Such a great experience! It’s extremely cold so make sure to dress with a lot of layers!!! They tour was definitely worth it

This was a great tour! The tour guide was very informative and did a great job checking in on me throughout the day. The tour company was very accommodating to dietary restrictions during breakfast!
We had a wonderful experience on the El Tatio Geysers tour! The tour was very well organized, and a special mention goes to our guide and driver, Alex and Vanessa. They were both incredibly knowledgeable about the area and gave us clear and interesting explanations throughout the tour. They were also very friendly, fun, and helpful, which made the experience even more enjoyable. You could really feel their passion and expertise in the territory. The breakfast was also excellent and was a lovely touch, especially after the early morning start. Highly recommended
I reserved a trip, and then changed the date on Trip Ad isor. However, the operator must not have seen the date change because the old dates passed, and my trip disappeared. I lost my payment. So now I need to find another trip if I can.
The Geyser was one of the highlights of our trip. We managed to get a lot of great photos. We saw so many animals as well. We saw vicunas, American Rhea, flamingos and Viscachas. The guide and the driver took great care of us.
I truly enjoyed my El Tatio Geyser tour with Marta and Andres. The communication leading up to the tour was excellent. They weee very clear about what clothing to wear (it can be very cold in the winter, so bring everything they suggest and you will be perfect). I really appreciated the door to door service, especially since the tour started very early in the morning. The bus was comfortable and climate controlled for the one and a half hour drive. Marta conducted the tour in Spanish and English which was very helpful. The tour stops were incredible. The geysers were interesting and beautiful but it was the overall experience of how the landscape transforms as the sun rises that I will remember. While the geysers were the highlight, the lagoon, wildlife, and flamingos were absolutely unique to Chile and made for an excellent tour.
This was a fantastic tour! Our guide, Alex, was lovely and funny and provided us with a lot of very cool facts about the geysers and different historical facts. I would caution anyone who does this trip to make sure they have a WARM winter jacket- we did not dress adequately unfortunately and suffered for it but they did warn us in advance!
Amazing experience. The landscape is impressive. The guide gave us the info to appreciate and understand what we've seen. Suggested!
I had a great day with the guide Alex. We arrived very early and had the chance to experience the geysirs all by ourselves. Alex gave us interesting information, a great breakfast and we never felt rushed. Thanks again!
Everything was on time and in a perfect order: all places visited completed each other. If you’re thinking about the early wake up time - it’s totally worth it! The geysers are #3 in the world and they are majestic! In addition we saw some part of wildlife - vicuñas, fox, hawk, flamingos. Our driver Orlando was very attentive and careful, our guide (Marta) gave us all the necessary information in every spot and answered all the questions but wasn’t energized. Breakfast was on a sunny plato: scrambled eggs, the freshest avocado, cold meat and cheese slices, hot pitas - tasty and very authentic.
Alex was a brilliant guide who was extremely knowledgeable. He has an obvious passion for the natural wonders & environment & is proud to share that with visitors. He has a great sense of honour & cooks a mighty delicious breakfast. Thank you Alex for a wonderful experience.
An excellent day from start to finish with great guiding, tight organisation and a friendly welcome. Made a 4am start to ensure we were first at the entrance - had the place to ourselves.
Visiting El Tatio Geysers was one of the most precious moments of our honeymoon. We arrived before sunrise - on Valentine’s Day, no less - and watching the steam rise into the cold morning air as the first light appeared was completely mystical. Being there so early meant we experienced the geysers at their most dramatic, with powerful plumes of steam illuminated by the soft dawn light. The landscape felt raw, ancient and almost otherworldly. Our guide, Alex, was exceptional. He has been leading this tour for years and his knowledge, passion and genuine warmth truly elevated the experience. He shared fascinating insights about the geothermal activity and the surrounding Andean ecosystem, answered every question with enthusiasm and made us feel completely at ease. He is also an excellent and very reassuring driver - something you deeply appreciate on those early mountain roads. Despite the cold, we were treated to a wonderful picnic breakfast prepared by Alex, which felt incredibly special in such a setting. The tour was also impressively well-organised, with timely pick-up and drop-off at our hotel, and the use of WhatsApp for all communications - before, during and after the trip, including sharing photos - was incredibly convenient and much appreciated. An unforgettable experience in every way!

Despite the sub freezing temperatures, this is a beautiful spot in the atacama. The guide was very informative. The scenery was very different with vapour plumes everywhere in the early light.
Great experience overall. Everything was well organized, with clear instructions provided in advance, and the pickup was right on time despite the early start. The itinerary was well planned, with several interesting stops along the way that added variety to the experience. The breakfast was a nice touch and well appreciated in such an early and cold environment. Our guide, Alex, was very passionate and made the experience even more engaging. Overall, a smooth and enjoyable tour.
Alex was amazing. He came highly recommended and I highly recommend his tour with Whipala Expeditions! He drove safe, we were the first to use the bathrooms and the first to arrive at the geyser. He knew all the workers, he knew the flow, and the best places to wait and take pictures. Afterwards he made a delicious hearty breakfast at a lookout. Then we went to another beautiful lookout with lots of animals and birds. Alex pointed out wildlife on the drive, and he gave us suggestions for the town. He guided the tour in English and answered all my questions. I have a crossover car rented, but decided on the tour because Alex was so highly recommended. It would have been chaos driving and guiding myself. Absolutely worth it.
Had a very good experience on my trip to the el tatio glaciers with Alex today. Like an idiot I forgot my coat and Alex gave me his for the morning. That was a huge deal because with wind chill the temperature was around 10 F and I would not have been able to get out of the bus!
Great journey, with our guide Alex giving plenty of usefull information and cooking for us a delicious breakfast, better than expected.
Getting up at 4:15 in the morning was worth the tour. Alex was our guide: he was an excellent driver, was very informative and had an outstanding command of the English language. He was knowledgeable and made a mean breakfast. In addition to the geysers, flumes and vents we saw vicuñas, fox, flamingos and other wildlife. A must do for San Pedro de atacama. 👍
Alex is a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable about the area and the geysers and he knows about the best times and spots to get good pictures.
I do not recommend booking this tour with this company. I was transferred to another operator without explanation and was only informed late the night before the tour. I had already paid the entrance fee, but this information was not passed on, and I was initially asked to pay again. Although it was eventually resolved, the last-minute change left me no chance to choose another operator myself. This lack of transparency and communication negatively affected my experience
This is a great trip - I highly recommend it. Manuel was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. Breakfast came after the geysers visit about 4 hrs after pick up so I recommend bringing a little snack :) It really is as cold as they say on El Tatio (it was minus 6 Celcius in January) but it gets warmer as the sun comes up and you descend a bit to the the other destinations on the tour. They will pick you up from your accommodation but say they will drop you back in town, so if you are staying a little bit out of town talk with them beforehand about being dropped back at your accommodation.
Had a great experience on the tour. It was super cold but the views and landscapes made it worthwhile. The breakfast was delicious and the tour guide was friendly and full of knowledge
Nice trip to the Geyser field. Worth visiting, although not as sceneric as other trips from San Pedro de Atacama.
Alex provided an awesome tour of the geysers etc - very knowledgeable and funny. Built in regular toilet breaks and the breakfast was great.
Todo muy bien, nuestro guía Alex nos ha enseñado mucho. Gracias. Very good, our guide Alex give us many informations. Thank you
An excellent expedition. A very early start but worth it as Alex, the tour guide, made sure we reached the destination first. He gave a really good background on the history and geology while making sure we got full pleasure from the trip. Spotting wildlife on the way back to San Pedro was an added bonus.
Alex was great - extremely punctual and helpful for the whole trip. It was a beautiful trip, a lot of other visitors made the attractions quite crowded but I guess this is unavoidable. Thank you
Pick up time was very early, but it was well worth it. My guide Alex was very knowledgeable about all the places we visited. He always explained what we were seeing or about to do in both English and Spanish. It was very cold at the geysers - below freezing - so dress warmly. The breakfast was delicious. We saw vicuñas and flamingos. The only thing I would change about the tour is skipping Machuca, but I did get nice pictures of the church there.
The driver/guide was so wonderful, nice, friendly and made the experience very enjoyable and a total unique experience. The tour itself had the right duration and the different places we visited were not very crowded. The price was worth every single penny. If you are looking to enjoy a cold -10° C weather you would love it and also get to have a wonderful time knowing this places.
At first I was afraid of the whole adventure but Alex made everything feel so easy!! Honestly if you want to tour the geysers I 101% recommend this. Alex was knowledgeable of EVERYTHING, allowed us to ask questions and kept the pace of the tour enjoyable for everyone. It was a wonderful experience to connect with nature and learn more about this beautiful country. 5 stars to Alex and to the fantastic views we saw.
An absolutely fantastic tour! Our guide, Matt, was the perfect host, exceptionally informative and genuinely funny. Waking up before dawn was 100% worth it; this experience made the early start completely unforgettable.
A bit grumpy with the early start but as Alex our guide said ‘No pain no gain’. It was worth it to see the geysers, hot springs and fumaroles in their full glory. Alex was brilliant, full of knowledge and guidance. Even prepared breakfast. Tatio was great but the other destinations felt like fillers in the trip. Go for the geysers but don’t expect too much from the rest. 5 stars for Alex and Tatio, take away a star for the filler destinations.
Thank you Alex for an absolutely amazing tour. We loved the whole experience, your communication, precise timings, knowledge, delicious breakfast and smooth driving all made this a great start to our trip. Thanks again for a great morning ☺️
It was fantastic, Alex was great he picked us up on time, he was informative and knowledgeable on the places we visited. His breakfast was amazing, just a great morning.
The sights, very early in the morning, were worth the 4am trip. As our fantastic driver cum guide cum translator (to English) cum chef cum photographer, Alex, rightly said "No pains, No gains". After his scientific explanation about the geysers (after all, he is a mechanical engineer), he cooked up a fabulous breakfast, in a jiffy, for the 10 to 12 of us, at a flat spot - it was a superb picnic, amidst the beautiful sunrise in the mountains, with gulls trying to poke in. And then the sights of flamingos and vicunas, was the icing on the cake. Really a 5 star, memorable tour!
The early start was well worth it to see the geysers. Our guide Alex was great. He was very knowledgeable and answered every question. He was patient and let us take plenty of photos
A wonderful time watching the Geysers very early morning. Very nice to see steam columns springing from the ground. Guide Alex is very knowledgeable and nice person.
The tour was really well organized from start to finish. Our guide, Alex, shared lots of fun and interesting facts about the places we visited. He made sure we had enough time to take good photos, stopped to show us local animals, and even prepared a delicious breakfast for the group. He also gave us helpful safety tips for the main attraction, which was appreciated. The views throughout the day were absolutely beautiful, and Alex spoke fluent English, which made everything easy to follow. Definitely worth the price!
I booked the 5 tours in 3 days but unfortunately I was only able to do 3 tours. I aas able to do the geyser tour, profess Rojas ( subcontracted t through Andes travels) and Vellecito tour. Unfortunately rainbow valley, lacuna cejar and valley of the moon were cancelled due to rain and the company were more than willing to offer alternative like they did with vallecito or refund the money. I was disappointed I couldn’t do all the tours I had wanted but I still had a good time with the tours I did have .
Overall very good, interesting, great guide Alex. Would definitely recommend to others, early start but 👍
Almost never booked this tour due to the early start but so glad I did! Definitely a highlight of my time in San Pedro de Atacama and the tour guide (Alex) was really informative. Would 100% recommend and a great breakfast is included.
We had an excellent Tatio Geysers tour with Javier. We arrived at the Geysers area relatively earlier some of the other groups, and visited three different areas in the park. Javier is an amazing guide, he gave us detailed information about the area and the geysers in each section we visited. On the way back, we made various quick photo stops as Javier explained us the flora and flora of the Atacama Desert. He took very good care of the group - this is a high altitude tour so he gave us important reminders and recommendations about what to do and checking up on us. Very highly recommended!
Whipala is a nice guide shop. My wife got altitude sickness on the geysers trip and they were very kind and understanding about us not being able to attend the other high altitude trip we’d planned and made generous accommodations for us. Thank you!
Great excursion, but should not be called a full day tour. This tour started early but was worth seeing the Geysers. They are a very unique experience and very cool to watch. The stops after to Rio Puntana and Machuca were also nice. The guide Alex was very informative and stopped so we could take a lot of pictures.
We had an amazing tour of the geysers with Alexander as our guide. We received very detailed information to confirm our pick up and what to wear and bring. While we followed the same route as most other tours, Alexander made the difference in ours. Because of his extensive knowledge of the area, we were able to see more things without so many people around. Makes a big difference in a popular experience.
Great trip. Alexander was the best driver and guide. He was very knowledgeable and gave us a safe ride up the treacherous mountain. For those thinking about driving it on the own in a car, it is not a drive for the feint hearted. Thank you!
early start but worth it. the geysers are really impressive and the guide was able to provide a lot of information and context
Excellent service, picked on time and dropped at my hotel.Alexis the guide and driver was amazing .excellent knowledge and safe driving .clean car and the right number of group. Then I was amazed by the cooked breakfast as I expected a simple and cold sandwiches but wow wow Worth every penny
