Lets to know the reason for the curious name for this legendary place on the outskirts of the city. A historical landmark because here was shot the emperor Maximilian of Habsburg.
One of the greatest examples of the baroque, this nunnery was established in 1607, by don Diego de Tapia son of one of the founders of Queretaro. Join our tour you will be amazed by its gorgeous altarpieces fully cover with gold leave.
A beautiful always green square with its fountains and kiosk from the early 1900s, located in the very heart of the city, it owes its name to the beloved governor of the State don José Santos Zenea.

A "must visit" place in the tour, this building works as the Governor´s Palace. This is the place where doña Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez was imprisoned in 1810 and from here she wrote and send a letter to Captain Allende, doing possible the insurgent revolution against the Spanish crown.
The main square of the city, surrounded by beautiful baroque houses and nice restaurants, has a monument to Don Antonio de Urrutia y Arana, the Marquiz who sponsored the construction of the aqueduct.
You will fall in love with this beautiful church built in 1680; its facade, altarpieces, paintings, and pipe organ are awesome. Here is venerate a painting of our lady of Guadalupe done by the famous colonial master Miguel Cabrera.
Symbol of the city and proud of the people, this magnificent hydraulic work, was built from 1726 to 1738, by the Marquis Don Juan Antonio de Urrutia. It is 1280 meters long with 74 arches, the tallest of them is 28 meters tall. let's drive it all its long, side to side.
According to the tradition this convent was built at the top of "El sangremal" hill, the place where Queretaro was founded on July 25 on 1531. Come to stroll by its patios and corridors that remind us of the former evangelization by the Franciscans and let´s know the tree that blooms cross-shaped thorns.

The owner of the company that offers this tour is reputable and will take great pains to correct any problems one might encounter on the tour. The guide on our tour was far below average and I wrote a scathing review, but the owner of the company gave me a full refund and offered to provide another tour with a different guide. Sadly, I was unable to take advantage of the tour because I was no longer in Mexico, but I would not hesitate to book another tour with this company. They went above an beyond to make me happy!
After booking this tour I was notified that I would not be picked up at my location as advertised. I was told it was a private tour yet 2 others were booked. They finally agreed to picking me up. I was taken to their tour office where Fernando our tour guide met us. A charming personality was not a trait to be had. Not until we got to Queretaro did Fernando tell us anything but only with us asking questions about the city. There were a few highlights. First was by accident when we visited convento de Santa cruz. A dance troop of Indians was performing. It was amazing but Fernando gave no real information about this special happening. We googled it to get answers. We walked around and saw squares with historical importance. Had lunch at a nice restaurant on our own. Finally went to site where Maximillian had been killed. Tour ended and headed back to San Miguel. Got back hour earlier than advertised. Also was told i would not be returned home as advertised .Fernandos calling is not that of a tour guide. I enjoyed the day mainly because of the 2 others on the tour. Wish I would have been bewitched.
Did not go. The tour was canceled at the last minute. Less than 24 hours before. We had to scramble to find another tour on the same day.
The tour operator was a no show! Waited 45 minutes! Didn’t even call. Tried to contact but was not responding to phone call.
Our guide, Jesus was informative, friendly and flexible. Great tour of Queretaro with a local San Miguel native
Of the many beautiful old historic city centers in Mexico, Queretero , in my opinion is one of the finest. It is so because of the quantity, high quality and variety exceptional buildings. Some of the churches are extraordinary.
Terrific tour, very informative and interesting. Visited all the important sites and heard history behind each one. Highly recommend.
Spending the day with Jesus was a joy. He is passionate and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring Querétaro with him.
Although the trip was wonderful with an excellent guide and driver, I had an awful time processing my tour through Viator. We needed to add two participants to the group. I was told, midday, that my reservation would be canceled and a new one set up. It took a lot of hours from my vacation, errors and nashing of teeth. Finally at 9:30 PM...the evening before (a 9am tour) I completed a reservation. The only way I was able to process this was to pay $80 that I DID NOT OWE. I will be in touch with Viator for a refund of $80!!!! I am an angry loyal customer!!!!
Cancelled last minute by vendor. The require a minimum number of people but we’re not able to get it. It’s pretty easy to get local tour guides by checking around Plaza de Armas, where there is a tourist info office. Hope we can get a refund!!
This was an exciting, educational and fun trip. J. Jesus Rodriguez was a superb guide. He was knowledgeable, fun, amiable and extremely accomodating. Querataro was a beautiful town with lovely architecture and numerous churches that allow one to compare architectural styles and review history. If your main hub is San Miguel de Allende, you are picked up and travel in comfort to Queretaro. This is a full day trip (~9am to 5pm) so allow yourself time to enjoy!!
We were disappointed in this tour, inasmuch as many of the places that were on the itinerary -- two museums and the national theater -- were closed. And they've been closed for a long time due to Covid. Our tour guide said, "we'll need to cut the tour short"...we suggested we visit a winery on the way back, but this came from us not him. The guide himself was knowledgeable about the history of the location, which is why this isn't a 2-star, but the owner, Jesus, should either have not booked us on the tour at all or at least informed us that after a one-hour+ drive many of the destinations would be unavailable.
Jesus was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable about Queretaro. We enjoyed our time and feel we saw much of Queretaro. Learned some history and saw many historical locations He tailored the tour to fit our needs. Recommend highly.
Our tour guide Jesus showed us the interesting parts of Queretaro. We saw the hill of the bell, the amazing Juarez statue, gorgeous churches some of them dating back over 500 years and so many delightful colonial buildings in addition to the aquaduct. Jesus knew the history of the churches and the many monuments. He’s also a good driver!!
Many thanks to Jesus Rodriguez for his in-depth knowledge of Queretaro. We spent a very interesting day with a friendly guide. Marianne
