Nico was amazing! She was entertaining, knowledgeable about food, architecture and the history of Puerto Rico. This was the perfect kick off to a special, multi-generational family vacation!
Pablo the tour guide was amazing! The food was great and the stories/history was even better!
We had a great food tour with Gia. 4 stops with food & drinks at each. My friend booked this tour for us - and it was my first food tour, but it won't be my last!
Già made the trip memorable. Thank you
We had a great time with WikiPablo! He was incredibly knowledgeable and the food at each stop was fantastic.
A fantastic walking tour that aside from the wonderful food was full of history regarding Puerto Rico. It’s not a ton of walking but definitely bring comfy shoes, lots of hills and uneven terrain. Highly recommend this tour if you enjoy great food and history. Our tour guide was Nico and she was super knowledgeable and a wonderful guide. She accommodated dietary restrictions for another guest and was just super upbeat and friendly, a perfect tour guide.
Had a great time! Our host Elliott was full of history and was super friendly, so we learned a lot about PR and also got to try amazing food.
We had an amazing time touring Old San Juan! The food and drinks were amazing! Gia was lovely and so knowledgeable!
The Savor the Sunset: Old San Juan Walking Food Tour was one of the most interesting and enjoyable food tours we have ever experienced. Our Guide, Gia was very knowledgeable, totally engaging, and ready with answers to questions and suggestions to enhance our enjoyment during our stay on Puerto Rico. The tour started with island history that woven through it was the origin of the Puerto Rican food culture of today. We started in the historic Hotel El Convento, with Cod fritters and mojitos - both definitely a delicious start to the tour. We had time to savor the offering and were treated to an extensive and interesting history of rum and it's relationship with Puerto Rican life and culture. Moving on we stopped at Dos Lobos for some of the best empanadas I have ever experienced. They were accompanied by a tasty rum and gauva drink that was a perfect compliment to the baked empanads. Next stop was eaverdura where we enjoyed a shredded seasoned beef steak with garlic and onion, accompanied by rice and beans. A simple but delicious paring which was accompanied by a light cocktail prepared by Gia. Next we walked for a while, taking in the sights and getting a ground level view base on personal experience of some of the best bars and restaurants of old San Juan. We we treated a the histoty of the 500th anniversary plaza. Gia gave us the historic significance of the plaza and it's link to the food culture of Puerto Rico as well as insights that a casual observation would not have noticed. We past by a view of Castillo San Felipe del Morro on our way to a wonderful resturant in the Cuartel de Ballaja in Old San Juan whose nane I sadly did not record. We were treated to a delicious yuca mofongo. This was a perfect topping for the main course of the tour. Our final stop, also in the Cuartel de Ballaja, was Divinissimo Gelato where we enjoyed a Gelato. The choices included regular gelato and alcohol infused including wine and spirits based choices. This was the perfect end to an evening of wonderful food, drink, and cultural enlightenment. We cannot recommend this strongly enough to anyone who might be considering a food tour in Puerto Rico.
I highly recommend this tour. Lorna was our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable on the history, culture and food of Puerto Rico. Bring your appetite, you will not be disappointed. Thank you, Lorna for a great time!
The food was good and we learned a good deal about the culture and the history of San Juan. My teenage granchildren even enjoyed it and loved the food and drinks.
This was an amazing and informative tour! Our tour guide, Pablo, was extremely knowledgeable and did a wonderful job sharing the history, culture, and cuisine of Puerto Rico. The food choices were a wonderful reflection of authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, with an occasional modern twist. The chicken yucca mofongo with garlic sauce was absolutely amazing and definitely a highlight of the tour. I also appreciated that accommodations were made for food allergies and non-alcoholic preferences, which made the experience comfortable and enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to learn more about Puerto Rican culture while enjoying incredible food.
From the very first moment, Nico brought Old San Juan’s history to life. Her passion, energy, and depth of knowledge made every story feel vibrant and every street feel meaningful. I learned so much—far more than I expected—and each new detail helped me reconnect with Puerto Rico in a way I hadn’t experienced before. Although I was born on the island, my life has mostly followed the American, English‑speaking experience. This tour gave me the chance to rediscover the cultural richness I didn’t grow up immersed in, and it was genuinely moving. And the food—absolutely phenomenal. The four venues we visited were outstanding, each offering flavors and dishes I might never have encountered on my own. Nico set the tone from the beginning: warm, attentive, and incredibly thoughtful, especially when it came to accommodating dietary restrictions. Working in the food and beverage industry in Washington, DC—a city that takes its cuisine seriously—I was blown away by how intentional, curated, and authentic each stop felt. You could taste the pride and culture in every bite and sip. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough. If you want to truly experience Puerto Rico—its people, its flavors, its history—this is the perfect way to do it. It’s fun, immersive, and the kind of experience that stays with you long after it’s over.
Our hostess/guide was fantastic! The food was just ok. The person that I was with did not eat pork and the chicken options were not to his liking.
As a solo traveler, I had a fantastic time on this food tour. Lorna was an amazing guide—dynamic, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind. She made everyone feel welcome and even made sure we all had safe transportation to get back afterward. The food was absolutely delicious, and there was much more than I expected! My biggest tip is to have only a very light breakfast because you'll be eating a lot throughout the tour. If you want to experience authentic Puerto Rican food while learning about the history and culture of Old San Juan, I highly recommend this tour. It's definitely worth it!
There is a lot of walking. There is a lot of food, so pace yourself. The tasting are delicious. Be sure to indicate dietary restrictions.
This was a great experience. Lorna was our tour guide- she was very knowledgeable and shared a history of PR and the origins of the food we ate. It was so much food - too much but it was all delicious. Highly recommend to anyone that has never been to PR before and wants to learn about the local cuisine.
Not only did we learn about the food/drinks but we also learned about the culture and history of Puerto Rico. Lorna, our guide, was lovely and knowledgeable. Food was delicious- loved the local flavors.
Arrive hungry! Plenty of amazing food served. A few cocktails and a wealth of information about Puerto Rico and how it was colonized. Our guide, Lorna, was fabulous and gracious.
Lorna was great! So knowledgeable and accommodating. Amazing food and great information! Would definitely recommend!
Great experience extremely knowledgeable and learn a lot about Puerto Rico’s history. Food and drinks were delicious
Gia was amazing. She is very knowledgeable and prideful about Puerto Rico. I could not think about a more outstanding tour guide than Gia. The food, dinks, and scenery was out of this world. I highly recommend going here if your visiting old saint Juan!
Lorna was amazing! The food was so good and learning about the history was interesting. Definitely would recommend!
The food was delicious, and Lorna was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about everything she told us.
Great Experience with the Tour guide. Explained a lot of the history and culture of Puerto Rico, and the food was amazing.
Overall a nice time. Started raining in the end while eating a popcicle. A few food options. If you’re not a pork fan this isn’t for you.
Lorna was a friendly, fun, and extremely knowledgeable tour guide!!
Gia was an amazing tour guide. Her passion and love for her country made the food tour even more enjoyable. Some of the things we had were a watermelon margarita, pulled pork with rice and cilantro sauce, and a delicious coffee flan. It was a great time. Again, Gia was awesome. My boyfriend and I booked five different tours on this trip (ex: charco azul, el yunque) and this was by far our favorite and the best tour guide.
Incredible Tour!! Gia was our guide and she was delightful ! She had an incredible amount of knowledge being a native of PR. We had so many great food and drink options and we were SO FULL by the end! She was even kind enough to find me accommodations for being pescatarian at each location we visited. I loved walking through the streets of Old San Juan and learning about the culture and history, struggles and triumphs of the PuertoRicaños. Their rich and flavorful cuisine matches their rich and brave personalities !
Lorna was a great knowledgeable and engaged guide. Wonderful information on the history of San Juan and the Americas and of the history of food here. And all the food was delightful.
Lorna was an amazing tour guide. We had 4 delicious tastings and 3 tasty cocktails. We learned so much about Puerto Rico and Lornas love and passion shined through. PS When they say "come hungry" they mean it!
Gia, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable, entertaining and very engaging. The restaurants we visited were all local owned and more importantly, these were all places were you saw the locals sitting at the tables. The food was delicious and the drinks were even better - they were not shy about adding the alcohol. This was a great way to get acquainted with the city while enjoying local food and drinks.
Had a lovely time with our guide Ellliot, who was superb at smoothly handling our mixed group around the city to many great bites of food while also sprinkling in lots of knowledge about Puerto Rico along the way. He was able to easily accommodate our request for non alcoholic drinks at each stop that made us feel like we didn’t miss out on any of the experience. Also his passion for the local coffee was contagious! We’re now full converts to how great it is and will be bringing some home thanks to his suggestions on the best places to enjoy and purchase it. Thanks Elliot!
Great history tour with a little food and drink mixed in. Our host was lovely and worked so hard to make the experience memorable
Nico is an excellent host, providing history of the island. There is walking through Old Town and much food is served
Our guide Gia was great. Learned about history of the island and its cuisine while walking through beautiful streets. Left feeling full and enjoyed the various beverages, ending with the best Piña Colada I’ve ever had.
Our guide was Nico and she was wonderful! She was so knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor that made it enjoyable. There were 4 stops and more food than I could even eat! It was a great way to meet people and explore some of the nearby areas, while also learning the history of the town. It was a pricey, i my opinion, but I knew you are paying for the experience. The weather was perfect and the walking was nice after each meal we had. I would definitely recommend!
Lorna was the best and absolutely made the tour for us. She was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and overall a wonderful guide. The food experiences were delicious and everyone in the group left the last stop feeling happy and satisfied.
Save your appetite for the tour. Our tour guide Niko was energetic, shared the history of Puerto Rico with us and took us to places that had traditional PR drinks and meals that were outstanding.
Pablo was fantastic host! The tour was amazing and I would definitely do it again!

He clearly loves history and brought the history of San Juan to life. Everyone in our group agreed that Pablo absolutely MADE the experience. He is exceptional among guides. In all, I highly recommend this tour.
A good overview of Puerto Rican food with some history thrown in. Gia was very knowledgeable and friendly. A little pricey for what you get but I would recommend it.
