My expectations were probably a little high going in. The views on top of the mountains were beautiful and the short hike( maybe 20 minutes) weren’t too bad either. You really don’t need swim or water shoes if you no plans to get in the river.

Louis was absolutely amazing. Was very patient with our group of 11. Very knowledgeable and kept us motivated throughout the hike. We enjoyed the experience 10 x more because of him. 10/10 would do again!
This tour was very interesting...Charles was a great guide and we learned a lot about Puerto Rico and the rainforest. The visitor center at the end of the trip was very nice and had a cafe if you want to buy a snack.
Not as described in the catalog. We expected more of a hiking and water adventure. Charles our guide accommodated our request for stop at water rapids.
We truly enjoyed this tour. Our guide Charles was very informative and super passionate which made the experience that much better.
First of all, our tour guide Charles was amazing. He made the trip perfect from beginning to end. We had a timely pick up from the hotel, and got dropped back off at the front door. The vehicle was clean and the entire ride there we discussed local history and he had so many fun facts. There wasn't a dull moment! The tour itself was just the right amount of walking, and the right amount of driving and sightseeing. Charles was extremely knowledgeable. The forest itself was beautiful and it was easily one of the best parts of my trip. I was there with my nephew, my mom, my brother, and my sons. We had people from the ages of 8 to 60-something, and it was easily navigated by all.
Charles was an exceptional guide and extremely informative on the forest and all the species and flowers in the rain forest. Very cool this is the only tropical rain forest in the National Forest system. And has more species than any other National Forest. Met some new friends from Pittsburgh. Great touring mates.
The entire l trip was great, even though it was pouring at some point. the tour guide- Charles made the whole trip very entertaining and unforgetable experience
We chose this excursion for a variety of reasons - hotel / accommodation transportation, small group sizes, and positive reviews - and we were not disappointed. We were greeted warmly and promptly by Charles in a spacious and comfortable van. We were surprised (and delighted) to see that there were only two other lovely women joining us for our excursion, making our group total only five! We benefited from the small, intimate group and special attention from Charles. We also greatly enjoyed the stops - observation tower, moderate nature walk / hike with scenic overlook, and waterfall. It was just the right amount of walking, riding and sight seeing. It was worth the price for the wonderful experience!
Great tour guide. Knowledgeable, thoughtful, nice. Loved the stops and didnt feel rushed. Perfect amount if time. Picked up at our hotel.
Charles, our guide, was wonderful! He was full of information and attentive to people's needs. He was very aware of the rhythm of visitors to the rainforest so we got to places without the crowds. Bravo!
This was our first trip to Puerto Rico and the rainforest is an absolute must! If you aren’t sure, change your mind and definitely go! Our tour guide, Charlie, was excellent. He told us useful information from the time we got in the van until he dropped us off for (his recommended) lunch spot (which was excellent) in Old San Juan. The scenery was amazing. The tour moved quickly enough that we never got bored and there were beautiful surprises along the way. Do not pass up the opportunity to go on this trip. It was only a half day tour, so we had plenty of time left for another adventure. We didn’t need to bring anything with us but comfortable walking shoes. There were bathroom breaks and opportunities to purchase food and drinks as needed. This is a tour that most people can enjoy, no experience necessary.
The guide was wonderful sharing the history and recommending places to eat. But most of the trip was driving from the city into the rainforest. We only spent about 30 min walking and the time in a visitor center. 1/2 day meant 3/4 of time in a van traveling.
Beautiful Rain Forest! Definitely, an experience worth checking out! The tour guide was awesome and very nice. You’ll learn a lot of history about Puerto Rico and its rain forest, which added a great touch to the overall experience.
Our tour guide Ramon was excellent. We learned so much about the nature and history of P. R. We had been to the visitor center already but it was so much better with a guide to help you understand what you were seeing. A great way to see Yunque whether young or old.
Easy ride to the jungle with a knowledgeable tour guide. Some walking in the gardens outside the information center. The information center is new and beautiful with a place for a snack.
Ramon was an excellent tour guide and driver. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Tour was paced well, not strenuous but interesting with beautiful views.
We had a great experience with Charles and Tina did a wonderful experience setting up our private tour. The itinerary and van were perfect for us
Hiking the nature trails. Being picked up and dropped off at our hotel was so convenient especially for senior citizens. Charles is very knowledgeable and I loved learning about Puerto Rico.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave an excellent experience. My wife and I went with other family members and everyone was very happy.
Great service from beginning to the end. Recommend to visit El Yunque, the view is amazing and it is less than an hour away from San Juan.
What really made the tour exceptional was the knowledge of the tour guide. He offered interesting facts that made the spectacular views even more memorable.
Tour Guide was friendly, view from the top of the tower was beautiful. there's an option to swim in the river at the end of the 3 stops, but besides that not much to worry about getting wet/ muddy/
Charles was an exceptional guide. He was early to pick us up. Provided us with the history of Puerto Rico on the way to the rainforest and more history on the rainforest during our tour. He was sweet, kind, respectful, friendly and informative. We can’t say enough about him. He made the 1/2 day tour a great experience despite the not so nice weather. Thank you!
Charles our tour guide was absolutely WONDERFUL!!! I highly reccomend booking this tour and any others he is available for. He was a wealth of knowledge was absolutely awesome through the entire trip. I loved it!
Charles was a great guide! He was on time to pick us up. And was a very knowledgeable guide! He gave us a little history on the way to the forest which was neat
Charles was wonderful. Fun and informative and made sure every member of the group got a great experience.
What a beautiful and informative excursion. Don't be hesitant to go on this adventure - the walk is mild even for those of us with a few aches and pains. Shared the 12 person van with people from Canada, Arizona and Oregon with Charles being the perfect guide. We were at the favorite photo ops before the big cruise buses arrived and got to see all God's glory without being surrounded by hundreds of people. Since it was a small group, we were able to ask questions (really didn't need many as Charles provided commentary) and actually hear his answers. This was a highlight from our cruise. Definitely recommended if you enjoy a walk in unspoiled nature.
This was a great tour. Our guide was Charles. Although the rainforest itself was amazing to see, the historical information Charles provided from the very time of getting into the vehicle was great. Our guide was very safety conscious both in and around the vehicle as well as while walking at several stop. The directions from Castillo Tours after making the reservations was very accurate and easy to understand. The @ 50 min ride from our meeting point in Old San Juan was very comfortable.
Thank you for the amazing trip to El Yunque Rainforest. Our group agrees that this was one of the most memorable stops on our cruise. We had a large group of 12, and half comprised of kids 12 and under. Your pickup was perfect, right off the boat and into you very nice and super clean van. Very educational on the ride there and back. Excellent stops for site seeing and the kids especially loved the last spot since they were able to swim. We returned to the ship with time to spare. Thanks for the tips, when we returned, about other things to check out and try before departing. Highly recommend this trip and again Thank You for such a wonderful memory!
We had the best tour guide! Charles was professional, personable and most of all very knowledgeable about all aspects of Puerto Rico and El Yunque. Our in town pickup was flawless and right on time. Our tour allowed us to see many vistas of the Northeast part of Puerto Rico in addition to El Yunque. The Rainforest tour was excellent, so much to see, and just the right amount of exercise. Thank you again, Charles for making our tour a memorable one and for making us feel safe during the drive there and back.
Charlie, our tour guide with Castillo tours was amazing. He not only showed us the beautiful El Yunque Rainforest, but gave us an excellent overview of Puerto Rico on the way there. He is passionate about Puerto Rico, and is willing to answer any and all questions you may have about this island paradise that is 185 miles long by 48 miles wide.
I loved El Yunque it was so beautiful and our tour guide driver Charles was exceptional he explained everything and made our tour a five star
Trip was a perfect blend of sight seeing and education about the area, nature, and the people. Ramon was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The tour included a very short easy hike that I would recommend for anyone able to climb a few flights of stairs comfortably. The observation tower is one of the most comfortable ones I’ve been in. Wide stairwells with open air windows to allow for breeze. Again, not difficult at all for anyone able to climb a few flights of stairs on their own. Would recommend!!
Our guide Ramon was very knowledgeable about the rain forest and the history of Puerto Rico. The highlight is the walk down to the swimming hole. Otherwise the remainder of the tour is just OK. We went to the lookout tower and had a photo opportunity at a waterfall. Overall a very crowded tourist spot.
El Yunque was really worth a visit. Charles, our guide, was so professional, friendly and on time. During our half-day excursion he gave us all the information, took us to a hike inside the forest and made us enjoy some breathtaking views.
As a group, we decided to do this excursion last minute. We booked it less than 24 hours in advance. We were assigned to Charles R., he was an amazing guide, knowledgeable, attentive, friendly, and patient with everyone in the group- 10/10. We were picked up on time, transportation was comfortable, and the views from El Yunke breathtaking.
Charles, our guide, was knowledgeable, engaging and fun! Highly recommend for hikers and novices alike.
Our tour guide was amazing. He was so knowledgeable and very kind. We stopped at some wonderful view points and took great pictures that will last a lifetime. This tour did include a hike that was listed as moderate. My mother(early 80s) and I(hip issues) opted not do this part of of tour. While our group was on the hike, we visited the gift shop and walked around some of the area until our group returned from the hike.
Excellent trip. Charles had an incredible knowledge of not only El Yunque but also PR as a whole. The drive into the rainforest was anything but boring — Charles filled the drive with lots of interesting facts and pointed out the different towns and the history of the land. On this trip you drive into the rainforest, stop at the observation tower, go on a hike, and stop by a river, with Charles actively giving facts along the way. It’s the perfect balance of activity and relaxation. The tours where you go straight to the water holes were not as appealing to us. You get the best of El Yunque on this tour!
Convenient pick-up from one of the listed locations. The ride and tour was engaging and fun with Charles. We enjoyed all the stops as well as the hike. Please bring your own water and snacks. Highly recommend visiting the rainforest!
Amazing views. It is worth the hike. Our tour guy Charles was very knowledgeable. One of my favorite times in Puerto Rico. Thanks again
Charles was a fabulous guide! A magic moment of stepping back in time to witness the wonders of nature! An excellent time! Wish we could have hiked longer.
What a great crew! They led us around the entire rain forest pointing out the various plants that were native and non native to the forest... we got a history lesson alongside learning the importance of the rainforest. We saw glimpses of the local people that lived near the rainforest...Safety was a priority with this group and with the 2 gentlemen that led us ...we never felt like we were visitors but rather were ''coming back".10 out of 10 experience for a NYer.
George was a great guide. He entertained us with local history and latest events in Puerto Rico. Very sensitive to ensure our safety on the trail and in regard to Covid guidelines. We really enjoyed the day.
Charles was awesome. We were picked up at the Marriott Sterrlis Casino in San Juan and on the drive, he shared a lot of history of Puerto Rico. We visited 2 waterfalls, climbed the overlook tower, and went for a wonderful hike. This was about a 4 hour adventure. Well worth it. Make sure you wear your sneakers and expect mud and a little bit of incline. You’ll enjoy your time with Charles. He’s informative, attentive and made sure to stop for many bio breaks.
Just the right amount of time. Not too long or short. Guide was fantastic. Knowledgeable and friendly. A good experience for our family.
This experience is one to remember! The surroundings are beautiful. The guides were WONDERFUL!!! Jessie was so fun to chat with and so supportive when I was afraid to do things. We all loved it no matter what our comfort zones were.
Charles was an amazing tour guide. He didn’t just give us a tour of the rainforest, he gave us a background on all things Puerto Rico as we drove to the rainforest, so we learned about everything as we drove by. His knowledge of El Yunque and his passion were beyond our expectation.
This was amazing...jose and noel were the best tour guides ever. The recommended restaurant during the day trip was superb. I would highly recommend this to everyone visiting puerto rico
