Vail (the tour guide) helped our family celebrate a 60th birthday together in San Miguel. The tour was a resounding success (despite 80% chance of rain) Vail was flexible to move our time slot around to avoid the rain and ensure we could hit all the spots. Vail provided an enriching overview of San Miguel’s history, culture, and traditions. Our diverse group of nine, ranging from 25 to 65 years old, was thoroughly entertained by Vail’s captivating storytelling. Additionally, we were delighted by the delicious stops for tacos and margaritas. The time flew by, and we even managed to capture some incredible family photos during the tour. Highly recommend Vail for any tour in San Miguel it will be a wonderful time and celebration!

Val was an excellent Spanish speaking guide for children. She engaged them from the first moment and they loved it. The four year old in particular enjoyed the bilingual guide and skipped to each stop.
This was so lovely & V was so patient with my kids—truly I have a better understanding of SMA & it was a wonderful experience.
We had the best day in San Miguel de Allende thanks to Vail. She somehow created this totally custom experience for our multigenerational crew — ages 4 to 77 — that blended a scavenger hunt, a food tour, and a full city adventure, and it worked beautifully for every single person. Vail came prepared with these adorable, super-thoughtful guide booklets and crayons filled with facts, puzzles, and games. Our kids (and the adults too) were still playing with them long after the tour ended. It added such a special touch and made everyone feel included and excited. She was incredibly knowledgeable, patient with our endless questions, and so engaging. And the food stops… incredible. Every bite was delicious and felt authentically SMA. This was the perfect family activity — fun, stress-free, memorable, and a great way to explore the city together. Truly cannot recommend Vail and her tour company highly enough. If you’re coming to San Miguel with a group, this is the tour you want. Absolute 10/10!
Our family very much enjoyed the tour given by Vail. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about everything we saw on the tour. Our 8 year old grandson loved the tour and interaction with Vail. Would highly recommend the tour with Vail no matter what age you are!
Vail was an excellent tour guide! She was perfect for a group with kids. She is very knowledgeable and kept them entertained. We would highly recommend her for anyone!
The tour was fantastic! We were there with our two boys age 6 and eight and the guide was excellent at engaging with them and keeping them interested
This was a great tour with Vail. I had a family of 3 teenagers. Vail adjusted the tour for our family, very informative. I especially liked she texted the day before the tour and reviewed where to meet and time. San Miguel is colorful, artsy with lovely people.
Fantastic tour! Vail came with so much to interest and engage the kids (10 year old twins) and adults. I learned a lot and saw wonderful things; highly highly recommend this tour if you come with kids of all ages.
Vail took us on a fun and interesting tour. Lots of historical info and tales of the city. She was very knowledge and friendly. Highly recommend!
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone with children or even those without kids. Vail was full of information and fun facts for adults and kids alike. If I could give it 6 stars I would.
Vail was an amazing tour guide! She was incredibly accommodating and flexible when my daughter got sick the night before the tour and ended up not being able to make it. In San Miguel I was looking for a tour that was not only kid friendly but would actually be a highlight for my 12 year olds. Vail taught middle school and knows exactly how to engage kids! I was so pleased with the info and activities she provided on the tour. They really kept my son's interest. In fact, when my daughter was feeling better later, my son proudly showed her and my husband around, playing tour guide to let them what they had missed! I have no doubt my son retained the info because Vail had made it to exciting to him! Anyone with kids looking for a San Miguel tour should book a tour with Vail!
If you’re reading this, you’re lucky, you might get to spend time in beautiful San Miguel… with Vail!!! Vail was a teacher for many years and now does tours, so she has a wonderful way of speaking and presenting that makes things come alive. We did a foodie tour but learned so much general info, too! 10/10 recommend Vail has been in SMA for ~25 years so she has a wonderful depth of knowledge.
Our tour with our children in San Miguel de Allende was an absolute delight! Kristina went above and beyond to make the experience very entertaining and fun for everyone. She also provided super interesting historic facts and stories about SMA. We learned so much and had a great time exploring the city with her. It was definitely a highlight of our trip and we can’t recommend her enough! Family of 4 from Texas
We sis the tacos and tequila tour. We got a tour of the town with stops to taste some unique and delicious tacos and margaritas. Vail was an amazing tour guide. Her knowledge of the history of Mexico, the history of San Miguel de Allende and the history of the food was impressive. And she was a lot of fun to talk to. I would highly recommend this tour.
Our group of five enjoyed a customized taco and tequila tour of San Miguel accompanied by fun and interesting information about the town’s history and culture. Our guide, Vail, is originally from Minnesota and has lived in San Miguel for over 20 years. She has an excellent sense of how to make her tours both educational and fun. Her manner is so easy and welcoming that you feel like you’ve made a new best friend. She’s happy to answer any questions, whether it’s regarding the sights along the tour or about contemporary issues. We all enjoyed our time with her immensely. One of the best tours I’ve ever taken anywhere- and we travel a lot.
It was a great tour with Vail Kristina. She is very knowledgeable and has a very nice way to get you involved in the story. My daughter, 5years old, enjoyed the activities Vail had prepared. We very much appreciate Vail’s knowledge and recommend her to anyone looking to deepen your knowledge on San Miguel in a fun way.
Vail was excellent. She is so knowledgeable and made our food tour the highlight of our trip! Everywhere we went was way beyond my expectations. I would go again - I mean I WILL go again - whenever there is the opportunity to visit SMA. The restaurants were beautiful and the food delicious. I cannot say enough about Vail - she was a joy!
Our tour with Vail was wonderful! She is very knowledgeable (and passionate) about Mexican history and culture. She has a background in teaching, and really knows how to keep kids engaged. My boys, ages 10 and 12, loved the scavenger hunts and fun quiz competitions. The adults in our group were equally engaged. We all had a great time, and really enjoyed our included ice cream break. Vail’s enthusiasm and passion are contagious. We loved our time with her so much that we signed up for her nighttime Spirits of San Miguel tour. My kids wanted to hear all about the legends and ghost stories of the area. Highly recommend both tours! Thank you for an unforgettable experience, Vail!
I fully enjoyed the tour by Vail ! It was all enjoyable soo interesting as well educational! I highly recommend this tour for anyone ! Thankyou Vail for an awesome time! Hope to see you another visit!
What fun! We learned so much about San Miguel de Allende! I would recommend this tour and this tour-guide even to people who don't have kids!
We recently did a city tour with Vail with 3 kids (ages 9, 8, and 6). She highlighted many interesting, colorful, and historical features of lovely SMA and its inhabitants! The kids stayed very engaged and entertained throughout and were excited to share the lessons and stories after our tour. Highly recommended as a great way to learn more about SMA and see the centro area with new eyes!
Vail is an incredible story teller, about the rich history of Mexico, both pre and post colonization! Highlights for me included learning about the indigenous peoples who first settled in the area, who named the state of Guanajuato and built the Cañada pyramid! the myriad of colonial families, like the counts of Canal who built so many beautiful homes and churches, that still line these ancient streets! The exciting story of the independence and the local heroes that helped make an independent Mexico possible!
A great choice for groups and families of all ages. All of us enjoyed the experience! This tour is specifically aimed at families, so there is something for every age. Our talented guide made every site exciting. The extensive brochure with games, quizzes and coloring pages was a terrific bonus! I have never had more fun on a tour. As far as we are concerned this is a Do Not Miss when in San Miguel.
One of the best tours we've ever done. Vail is a very good guide, but she is also a teacher and very good with children. My daughters were delighted with the tour, super complete and with books so they could follow the information. She knows every corner of the city and has the best tips. Highly recommended.
Nos encantó el tour, Kristina hizo buena química con mis hijos, fue amable y muy entretenida. Utilizó materiales que les llamó la atención, pasamos un buen rato y conocimos lo más importante de la zona. La recomiendo mucho.
I took the tour with my son, we learned a lot and we made a bet on the trivia games and he won. We had a great time and highly recommend this tour.
