Very good tour. Variety of food and drinks. There was quite a bit of walking, but it was centered in the main part of downtown. Our guide was very personable, and all the other participants were fun and very enjoyable.
Omar was great! We had delicious food and Omar had a Lot of knowledge of the history of food. 10/10 would recommend
Thanks for all the infirmation.
Omar was a great tour guide. We only had a short time in San Miguel so this was the perfect excursion to learn some information about the history of San Miguel while also getting to try new foods!
Sam was great. All of the food we experienced was fantastic, and he was a wealth of information regarding the food and the overall history of San Miguel. Sam reached out the morning of, and the meet-up spot was easy to get to. We would highly recommend this excursion.
Great fun, great food, great guide. Sam our guide was knowledgeable and very helpful. Would take another tour with him
Sam was absolutely brilliant. He not only gave us insights into the local food scene he also brought so much rich history into our experience. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the tour and Sam. I would love to spend more time learning from him. Thank you Sam! You made our trip!
Omar was very knowledgeable about not only the history of the region, but also the history of the food. Great tour!
Omar was great. Wonderful history buff and great foodie. We had a great time
Our guide was fun, engaging, knowledgeable, and kind. The food was delicious, with a good variety of flavors and experiences. We enjoyed the other travelers and had interesting conversations. Well worth the investment.
Omar was amazing! So knowledgeable about history and food - and just an all-around nice guy. Highly recommend this tour while in SMA - make sure you arrive hungry!
It was great! We love that Omar taught us so much about food, about history and culture and ethnology, geology, all thru food!!! We’re glad we did this at the start of our trip, not just to know where to eat but also everything we learned will make the rest of our trip so much more relevant and valuable.
Great tour of some local restaurants with some history and information about the city thrown in. Absolutely loved Omar as our guide.
Omar was a very friendly and knowledgeable host st on our tour. He can breed a lot of history of the area and the origins of the food we sampled. All of the dishes were delicious and a good representation of the area.
My husband and I went on this food tour the day before we left SMA. We also did a walking historical tour a few days earlier. One of these tours would’ve been enough. Our guide, Vail Kristina, was very knowledgeable and provided many interesting facts about SMA. The food on this tour was fine, but just not very memorable like other food tours we’ve taken. The enchiladas mineras was the best dish in my opinion. The sudden rain storm prevented us from making it to our dessert section of the tour, but our guide quickly came up with a back-up plan. Our group was super flexible about that. All in all, it’s a good tour to book, but go within the first few days of your trip,
Excellent way to see the city, learn more about its history and try some excellent food! Tried some things I probably would not have ordered otherwise and loved it all. Omar was a fantastic guide and so knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Omar did a great job on the food tour. He is highly recommended!
Hi! Traveled to San Miguel de Allende for a wedding. Got here a couple dates early to explore the city! Let me just say, first full day here and my boyfriend and I decided to take a “Downtown Food Tour!” It was the best experiences that we have gone on! Our guide was SAM! Hands down the best! Super knowledgeable when it came to history, food, and just all kinds of city tips from places to go after the tour is done! Literally any questions I had, he knew it! So great and Beyond resourceful! Let me say, we had 5 stops of dishes (won’t spoil it for you)… you will remember all the names to go back for seconds! He was just simply great all around and super kind! Highly recommended if you take this tour and hope you get to be guided by Sam! You can go with anyone like you can go with family, friends, etc!
We did a private Original Downtown tour with Vail Kristina. She was fantastic at teaching us about the history and culture of San Miguel. As a former teacher, she kept our 9- and 10-year-old daughters fully engaged, and even brought copies of her bilingual picture books to read to them. The food was delicious and a great way to learn about food traditions of central Mexico.
My husband and I spent a fabulous afternoon with guide, Omar. His knowledge of the cultural and food history of Mexico and San Miguel de Allende up through Mexico's cuisine being UNESCO listed in 2010 was very thorough. He was entertaining as well as informative. We enjoyed the entire time we spent with Omar and walked away with much more knowledge than we could have hoped. Thank you, Omar! Robin and Laura
I was the only one on the tour and Jessica was kind enough to take me around and introduce me to San Miguel‘s delicacies. Jessica is an absolute doll! She’s kind, knowledgeable, and fun to hang out with for a couple hours. I highly recommend this tour
Interesting history of the city and the people. Good variety of food to sample. We loved the final entree of tostadas
We had a great time with Elisa and the other participants. There were 10 of us and Elisa made sure we all knew each other by the end of the tour. It was not only a food tour, but a historical education as well. Fun time.
We wanted to love this so much, and I’m not the type to leave many reviews but unfortunately we didn’t have a good experience. We were very excited due to all of the amazing reviews however our guide seemed disconnected and unpresent/on his phone. Some of his responses to his questions were vague and very non-chalant and disclosed he didn’t have much sleep all night. Some history parts were definitely interesting however. Then, as a foodie paying for a food tour, the food did not meet expectations. We both love street food and are very familiar with Mexican cuisine and the choices of restaurants felt very substandard for the city. All in all we appreciated parts of the history however we did not feel this was worth the price.
Omar provided an entertaining food walking tour and we learned some interesting history about San Miguel. The delicious food left us quite satisfied!
Omar was a delightful guide. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the fascinating connections between food and history.
Omar was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. The food was great! I would recommend this tour for sure
Our guide, Elisa, was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Make sure you go very hungry because there is so much food to eat - too much for us!
We Like it very much .............................................................................................................
We had a wonderful time with Elisa. She was informative & took us to 3 delicious restaurants for authentic food. On our last 2 stops had amazing churros & ice-cream. Do not miss this tour!
Sam was full of history and interesting facts about the food and culture of San Miguel. We took our time at each place and everything was delicious.
We had such a great tour and learned so much food history from Elisa! Unique tasting ice creams and fantastic food all over!
We enjoyed the food, culinary history, and San Miguel history on our tour. I only wish we had done it earlier in our stay because Omar gave us a great overview of the town and lots of dining tips. Omar was friendly and knowledgeable and the other participants were fun.
Omar highlighted the origin and history of the dishes we tasted which was a plus. All the places were fairly close walk from each other. Omar also pointed out many other places to get dishes that we did not visit on the tour. We sampled several of his suggested spots later.
Great food and enjoyable guide. The tour was well paced and had lots of options for people with food allergies. Would loved to have had even more history of the town incorporated into the tour.
Sam took us on an absolutely delicious and highly informative tour through the center if SMdA, till we were literally bursting. He is a kind and highly knowledgeable guide.
We had an incredible experience on our food tour with Mary. She was extremely knowledgeable and shared so much history along the way, which made the experience feel much richer than just a typical food tour. Mary clearly knows the city inside and out. What really stood out was how she went above and beyond for us, even adding a detour to show us a couple of additional hidden spots we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. She also shared a list of additional restaurants and places she personally recommends, which was incredibly helpful for the rest of our stay. To top it off, Mary even followed up with a text afterward to make sure we had everything we need to be sure we truly captured the beauty, culture and the best food before leaving San Miguel de Allende. It felt personal, relaxed, and thoughtfully curated. If you want a tour that blends amazing food with authentic local history and insight, Mary is great.
This was a great experience to start our visit in San Miguel. Sam was an excellent host who set a low key, but extremely informative tone- it felt like walking the streets of Miguel with a knowledgeable friend. The food was delicious and we learned new things about the origin of specific dishes and traditional Mexican cuisine. Highly recommend!
Omar was a wonderful tour guide and he gave us a lot of history about the food and San Miguel. We highly recommend this tour
It was thorough, delicious, authentic. Sam was a wealth of knowledge about the food & tge Sam Miguel area. Highly recommend
We were delighted when we learned that Sam would be leading this food tour. We met him a couple of years ago on another food outing and were impressed with his knowledge and enthusiasm. He makes the experience a lot of fun. Participants will have an opportunity to sample several traditional Mexican dishes and learn a bit of history at the same time.
We had a wonderful experience with our tour guide Jessica and our party of five adults. She was attentive to our group including one who is a vegetarian and two who were less mobile. She selected wonderful restaurants and we tried some new dishes. She has given us suggestion long after our tour.
We had a wonderful time on this tour. We got to learn about the city and the food! in a casual easy manner. We learned about the cuisine but also about the restaurant scene. Jessica was wonderful with five adults. She was thoughtful about our group with a couple of our party being a bit less mobile than the others and one being vegetarian. We loved our tour guide and she is still giving us suggestions even after our tour. I highly recommend this company and our guide!
Omar was an excellent guide. His extensive knowledge of the food scene and the history of the area made the tour so interesting. Every stop had wonderful food.
Omar was an excellent tour guide on our food tour in San Miguel de Allende, bringing an incredible depth of historical knowledge that made every stop even more meaningful. His passion for the city truly enhanced the entire experience and kept us engaged from start to finish. And to top it all off, the food was absolutely delicious!
We went on. a Taste of San Miguel evening tour this month, which took place 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. It was a very small group and our guide, a teacher in San Miguel, was so knowledgeable about her city. The five places we visited were all upscale, gorgeous settings,
Sam is a wonderful guide, and is deeply knowledgeable about the cuisines and history of San Miguel de Allende. I came away from the tour with a profound respect and increased curiosity for the local Mexican history as well as the culinary traditions here. I highly recommend this experience for anyone who is looking for insightful and relevant information about San Miguel and its culture.
Our guide, Jessica, was wonderful. You are fortunate to have her as as an employee. All of us on that tour thought she was great.
Sam was very interesting, knowledgeable and engaging. The food was unremarkable. We have done Tacos and Tequila twice and we revisited some of the same restaurants on each of these tours. With so many great spots in SMA, I feel every day could and should be a new experience.
