Scenic Horseback Riding Tour From San Juan

First off, our guide, Angel, was very sweet and knowledgeable about horses and made the ride very easy to get used to and learn about. He was also very funny! Please wear long pants like the description suggests, because we saw some people with shorts get over 50 bug bites on their legs! Also, the ride is 2 hours long including instruction time, not 3.5 like the description suggests--but fun nonetheless. A hiccup we had is the pickup time. We scheduled a departure location through TripAdvisor but recieved no information about what time the pickup was or if someone was coming for us at all. I sent a message asking the day before to confirm, but there was no response from the operator. I instead woke up at 6 am the day of to call the operator, and they stated that our information wasn't sent through accurately but promptly scheduled the pickup for 7:50. Overall, I'm very happy they managed to find a solution to our problem, but it was inconvenient not having the information before. The experience was great otherwise and I'd highly recommend it, just make sure you have your pickup information figured out!

This was such a peaceful ride through the beautiful countryside of PR. Grace was my guide- she was not only super informative about riding and the surrounding nature, but she was also patient with me when I was resistant to trotting lol. She made sure the ride was what I wanted it to be. I had a great time and would recommend this to any nature/ animal lover visiting San Juan! Request Grace when you book!

Horseback riding is so cathartic. I rose Pixie for the tour. She is well trained and very responsive to directions. Our guide was great. He made sure to check with everyone as we went along. Make sure to get an empanada from the restaurant after your ride.

We had a nice time riding horses today. It was a very slow paced ride due in part to some inexperienced riders but it was an enjoyable morning. However, I will note that the actual riding of the horses was only 1-1/2 hours long once we all mounted the horses and left the stable area. It was 3 hours total but that included check-in and getting everyone in the group to the barn and saddled up.

Amazing. Picked up/drop from our hotel. Check in was a breeze. Grace is an amazing guide, we had a large group, but she worked well with us. She was even our photographer for a little… made our group experience amazing. Grace was very knowledgeable of native plants and so much more!!! Would recommend to everyone, when you arrive your a little in shock, but this is an amazing place, coordinated beautifully, we don’t feel like we were forgotten, we were the center of her world on that trail ride. Loved every minute of the 2 hours.

Beautiful farm with lots of animals. El Yunque visible in the distance. No beach riding. They also have ziplinines and ATV.

I got 3 messages before the trip advising that long pants, a hat, and sunscreen was required. This is not accurate. Many people had shorts on and you can’t wear a hat, as they require you to wear a helmet. I had specifically went and bought a long pair of pants for this activity, since it stated I would be denied with no refund if I didn’t have on long pants. I was expecting a scenic ride, but the trail around the farm and property had a lot of litter. There was an old broken toilet seat, takeout garbage, empty bottles and trash littered throughout. We even rode past the dump site. We saw a few animals, which was nice, but overall I wouldn’t have booked this if the description had been at all accurate.

My guide Ania was the absolute coolest, so knowledgeable, funny, patient, and shared her personal connections with the land, which made the trip so much more full and meaningful. I can’t emphasize how AMAZING Ania was, and Midnight was the best horse you could ask for :) I can’t thank y’all enough!

Wonderful experience, first time horseback riding and it was very enjoyable. Horses are gentle and great with new riders. I learned to trot so that was definitely a high light of the adventure. Highly recommend

It was a lovely experience and we had a really good time. You should wear a hat to keep the sun off you and also use sunscreen. My guide Grace was amazing and made the experience so much fun.

Lots of bugs, not much to see, not very informative., its regular horseback riding like on a ranch. Would not recommend for the price.

What a wonderful day we had horseback riding with Sun Rico Tours. Faviola (call me Favi) was our guide and she was simply amazing! We had the longer 2 hr ride and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The landscape is gorgeous, vast and lush. The horses are Paso Fino and they were such “good kids”. Favi took us all around the property and explained what different trees were and talked about the different animals they had. This is an incredible excursion and we most definitely will do again! It is a very easy ride for all levels of experience. Favi’s personality was upbeat and positive and she really added something special to this ride. Ask for her when you book this most excellent tour! Thank you Faviola!

Customer service is the worse part of it, they were supposed to let me know pickup time and I couldn’t do the activity because 1. They didn’t tell me the hour to be ready and 2. wouldn’t reply to my messages / emails / call to figure it out since the day prior.

This was such a fun experience. Grace was fantastic. It was a good time to see all of the views and the things that Campo Rico had.

The best time ever! Angel and Fabiola are great. The entire horse barn team was amazing. So very nice and welcoming. Helpful to those who needed it, and I think they loved that we knew how to ride. My daughter and I had a blast and hope to come back.

The horseback ride through Hacienda Campo Rico was really fun and interesting. Our guide Amanda was the best, she knew the personality of each horse and gave us all pointers on how to deal with their bad habits. She was very knowledgeable about the area and the tour was over before we knew it. Nice, leisurely ride through the property.

We very much enjoyed our horseback riding excursion. The horses were well trained and easy to ride. The open countryside scenery was a pleasure after a few a days in the city. We had a good two plus hours on the horses which felt like enough time to really enjoy ourselves. Our guide, Angel, did a good job of orienting and leading us. We had a group of 8 riders, so it was difficult for our guide to offer much commentary that could be heard by all, but he did point out some of the sights. A couple of things to note: We had a lost an hour of waiting between when we were told to arrive and when the tour began. We were directed to wait in a bar area with pounding music which was a lot first thing in the morning, especially since the surrounding area was relatively peaceful. In order to access the horses, we had to cross a paddock that was super slippery with mud and manure. Wear mud proof boots if you have them. Our sneakers were soaked. Lastly, the venue also offers ATV tours, so we were criss-crossing paths with the ATVs throughout the ride. Everyone was respectful, and the horses were not bothered by the ATVs, but it's a weird mix.

“OMG” this is a must do. Our tour guide Grace and Molly the horse was amazing. We had one of the best times of our lives. This was by far the best tour we had in Puerto Rico during our Vacation. The horses was well trained. The tour guide loved the horses and we saw how much they love her back. Just a wonderful experience we had. Thank you so much 😀🐎

I wasn’t happy that I was picked up so early only to get to the farm and have to wait an hour for the instructor. It was fun riding the horses and Isabelle was very friendly. The check in girl at the ranch was not welcoming and seemed annoyed that she had to get out of bed just to check us in. I did not appreciate her monotone greeting that made me feel like I was imposing on her time.

I am on vacation and typically weigh-in at about 235 but to my surprise I showed 246 on the scale and was denied the experience. I won’t even get into all the variable that make a person’s weight fluctuate but the entire thing was just crazy to me. I received a 50% refund on one of my tickets which was way better than nothing. My girlfriend had an amazing time so I just sacrificed the money for her happiness I suppose. For myself the person that paid it was terrible and embarrassing. I probably won’t use this site or the sub vendor for anything ever again. I actually was looking at activities today and completely shied away from anything that used viator. I could see if I was morbidly obese or way out of line in my weight estimation but I think 6 lbs deserves some consideration and at least a refund for the person who didn’t do the experience. Either way it is what it is and you got 75% of my money for 50% of the experience and a signifcantly impacted birthday celebration.

Really had a nice time, took the two hour ride with Grace. She helped make the ride lots of fun. I recommend this activity.

This experience was definitely worth it. It was a bit muddy and your shoes get dirty but the horses were well behaved and the trail was amazing. It was more of a relaxing ride and most the time we were sight seeing and riding the horse slowly. I would have loved to be able to run a bit with the horse but that could probably be dangerous if there is no previous horseback riding experience. Overall the weather was hot and the instructor was really nice.

Unfortunately I did not get a chance to ride. I was a few pounds over the weight limit. Don’t bother asking them about a refund they gone refer you over about the policy. Personally with a non refundable policy, it’s quite reasonable for them to be more lenient for those who are just a few pounds over to get a refund. Don’t take no chances with them!

Bring boots to the property. You will get your shoes muddy. Once you are on the horse you will have a great time with great guides who go above and beyond (one guide got my daughter a flower off the trail). They let us troot which was so fun. We had a great time.

The staff was so friendly and it was such an amazing experience. They let your trot which is literally so cool and they take pictures. Totally recommend.

A wonderful experience! The guides were very friendly and experienced. The horses were so sweet and very well trained and cared for. The property for the horse trail was beautiful and there were many other cute animals there. An animal lovers must do!

DO NOT use this company. They are all money hungry scammers. They are nice to you only until you pay for the service. My wife hurt herself, sprained her ankle terribly, we couldn’t make it to the horseback riding. They refused to refund our payment even though we had to cancel due to medical emergency. I supplied them all the proofs they requested and they still stole our money. Not one time they did not ask how my wife was doing.

What an experience. This is my second time going horseback riding. My first time was in Hawaii. This time in PR. The scenery and calmness of my horse (Charlie B) and the staff were second to none!

This was truly fun, my first time. The tour guide was sexy and had a nice accent. He made sure the group of comfortable and made the experience fun. Jeans and a loose T-shirt for the weather is recommended, spot by the bar and get food. I didn't because I was by myself but it did look great!

This was truly an amazing experience! We had the pleasure of having Isabel and another amazing guide (I forgot her name but she’s only been there 3 weeks and is a ball of fun!) They made sure we all felt safe and we enjoyed our time! Highly recommend!!

I took this tour with my 12 year old niece, and we had a great time. The guides gave us a brief introduction to riding, and the horses we rode all had great temperaments for novice riders. Hacienda Campo Rico was a great backdrop for the ride.

My 12 yr old son and I throroughly enjoyed this experience! Angel and another young lady were our guides and did an exceptional job throughout the whole experience. The horses were all so well behaved and the scenery was beautiful! They also have a bar set up where I can enjoy food/drinks after the experience. Our driver was at our lobby waiting for us at 7:35 am sharp and the mini van had excellent AC. My son and I plan on doing this again on our next trip to PR. we also saw many animals while exploring on horseback. It was truly amazing.

A really fun experience! The instructors were very nice & took their time. I recommend it to anyone that’s staying in Puerto Rico.

I’m 6’5 and weigh 230lbs and the limit is 240lbs to ride. They weighed me and said I weighed 248lbs, so I was unable to ride. They use an old manual scale that sits outside in the elements on top uneven concrete. Everyone in our group said the scale was off by 10-15lbs. They all made the weight still because they were smaller anyway so it didn’t matter. My group is prior military so we all didn’t ride, we leave no one behind. Just know If your pushing 230-240lbs you may not make it. The girl that weighed us was absolutely rude. She said she weighed 160lbs and got on the scale and it showed she even weighed more, so much for that “fact” check.

Pretty much on time, nice, informative, and sociable. Butt and thighs will be sore if not a regular rider lol summer is hoootttt

Don't do it. There were two weights listed in the description which has mysteriously disappeared since I had the audacity to request a refund. Those are ponies not horses…. I am 5’7 and I was taller than every “horse” there. Per our guide, “the horses that hold the heavier weight limit are reserved for the cruise ships.” I am someone that reads carefully and I don’t like to waste my money. If you think you are anywhere CLOSE to that weight limit (within 10 lbs) DONT book this. They weigh you with a helmet, water bottle, purse or bag…anything the pony carries. When I went to the operator about the discrepancy they said contact Viator. Viator says they will talk to the operator. Customer service is a disservice. Don’t bother they don’t care after they have your money.

Guide were great (Marjorie and Angel), and the horses were very well behaved and easy to manage. The views were beautiful. Some paths were muddy but not unmanageable. We definitely got some mud splashes, so be prepared for that. Tips if you're going: wear long pants, make sure you have sneakers or boots (closed toe), and know that they will weigh you to assign the right horse. Wear sunblock and sunglasses but don't bother with a hat cuz you'll have a helmet.

The staff were amazing, helpful, friendly and made sure I enjoyed my self while I was safe. Love horseback riding and this was unforgettable!

Not worth the time. Was listed as a 3 hr ride we got picked up at 8am waited an hr at a food/ bar that wasn’t open until our trail guid came to get us after 9am. Went to the horse barn did weigh ins then went through the safety rules and such. Got on our assigned horses which were extremely old hip bones and spine showing something that should be retired in a field. We walked around some fields and some water clearly this is someone’s back 40 property that we just did circles around didn’t see the scenic country side! Shared the trail with atvs! We were on horseback 1 hr. Back at my condo by 11:30 not worth the 155$ at all. The transportation service was the best part of this trip they were beyond friendly

First time riding and I was nervous at first, but staff was friendly and very helpful. Booking process was easy. Transportation to and from hotel was very nice considering we didn’t rent a car during our vacation. I enjoyed the experience.

Awesome experience. I literally laughed the whole time! If you've never ridden a horse and want to scratch it off your bucket list like we did, this is the place to go!

I traveled with my teenage daughter and we had a great time on this scenic trail. Her horse was a little unruly but overall went Had a great experience and have many great photos and memories.
