My wife and I stayed at the Nayara Alto Atacama Resort in July 2026. It is a wonderful property with very welcoming and helpful staff. While all of the staff played a role in making our stay comfortable, we had very pleasant interaction with Jose, Eros, Gael, Esteban, Genaro, Camila, Pedro, and Joaquin. Their shuttle service to San Pedro de Atacama is very convenient and on several occasions they provided us transport both to and from town outside of their schedule. If you are thinking about visiting San Pedro de Atacama, we highly recommend this resort!

I highly recommend Nayara Alto Atacama hotel if you want some sort of comfort and service but not have to pay crazy prices. The all inclusive option was very reasonable. The hotel is not uber luxurious, but it’s nice enough to feel spacious and relaxed, it has a terrace with day bed and cushions outside the room to relax, they are also very accommodating to add an extra bed in the room so we don’t have to pay for 2 rooms for 3 people. The hotel also has 3 resident llamas who love eating the legumes fallen from the trees and they are very used to us feeding them every day. The restaurant staff are amazing. We spent almost 12 hours travelling from Patagonia to the hotel that day, and our first meal was served by Javiera who was smiley and energetic and made our dinner very enjoyable. Food in the hotel restaurant had been great too. The tours and excursions are phenomenal! Very well organized, all the tour guides were knowledgeable and great. We also hit one of the biggest thunderstorms and rain on 1 day which all the roads were closed and tours had to be re-routed and the guides were trying to find the best option for us. Mars Valley, Ckamur Sunset, Tatio Geyser are a must! Each tour has proper refreshment or meal outdoor, eg. We had breakfast with freshly made scrambled eggs on a plateau surrounded by snowy mountains for the geyser tour, we had hot pasta and salad, cactus fruit, with wine on another tour, had snacks, wine/beer/drinks for the sunset tour. The spa was also worth a mention. My friend and I had the deep tissue massage and it felt great afterwards. I had a shoulder problem for months that wouldn’t go away and the massage therapist (without me telling her) noticed the problem and worked on the fascia and tissues and it has been like magic since then!
After reading some of the reviews, I have to strongly disagree. I had a TOTAL opposite experience. The staff was so incredibly welcoming, they do the impossible to make you feel at home. They have humidifiers inside the room for altitude, they give you welcome drinks to help you adjust, and all their energy is clean and sustainable. Eros was AMAZING, he guided us throughout the hotel and even in the downtown area. Not a single staff member didn’t ask us if we need anything. Also, we are vegans and they made us vegan pancakes, sent their manager to us to offer us all the options!!! We were 3 people in one room. They got us an entire bed so that way we can all have our own. The views, the excursions, everything was incredible. The food was okay, but some things were great. Also the massage was nice, not extraordinary but not like how the other review said.. the lymphatic massage really brought down my inflammation, I recommend that one.
Truly a surreal experience, like staying on the moon. The hotel it’s tucked inside the mountains, which give off colors I’ve never seen anywhere else I’ve seen on the planet. The excursions were beautifully tailored, but our favorite excursion was simply walking out to the observatory at night and seeing the moon and galaxy without any light pollution. We also had the privilege of being present during a very rare thunderstorm in the desert! They were very accommodating toward our daughters and made certain everyone had a wonderful stay.
This hotel does not meet a five-star standard. While most of the staff are friendly and genuinely try their best, and the food is light and good, the overall management is very poor and unorganized. We did not feel welcomed. Making guests feel comfortable and at home did not seem to be a shared responsibility across the team, particularly at reception. There is a clear lack of coordination and ownership in guest experience. Stargazing-one of the main reasons we chose this hotel-is not realistically possible, either due to weather conditions or because of very strong artificial lighting from the neighboring hotel. When they are fully booked - or even as an info- they do not inform you that this activity can be done outside the hotel. The rooms are extremely dark, and there are no mosquito nets, which are absolutely necessary in this environment (a snapshot from the video attached). We showed a member of management the situation, he took a picture and gave us raid. Beds are comfortable, there is a loud fan noise in the room that cannot be switched off. Good wifi, humidifier in the room is a nice touch. The massage experience was unacceptable. After the treatment, I informed the staff that the massage was very bad. The response I received was simply, “Ah, okay, madam,” with no follow-up, concern, or attempt to address the issue. Despite this, I was still charged for the service. I have bruises on my leg. Considering the price, the photos, and the hotel’s reputation as a Leading Hotels of the World and with Michelin, the experience fell far below expectations. Upon arrival, we experienced altitude sickness and informed the staff. The only support offered was water. Two days later, we learned that the hotel actually provides a welcome drink with a special tea meant to help with altitude adjustment, yet this was never offered to us. This lack of communication and care was quite surprising. Overall, the hotel does not deliver the level of service, organization, or guest attention expected at this price point.
