Another win for Catrina Tours! Our group of four had an amazing day with our guide Diego. Guanajuato is not to be missed --- such a vibrant city! Narrow, colorful, winding streets reminded us of Barcelona, and the university provided lots of student energy. We visited during the Cervantino festival, so Don Quixote and 17th-century costumed minstrels appeared around the Jardín de la Union and Teatro Juárez. Meanwhile, nextdoor, the underground Centro de Innovación Hub, a start-up incubator and collaborative workspace (located in a previously flooded and buried Franciscan monastery) encourages present and future creativity. Creativity also appears on city walls, where elevated graffiti does credit to Diego Rivera's legacy. This was our last day in Mexico, and Diego and Catrina tours insured the day was wonderfully full. Travel from San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato included a stop for delicious gorditas and a visit to the Museo de las Momias. Once in Guanajuato, we explored the historic center, visited the Museo Casa Diego Rivera and had time for last-day gift shopping. The day ended with a terrific meal and airport drop-off. Mil gracias to Diego and Catrina Tours --- we loved every minute. Both Diego and Catrina Tours have our highest recommendation!

This was an incredible experience. Our guide, Leo, was phenomenal. He was knowledgeable and gave us a great history lesson. I couldn't recommend it enough. Book it!
We booked this last minute directly with the tour company for 7 people and the cost decreases per person with the larger the number of people in your group.. This makes the price unbeatable with large groups for what you get (transportation, snacks, water, lunch, museum fees). They were AMAZING with arranging a driver and English speaking tour guide Susanna last minute right before new years. We had a private large van that picked us up on time. They let us modify the itinerary to do some shopping for boots (which the teens really wanted to get) and to park close to sights to limit the walking for the elder in our group. We also spent more time at the mummy museum and added in the Kissing Alley for the couple who had visited 24 years ago on their honeymoon. This tour company and tour guides are so flexible and AMAZING it is worth every penny. Whatever you want to do for the day, they will do their best to make it happen!
We booked this tour after some research. The tour operator provided a driver and a guide, two separate people, not like other companies offering the same name, but driver is the guide which is less satisfying to my opinion. The guide, Martin, was knowledgeable and friendly. The lunch was in a decent authentic Mexican restaurant. We had good time with newly gained knowledge of the city. To save the cost, I recommend going to operators website and book directly with the operator.
Daniel led a great and educational tour. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Very comfortable minivan and pleasant driver. Highly recommend and reasonable price compared to other option from our hotel.
We had a fantastic day with Diego discovering the beautiful city of Guanajuato! Pickup was on time and smooth and the bus was very comfortable. Diego is an amazing guide and was so full of knowledge. It was a culturally enriching tour topped off with a delicious lunch. Water and lunch were included in the price which made it much easier -- no need to start splitting bills at the restaurant. We were happy to support a local, family-run business and would definitely take more tours with Catrina Tours!
Angie was our tour guide and she did an amazing job with our tour in Guanajuato! She was very knowledgeable and friendly! Also very patient with our group of 6 while taking pictures. She did a very good job of completing our tour in English while explaining the history! 10/10 definitely recommend!
Second time my wife and I used Catrina tours while in SMA, and they exceeded our expectations again. Communication and payment with Diego has been excellent. Our guide and driver showed up early, but did not rush us. Car was a very nice, clean, leather interior mini van (honestly, one of the nicer cars we've seen in SMA). Driver was cautious, thoughtful and timely. Our guide, Angie, was super gracious and welcoming. We had an option to take the same tour with a group, and we're very glad we did a private one with Catrina for a few of the following reasons: we saw views and tunnels we could not have seen in a larger bus, Diego Rivera museum was explained intimately so that we could hear easily and ask questions, local lunch spot was not one we knew, but was a highlight when we saw a quinceanera and wedding outside a church. Most importantly, having a private guide allowed us to maximize our time and wonder the streets without getting lost and adding multiple hours to a day that is already long. The private tour was reasonably priced and worth every peso!
Wonderful tour of the city with an excellent guide and driver. We were able to see everything we wanted to see and learned a lot about the history of the area.
We had the pleasure of having our own private guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, polite and flexible. Same goes for the driver taking us safe back and forth from our hotel in San Miguel de Allende.
Diego was a wonderful guide, he is full of knowledge, humor, and patience. We learned so much on our tour of Guanajuato. We will remember it always!
The guide Alexandro was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. If we wanted to skip something or add something else, he was fine with it. We were picked up on-time in a new, very clean vehicle. The driver drove safely and picked us up promptly when we were done. I would highly recommend this tour and the tour guide.
Beautiful city, Martin our tour guide was very informative and we enjoyed his company. We got to see a lot of different things and would recommend.
We had a professional, respectful, knowledgeable, and personable guide, plus a driver in very comfortable vehicle. We got to see many places in one day.
We couldn’t have asked for a better day! The day was customized to accommodate our physical limitations and our interests. Highly recommended!
Alex and Rodrigues provided a perfect tour for the four of us to Guanajuato with return to San Miguel. Picked us up promptly at our Casa in SM in very comfortable car. Talked about the sites on the way to G. Had a 5 hour tour of G. Alex very knowledgeable and personable. Tour included the overlook, the Historico Centro, the Diego Rivera house and a lunch next to the Basilica Our Lady of G. Arrived back in SM by 5:30. Perfecto!
Our guide, Martin, was very knowledgeable on every topic. He customized our tour nicely to meet our interests. Don’t miss the Diego Rivera house/museum. This is a really unique city worth the visit. We had a very enjoyable day from San Miguel de Allende. Would rate our guide and the tour 5 star.
Martin was an excellent guide for our day in Guanajuato. He clearly is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his city, and it showed. From the church at Valenciana, to the silver mines, to talking about the student population - we clearly got a good feel for Guanajuato. We enjoyed a delicious lunch in the main plaza, the Diego Rivera house, and just walking around the beautiful city. Rodrigo got us to and from San Miguel safely (and quickly!) I would totally recommend taking this tour to Guanajuato. It was a little pricey, but it was a private tour for 2, with transportation from San Miguel, but completely worth it.
Leo, our guide, was remarkable. He had a deep knowledge of architecture, history, culture; he could answer all our questions; and he had a sparkling personality.
Luis was a personable and knowledgeable guide. He conformed the tour to the interests of our group and gave us historical content to both the architecture and the art. We highly recommend Luis!
Our guide was informative, professional and friendly. The whole experience was wonderful and I learned so much about the history of the area. Our driver also did an excellent job of getting to Guanajuato City in a timely manner and safely.
Leo and our driver were amazing ! They were very knowledgeable and friendly ! It was a wonderful tour and soo worth it !
This tour was perfect for us as we were both a bit comprised physically-breathing and knees. Our extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide Diego went at a slow pace for us and avoided stairs too. We experienced the primary sites regardless. Ride in comfort with Diego and the excellent driver Brandon.
Luis was knowledgeable and fun! We had an educational and enjoyable tour. Luis tailored the day to our desires rather than sticking to a rigid schedule.
Luis's narrative was knowledgeable and insightful. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and would recommend it to others.
Luis , knew all of the important areas of the city , views , museums & restaurants. He was very patient and answered all of our questions . He took us to a delicious coffee shop and lunch was absolutely delicious!
Guanajuato City is a beautiful city with wonderful people culture and history. Luis our guide and our driver Rodrigo were excellent. When traveling to San Miguel de Allende we recommend a visit to the city and possibly an overnight stay.
Leo was a great tour guide and Brandon a great driver. He used the 1.5 he drive to talk about The development of Mexico and the different regions. He was knowledgeable and engaging as we visited the various churches and museums and vista points. Thank you to Catrina tours for accommodating our travel needs. Really appreciate it!
Our guide was so knowledgeable and made the town come alive through history, culture and art. It was a wonderful way to experience a place for six hours and come away with an outstanding overview.
Luis did an excellent job as our guide on a day trip to Guanajuato from San Miguel de Allende. He managed our time there very well so that we were comfortably able to experience the highlights of the city , with time to spare for lunch. We especially enjoyed his guidance and enthusiasm for art as we toured the Diego Rivera and Cervantes museums. His English is excellent, and he was extremely personable and able to field our questions about Guanajuato and all things Mexican. We would highly recommend him as a guide for any purpose. We also appreciated the service of our driver Osiel, whose skill and efficiency helped us make the most of our limited time in Guanajuato.
While we had read about Guanajuato being a UNESCO heritage site it far exceeded our expectations. Diego is beyond amazing guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and engaging. Made every effort to make this tour memorable
Luis Luis (so good they had to name him twice) really made our day in Guanajuato special and educational. We felt very “Covid safe” throughout the day. I loved how he gave us options on how our day would unfold. We started with the famous mummies. Cool and creepy! He suggested that we do that first before the line would get too long. As we came out of the exhibit it was clear he was correct. The line was almost around the block. Having him as our tour guide really made such a big difference in how many things we saw in a single day. Then we went to this awesome “overlook” for some great photos. OMG! It was so much to Take in with the eyes all I could get out of my mouth was, “Wow! Wow! Just wow!” Next we worked our way down from the overlook through several colorful alleyways. Luis asked us if we would like to see the Benito Juarez (historical) theater and we said, “Yes!”. That was a great decision because they are about to close that theater for a two-year major renovation. (Probably by the time you read this, you will not be able to actually get inside of the theater. Such a shame. It was so lovely.). He picked an awesome lunch place for us. (Get the mole dish!). Luis was so friendly and knowledgeable on the history of the area, that it REALLY made our one day in Guanajuato amazing! PS Our driver, Brandon, kept us all safe and on time. He did not speak much, since he focused on the driving.

Catrina Tours is the best! Diego spent all day with us and showed us around Dolores Hidalgo and Guanajuato, at our own pace. He is extremely professional, courteous, and well-informed about not only Mexico but also the world. It felt like we were being shown around not by a guide but by an interesting and intellectual friend. Highly recommend!
Really disappointed my guide has very bad appearance wrinkle clothe no even comb her hair. My tour was no prepared even that I called and mentioned what places I would like to visit. No Museum of Momias was prepared with tickets, I fell I can do this tours myself.
A very positive and worthwhile tour, that we thoroughly enjoyed. From p/u to return, we were very pleased. Our driver and car(there were 4 of us) were very safe and clean. Our tour guide Israel was “the best” Very knowledgeable and eager to answer our questions and easy to understand. We saw all major sites in Guanajuato and had a very unique and interesting silver mine stop on our way back. If u wish to see Mummy museum, be sure to tell your guide, because u need to do it early. (We did not wish to visit, but when we talked about it, Israel warned us it is very busy) I think if u have time Guanajuato is a must visit and this is a very good tour
A great guide always contributes to a great tour experience, and this was the case here. Diego was charming, knowledgeable, fun and professional. He conveyed the essence of the art, history, geography and the soul of Guanajuato. This is precisely what we were looking forward to. Guanajuato is a special and charm filled experience not to be missed. It's so distinctly dissimilar to San Miguel de Allende and that was a fun surprise. Spend your money intelligently on good guides, this is a good one.
We are in route back to our home Currently and I had to write. We spent a week in San Miguel and used Catrina Tours for two different tours. On both occasions I had Diego as our guide. It was fantastic in every way! He was knowledgeable, helpful, easy to talk to and ask questions and fun to be with. I wouldn’t hesitate using him the next time I come to San Miguel in hopefully be in the near future. What a beautiful experience it is to visit there and Catrina was a fantastic resource.
My friend and I were delighted by our afternoon spent in Guanajuato in the company of Alejandro, who gave us a terrific walking tour of the city that included museums, cultural sites and the university, as well as a delicious lunch in town. He was friendly, informative and entertaining throughout, answering all our questions about the region and city, and giving us great advice about other activities we could look into during our stay in San Miguel. His candor and reflections about life in San Miguel (as a resident and family man) were also much appreciated. Highest recommendation to the tour company and to Alejandro in particular.
Alex and driver, Esteban, arrived promptly and steered us through an extremely successful day. Alex's narrative began almost immediately upon leaving the hotel, informing us about things of interest in SMA and as we made our way to Guanajuato. His pacing was well-suited to the tour. He didn't bombard with information, but provided wonderfully clear and insightful observations. Time in Guanajuato was a delight. Alex showed us so many things that, on our own, we never would have discovered or appreciated. That the tour included a delightful lunch added to the day's success. On booking, we had trouble believing that it would take 8 hours. But it does -- and deserves all of that time. Highly recommended!!
Our tour guide Diego treated us to a wonderful experience! Especially loved him walking us through the Diego Rivera museum. He was very knowledgeable about art, history, architecture, food ... you name it! A wealth of interesting information. One can tell that Diego loves his calling which is being an excellent tour guide. We also enjoyed amazing street food from vendors that he knew & he took us to one of his favorite restaurants which served us a delicious lunch. Highly recommend this tour and our guide Diego!
We booked this tour after experiencing a walking tour of San Miguel with Diego. He was fantastic! He lives in San Miguel, grew up in Mexico City, knows his history and art, his recommendations of indigenous artisans and restaurants were spot on (and he doesn’t get a kickback), his English is impeccable, his enthusiasm boundless. He is professional in every way. We thoroughly enjoyed him, learned a lot, and would recommend him without reservation.
My husband and I had an amazing tour with Israel. In addition to Guanajuato he was very knowledgeable about all things Mexican -history, art, food, mescal, etc. The day in terms of going to sites we were interested in was very flexible with great suggestions from Israel. Can't say enough about how great the store was.
The day couldn't have been better! Israel's breadth of knowledge of Mexican history, art, culture, food, mescal was outstanding. His willingness to adapt the tour to our interests was exceptional. Wonderful personality to boot. My husband and I just thoroughly enjoyed the day!
Israel was a great tour guide, very fun, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. As a family, we thoroughly enjoyed our excursion to Guanajuato under the lead of Israel.
Diego was the perfect tour guide with tons of knowledge about local history, art, and architecture. Lunch was great too! We really enjoyed our day, and highly recommended Catrina Tours!
Our guide was exceptional and helped make our day fascinating. He was able to tell us about the history of the area in as much detail as we wanted. The Diego Rivera house museum was a treat.
My wife and I had a great day touring Guanajuato from San Miguel de Allende. We were picked up in the morning by Diego and his driver then headed to Guanajuato. The drive was about an hour and a half but went by quickly as Diego spoke of this area of Mexico. When we arrived at Guanajuato, we saw an amazing view of the city from a site above the the town. Entering Guanajuato, it was as though we were back in Florence with the narrow streets and a 17th century look. Diego then took through the city, providing information about the sites we visited, it was great. Diego is a very accommodating person and will stop where ever you want to go. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wishing to visit Guanajuato on a day trip.
Alex, the tour guide was very friendly, informative and professional. Thoroughly enjoyed the day despite the start-up where we were given a car where the windscreen was cracked. Once we voiced our safety concerns, a different car was made immediately available - the car with cracked windscreen should not have been provided in the fist place by the tour operator but Alex made it up the rest of the day together with a sumptious lunch! Thank you very much indeed.
Diego is the best. We were a group of 5, with my mom and cousin needing assistance with stairs. He took care of them and even carried our shopping bags and jackets. Guanajuato is a beautiful town and there's so much to see.We spent around 6 hours there and it wasn't enough to admire it's beauty. Will definitely be back. Thanks Diego! You are awesome.
