Tried to book via TripAdvisor the day before the tour and got a confirmation email. The next morning I got nervous that there wasn't any follow-up contact. The tour provider TEBJX showed as open and I tried to contact them directly via: WhatsApp (unhelpful AI), IG DM (no reply), their support phone numbers (disconnected) , email (no reply), and website (broken). I then contacted TripAdvisor and they said to wait to see if they showed up. They did not. I contacted TripAdvisor again and all they could do was offer a refund. Didn't end up making it to Guanajuato this trip as everything else was booked. TEBJX: No contact, no show

Excellent trip, Danny was very knowledgeable and shared Mexico’s history with us! The wife and I enjoyed the tour especially the mines panoramic view and downtown area.
My family and I had an absolutely exceptional experience on the Guanajuato tour with Fabricio as our expert guide! We were able to visit quite a few locations, including the Museo de las Momias, San Ramon Bocamina mines, Templo de San Cayetano Confesor, and the Museo Casa Diego Rivera. We explored the Calle Subterranea and enjoyed a delicious lunch in the city center. We also got to see the Museo Regional de Guanajuato Alhondiga de Granaditas on the way to the Mercado. We ended the day with a funicular ride up to the Mirador Hacia El Pipila for spectacular views of the city. It was a very full day and an extremely comprehensive tour. Fabricio was also very kind about making adjustments to the schedule as needed because it is a private tour. Fabricio is born and raised in Guanajuato, which means he knows the city like the back of his hand. Fabricio speaks perfect English, which was helpful for my mother and sister, who do not speak Spanish. This is a fantastic tour for people who are looking to spend a day exploring Guanajuato and seeing just a snippet of what it has to offer. We are excited to return to Guanajuato in the future and we would hire Fabricio again in a heartbeat!
Guanajuato came alive for us thanks to Fabricio. He showed us the city not just as a guide, but like a friend welcoming us to his hometown. We walked through colorful alleyways, learned stories hidden behind the architecture, and understood the history and heart of the city in a way we never could have on our own. If you want a tour that feels personal, authentic, and full of fascinating history—Fabricio is the one!
Our guide was delightful and very knowlegeable. We really enjoyed our tour. He was on time, knew the city well and gave a colorful tour of all the historic sites. He took us to a local restaurant which had the best meal of tthe vacation!
We had an amazing day with Fabricio. As a local he knew all of the ins and outs of Guanajuato and gave us a whirlwind overview! Highly recommend. He was so great as a resource for the rest of the trip that we used his services as a driver for the rest of the weekend as well.
Our "tour guide" was not a tour guide at all, but just a driver. He spoke no English and said about 2 words to us the entire day. He spoke so little English that he couldn't even answer basic questions, much less give an in depth tour and history of the area. He offered no guidance on where to eat for lunch, and took us to only one of the places that we were told we would see. Once we arrived in Guanajuato, we were completely on our own to figure everything out. When I complained to the tour company and asked for a refund, I was gaslit and told that he spoke English, but was a new tour guide and was "nervous." I don't know about you, but when I get nervous, I don't entirely forget how to speak the language I was hired to speak. This company is untrustworthy. Do not give them a dime.
Terrific tour! Our driver Carlos was great, very punctual, helpful and knowledgeable. Our guide Alex Puga was amazing. He is an accomplished local historian, excellent English speaker, with great knowledge of the area and lots of fun! Thank you for a wonderful day! Anita
Our guide, Fabricio, a Guanajuato native, picked us up right on time after contacting us ahead to confirm time and place. He was an excellent guide and teacher, and in Guanajuato he took us to the Diego Rivera Museum and the Museum of Mummies to start. We had the best Mexican meal at Los Huacales, and continued on to the high viewpoint, the Pipila, where we could see the whole city spread out before us. We walked or drove past the University, the Teatro Juarez, and other magnificent buildings and sites important to the culture and history of this amazing city. The 3 of us who participated all agreed that Fabri made the day special and fun. Our travel to Guanajuato from SMA and back (to a lesser extent) was slowed by pilgrims participating in the annual walk to San Jose de los lagos. Fabricio taught us about this event which occurs at the end of January each year and involves many thousands of devout pilgrims. So although it meant more stop-and-go for us, the pilgrimage gave us more insight into the local culture.
Daniel demonstrated an impressive depth of knowledge about the area, blending history, culture, and local anecdotes. What set him apart was his intuitive understanding of our group’s dynamic. We were a bit of a wandering bunch, easily distracted by unexpected sights and detours, yet he remained patient and flexible throughout. He skillfully adapted the itinerary on the go, ensuring we never felt rushed while still covering all the highlights.
The trip started a little frustrating. We were told we were going to be picked up by 10 AM, we waited in the lobby and nobody was showing up. The hotel representative tried calling the number that was on our voucher and the number was disconnected. I tried calling Trip advisory to get some help. All they could say is that they could confirm that the trip was booked. We needed to know if we had somebody coming to pick us up or not because we had already waited for an hour. The representative could not get a hold of the company either. We waited a bit longer and finally decided to call and cancel our trip. As soon as I hung up the phone with the representative, the driver pulled up. And at the same time, I got a call from the tour company saying that the driver they had originally contracted had stomach issues and could not make it so at the last minute they got Fernando. After all this, Fernando gave us the tour that we paid for. It was a wonderful tour wonderful site. He had a lot of knowledge. The actual tour was a great experience and we would totally do it again. The only complaint we have is that we were not notified earlier that it was going to take longer to pick us up. If we would’ve known this would’ve not been such a nightmare.
We had a lot of fun exploring Guanajuato. Our guide was very friendly and a great driver. I wouldn’t recommend him for guests who don’t speak any Spanish because his English is limited.
Really enjoyed the mummy museum as well as the tunnel system in Guanajuato. Also, learned a lot about the mines in and around town.
Fabricio was a wonderful guide. I had never visited Guanajuato and I think we got to all the highlights. He shares his knowledge and love of the city. We saw the Mummy Museum, the mining museum and the Diego Rivera Museum as well as historic churches and the cites of the city center. I highly recommend this tour.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant to be with. Even though there was a light rain he showed us more than what was expected.
The mummy museum was fascinating. The buildings were extrodinatly beautiful. And we loved the wild ride through the tunnels. Our guide was knowledgeable and tailored parts of the tour to our interests.
We saw so many sites on our tour of Guanajuato! Fabricio knew all of the great places and how to make it easy to get to them. Just keep in mind there is a lot of walking with stairs and hills.
Well I thought Guanajuato was a lot closer to San Miguel de Allende but I was wrong! Lol.. some of us got a bit car sick and the driver was extremely nice and patient. We definitely went at our pace. No rushing us in and out of anywhere. Stopped for us to get off and buy some meds and water. They have a set itinerary but you go at your own pace and can modify any part of it. Very informative and kept my father entertained! He loves to talk and the driver was his perfect match! Driver definitely went the extra mile by dropping off my parents at their hotel after he dropped us off. I would definitely book them all over again.
We cancelled tour when tour operator showed up with compact car for 4 senior adults after I specifically asked Viator call center person about the vehicle and was told it would be a van or SUV. Also, guide that showed up, barely spoke English, to boot.
Our driver was friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. He was responsive to our needs and attentive. His English language skills were excellent. We were less than thrilled with the destination and have no interest in returning.
Everything was great. The funicular ride up to the hill and the view from there. Patricio was very knowledgeable and gave an excellent tour
Both the tour of Guanajuato and the tour guide were excellent. Fabrício is very knowledgeable about Mexican history, as well as history of Guanajuato. We visited the mummies, the Diego Rivera Museum, the market, and several other spots. He was very accommodating and very knowledgeable. I dropped my glasses and lost the pin holding them together, and he took the time to find an optician to repair them on the spot. Highly recommend the tour, and this excellent tour guide, Fabrício.
Our Guide was wonderful! He was well-informed and patient. He took us to ihe most interesting places and allowed us to experience local culture. He was fun and we thoroughly enjoyed his company and the tour! I highly recommend him!
Views were amazing! It’s really nice to have a private tour guide to show us the sites and the history of the place. Lots of walking but you don’t even notice because there’s so many things to see. 1 day is definitely not enough.
Giovanni was the best tour guide. He was very attentive and very welcoming. I highly recommend this experience and Giovanni.
Fabricio picked us up at our place in SMD in a clean, comfortable car and drove us to Guanajuato. We toured the mummy museum, the mining museum, and several beautiful churches and had a completely terrific lunch. We saw the site of the first battle of the war of independence, which Mexico lost. We traveled through an amazing web of underground tunnels. We went to the Diego Rivera museum. Before we decided on this tour, we wondered if maybe we should take a bus and tour ourselves around. We are so glad we didn't do that! Fabricio had many interesting things to say about history and culture! We increased our knowledge of Mexico and had a completely wonderful day! Now we are exhausted and happy. We highly recommend this tour.
Fabricio, the guide, was almost one hour late and never really apologized. He did make up the time at the end. He was quite knowledgeable, but had a very set agenda and didn’t seem interested in whether we had other preferences. Very friendly. Took us to a very good restaurant for lunch.
After you take this tour from SMDA, you’ll want to spend a week in Guanajuato on your next trip to Mexico. Guanajuato is fantastic! Fabricio is an English and Spanish speaking guide who will take you, in one day, to beautiful places in Guanajuato that you’d never find on your own. He is extremely knowledgeable and accommodating, going out of his way to make sure you do and see everything you want—tip him well! This tour is unimaginably better than going on a group tour or going in a taxi or Uber. You will love it! Insider Tip: Fabricio will take you to eat some of the best Mexican food on the planet, no matter what your taste. …Let him take you to the lunch place that doesn’t serve alcohol—you can get a beer or glass of wine later, but you won’t find better Mexican food anywhere. …I’m a mole guy, and my wife is an enchilada minera gal.
Beautiful, unique small city in Mexico with Silver mining history.Guide/driver was native of G.and this was very key to a highly enjoyable day
Fabrico was an awesome tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and was attentive to what we wanted to see!
We had a fantastic day in Guanajuato. There was a small hiccup when two private tours were merged into one, but it was quickly resolved. Alex our driver was excellent. Our Spanish speaking guide Mario Everardo Aguilar was exceptional. He is a local who gave us a fantastic private walking tour. Being a local, he took us to the highlights but with a locals intuition. A great day trip from San Miguel de Allende.
Our guide’s intimate knowledge of Guanajuato made for a fascinating, informative trip. We highly recommend Fabri! The architecture, history, Mummy and Diego Rivera Museums, the gold/silver mines were highlights. It is a city steeped in history!
Fabri was an excellent guide, very pleasant, good and safe driving, knows a lot about his city and the area, and adjusted the pace and order of the tour to accommodate our preferences. highly recommend. We were able to visit places that would have been hard to find and access on our own and definitely would not have learned as much.
Fabricio drove a comfortable car, picking my friend and I up in San Miguel de Allende. He was informative about the city of Guanajuato and the surrounding areas as we drove there. He knows the history of Guanajuato and its importance to the nation of Mexico. The stops he chose were fun and interesting, including a place for lunch in the city center’s garden. It’s a long tour and there are lots of stairs, but we’ll worth the effort. He gave us our tour in both English (me) and Spanish (my friend). I highly recommend this tour.
Unfortunately, our tour was canceled. Our scheduled guide tour fell ill and could not accompany us. I will say that we were informed with plenty of time to schedule with someone else. Also they did promptly refunded our payment
Our tour guide picked us up on time, he took us to see the sights that we wanted to see. His knowledge of the Rivera Museum and the city history made the tour extra special. He took us to a great local market for an amazing late lunch, another hour of sight seeing then we had a nice drive back to San Miguel.
Excellent driver on time , attentive and great conversation We enjoyed the city is a wonderful place with beautiful plazas and great ambiance
One of the worst tours ever. Driver was not on time, we paid for a van instead got a small car, our guide Kevin spoke limited English. We did not learn about the history of Guanajuato or the important architecture. At one point our guide put us on a funicular and then abandoned us. We paid $260 dollars for a ride to Guanajuato and to walk around. A total scam, and a rip off. I will never use trip advisor again for booking a tour!!
Fabricio is a great communicator . In addition knowledgeable, nice, good sense of humor and great explanations given during the trip. He was always attentive to our needs . He had lunch with him in a fabulous restaurant . Love the driving in Los callejones, the history oft his fabulous town. One day was not enough.
Our tour guide is very knowledgeable and flexible , talk a lot of history and show us all the places we like to visit and all important historical sites. We enjoy this trip so much, highly recommend it.
Fabricio was a pleasure to spend the day with. We were picked up and curated through the whole day till drop off. It’s a beautiful and most unique city. Essential trip if your in SM for more than a couple of days.
My tour was cancelled by company and they did not offer reschedule. Was unable to get another tour with late notice. Hope they refund.
We absolutely loved everything about this tour! Our tour guide, Adrian, was very knowledgeable & nice!
We had a fantastic tour of Guanajuato with Fabricio! He was very knowledgeable about the culture and history of the city and let us customize the tour based on our preferences. It's a beautiful and interesting city, not to be missed. Fabricio was a safe driver, speaks excellent English, and was fun to spend the day with.
Booked a private tour for my parents who are in their late 70s and do not speak Spanish. Adriana gave a delightful customized tour to my parents. They were very enamored with the city of Guanajuato. Adriana gave lots of information about the history, the customs, and current cultural information. Adriana was very kind and cheerful and looked after my parents in the warmest manner. She even drove all the way back to San Miguel to deliver my father’s wallet that was left in her car under the seat. My father hadn’t realized it was missing, Adriana’s daughter found it in the car and Adriana texted me promptly. I love traveling in Mexico, the Mexicans are always welcoming, warm, and helpful to Americans who need assistance. Adriana’s tour was top notch and my parents were thrilled with their day with her.
Adrian was wonderful!! It was not his fault but our tour started an hour late. Fortunately we did not have other plans later in the day. That is the only reason for less than 5 stars.
Adrian customized the trip and took us to the places we wanted to see, also did a walking tour of the city and gave us great recommendations for food and where locas go
Searching for your guide by the name Fabrizzio de Guanajuato. Call Yolie in USA. You were our tour guide for me, my friend and another couple. Fabrizio was studying at the university.
The view from the Funicular was spectacular. Fabrizio, our guide, was well versed in the history of the town. He was entertaining, very courteous and mindful of our needs.
Fabricio is a native of Guanajuato and knowledgeable about the town and local history. He came directly to our isolated to AirBnB in San Miguel and drove us just over an hour to his lovely home city. His tour includes a tour of local residence who were naturally mummified (we declined), a visit down into an old silver mine, several historic churches, an explanation and tour of the unique tunnels within the city used now for local traffic, a visit to the Diego Rivera museum, finished by a stroll through the historic old city center and a ride up the funicular railway for a magnificent view of the city. Fabricio was accommodating and a pleasant guide to this charming city.
