Private El Yunque Half-day Tour With Transport

This tour takes you to a completely different side of El Yunque, not the usual tourist way. You can leave your stuff in the car, everything you bring with you will get wet! If you plan to bring a phone, get waterproof case, but guides take great pix and videos for you, so you don’t need a phone. It’s a beautiful hike and a variety of water activities. Our guide, Javier (and Jr), were great, knew their stuff, made sure we had a fantastic experience and kept us safe at all times. Def would recommend this tour!

I cannot say enough amazing things about our private El Yunque tour with Tours Hacker and our guide, Javier. This was hands down one of the BEST experiences of our entire vacation and a day our family will never forget! We did it ALL — waterfalls, natural water slides, rope swings, beautiful scenery, and so many fun adventures along the way. But what really made the experience incredible was Javier. He was knowledgeable, patient, fun, attentive, and made the entire day feel completely personalized to our family. One of my favorite memories was watching Javier help my mom make it all the way to the waterfall! I honestly wasn't sure she would be able to do it, but he was so patient and encouraging with her and made sure she felt safe the entire way. Beeing with her there was such a special family moment and something I will always remember. Javier also knew exactly where to go, how to make the most of our time, and made the entire experience feel like an adventure with a friend rather than just another organized tour. We laughed, explored, challenged ourselves, and made some incredible family memories. It was my ten year's old first hike, and honestly without Javier it would not have been possible. She did amazing! We travel quite a bit and have done many tours and excursions, and this one truly stands out. Michael was such an excellent and interesting guide, I am very glad that we booked with them. He clearly cares deeply about the rainforest and the experience of his guests - I am happy we were able to see this beautiful environment through his eyes. This park can get crowded, and after an initial rounding of the corner and seeing so many people we were initially hit with ‘what have we done’ - as this is the experience we were not after. But Michael graciously navigated us through and we quickly forgot and almost appreciated the others around us. It’s clear that all the other guides knew and respected him and we couldn’t have selected a better guide. The private tour here is the best choice.

This was our first trip to Puerto Rico. I have two sons and we tried to see as much of the great Island as we possibly could. The trip we booked with Tours Hacker was the highlight of our trip. Our tour guides who also became our friends, Javier and his son were top notch! They made us feel like we knew each other for years with their hospitality, knowledge of the area, and their positive energy. It was the best day we had by far!

The tour was so fun and Michael was amazing!! More scrambling and climbing than anticipated, which was great for us, but something to keep in mind for older people. Michael was also very knowledgeable and shared fun facts about the rainforest, plants and reptiles. I recommend leaving any big jewelry at home because you will be using your hands to climb and your earrings might get stuck on the helmet when you're going down the water slides.

We so enjoyed our private tour with Adrian. He was knowledgeable about the area and very fun to explore with. The natural water slides were amazing and waterfalls were beautiful. The tour company was very easy to work with and the communication was great. We loved it.

I’m so glad we booked the smaller group tour (we had 6 total people vs’ groups of 20+ that we passed). We had an amazing and unique experience with this tour! From start to finish our guide Michael was professional and friendly. He was very knowledgable about the rainforest and pointed out interesting things along the hike. We were also given protective gear for the hike, which many other tours didn’t seem to have. Michael made sure that we all were safe at every point and even cheered us on to encourage big jumps off the cliffs! He took pics of everything and sent them to us so we could just enjoy and not need our phones. The whole trip was unbelievable, my teens had a blast, and although we are gettting older as parents we did conquer the tough climb up the rocks to slide down the falls (with Michael’s help of course)!

If you do any tour while in Puerto Rico, do this one! Our guide Michael, was absolutely hands-down the best we’ve ever had on any vacation. He was thoughtful, engaging, made sure he put safety first, and most of all allowed us to have a lot of fun. There were only four of us on this tour and with life vests on, we swam through caves and did some cliff jumping. We were able to stand in the water, so don’t worry. Transport was on time and easy, and the tour was well worth the price. It was an unforgettable experience that my two teen children, husband, and I will never forget.

This was a phenomenal experience. It was great especially bc it was a private group, in an air conditioned car picked us up right from the San Juan cruise port. The father and son duo of tour guides were knowledgeable and very professional and friendly. The son took all our pictures and videos on a nice camera so we didn’t need to carry a thing. We got to do the water slide, rope swing jump and cliff jumps. The hike was definitely not for the out of shape though, we did have some climbing and rocks were slippery in some areas so I wouldn’t recommend for elderly or disabled. I am not very fit and had to stop for quick breaks but it was worth the effort to get to the waterfall and slide. I highly recommend!

The tour was amazing the our guide, Michael Santiago was the absolute best. Charismatic, Funny, Had a lot of knowledge about the rainforest, Super sweet and helpful. It was a lot of fun and he got great pictures. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We just returned from the private tour El Yunque with Adrian. What a great fun good adrenaline experience my husband and I had! The rain forest, the river and activities spots are just amazing, and Adrian made it very safe and enjoyable and engaging. Appreciate, Adrian, your professionalism, such a great attitude and energy. We had an amazing experience. We are so grateful we were able to have a small group tour and we feel beyond blessed that our guide was Adrian. It was obvious from the start that Adrian was the best guide in all of Yunque. He was funny, personable, knowledgable about Yunque, and so tall. Way taller than Michael. Truly Adrian made our experience so special; he stopped to show us plants, lizards, and even summoned a special bird native to PR, we got to skip lines and do activities that were uniquely suited for us. Also, he takes the best pictures (it helps being tall).

Javier was an incredible tour guide for our visit to El Yunque with my sister, my mom, and me. He was prompt, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable throughout the entire experience. We loved learning about the rainforest plants and exploring the beautiful scenery. The rock climbing, natural water slides, and rope swings were all such a fun adventure! One thing we especially appreciated was how thoughtful Javier was — he encouraged us to leave our cameras behind so we wouldn’t have to worry about them getting wet or lost while enjoying the activities. Instead, he took tons of amazing photos for us and shared them afterward, which made the experience even more relaxing and memorable. To top it all off, he also stopped with us for a bite to eat at the end so we could try some delicious local cuisine. We truly had the best time and couldn’t recommend Javier enough!

Michael was a fantastic guide! His knowledge of and enthusiasm for the rainforest made for such a fun trip. I was not sure exactly what we were getting ourselves into with the ‘adventure’ part, but he guided us through perfectly! He also knows the birds and found a Puerto Rican Tody and hummingbird bird nest. Go in the afternoon. So fun!

Had a great time and much more activity than I expected but it was great and Arnel was a great guide. Made sure the group was taken care of throughout the experience took pictures and videos so we didn’t have to carry our phones and extra bags. Great experience all around.

I can honestly say you cannot visit Puerto Rico without doing this tour with Tour Hackers. It was truly the best of the best experience! Our host, Adrian, was absolutely amazing—super professional, knowledgeable, and made us feel safe at all times. From the moment we started, everything was well organized and you could tell safety was a top priority, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. What I loved the most is that it wasn’t just an adventure—it was also very educational. Adrian took the time to explain the culture, the vegetation, and the history of El Yunque, which made the tour feel so much more special and meaningful. Also, I personally don’t consider myself very “extreme,” and I was a little nervous at first—but I was able to do everything and felt completely comfortable the entire time. That says a lot about how well they guide you! If you’re thinking about booking—just do it. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and hands down one of the highlights of my trip. Hey Adtian. We just went on the best excursion ever!!! It was with your cousin and was Life changing! Hiking in the rain forest, going down a natural water slide, cliff jumping and swinging from a rope into the water was all amazing! We had a super fun group and our guide was awesome!!! He was funny and so positive that he even got me to cliff jump….and I’m afraid of heights! Best excursion ever!

Guiermo was such a gem. We entered the rainforest confident, hydrated, and mostly dry. Within 12 minutes, we were none of those things. The rain didn’t start—it was already there, waiting for us like, “Ah yes, fresh tourists.” The hike was short but dramatic. Every step felt like a trust exercise with the ground. At one point, I slipped so gracefully I’m pretty sure it counted as interpretive dance. My friends were very supportive (they laughed immediately). At the end of our trip Guiermo took us to this amazing restaurant where we were able to roast each other over amazing mojitos and realize that our guides name was, in fact, Michael.

Myrllam was phenomenal! Highly recommend booking with her. You can tell she enjoys what she does. She loved her home, nature and exploring with you. She is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, patient and kind. She is just a beautiful person that made this experience next level. I also recommend going early to avoid the crowds. Just toured today with Eli and Nini (spelling? Sorry). Good, clear communication the day prior and morning of. Hotel pick up in an air conditioned van. Smaller group of 11 which was nice. Early AM pick up was great because we got to beat the rush and traffic. Most of the groups were coming in as we were leaving. We were also one of the only groups that had helmets and life jackets which was a big part of why we chose this particular tour. There's definitely slippery rocks and some climbing/hoisting involved and it was nice to know we didn't have to worry about hitting our heads or falling. Did the rope swings, rock slide, and 20' cliff jump (but there were options for none, 4' or 15') and our group had some families with teens/kids so definitely doable. The guides took photos/videos and sent them to us afterwards and supplied chips and water so you really don't need to bring anything other than a towel and change of clothes that we kept in the van. Didn't need extra sunscreen, bug spray, etc due to it being earlier in the AM. Would definitely do again.

Felt very safe and comfortable the whole drive and in the rainforest! Very knowledgeable guide and made us feel safe to enjoy cliff jumping, rope swinging, and the natural waterslide! Would book again!

Peligro was a great tour guide! He was knowledgeable with high energy while also very conscientious of everyone’s safety. Would definitely recommend this tour in general and specifically with him. Pick up was on time and made transportation stress free (definitely worth the extra $$). Group size was perfect, with under 10 people. Only downside was that we weren’t allowed to bring phones on the hike (which is understandable and at least Peligro took a lot of group photos but I would’ve liked more of the nature). I also felt the requirement to wear a helmet at all times (even when just floating in the water) was unnecessary and unfortunate for the photos, but I get why it’s better to be safe rather than sorry.

Ely and Nini were the most amazing tour guides. They were so informative, fun, great and kept our whole group safe while having the best time!! We ranged from ages 4-16 and they accommodated all! Highly recommend!!

Eli and Nini showed us a great time! In about 2 hours on the trail, we hiked up the mountain, did the water slide, did the cliff jumping, did the rope swing, and hiked back down. Eli did a great job telling us about the local flora and some history. Everyone had a great time.

My family of 4 did the El Yunque tour with D today and had a great experience! He picked us up and dropped us off right at our hotel. We had a 10 and 13 year old with us and was fun for all ages. The hike was not easy but also not too hard, D was great guiding us through. The natural water slide was so much! We also did a cliff jump and rope swing. I recommend this small group private tour, was the highlight of our trip so far!

We can’t express enough how disappointed we were with our tour. We paid extra specifically for a customizable experience, yet our tour guide repeatedly refused to listen to our requests. As a result, we were unable to go shopping or experience any meaningful aspects of the local culture. In short, the tour fell far below our expectations and the service provided was unacceptable.

Our private rainforest tour with Adrian was absolutely unforgettable. Absolutely incredible time. Hiking through the rain forest, climbing the rocks, sliding down a rock waterslide, jumping off the cliff into the water, and swinging on a rope swing. Michael, a native to the rain forest was a knowledgeable and wonderful guide he helped our team through the difficult parts and even saved a person from another tour!

We had a blast on our tour! It was raining really hard, but it is a rainforest…. We didn’t get to do the rock slide as the water was to rough and rising, but still got to do the cliff jumping and rope swing. Safety was clearly a priority. Eli was amazing, knowledgeable, and funny! We loved it!

Michael is the best. He only does small groups, but my wife and I paid for four so we had a private tour. He knows when to go when it’s not too busy. I saw some pictures for other excursions doing the same thing with lots of people and lines. Michael also stopped to show us things along the hike. We saw birds, ferns, and large snails. He’s everything you hope for in a guide. Best excursion we’ve done so far in San Juan

We had a great time on our private tour in El Yunque! Our guide picked us up from our hotel and drove us into the rainforest. We did a short hike and then spent most of the time in a beautiful swimming hole - we did the rope swing, climbed up the rocks, and played under the waterfall. We felt very safe the entire time. Our guide was knowledgeable about the wildlife and plants around us. He pushed us to step outside of our comfort zones! He also took photos throughout our time together and shared them with us right away. Would recommend!

I typically pass on writing reviews but I had to this time! My husband and I are in Puerto Rico for our 31st anniversary and booked multiple tours. This is our 3rd and by far the best. Michael our guide was perfect for our group of 6. He was exceptional at teaching us about the flora and fauna of the rainforest. He lead us by way of the safest path on the walking/climbing portion of the hike. He discouraged bringing our own cameras for obvious reasons but took plenty of pictures both at our request and at sites he knows are memorable to get a photo. He encouraged us to participate in all the activities (ie natural water slide) but did not pressure us to. Again, can not say enough about this tour and Michael as a guide

This rainforest tour is a must! Michael was a fantastic tour guide - we climbed, jumped and saw the beauty of El Yunque. This tour is for those looking for a safe but thrill-seeking adventure! We also had lunch with the best tacos and mojitos in Puerto Rico - could not recommend Michael and this tour more!!
