Great experience, last minute booking and had a great tour guide! Espresso martini was wonderful! Solo travelers I would say this is a good one to do

Since 1880, Ron del Barrilito has been made in the same way at Hacienda Santa Ana in Bayamón. This tour will take you back in time to show you how the world’s finest sipping rum has been made through the years. You’ll see the Hacienda’s several historical landmarks, including a beautifully preserved mansion and windmill dating all the way back to the early nineteenth century. You’ll learn about the Fernández family who created Ron del Barrilito. And, last but not least, you’ll get an in-depth walkthrough along the age-old process that makes Ron del Barrilito one of a kind.

Very Interesting experience. We had Valeria as our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable. I recommend this tour while visiting Bayamón-Puerto Rico.
As someone who was born and raised in Puerto Rico, I had been wanting to visit Hacienda Santa Ana and experience the Ron del Barrilito tour for a long time. I've enjoyed many tasting experiences during my travels—including coffee, wine, tequila, aguardiente, and other local spirits—so it only felt right to finally experience one of Puerto Rico's most iconic rums. The full tour with the rum tasting is about $80 per person, which I initially thought was expensive. After taking it, I can honestly say it was worth it. The tour is informative and well organized, and you learn about the history of Ron del Barrilito, the family behind it, the beautiful historic hacienda, and the rum-making process. The facilities are gorgeous, well maintained, and the rum itself is clearly a high-quality product. The reason I'm giving four instead of five stars is the customer service. Before the tour, I ordered a small appetizer because I was about to do a rum tasting on an empty stomach. As a solo traveler, I expected to feel welcomed, but unfortunately, I didn't. The bartender, Jesús, came across as dismissive and unfriendly. While I appreciated that he wanted to let me know the appetizer was a generous portion, the way he communicated it made me feel like serving me was an inconvenience rather than a pleasure. After the tour, I had the opportunity to interact with another bartender, Yamil, and the experience was completely different. He was warm, friendly, engaging, and genuinely made me feel welcome. He embodied the kind of hospitality I expected from such a prestigious brand. I also felt that the employee at the admission counter could have been more welcoming. When you're paying for a premium experience, the customer service should match the quality of the product from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. Overall, I still highly recommend the tour. It's a wonderful way to learn about one of Puerto Rico's oldest and most respected rum brands, and the setting is absolutely beautiful. With more consistent, hospitality-focused customer service, this experience would easily deserve five stars.
This was a great tour. We chose the Heritage tour. The tour came with a drink before the tour, and the bartenders were amazing. The tour guide was great. We had a few more drinks and some snacks after the tour as well. I highly recommend a tour.
The guide for the tour was very informative and helpful. The bartenders were great.
The tour was so informative and interesting! I loved learning how much went into making rum and I had no idea how much went into it! It is an amazing process and our tour guide was wonderful. I highly recommend taking a tour through this peurto Rican owned rum company who truly takes so much pride in their process❤️ and of course, we had to take about $200 worth of rum back home with us!
The grounds are beautiful. This is an interesting and fun tour of the grounds and Rick houses with a tasting at the end. We were happy to have gone. This is relatively short, so you can fit the tour into an already busy day.
Not sure I was on a "skip the line" tour, but we did the heritage tour, which was great--covered our interests in local culture, craft brewing & distilling, history, and artisan cocktails. I hesitate to promote this too much, because I'd hate to have it ruined. Lovely tasting bar with nice cocktail menu(too many choice!) and amazing rum! I mean, I'm usually a scotch drinker, but in PR, I'll make an exception!
Family owned for 7 generations. Tour was great!
Marjorie, the tour guide, was excellent. Our included drink was delicious. We enjoyed the smaller more intimate feel than the tour offered at Casa Bacardi. Would definitely recommend.
The bartender at our resort recommended that we check out this small rum distillery and take the tour. We are so glad we did. The grounds are beautiful, their process of making rum is fascinating, and the tasting portion of the tour was such an education. We did the “other” rum distillery in town the next day, but there is no comparison . Sometimes, smaller is SO MUCH BETTER.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the delicious free drink that came with the tour!! Highly recommend!!
We did both the Barcardi and Ron del Barrilito tours. This one was more intimate and you get to see more of the facilities and historical house up close in person. Would recommend if you have time to visit both for different and unique experiences.
Interesting tour of the grounds. Nice location and staff. Great cocktails as well. Definitely worth a visit!
We absolutely loved the tour with Dennis. He understood the history of the place and time. We saw the family hacienda, cask storage, bottling and more. I highly recommend going for this tour.
Very fun and interesting tour. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and engaging. Our drinks were so delicious! Really great space to have drinks and talented bartender. We had a great time!
We made a last-minute decision to join the last tour of the day and were so glad we did! The staff at the distillery were very gracious and we were able to arrive, relax and even enjoy a cocktail from the bar before starting. The tour group size was ideal and the property was charming. It was so interesting to hear the stories of how it all began with the little barrel of rum! Our tour guide Rogelio was quite animated and excited about all the interesting stories of the company's past and eager to shart with us one of the four storage warehouses with thousands of barrels of rum dating back to 1952 (the oldest). Sampling the rum and purchasing some to take home topped off the evening.
Great place to visit with amazing rum! The tour guide, bartenders, and all staff were very friendly!
Marjorie our tour guide was very enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable. What made this tour good is that it felt very personable, rustic, and familiar. We did not have to do a lot of walking and it was a good mix of history, family lore, and rum!
My wife and I took an Uber from the cruise ship port and enjoyed the personalized tour versus joining the cattle call of large cruise ship group. It was very relaxing and enjoyable to learn about the rum making process.
Coral was great! Very informative and energetic. The grounds of the rum distillery are beautiful and our complementary drink was delicious!!
Amazing afternoon at the Barrilito Distillery. The property is such a peaceful oasis. The history and the traditions are impressive to hear about. I toured there years ago before the official visitor’s center opened and was able to interact with the family rum makers. The tour is guided now, much more structured but also more interactive, however retains all of its authenticity. Our tour guide Valeria was very knowledgeable, a great person to get to know and a wonderful ambassador to the Distillery.
Rating a 5 for the Best Pina Coloda EVER - best cocktail EVER - at the bar. You get 1 token for 1 free drink. Get the Pina Colada! If you want to sample their rums, go on the other tours. Coco was our guide - lovely. Wish the gift shop sold smaller bottles of their rum. Opt for this tour over corpirate Bacardi - support local!
The Ron del Barrilito tour was a fantastic experience. The place is absolutely pristine and, unlike many other attractions, it wasn’t packed with crowds, making it all the more enjoyable. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the distillery. It’s the oldest rum in Puerto Rico. It is truly impressive to walk past rows of barrels that had dates from decades ago. The tasting was a great experience. We got to sample 4 different rums and get a better understanding of each one. We also received a token valid for a specialty drink or cocktail afterward. Just a heads-up: the drinks are strong, so make sure you’ve eaten beforehand! All in all, a well-paced, informative, and enjoyable experience. Would 100% recommend if you’re in the area, or even if you’re not. Totally worth the trip.
Wow! What a great experience! Our tour guide, Marjorie was super knowledgeable, engaging, and made our tour both fun and informative. Aged in Spanish sherry casks, Ron del Barilito is to rum what hand crafted Sonoma county wine is to Gallo. An elevated experience that made me realize that I’d never really experienced rum before. We will only drink RDB from now on! Que rico ron de Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
A lot of historial information relayed in a friendly and relaxed format. Worth the price of entry. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered our questions. Would recommend to anyone.
Such a fun and informative tour! Marjorie is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic to share about the rum history, production and fun facts. We highly recommend!
This was the best tour of our vacation! We enjoyed hearing about the history. The smell of the barrels in storage was wonderful. The cocktails we were served were delicious. We have a new appreciation for this rum and will definitely recommend this tour to everyone.
First, excursion is 6 miles from cruise port. Taxi was $37 each way. Fifteen minutes reviewing two rooms in the owners original home. Another 15 minutes in the warehouse. You go inside visitor center and get one drink all for approx. $60. I would choose another excursion for the money.
I visited with family and we made wonderful memories. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, they did not skimp on the complimentary beverage (you get to choose from a wide variety of options), and the tour is thorough. The guide was very positive and answered questions quickly, fully and offered options. The place is quaint and worth the money invested for the visit. It is a much better value than the Bacardi Rum tour.
We had a great time on this tour of an old distillery. Some of the rums we tasted were over 25 years old and simply wonderful. Not for everyone but if you enjoy history and great rum, well worth the price!
This was a fantastic tour! When we arrived, we were each given a token for a free cocktail at the bar while we waited for our tour to begin. The drinks were delicious! It was just my husband and I at the time, so we got our tour guide Dennis all to ourselves. He was fantastic - great to chat with, super knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The facility was a lot smaller than I thought - really giving it a true mom and pop feel, which we loved. We learned so much about the history, the process of making rum, and how it all comes together. After the tour, we decided to stay for another cocktail. The bartender, Pedro was amazing. He asked what kind of cocktails we like and he made both my husband and I a custom drink. They were *amazing* and right up our alley. The gift shop is great, with lots of different options. Of course, we left with several bottles since there are much fewer limitations on bringing alcohol to the mainland US from PR.
Excellent place! Tour was great! Pina colada was amazing!! Beautiful scenery and kind staff! Highly recommend!!!
There isn't much to see but the old hacienda was interesting. The bar experience after was to notch.
Really enjoyed the Heritage Tour. I've been a fan of Ron del Barrilito 3* as a sipping rum for years, so it was a treat to visit the hacienda and factory and learn more about how it's produced. Our guide was engaging and knowledgeable, and it was interesting to walk through the historic Fernández family mansion, learn about the windmill, and go inside the factory building to see the bottling line and rickhouse stacked with aging barrels. The rum old fashioned I had at the bar was delicious, and I'm glad I replenished my home supply with a new bottle of the 3*. Definitely worth the 15 min Uber ride from OSJ to Bayamón!
We had a wonderful time. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and the grounds were very cool knowing hearing its history. Welcome drink was good and about 1/2 the portion of a regular or paid for drink but yummy nonetheless. It's a good and well priced tour that's gives great history about Barristilo Rum
Lovely grounds and fun hearing the history of the island and rum development. The empanadas were great and fun watching them make cocktails. Pina colada awesome. Well worth the money and time.
Great tour beautiful place and amazing drinks ! Got to learn some cool fact and see the oldest barrels !
Pedro, our guide, was knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The complementary cocktail with the tour was delicious.
Antonio makes incredible drinks and has amazing customer service. Might recruit him for parties in FL. Our tour guide, Valeria, was amazing too.
Amazing tour! Loved every second of it. Plus the free cocktails, Antonio the bartender is the best. I have never have such great cocktail till this guy Antonio made it. Omg. Amazing!!! FYI I'm not a drinker. Until Antonio. Thank you so much! He made our experience better.
I did the tour where you also get the class on making drinks with the rum. It was a great little experience. The room where you took the class was really nice. The equipment used was top notch and the drinks we made were really good!
We really enjoyed the tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable paced himself well through the house and distillery. The history of the company and the education of the rum making process was very cool. Getting the cocktail included makes the $40 per person quite reasonable. Hanging out in their cozy lounge afterwards enjoying more rum was a nice touch too.
This was an awesome tour. Our guide Valerie was excellent. She explained the history of Santa Ana house and history of the family. The tour was perfect in time and perfect for families with children under 18. I definitely recommend this tour. Also our bartender, Christian blended us great drinks and the gift shop has nice items you not want to miss out on.
Valeria was an awesome, enthusiastic tour guide! She was knowledgeable sharing lots of historical information. She answered all of our questions. The rum storage room was amazing! Seeing all the dates on the barrels was very interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed our complimentary cocktail prior to our tour. The mixologists are true experts. Part of the fun was watching him create the drinks! At the close of the tour we were able to sample the Coquito, boy was that GOOOOOD! The tour was scheduled for 30 minutes. It ran over time because there is so much information to impart. It was well worth the extra time!!! Our group was 4 of us who traveled together to attend. THe small group size was very much appreciated! We would recommend this tour!
We loved our tour- it was very fun to learn about the history of Rum in Puerto Rico, the history of the distillery, and the process of making rum. The cocktails were great too!
The bartenders were great to watch them prepare the drinks. The specialty cocktails were top notch, the tasting room was beautiful, and the tour enjoyable. Have already recommended this place to several people.
What a nice afternoon tour. Our guide was friendly and super knowledgeable. It was a leisurely tour and very interesting. The ticket price included a free cocktail. The grounds are beautiful.
Our tour guide Dennis was very knowledgeable, and took time to answer everybody’s questions. He explained how the distillery made their rum differently than other places. The welcome drink was very good, and watching the bartender formulate the drinks was entertaining. We thought there would be samples of the different products along the way, however, we were told that is a different tour.
Loved seeing the barrels and the old house. It was raining the entire time and they had umbrellas ready to go for us! I reccomend this tour because they are the oldest in the country.
