Private El Yunque Rainforest Day Tour With Transport

I really enjoyed the private tour and felt it was worth it. Myself, husband and our 2 teens and we all have different comfort levels of activity. Shaly was amazing and made sure the teens were engaged and did all of the fun things (rock slides, jumping off rocks and rope swing) she encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone but didn’t push and we didn’t have to deal with a group of others who may want to go slower or faster. It was a wonderful experience! There is a fairly easy hike to the first stop and you can chill there if others want to be more adventurous and wait for them.

Brian was amazing!!! Took this tour with my 7 year old and we felt confident and safe! Highly recommend!!

Brian was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the area. The private tour is a great option for those who don’t want to go in a big group. Our family loved the slides and the whole tour. He never rushed us and let us enjoy our surroundings.

This was one of the best excursions we had in many years of vacationing in the islands. The tour guide is typically what makes the difference in a good versus a bad experience. We initially searched for an excursion tour in PR with decent pricing in comparison to the resort we were staying at. However, we decided to do an early AM private tour to maximize our time in PR. It was the best decision we made. Shaly, our tour guide, communicated with us through text from the beginning. We loved that she was so personable and made the adventure so memorable. Every step was a detailed explanation of our environment and how to navigate through the obstacles with absolute confidence. Our conversations were also fun! The natural waterslide was a blast. Also, cliff diving and the rope swing was amazing. We were truly lucky that there was rain since there has been a drought. This was the topping in the “rainforest” experience. We then had a nice lunch at the restaurant kiosk with 60 food stalls. There was quite a selection of food to explore. The #38 restaurant was just as advertised and the fried cheese, fried red snapper, and mojito/pina coolatta was on point. Overall, we were happy with our decision. Shaly was by far one of the best tour guide we ever had. We’ll be recommending our friends and family to this tour company. Thank you again for an amazing time!!!!!!!

We booked a private tour of the El young gay rainforest because our cruise ship arrived and left at the wrong times to take a group tour, and the official ship tour looked too superficial. This was a smart choice. Our tour guide, Ricky, was personable and knowledgeable, discussing the history, fauna, and fora of the Forest, and pointing things out during our hike. Highly recommend setting up a tour through hidden excursions.

Absolute Perfection – Request Shaly! Our private tour with Shaly was hands down the best part of our entire trip to Puerto Rico! She was the absolute best tour guide ever—her deep knowledge of the rainforest was incredible, and she was so high-energy and completely tailored the day to us. Her smart strategy to get an early start totally saved our day; we beat the massive holiday crowds and had the stunning rock waterslides almost entirely to ourselves. Every single recommendation she gave us was spot on, and the coastal food truck experience she lined up afterward was amazing. If you are booking this experience, do yourself a huge favor and request Shaly!

This tour with Shaley was absolutely amazing! She was so friendly and showed us around the island. She was so thorough in explaining how to get through the slippery rocks and steep hills. When we got to the most difficult part of the climb, I personally started to chicken out, but Shaley have me the best and most needed pep talk so could get to the top for the rock slide. I HIGHLY recommend Shaley for this tour!

Mitchell was awesome!! He has so much positive energy and made the whole day so much fun!! He is so knowledgeable about the forest and PR…especially a great lunch at Grandma’s!! I would highly recommend Mitchell for your rain forest outing!!!

Carlos was amazing- so fun, knowledgeable and patient with our kids (12 and 8), especially helping our 8yo find the courage to do the waterslide and cliff jump.

This tour exceeded our expectations! Ricky was a thoughtful, courteous and knowledgeable guide. All the other tour guides told us that Ricky is the best and we agree! We took our 7 year old son and this tour was perfect for him. Ricky took time with him to teach about the rainforest. We slid down the waterside, jumped off the ledge and swung on the rope swim. This was our favorite activity of our vacation!

The highlight of our visit to Puerto Rico! Andrea, our guide, was outstanding. She set the tone for the day with her upbeat attitude and positive energy. Her knowledge of all things rainforest was quite impressive. Along our hike, she explained things clearly (watch out for pica-pica) and literally provided step-by-step directions on how to move safely through the river and over the various boulders. She was also a great photographer and cheerleader during water activities. And to top it all off, she took us to a wonderful place for lunch afterwards: Edelweiss in Luquillo, where we had the favorite meal of our entire visit to Puerto Rico. It was a great day, and we can't recommend Andrea highly enough!

Mitchell was the best guide so far and we’ve done this tour before. He was extremely knowledgeable, tailored the hike to our interest, and made it fun. He also took us to eat the best lobster on the island! My son said, this was the best way to greet the New Year!! Mil gracias, Mitchell.

Our trip was excellent! Our guide Andrea was so friendly and knowledgeable. This was definitely an active adventure and we loved it! So did our kids! It was so nice going with a small private group. We were able to jump, swing and slide into the cool rain forest pools as much as we liked. Great experience, amazing guide, highly recommend this tour!

Carlos was fantastic. He was knowledgeable and so helpful. He made you feel like family. I cant say enough about him. He made my whole family feel welcomed and his love for his job comes out in everything he did. Loved our time with him and this tour.

My family and I had an amazing safe time with Eduardo today. During the group we kept saying that we were the best group ever!! We really felt that we were with the best tour guide we witness not so nice behavior from other groups I highly recommend doing your research before booking any other tour than this one!!! Hoping to one day come back to do this tour.. best wishes to this tour group I hope they thrive!!

This was the BEST and most incredible experience for touring the El Yunque rainforest! Our tour guide Shaly was amazing!! She had such great energy and enthusiasm in addition to her knowledge of the rainforest and area. Her communication with us prior to picking us up from the cruise port was so great and made things so easy. We were traveling with our 3 children (ages 11, 15, and 17), and she was so personable and friendly on the way to and from and throughout the tour. Shaly made our hike so much fun, safe, and knew all the best places for taking pictures!! She even took the pics and videos for us so we could take it all in and enjoy the experience. Our kids loved it all, especially the water slide and rock jumping! Afterwards, she took us to a great spot to experience delicious and authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, another big highlight for us! HIGHLY recommend this private tour and our wonderful guide!!!

From the moment he picked us up, Brian was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the rainforest. He tailored the tour to our pace and interests, sharing fascinating facts about the flora, fauna, and history of El Yunque along the way. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and Brian made sure we got to explore hidden gems and photo-worthy spots we never would’ve found on our own. He also made us feel safe and well taken care of throughout the entire day. This tour was the highlight of our trip, and we can’t recommend it enough—especially with Brian as your guide! Thank you for such a memorable and magical experience!

This was the BEST part of our vacation! Mitchell was an AMAZING tour guide who not only showed us El Yunque’s rain forest, but also imbued our trip with so much compassion, encouragement, and adventure. It felt much more than a tour — it was really an unforgettable experience with my family that I’ll cherish and that I couldn’t have made possible without our tour guide’s commitment. I was nervous beforehand: we only had a 6.5 hour window to complete the tour to make it back aboard the cruise ship. Plus, I had four kids with me: 3 15-year-old boys (my twins and a friend’s son) and my 11-year-old daughter. But I didn’t need to worry! On pickup, Mitchell let us choose from several options. We wanted to see waterfalls and we wanted to swim, and we were willing to hike. He selected the route and it was challenging — but it was great to feel challenged and really connected to the forest around us. We made it to a place to swim and, surprisingly to me, Mitchell encouraged all of us to do the rock slide, to swim through a cave, and jump off cliffs. I’m not that adventurous — but our tour guide had gained our trust so we all felt encouraged to take (safe) risks. On the way back to the cruise port, we stopped at a restaurant Mitchell recommended (he called it Grandma’s) and it was delicious! The ribs, rice, chicken, beans, mangoes — excellent! Everyone on the tour — the kids, my husband, and me — agreed that it was by far the best part of our vacation. I would recommend this tour to anyone! It was so amazing to have a six-person tour. We each felt really seen and heard by our tour guide. At the next port, we took a tour with 20 other people and it just couldn’t compare to the day before. If you are looking for an incredible experience, book this tour! You won’t regret it!

11/10, would recommend. This was such a memorable experience for us on our first trip to Puerto Rico. Andrea is absolutely amazing, super knowledgeable and sweet, and went above and beyond to ensure we got the most out of our time together. From the water slides, to the rock jumping, to the rope swing, to the local cuisine, it was an all around immersive experience. Andrea was kind enough to be our personal photographer and graciously provided us with SO MANY pictures and videos that we will cherish for years to come. Had a great trip and tour guide Brian. The trials are muddy and slippery but Brian showed us how and here to walk to get the best out of it. Now matter how careful you are, most everyone slips and falls, so plan to get muddy and dress appropriately. Best part was the pool area formed at the base of one of the waterfalls. For more adventurous types, they have a rope swing and places to jump off the rocks 15 to 30 feet above the water . Lots of fauna and birds to see. You should be aware that following safety and tour guide instructions is very important - those who don't can (and do) get hurt.

We just got back from an incredible tour with Mitchell. We went to Mt Britton and climbed to the tower, then to Juan Diego Falls and then a fabulous lunch at the kiosks. Mitchell was extremely patient with our group as we were slower than some others but he made it enjoyable for all, even my 74 year old mom. Mitchell was fascinating to talk to sharing information on the history of the island as well as amazing details and information on the rainforest. If you are looking for a great tour this is the one for you!

This was one of the best excursion we had in Puerto Rico! Both my teens raved about it and said they wanted to return. Brian was great! He was very patient with us showing us exactly where to walk and climb. He took lots of photos with us, allowing us to enjoy our time sliding, jumping and swinging. Definitely a must do!

Private group tours are the only way we travel now. Yes, it's more expensive, but you'll have a better more memorable experience pretty much every time. Sacrifice expensive meals is you must. Off my soap box now, Mitchell was fantastic! He's friendly, local, humorous, and he has a broad knowledge on many topics that he's great at conversing about. He was very reassuring and supportive during the tour through the rain forest. Top shelf human.

I did the San Juan rainforest private tour and it was way above and beyond my expectations!! I booked it with short notice, but that was no problem for these guys. I quickly got a text telling me what to expect and when to be picked up. I was lucky enough to get Stephanie as my guide. She was very impressive from the start!! She text me and explained the safety concerns with the river and all of the recent rainfall. She told me exactly what to bring and had my pick up timed precisely(down to the minute!). She arrived exactly when she said she would. The transport vehicle was so nice I asked her if she borrowed the boss's SUV!! It was supposed to be an hour commute, but with Stephanie's enthusiastic personality and wealth of knowledge, it felt like a few minutes. She recommended to leave my back pack and phone in the car. I am so glad I listened to her because they would only be in the way. Stephanie took fantastic pictures of me and shared them to my phone at lunch. The trail was a little tricky but Stephanie told me where to walk and how to proceed. I did not have any problems. During the hike Stephanie pointed out plants and animals I would have missed for sure. It was great to be guided by someone who really knew her stuff!! The rainforest is so beautiful I wanted to get the most I could out of the experience, that is why I'm writing this review. If you want to plan a really great trip to the rainforest, go with this company!! (I hope you get Stephanie!!)

AMAZING tour! My family of 11 had Andres and Carlos transport and lead us through the rainforest. They were incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and fun. The natural water slides, rock jumps, and hike were unforgettable. We can’t wait to go back again. Thanks!!

The evening prior to our trip our guide Andrea confirmed all the details. She picked us up on time the day of our excursion. Our family of 4 (2 adults, 17 and 12 yo) had a blast! She was helpful and made suggestions to ensure we enjoyed the day. We loved the muddy hike and then summing, jumping, and sliding in the water. She took us to a great restaurant at Luquillo beach. We enjoyed our time with her and would highly recommend!

We had a very fun time with our guide Andres. This was more “active” than we thought, so if you do it be prepared to be climbing over rocks and sloshing through the mud. I was impressed Andres was able to help use get over some of the more challenging areas….without falling himself. Would definitely do again. Definitely an expensive excursion but also definitely worth it.

Andrea helped give my family the best excursion and experience we have had in Puerto Rico! Both of my kids raved about it and said it was their fav!!! Andrea was so accommodating to my entire family! She was so knowledgeable about the area and provided such cool information about the area! Definitely a must do!

They have unethical business practices that advertise “pick up from your accommodation” and within the 24 hour cancel period, they will text you that they do not pick up from certain locations. If they at least post “limited accommodation areas” on their advertising, it allows customers to plan better. Their false advertising did not allow me to cancel within 24 hours as they alert you of this the night before your tour starts…not enough time to cancel with their 24 hour rule, so they refuse to refund my money. DO NOT support businesses with false advertising as you only play into to their unethical business practices!

This was one of the best excursions we have ever done! Our guide Mitchel was absolutely amazing. He was very knowledgeable, and kept our safety a top priority. Our group was glad that we chose the small group tour because it made the experience so much more enjoyable and customized to what we wanted to do. Mitchel even took pictures and videos for us along the way. After the hike and playing in the waterfalls, we stopped at Grandmas for lunch. The food was excellent. Mitchel then returned us to the Old San Juan area so that we could walk back easily to the cruise port.

We had an amazing time on our adventure with Adriana. She was an excellent and patient guide who tailored the experience to us and taught us about rainforest plants and Puerto Rican culture along the way! Highly recommend this tour for couples or families who want to have a fun and active day in nature. Note that the pickup is at 8 am so that you can get an early start before the crowds start to arrive, and wear shoes with traction that can get wet for walking/swimming in the river.

Andrea was a great tour guide. She was very accommodating and provided us with great recommendations for our stay on the island. She knew the rainforest history very well and kept us ahead of the bigger groups! 10/10
