Considered the receiving plaza of Old San Juan, Plaza Colon is the ideal location to meet your certified tour guide. The guide will be standing in front of the big white monument located at the center of the plaza. The guide will be wearing a blue shirt and red cap. The square is a few blocks north from the cruise port and the town's main parking garages. Ubers and taxis can drop you right in the plaza. On this plaza you will learn about the colonial history of Puerto Rico and the former defensive structures that used to stand steps away from the plaza.
This World Heritage Site is the biggest fortification built by Spain in the Americas! La Fortaleza has been the residence of the Governor's of Puerto Rico since the 1500's until our present times. Participants will have the opportunity to see its front facade and enjoy the exhibition hanging over the "umbrella street".

North America's narrowest house is found in Old San Juan. You will see it as part of this tour!
This is one of the most spectacular historic buildings in Old San Juan. It was originally built to house the treasury of the island and it is now the Department of State of Puerto Rico.
Plaza de Armas is the town's main square. Here you will see the City Hall and the former Palace of the treasury of Puerto Rico. Also you will enjoy beautiful sculptures of the four seasons and the statue of the legendary music composer Tite Curret Alonso.

Even though there was a heat advisory the day of the tour, Melanie looked out for us. Her passion for Puerto Rico, its history and culture really showed throughout the tour. The guide will explain the history of each place you’re visiting and he is very knowledgeable. It poured like crazy on the day we were there but still we had a great time soaking wet clothes and all. The guide had a very pleasant attitude despite all the bad weather. I’d say get there early if you want to explore downtown since after the tour I was tired to do anymore walking. I still wanted to explore more. If I tried to do this on my own, I’d never see half the stuff I did.

This tour is just FILLED with so much rich history about old San Juan, as well as seeing the beautiful parts of it. Thoroughly enjoyed Melanie as our tour guide. Our tour group was smaller so it was nice having a more personalized experience. Melanie was friendly and very knowledgeable for any questions asked. Some great sights we saw! I wish we took photos on top of San Cristóbal with the city view. You should book with Melanie, you will be in for treat!

Price very reasonable for the amount of time we spent with the guide. After reading others review before going, I was concerned about being able to tolerate the heat with all the walking but there was a nice constant breeze that made the heat and humidity very bearable.

This is strictly a walking tour. It requires you to be able to walk up inclines and uneven sidewalks. It is a very factual and cultural tour. Our tour guide Melanie was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She also was very mindful of our needs and walking pace.

We experienced so much hi The tour guide was first or The tour guide was from the onset was first of all arrived 15min prior to start time of the tour, as,my wife and I did. She,was very professional,. The highlights was the walking thru part of the city and getting detailed historical information about San Juan, the founders, the cobblestone streets and the architectural aspects of the buildings. She demonstrated a wealth of knowledge about her homeland, how it transitioned through various indifferent situations and remained vibrant. We highly recommend her as a tour guide and spokes person for San Juan. Lest I digress / forget. We n had about a 15min break overlooking the ocean as we sat adjacent to a casual restaurant!!!

This tour is not recommended for kids under 10, the tour guide was very hard to understand and his descriptions were not easy to follow. The tour started late, so we did not finish on time, and there was an advertised stop at the end for snacks that was not included.
This was AMAZING. So informative. You could feel her passion for the area and the history and most importantly the people who call Puerto Rico their home. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about the area. One of the best walking tours I've been on. Not rushed and comprehensive.
