Utuado Canyon, River & Waterfall Adventure In Puerto Rico

Fantastic tour of lesser travelled spots. Our guide was so knowledgeable and shared so much rich history about the culture and history. It was perfect for me and my kids. The adventure was wxciteing and challenging, yet Yamila made it perfectly accessible for my kids. Highly recommend.

We had so much fun on this tour! Yamile was amazing and very accommodating especially since part of our group didn’t know how to swim. The tour consisted of rock climbing, going in the river and hiking so having good physical fitness is important! We had the opportunity to change after the tour at the restaurant and got to eat some authentic Puerto Rican food! If you’re looking to explore the countryside of Puerto Rico, this is the tour for it!

Not only was the Utuado Canyon adventure by far my most favorite tour we did during our stay in PR, it is one of my most favorite tours/ adventures I've ever done. From start to finish, Yamile was professional, friendly, and educated. Her love for PR and nature are evident in everything she did and she shared that with us. Utuado Canyon is breath taking and we barely saw anyone else while we were there which made the whole experience that more special. The restaurant we stopped at for lunch had great food and ambiance as well. It was a tiring day but one I would do again in a heart beat. My only hope is that we can return to PR one day and do another one of Yamile's tours and maybe even Utuado again!

This is the second tour I’ve done with Yamile. I visited her very year ago and did a tour with her, and when I came back I booked with her right away. This was by far the highlight of my trip to PR. She truly wants you to feel the culture and the history of Puerto Rico. She takes her time and explains how to navigate the canyons, rivers, and slopes. She is knowledgeable and does a great job making you feel engaged. You will truly feel like a part of her family. The scenery is breathtaking. The carvings were amazing to see in person. This is more than a business, this feels like she is spending the day with you and bringinf you into her world. I just can’t say enough about Yasmile. Book and the trip. Any trip she offers. You won’t regret it. Bonus for the early start - it was peaceful and not crowded. It made the experience even better.

Wow wow! This was an amazing adventure for our family and Yamilla makes you feel like it. This was our second outing with her because the cave tour was one of top tours in our years of travel. This tour was just as wonderful and our kids have another forever memory. Yamilla is so knowledgeable that every minute of the tour is entertaining. Thank you so much!!

This tour was a highlight of our trip to PR. Yamile is the consummate guide: taking us places we would never to be able to manage on our own, teaching us about the local culture, and making it all so fun. This whole experience was like a scene out of the movies. The atmosphere was like a scene out of Jurassic Park. The carvings on the stones were so cool to see in person in the history behind. It gave me chills as our tour guide explained it in detail. She was very informative, kind and patient with us as my brothers can be a bit exciting and obnoxious at times. She made sure we were safe each step of the way, guiding a step-by-step through the rough rocks climb, climbing up and down and across through the water. We will be booking this tour during our next visit for sure. Oh, and let’s not forget the amazing hidden waterfall. She took us to my brothers couldn’t help but jump in it, allowing the waterfall to push them down and out. It was scary but guys like my brothers are huge thrillseekers and if you love a thrill, this is a tour for you.

I highly recommend this tour. It is definitely, exploring like a local and worth it. We were 3 of us and the minimum was 4 so I paid for the extra empty place and do not regret it a bit. It is a unique and different place in Puerto Rico. Most experiences are as expected in thick jungle or beaches, but this was unique. Views in the canyon are breathtaking; the river is beautiful and the petroglyphs are something difficult to find anywhere else. Please, if you go, respect the place and leave nothing behind. YOU MUST be able to climb and swim. The trek is challenging if you have balance issues, some areas are really slippery, and you will have to swim against current sometimes.

Absolutely amazing. Yamile, our guide, was phenomenal! So knowledgeable and passionate. This was worth every minute and I would suggest this tour be a part of any trip to Puerto Rico!

This is exactly what I was looking for - I learned so much about the central region of Puerto Rico and saw the beautiful canyon and breathtaking petroglyphs. Yamile our guide gave us a rich history of the Taino community and answered all of our many questions about culture and nature. I love how she blends adventure with a tour that’s tailored to the group. After some swimming, cliff jumping, waterfall sightseeing, and climbing, we wrapped the day with some delicious food. Definitely do not miss out on seeing Utuado, and especially not this tour with Yamile!

This was the highlight of our trip! Yamile was a fantastic guide, she treats everyone like family and keeps you engaged and safe. Her knowledge of the island and its history and culture are extraordinary. The canyon, waterfall and the rock cravings with the mountains in the background are breathtaking. If you are looking for an adventure this is the tour for you. We came last year and did a tour with Yamile and booked two this trip. No need for a camera she takes wonderful videos and pictures and airdrops them while you are having lunch. Thank you again Yamile for a great day.

We went for the Utuado Canyon tour with Yamile. It was the best tour I have ever had. Yamile was very kind, knowledgeable and kept our safety at the highest priority. We learnt a lot about PR history and also enjoyed the nature side of the tour. I would highly recommend the Utuado Canyon tour with Yamile.

The trip to Utuado Canyon was amazing and Yamile was a fantastic guide. We all had a great time, even though we started in the rain! The trip is strenuous, as it involves a lot of up and down over slippery, wet rocks, but the distances are short. We would definitely book with Yamile again for her tours.

What an amazing experience. So much beauty all around. This is the second tour we do with Yamile and it was another wonderful day. We had 4 teenage boys in our crew and this was one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend Puerto Rico as a Local and this tour!

Yamile is truly a gem. She is very knowledgeable about Puerto Rican history and very passionate about what she does. This is our second time visiting PR and since we had such an amazing time with Yamile during our last visit we decided to book her tour again. Don't pass this tour or any of her other tours up! My husband and I had an amazing time on this tour. Our tour guide Yamile was so passionate about the island. She was a one woman show and dealt with the bookings, driving and tour sites. We got to experience the canyons which was my main reason for going. I was obsessed with learning about the Tainos and the petroglyphs. While on the trip she also made sure to capture pictures for us. We also got to see some hidden waterfalls and holy cow what a sight. There was no way we would have found that beautiful waterfall all on our own. Yamile knows her island and is able to show you everything so you can experience it just as a local. I would recommend her to anyone looking to have fun on this island.

Yemile was an outstanding guide -and I have been on many tours and am very picky. She has an incredible depth of knowledge of all aspects of Puerto Rico, is extremely skilful in sharing history and culture. She combines that with humor, efficiency organization. She has solid outdoors skills that keep her clients both safe and entertained. On top of that she knows how to facilitate connection between her guests and generate a rewarding group experience. Oh and she even takes personalized photos and videos that she provides afterwards. She is a one-woman business and a native of Puerto Rico and it was a pleasure to be on her tour.

This tour is worthy of the 5 star reviews! It was an incredible day. It included some short hikes, swimming in the canyon and the amazing waterfall. Yamille is a fantastic guide and resource. We learned so much about the area and Puerto Rico from her. My two adult children couldn't stop talking about the experience and were grateful for the opportunity to participate in such a unique activity! 100% recommend this tour!

Yamile is a fantastic tour guide and person-like a cousin now. She is a warm, funny, and full of knowledge…we truly enjoyed her! She is proud of her beautiful country and really enriched our visit. Small tour size is a plus. Utuado is like a small slot canyon in some areas with beautiful rocks. Petroglyphs were special to see. Lunch was authentic and yummy. Yamiles pictures and videos were a huge bonus! Gracias prima y espero verte pronto! We hope to bring the kids too!

Yamile was great and very professional. Communication was great but most importantly Utaudo was wonderful it was a very spiritual experience and I would recommend this trip and others through this company.

Gorgeous scenery and super fun rocks to climb and rivers to traverse. The locations are remote- you cannot access them yourself. Yamile is a marvelous guide. We are an athletic family of four (teens ages 13 & 15) and loved this trip. Do heed Yamile’s warnings- lots of bouldering and slippery rocks. A highlight of our Puerto Rico adventure.

This adventure certainly did not disappoint! Yamile is a wonderful tour guide who knows the most beautiful off the beaten path areas of Puerto Rico. She is so good at what she does that this was the second tour we took with her. When we were planning this trip, we had so much fun a few years back on the first excursion with her that we planned this trip to Puerto Rico around Utuado Canyon and so happy we did. The scenery was gorgeous and the waterfall at the end was amazing and worth the effort! Yamile does all she can to ensure that you have a great, safe and fun day. Plus she takes the best pictures and lots of them. Although you will be tired at the end after a full day of strenuous adventure, this is an excursion you won't regret booking!

Utado canyon is a breathtaking natural marvel! This tour is not offered by many other tour companies. Yamille, the owner and operator of Puerto Rico as a local not only provides a very unique tour, but also provides excellent customer service with a personal touch. Overall value, an adrenaline packed day, and beautiful pictures are the norm with Yamille. This was not our first tour with Yamille, but it was our third and we highly recommend her for a truly magical experience!

This tour was an AMAZING experience! Yamile is an incredible tour guide that brings a tremendous amount of local knowledge, fun, and energy to the experience. I have visited National Parks all over the USA, as well as tours, and this experience ranks in my top 5. Canon Blanco is a beautiful area that contains hiking and swimming hole experiences that are second to none. However, it's not a place to visit without an experienced guide. Yamile took us to places (i.e. waterfalls, petroglyphs, etc.) that we would never have safely found ourselves. The water during our experience was a little murky and slightly rough after 2-3 days of rain but we felt safe having a guide that knows the terrain and the lay of the land. We were able to focus on having a good time knowing that Yamile had our backs all the time. Yamile is a travel professional that focuses on every detail (i.e. safe ride, super clean van, safety, fun, travel tips). You cannot go wrong with this tour. I look forward to trying other adventures with this company when we return.

Everything about this tour was amazing! Yamile was the best guide I could ever have asked for. Not only was she sweet but she was funny and gave us a great history of Puerto Rico. I felt safe the entire time. All parts of the tour offered something different but all were amazing! The canyon is breathtaking and she knew the best spots for pictures and views. I highly recommend this tour and want to come back to do another one with Yamile bc she is the best!!!

Yamile is an excellent host/guide/human being, kept us super safe without limiting our ability to explore her "backyard"! The day was amazing, filled with physical challenge, stunning scenery, important history and cultural information that made the trip interesting and fun beyond the natural beauty. My boys (ages 10 and 12) experienced something different than anything they've ever seen before. We left truly feeling like part of the "family" and have memories we'll treasure forever!

It's a great experience and was unlike anything I've done before. The rock formations and carvings are super unique, and the waterfalls were gorgeous. Your guide Yamile knows basically everything about Puerto Rican history and culture, and is more than happy to answer every question you might have.

The Utuado Canyon was unlike anything I have seen before. I’m big into geology, culture, and I like a little adventure - this tour did not disappoint. Yamile, the tour guide, was welcoming, informative, and great as far as getting us where we needed to go safely. She made us feel like a little family as ventured out into the canyon. As far as the actual tour, we saw several parts of the canyon, via some moderately difficult hiking and river trekking. The scenery was absolutely amazing. We also saw some of the Taíno people’s petroglyphs and an amazing waterfall. Yamile was informative and talked about the history of the Taíno people and Puerto Rico. Also, Yamile took a ton of photos and videos, which she shared with us at the end. This was a really nice touch and I appreciated that we were able to get a lot of fantastic photos of our trip. If you like adventure and natural beauty, this tour is a definite must!!!

This tour was absolutely amazing and the scenery breathtaking. Yamile was a fantastic guide and the experience was unforgettable. FYI, this tour is 8/10 difficulty - so, if you enjoy difficult terrain, rock climbing, and adventure, this tour is for you!

Yanile is a fantastic tour guide and we recommend the experience to new visitors, seasoned visitors and even locals. She knows the spots. She keeps the challenge level interesting and appropriate and most importantly kept us safe. She made us feel like family.

I can't say ENOUGH about this amazing adventure! We were in PR for the week of Christmas and booked 2 tours with Yamile and both were incredible, but this one was our favorite! Things to know: -You DO need to invest in good sturdy water/hiking shoes, ours were from Amazon and worked great! -This is a challenging & adventurous trip! Be prepared to push your limits! -It's a long day but the BEST DAY! Van ride is twisty and steep but always felt safe -Take a waterproof FLOATING pouch on your camera, I had one on my camera but not a floater, so I sadly lost my phone in the current...but Yamile was fantastic at taking pics so I had plenty from the day that she shared with us later. It is well worth the $$$ Yamile makes the whole group feel important, safe and you will see things that you would never be able to see or find on your own in PR! I would book 10000 more tours with her if we ever go back to PR!

Yamile was incredible! This entire experience was beautiful, informative, and just challenging enough to be interesting the entire way through. Yamile had so much information to share and took us to some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. You do need to have a certain amount of strength, (courage), and coordination to complete the hikes. The petroglyphs were so cool and the waterfall excursion did not disappoint! Make sure you wear good hiking shoes and follow the instructions for the gear you need. Yamile takes great photos to commemorate the trip as well.

This has been favorite activity in PR so far. Really beautiful place, love the spectacular rock formations and an unexpected waterfall. Our tour guide was amazing and full of knowledge. Yamile knows PR better than any person or tour guide we have met on this trip. We spent a full day with her and her passion for the Island is evident when you here her talking about the Taino. She took us to several different parts of the canyon and exploring this area brought me closer to my heritage, it was very physically challenging but so very fun. I plan on coming back and booking several other tours with her so I can really see explore the island with a true local.

When I first discovered this adventure, it called to me deeply and I knew that I had to go. It is difficult to put into words how special Utuado is…healing, peaceful, playful, challenging, breathtaking, and sacred Yamille is YOUR guide! Yamille is an incredible person and knowledgeable guide who packed our day full of amazing experiences. During the drive we had great conversations getting to know everyone, learning about Puerto Rican history and culture, food, and more…little did we know we were extended our family that day! This is a challenging hike and swim through a part of Canon Blanco, to see the Petroglyphs, and waterfall. Please prepare ahead of time using Yamille’s instructions to make sure you are wearing the right stuff, especially footwear. If you bring your phone, get a good water proof pouch, otherwise Yamille will take good pictures of you during your adventures in Utuado. If you are not very experiences in basic climbing with hiking, she gives good instructions and this will aid you in other excursions. She has been the only guide who told us precisely where and how to step, reminding us to constantly tap the sand off our shoes for better grip, how to take our time climbing through the canyon, reaching for the right holds and looking for the right footholds, and using our butts to scoot when needed. Sadly, we did see a small section of the canyon that was defaced, painted as if to look like a rubics cube. Not cool! Yamille and the family that lives close to the Petroglyphs do ask for respect for Utuado. Take it’s amazing memories and leave only footprints in this beautiful place.

Jamile is an awesome guide and Big Happy Family is her motto and it shows. I had booked it last minute and Jamile made sure that I am comfortable with the amount of activity required with this trip. It is a physically demanding tour - climbing up and down of the river side, travelling where there aren't defined trails and swimming against the current to discover hidden gems. So please keep in mind when picking this up. Its a small group tour so it makes it a good closed knit bonding with having fun and enjoying the tour.

I did this tour with my boyfriend and this was the highlight of our trip! We had an amazing adventure and could not believe how great Yamile was. Yamile was extremely detailed and knowledgeable about Puerto Rican culture. I also appreciated the small group experience; it allowed us to have a peaceful and safe hike.

This was the best adventure tour my husband and I had on our trip. The views of the hike were just beautiful. The rivers had lots of fascinating fishes. Yamile was a wonderful guide and took us to one of her favorite restaurants in Utuado. The food was great. There is a good amount of rock climbing in water shoes. You will have to be in decent shape and must enjoy nature. My husband and I give this tour an A+ for the overall experience.

This was an Amazing Adventure with a lot of surprise Scenic experiences. Our fave was the hidden Waterfall! We Loved our host/tour guide Yamile! She was a lot of Fun! We can't wait to Visit PR again and book another tour!
