San Juan

Puerto Rico's Isla Verde is one of the Caribbean's most perfectly positioned water sports destinations — a world-class beach strip minutes from an international airport, with warm turquoise water, consistent waves, and every conceivable water activity available right from the shore. From parasailing 400 feet above the coastline and jet skiing the northern shores to surfing Pine Grove's Atlantic breaks, snorkeling pristine offshore reefs, and paddleboarding the calm waters of Condado Lagoon, Isla Verde delivers an extraordinary variety of on-water experiences wrapped in the vibrant energy and culture of Puerto Rico. Over six exhilarating days you will explore secret mangrove channels by speedboat, sail to a protected island paradise, and discover why this stretch of Caribbean coastline — sitting less than ten minutes from the airport — is one of the most underrated water sports destinations in the entire region. No passport is required for US travelers. Just board, book, and dive in.

Itinerary

Day
1

Day 1: Arrival & First Splash at Isla Verde Beach

Touch down at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport — one of the most convenient arrivals in the Caribbean, with Isla Verde Beach less than ten minutes from the terminal. Check into your beachfront hotel and head straight to the water. Isla Verde Beach groups three distinct beach environments: Hobie Beach for calm swimming and watersports rentals, Balneario de Carolina for family-friendly swimming with lifeguards and full facilities, and Pine Grove for surfers seeking deeper water and stronger waves. Spend the afternoon getting acquainted with the coastline — rent a paddleboard at Hobie Beach, take a long swim in the warm Caribbean, and explore the hotel strip as the afternoon golden hour turns the water copper and gold. Tonight, dinner at one of Isla Verde Avenue's excellent restaurants — fresh Puerto Rican seafood and cold Medalla beer to close your first Caribbean evening.

Day 2: Jet Ski Safari, Parasailing & Banana Boat

Today is all about speed, height, and the extraordinary perspective that the Isla Verde coastline offers from both the water and the air. Start the morning with a guided jet ski tour along the northern shores of Puerto Rico — following an experienced guide who will show you vibrant coral reefs, crystal-clear coves, and untouched natural areas you would never find on your own. After the jet skis, it is time to go higher — parasailing 400 feet above Isla Verde Beach delivers one of the most breathtaking views in the Caribbean, with the turquoise coastline stretching in every direction and the San Juan skyline shimmering to the west. Round off the afternoon with a banana boat ride — skimming over the waves at high speed with the colorful coastline of Isla Verde as your backdrop — the most fun you can have on the water without a license.

Day
3

Day 3: Piñones Speedboat Tour & Mangrove Adventure

Today ventures east along the coast to one of Puerto Rico's most extraordinary and least touristy natural areas. Board a speedboat for a guided tour through the Piñones area — a thrilling mix of open water speed and quiet mangrove channels where the natural scenery shifts dramatically from wide Atlantic ocean to sheltered forest waterways teeming with herons, pelicans, and kingfishers. The Piñones mangrove system is a protected coastal forest of giant trees with stilt-like roots that feels completely wild and remote despite being just minutes from the urban beach strip. After the boat tour, explore the famous Piñones food kiosks on foot — a long row of casual local stalls serving alcapurrias, bacalaítos, and fresh seafood that represent Puerto Rican coastal cuisine at its most authentic. Rent a bicycle and ride the beachfront boardwalk back toward Isla Verde as the afternoon softens into evening.

Day
4

Day 4: Catamaran to Icacos Island & Snorkelling

Today's big adventure takes you offshore to one of the finest snorkeling destinations near San Juan. Board a catamaran from Fajardo — about 45 minutes from Isla Verde — and sail out to Isla Icacos, a protected island surrounded by extraordinary reef systems teeming with tropical fish, sea turtles, and vibrant coral formations. Snorkel over kaleidoscopic reef gardens, swim in the warm clear water, and spend time on the deserted beach while the crew provides fresh tropical drinks and a delicious local lunch on board. The return sail in the late afternoon delivers the kind of wind-in-hair, sun-on-skin Caribbean experience that stays with you long after you are home. Return to Isla Verde for the evening and explore the excellent dining along Calle Loíza — the lively connecting avenue between Condado and Isla Verde packed with local and international restaurants, bars, and food kiosks.

Day
5

Day 5: Surfing at Pine Grove & Condado Lagoon Paddleboarding

Two of Puerto Rico's finest water sport experiences on opposite ends of the energy spectrum fill your penultimate day. Start the morning at Pine Grove Surf Beach — one of the top surf destinations in the San Juan metropolitan area, with deep water and consistent waves that cater to every level from complete beginner to experienced surfer, with multiple schools offering lessons and full equipment rental on site. Spend the morning learning to read the Puerto Rican swell and catching your first proper waves before breaking for lunch. In the afternoon, head west to Condado Lagoon for a completely different kind of water experience — stand-up paddleboarding through the calm lagoon waters alongside the historic San Juan skyline, where manatees occasionally surface beside your board in one of the most unique and memorable urban paddleboarding settings in the entire Caribbean. Return to Isla Verde for a farewell dinner at Vivo Beach Club — elegant pools, live music, artisanal drinks, and the sound of the Caribbean lapping just below.

Day

Day 6: Final Morning Swim & Departure

One last sunrise over the Caribbean from your hotel terrace, one last swim at Hobie Beach in those warm turquoise waters, and one last café con leche and tostada at a local bakery before your transfer back to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport — less than ten minutes from the beach. Isla Verde delivers a water sports experience that is genuinely hard to match anywhere in the Caribbean — varied, accessible, perfectly located, and wrapped in the warmth and energy of Puerto Rican culture that makes every moment on and off the water feel completely alive.
