stranded at the Argentinian border the day I was supposed to arrive due to bad weather. This meant a last minute change in my itinerary. Pukarumi was super helpful, understanding and even refunded the tour I couldn't attend. So kind! Then the tours; the are great. I did Pedras Rojas, Tatio and Valle de la Luna. The whole team; driver and guide seem very professional and knowledgeable. The guide shares a lot of interesting info during the tour. It never feels rushed. The meals are wonderful and well looked after. All in all, there is nothing I could comment on. Book your tour here, its worth every penny!
Amazing sights and well informed enthusiastic guide
Very well-organised tour, highly recommend.
We did a number of tours with Pukarumi and they were all very good. This one was. Stunning in terms of scenery. God guide & driver and very tasty food on route. Highly recommend
Andres and Jonathan of Pukarumi (activity provider) are so caring, one of our participants suffer from high altitude sickness and walk very slow grasp with oxygen, they were so kind to accompanying her and pick local chuchicandia for her. It was so effective. Beside, the scene was stunning and the breakfast and lunch was so delicious. afterall, it was a perfect experience.
Great tour, really nice to get to meet other solo travelers and the guides were amazing. Just be prepared for the wind as it can get extremely cold!
We had a great experience touring the Atacama with Brandon, David and Christian. As a guide, Brandon was extremely knowledgeable and charismatic, switching between English and Spanish seamlessly for our dual language group. Apparently Pukarumi is a big agency that handles tours for other marketers. The pickup was smooth, meals were well-prepared and it was a generally great experience. Probably the smoothest logistics I've ever encountered during tours across 3 continents.
I enjoyed my experience with Pukarumi Travel. The morning pickup was prompt. Even if we went to many places, I did not feel rushed. The tour took us to some of the best sights, ideal for travelers short on time. The Chaxa Lagoon was the best for me, beautiful sight and flamingos for little effort. Timely reminders on Whatsapp were valuable. Cheers to guide Brandon who can speak Spanish, Portuguese and English. I’m grateful to guide Walter who patiently encouraged me to manage the high elevations of Piedra Rojas. The high altitude was a bit tough for me. The rest in my group were perfectly fine. So I was the exception. The driver took care of the smooth ride. Don’t worry about bathroom breaks. There will be enough stops for you to take care of business.
Amazing gorgeous scenery! We were completely unprepared for the weather at Piedras Rojas though. I wish we’d been instructed before leaving home to dress for freezing temps and serious wind. We were so cold that it was hard to fully enjoy. The hike down to the lagoons was unexpected but manageable. The altitude is no joke, making any exertion so much more difficult. But the views made it all worth it. The flamingos were a highlight. It would be nice to find a way to limit those folks who want to take picture after picture at each site as others wait to try and snap a quick shot. Dozens of poses and wardrobe changes by the wannabe “influencers” were ridiculous. Our guide Francisca was knowledgable, but we really had to concentrate to understand her strongly accented English.
This tour was one of my highlights travelling across Chile, and across South America. The landscape was phenomenal. Cris was an excellent guide. Very passionate about his work, extremely knowledgeable and personality off the charts! He offered to take my photos as a solo traveller. The driver was very safe and also very friendly. The food provided was delicious, well prepared and presented. Thank you
We had a wonderful time on the tour. Our guide Cris was amazing, so friendly and so knowledgeable. We loved learning at every spot. It was so cool to see the flamingos, and the beautiful lagoons. We even got to see some Vicuñas. Our driver drove very well. And Patricia, the assistant was also very lovely. They all took great care of everyone and helped take plenty of pictures. The food was also great, beautifully set up and delicious.
A very awesome full day experience with amazing views. Our guide Francisco was truly great. Helpful, funny, informative and genuine! Would recommend.
A truly amazing day trip in Atacama. The scenery was insane and the guides were awesome! I would 10/10 recommend this tour if youre coming to San Pedro.
Dress warmly and bring some kind of face covering or scarf. It was freezing and I was afraid the wind would blow me over! Still the views were stunning. Our guide Brandon was friendly and very knowledgeable. I loved this trip.
Andres - our guide was excellent. Good english. He is having good knowledge. Edith , his assistant is excellent too. Both of them made extra effort to look after us. Gave enough time to absorb the beautiful scenery and enough time for photos. Thank you Andres and Edith.
Francisco was awesome! I had a few tours with him and he was the best - very funny, knowledgeable and considerate. The rest of the crew is fantastic as well, Julio, Misra, everyone really. Ofc the spots we visited were amazing as well. 10/10 from me!
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Chile. Communication was excellent. The pace of the tour was perfect, especially because of the high altitude. The flamingos were incredible. Breakfast and lunch were included and very good. I highly recommend this tour and tour company
Francisco, Julio and Misra worked great as a team to ensure we had a wonderful experience exploring the Altiplanic Lakes, Laguna Chaxa and much more. Francisco is an excellent guide fluent in both Spanish and English. You will be “in safe hands” if you choose this tour with these guys!
Amazing scenery, and Cris was a great guide. The driver was excellent. Thanks to both of you for making this a memorable experience. It was well worth waking early and wearing the many layers of clothing to keep warm. Scramble eggs were freshly made at breakfast, by the driver. Arriving at red rocks we got to see the wild ‘rabbits’ land several vicuña enroute. Cris made sure everyone was doing ok with the altitude. It affects some people more than others. The walking track is level though an uneven surface. I found it sad to see the effects lithium mining is having an effect on the environment, salt lagoon. It is highly likely the cause of the reduction in flamingo numbers at the chaxa lagoon . Saw no more than 20 . The contrast between that lagoon and the altiplano lagoons is noticeable. Lastly the tour was well organised and good communication. Highly recommend using this company.
We had two wonderful private tours with Pukarumi, with Francisco as our guide and Patricio (“Pato”) as our driver. Francisco was knowledgeable, patient and extremely accommodating throughout. His English is superb, so all his explanations were clear and easy to follow. On top of being an excellent guide, he is also a former chef and prepared a very good lunch for us during the tour. Pato was much more than just our driver — he was friendly and helpful, and also a great photographer! I would happily recommend Francisco as a guide to anyone booking a private tour with Pukarumi. Our two tours with Francisco and Pato were excellent from beginning to end. There were, however, some issues with communication and scheduling. At times, it seemed that the sales team, after-sales team and the team on the ground were not fully communicating with one another, and some of the information we received when booking did not match the final arrangements. For example, when I booked the astronomical tour, I was told it would start at around 7:30pm and finish at approximately 10pm. In the end, we were assigned to a group that would finish at around 11pm. That extra hour mattered to us, as we were already quite tired after a full day of touring and had an early airport transfer the following morning. We therefore decided not to participate and did not ask for a refund. Despite these organizational issues, I would still give Pukarumi five stars because the two private tours we actually took with Francisco and Pato were perfect. They made our experience in Atacama truly memorable.
We joined this tour to experience the wild and untouched landscapes of the altiplanics and it absolutely delivered. You get to visit many spectacular sites and see the wildlife in its natural state. The food provided was homemade and delicious to help fuel our energy for this longer tour. What I will remember most is how Anita our guide made the effort to be super accomodating and sharing her knowledge and passion for all things Chilean! She handled everything with a positive attitude and even gave us flags to take photos and took good care of us as the only English speakers. A truly unforgettable experience
They changed the pickup time from 7am to 6am without any explanation, which I didn't like, but it seems to be normal, as they did the same the previous day changing it from 2pm to 3pm. Other then this, the only thing I didn't like was how they organised pickups. They gave a 40mins range and didn't share the order of locations in advance, only when they started picking people up. Surely the order could have been shared in advance so people know if they're towards the beginning or the end of the 40mins range. Otherwise the Full Day Tour to Piedras Rojas, Altiplanic Lagoons and Chaxa was really good. The guide Roberto was great, he was kind, helpful, informative, funny, and he took really nice photographs of us! We saw flamingos, vicuñas, llamas, beautiful landscapes, the red rocks, lagoons, mountains, vulcanos. It was a great day. Breakfast and lunch are brought with us in the car and had at a stop outside on a foldable table buffet style. Many companies do the same at this location therefore queues for toilets can be really long... The company also packed separate gluten free breakfast (2 rice crackers, salami, cheese, 2 bite size cakes, nuts and dried fruits, plus there was orange juice, coffee and fruits for everyone that I could have) and lunch was already gluten free (meatballs, rice with vegetables, salad and dressing), so this was great, and it was enough. Breakfast could have been more though, but lunch was enough. The tour doesn't really involve a hike, it's more like a walk, which is great. The weather can be tricky though, it's cold in the morning at Chaxa lagoon, as it's around sunrise, at the red rocks it can be really windy, as well as at the lagoons but it's pretty unpredictable, so bring layers and windproof things. Overall we had a good time and would recommend this tour with Roberto, however I think it was too pricey booked via Viator.

Incredible day trip!! Unmissable experience. The flamingos were incredible and all landscapes were so diverse. Fransisca was a fantastic guide and very knowledgeable
Manu and Pipi were wonderful guides and drivers! Manu has such a wonderful joy for life, is super passionate about what he does, and really does help set the stage for a great day. They pulled out all the stops with a hot breakfast - eggs, avocado, manjar, coffee, all with the beautiful backdrop of the desert, and did the same again for lunch. Chaxa was unreal to see the gorgeous scenery with the flamingos.
Review for Jonathan Jonathan is an exceptional guide! We did both the El Tatio Geysers tour and the Piedras Rojas tour with him, and he made the entire experience unforgettable. He is deeply knowledgeable about the geological formation of the terrain and local wildlife, bringing the unique landscapes of Atacama to life. He was diligent about reminding us of all park rules to keep everyone safe and respectful of the environment. To top it all off, listening to him play the flute during the breakfast at the geyser was a magical touch that made the trip truly special. Highly recommended!
An absolutely unforgettable experience! This was my third tour with the agency, and once again, everything was perfectly organized. Francisco was our guide for the second time, and he is simply the best of the best. He made the whole experience extra special. Piedras Rojas was incredible, and seeing the flamingos was such a beautiful moment. Every single part of the tour was a pleasure.
An excellent tour. Our guide Francesco made the day a fantastic experience. The breakfast and lunch were a perfect touch.
A must-do tour. Top notch company. Francesca the guide spoke excellent English and watched out for everyone. Spent the right amount of time in each place. Breakfast and lunch were delicious. Nice to eat outside instead of in a restaurant.
This tour is so nice, it is included tickets, breakfast and lunch. And the tour guide was so nice. He speaks English so well and takes good care of us
An unforgettable experience! The scenery is spectacular. Francisca was a knowledgeable and fun guide, but Laura truly saved the day for us. We were debilitated by altitude sickness, and Laura went out of her way to remain with us, ensuring we felt safe and comfortable while moving at our own pace. Above-and-beyond service!"
A truly unforgetable experience. Francisco, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the different stops of the tour to Piedras Rojas, Chaxa and the Altiplanic Lagoons. Overall a very rich experience.
This tour was having two guides. Both were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely friendly. During the walk at Piedras Rojas, one guide led the group from the front while the other stayed at the back, ensuring that nobody felt rushed and everyone could enjoy the scenery at their own pace. The guides were always happy to share information about the area and pointed out the best photo spots along the route. They also let us know if we had already visited a particular viewpoint. Their local knowledge really enhanced the experience. They were also very willing to help participants take photos throughout the day. On the morning of the tour, we received a tracking link that allowed us to follow the vehicle in real time and see how many minutes remained until pickup. Breakfast and lunch were prepared by the guides and were both delicious. Despite being in remote locations, everything was well organized. The landscapes were absolutely stunning, and thanks to attentive guides and driver, the entire day was enjoyable from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone visiting San Pedro de Atacama!
What an amazing day. Our guide was amazing, really friendly and knowledgeable. The stops were all breathtaking and the tour company plans different to other tour companies so we had all the places to ourselves. We saw lots of animals along the way and the breakfast and lunch was amazing. Really recommend
Had a great trip with Francisco, loved the breakfast stop at the Capricorn sign and great food! The Piedras Rojas was the best part of the day, very very windy so take a windbreaker. Nice lunch too.
Amazing guide- landscapes - transportation- food - everything made for a tremendous experience!
Amazing experience from start to finish. The landscapes were absolutely unreal — Piedras Rojas, the Altiplanic Lagoons, and Chaxa Lagoon all felt unique and breathtaking in different ways. Seeing flamingos in such beautiful surroundings was a highlight. The tour was very well organised, the guide was excellent, and there were plenty of opportunities to enjoy the scenery and take photos. Definitely one of the best tours we did in Atacama and highly recommended.
It’s a very good planned tour: you’ll see many flamingos (some of them are close enough to see the details), two beautiful lagoons with birds, many vikuñas. In the one stop you’ll have a light walk in a Piedras Rojas where you’ll enjoy the beauty of nature. The last stop was Tropic of Capricorn. During the tour you’ll have many opportunities to make nice photos. Meal provided during the tour was really tasty: fresh avocado, meat/cheese and eggs, pastries and fruits for breakfast. Of course, hot coffee/tea will be provided. For lunch we had a delicious chicken, pasta, rice and vegetables and panna cotta for dessert. Everything was made from fresh ingredients and everyone was more than satisfied. Our guide Brandon was professional and energized - he told us a lot of information about places visited, Chile overall and answered all of our questions. It’s always cool to feel when people like what they’re doing:) Transfer was very comfortable. So, the tour was very interesting!
Excellent tour ( includes full breakfast and lunch). Our tour guide and driver were very informative, professional and friendly. This time of the year is windy so dress accordingly. Don’t forget to bring water to stay hydrated because of the altitude. The panoramic views are insanely beautiful. Highly recommended!
Fun trip to see some amazing sites around San Pedro de Atacama! Our tour guide, Andres, did a great job, describing each place in detail, taking awesome photos for us and keeping everyone on schedule, it was rhe right amount of time at each site. The locations were picturesque, the Piedras Rojas was freezing but we brought jackets like they suggested. Definitely recommend spending a day on this tour!
Excellent tour with Brandon from PUKARUMI yesterday with my adult son. Good communication from outset. Fabulous breakfast and lunch included in the tour. There didn’t seem to be a question Brandon could not answer, huge breadth of knowledge! Highly recommend this day tour . We have two more half day tours booked with the same agency.
Great day out. Laguna Chaxa was stunning, there was no wind so we had a beautiful mirror effect with the flamingoes. Breakfast was delicious with creamy scrambled eggs (best scrambled eggs I’ve had in 3 months in South America), smashed avocado, fresh bread, fruit, coffee (and meat and cheese but I didn’t try these). The next two lagoons were also stunning. Piedras rojas was beautiful, with a very easy mostly flat 20min walk to/from the view point (my 68 year old mum managed fine). Only downside was we only got 20minutes there which felt tight with standing in line for a photo on the iconic rock. Very tasty lunch with chicken, rice and salad. Thanks to Victoria, our guide, for the interesting day. Thanks to Brian the driver for both his safe driving and the delicious scrambled eggs.
Me and my girlfriend truly loved the experience! The tour was well organized since the day before, with instructions and everything; the pick-up hour was on time; and the food was excelent (both breakfest and lunch). The scenery is truly breathtaking, it seems that we are in another planet! Hard to describe what an amazing experience it was. But beyond the landscape, what made our journey so special was our tour guide George and our tour driver Julio. Such wonderfull people! George had so much knowledge to share with us regarding every aspect of the Atacama Desert! It was amazing talking and listening to him! And Julio, probably one of best drivers in the city! We felt really safe and had a lot of fun during all the drives! We just have a lot to thank! We truly recommend for everyone the tour and our guide and driver! Best regards from Brazil!
This is the most incredible place I have visited! A must see in the Atacama. The tour was very well organized and the guides were great.
It was a pretty great tour! Victoria was an amazing guide and really taught us a lot about each area we visited. The schedule was packed which meant it felt a little rushed, especially at Piedras Rojas. That is NOT the fault of the guides, but more about the nature of the tour. Breakfast and lunch spreads were impressive! Don’t forget that you are dropped off at the square and not at your hotel/hostel.
Would highly recommend this tour. It was 10 hours but it didn’t seem that long as we were constantly seeing things and on the move. Our tour guide (can’t remember his name) was great. Made the trip an enjoyable experience and spoke perfect English, we were sat next to him in the front of the mini bus so we were able to ask him a lot of questions. On of the best things about this tour was the food. We’ve been on a lot of these types of tours and some times the food is not good but both the breakfast and lunch was very fresh and tasty. Can’t think of anything to improve it!
We had a great time! Lots of driving in between stops but there doesn't seem to be any other way to see all the sites. Pictures do not do justice to the beautiful views. Loved the breakfast and lunch spread. There was plenty of food for everyone. Along the drive we made a few stops to see animals that were close to the road!
Great tour guide (George) gave us lots of energy and useful information on the tour. Recommend this tour.
