Our tour guide was exceptional! Very friendly and easy to talk to. He shared with us lots of information about the area and Taino history. I definitely recommend this adventure. Hopefully, I'll get to go on another tour with Tristan in the near future.

If you want an unforgettable Puerto Rico experience, I highly recommend visiting Utuado with Tranki Tours! Our guide, Tristan, was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the day truly special. We explored the incredible Caguana Ceremonial Park, learning about the rich Taíno history and culture. After an amazing hike, we enjoyed an authentic Puerto Rican dinner at Finca Remedio Farm, featuring delicious traditional dishes, guava cookies, cacao chocolate, fresh peanuts, and mint grown on the farm. We also toured their beautiful, exotic property, where they offer yoga retreats, massages, and unique wellness experiences. This was one of the highlights of our trip and a must-do for anyone visiting Puerto Rico. Five stars!
If you’re looking for an authentic experience that goes beyond the typical tourist attractions, I can’t recommend Tranki Tours enough! This tour gave us a much deeper appreciation for Puerto Rico’s indigenous Taíno roots through engaging stories, visits to historic Taíno grounds, and learning about the island’s rich history and culture. The adventure also included a beautiful hike and time in the river, which was incredibly refreshing—definitely bring closed-toe shoes for the river portion, as they’ll make the experience much more comfortable. We ended the day at the cutest off-grid farm, where we enjoyed an incredible home-cooked lunch made with fresh, local ingredients. We were also treated to homemade polvorones and rich homemade chocolate, with many of the ingredients grown right on the farm. It was the perfect ending to an already unforgettable day. A huge thank you to Tristan, who was an exceptional guide. His knowledge, passion, and genuine love for Puerto Rico made the experience even more meaningful. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and I would absolutely do it again!
We had a great time! The farm to table meal was delicious and fresh. The farm is beautiful. Swimming in the river was so refreshing, especially on a warm day. And learning about Taíno culture and history was perfect for our family to reconnect with our Indigenous roots. Gracias Tristan!
Truly a unique, captivating, fascinating experience. We learned a great deal of history and culture. It’s a one of a kind tour. Do it!
Very informative of the Taino culture. You will not only learn common knowledge that’s on the internet but extensive archeology finds and research they have down. The there a museum with artifacts and ceremonial grounds. Then we when to a charcoal with waterfall and cliffs. So beautiful! At the end you get to go to farm and eat a fresh organic meal. The farm has bnb structures that have unique architecture and stain class. The farm has a beautiful view of the mountains. The farm has cocoa, coconut, papaya, pineapple, and more
This was, without a doubt, one of the highlights of my time in Puerto Rico. If you’re looking to go beyond the beaches and truly understand the island, this tour is an incredible experience. Tristan is an exceptional guide, knowledgeable, passionate, and deeply committed to preserving and sharing the history of the Taíno people. You can tell this is something he genuinely cares about. We explored the heart of Puerto Rico, visited breathtaking natural places, learned about the indigenous history and culture, saw ancient petroglyphs, enjoyed a delicious farm-to-table meal, and experienced parts of the island I never would have discovered on my own. What made the day so special was the balance between history, nature, and storytelling. I left with a much deeper appreciation for Puerto Rico and its indigenous roots. Thank you, Tristan, for such a memorable day and for being so easy to talk with. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Puerto Rico who wants to experience the island in a meaningful and authentic way.
This place is great, my son and I learned a lot of history of the Tanio people of Puerto Rico. Also they are very accommodating, my legs are a little weak so walking was a bit of a hassle, so there were times I had to sit back and let my son go ahead of me and take pictures, the driver we got is excellent and very knowledgeable and will help out when needed, my son and I had a wonderful time.
This was an adventures tour and learning experience learned about my ancestors in the caguana ceremonial park went swimming in an awesome water hole got to jump off high boulders and see petroglyphs and then had a delicious meal at local farm overall great experience Tristan was an excellent guide very knowledgeable and friendly thanks buddy for the experience
We had a great experience with Trance Tours! We took the indigenous roots tour as we were interested in learning more about the Tainos (native peoples of Puerto Rico, our ancestors). The trip was beautiful full of amazing views and nice photo opportunities. We had a chance to visor the Caguana Ceremonial grounds in Utuado as well as walk in the footsteps of ancient taints along the river. We also saw unique petroglyphs and had a chance to jump off a large rock into the river (it was a lot of fun!). The farm we visited at the end of the tour was very relaxing, their owners were warm and welcoming. We got a chance to try wild fruit growing along the farm’s terrain and learned a lot regarding sustainable structure building as well as farming. We would love to go back and visit the farm for a soothing massage or interesting class; they offer some cool stuff to do. We felt that this tour gives you a complete, adventure that highlights the natural beauty of Puerto Rico while respecting its resources and unique history. We would recommend Trance tours to anyone looking for a safe, fun, and unforgettable experience in the heart of Puerto Rico.
I really enjoy the experience. It is interesting to visit the heritage site and visit a river hidden from the road. In addition, the farm to table restaurant has a very friendly host and prepared delicious food for us. She also showed us the adobo house she and her partner built and explained the technique of building the unique house. Overall a great experience
Tristan was an amazing guide. Very knowledgeable, funny, and easy to talk to. After a little while it just felt like we were hanging out with an old friend. Thank you showing us things we normally wouldn't have seen on this unique tour! Would definitely recommend!
My Mom and I were very lucky and had our own private tour. We got to see the country area of San Juan. We went to a self sustainable village where these homes were manually built. It was a round house in the woods made out of environmentally sustainable material. Need water, he had plants on the roof and gutters that would reuse the water. I'd enjoy coming back just to live in one of those places. I guess it's on airnb and the owner is a massage therapist. Imagine getting a message right next to the river. The other place we went to was a place that had indigenous museum. It was partly indoors and the rest was outdoors. You had stones outside with different pictures that was used as sundials. It was similar in some cases to the Myan ruins. They also had fields where certain sport games were played. Then just going on the freeway into the country side. The mountains were very breath taking. We had a great time. And we had the best ever tour guide. He texted us to the minute when he was coming. He was very flexible with our trip. While it was an all day trip, it was definitely a once in a life time activity. The only thing we didn't do was swim in the river. But that was okay, I have swam in other rivers in the Carribean. It's not like the your guide is able to control the rain. It rained throughout the day but at least then it was not too hot and humid. It was an overcast day. We have done a number of excursions before. Usually with the cruise line. But sometimes being on an island and not cruising, I appreciate when we have more time to see the sites. The tour guide even went out of his way and took care of breakfast and lunch. I like helping out small businesses when I can. I definitely will be coming back to San Juan. It is also very beneficial when a lot of the people on the island are bilingual. I know very limited Spanish.
This was a fantastic experience! I brought my mother on a trip to learn more about our Taino heritage and to experience more of the Puerto Rican culture - Tristan did not disappoint! Initially I was a bit nervous about the hiking portion and unsure if my mother could handle it - Tristan explained the entire route to me and even had other waterfall options for her. He was incredibly accommodating the entire day. It was incredible to see the Caguana Heritage Center/ archaeological site along with the really interesting sustainable farm. This was a 10/10 experience. Puerto Rico is full of so much beauty beyond the touristy areas - book this tour!
The best experience in PR!! Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn about PR & Tainos people while visiting outside of the touristy areas. Saw beautiful rainforest and water falls and visited the amazing permaculture farm :) Tristan is the best guide and clearly is passionate about this tour!!! He's flexible and customized the tour to our group while still getting to see everything! Food everywhere was AMAZING. Must do!
Our trip to Utuado was absolutely incredible and one of the highlights of our time in Puerto Rico! The experience had the perfect balance of history, adventure, and culture. We began at a Taino ceremonial ground, where our guide shared fascinating stories about the island’s indigenous heritage — it really brought the site to life. This is one of the few tours that offers such an in-depth look at Taino history, which made it feel especially unique and meaningful. From there, we cooled off in the river and even climbed a beautiful waterfall, which was both fun and exhilarating. Later, we visited a sustainable farm and learned how the community is preserving traditions while caring for the land — such an inspiring part of the day. What made the experience extra special was our guide, Tristan. Not only was he knowledgeable and welcoming, but he surprised us with a delicious local treat that made the day feel even more authentic and personal. On top of all that, Tristan is great photographer If you’re looking for an unforgettable way to connect with Puerto Rico’s culture, history, and natural beauty, this tour is a must-do!
This was an incredible experience from start to finish. Starting the day with strong Puerto Rican coffee was the perfect kick-off. The renovated museum was eye-opening—I walked away with a deeper understanding of Puerto Rico’s indigenous history and the significance of the archeological site. Visiting the sacred grounds was powerful, and swimming in the river was a refreshing highlight in a quiet, natural spot. Lunch was fresh and delicious, enjoyed in a peaceful setting, and exploring the off-grid farm and adobe homes was really impressive. What I appreciated most was how the day balanced learning, culture, nature, and food—it never felt rushed or forced. It was the kind of experience that leaves you with a lasting connection to the island. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for something meaningful and memorable in Puerto Rico.
We really got to chance to experience the life of a Taino. Tristan was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful during the tour!
It was a very rainy day when the trip was originally scheduled so rescheduled the day after hoping for better weather, Unfortunately it was still rainy but was leaving the next day and really wanted to explore the Taino Grounds. Tristán was able to make the trip work for us. We went to the ceremonial grounds and it felt very spiritual along with the added stories from Tristan and the other touring group. It was so amazing to see the petroglyphs in person! From there while it continued with heavy downpours we went deeper into the mountains. Passed by the many Rivers that were overflowing with water from the rainfall. Greeted by one of the amazing neighbors that told me “he just lives a simple life” but his knowledge of the rainfall just by looking at the water and the many plants around him seemed anything but simple i think he said he teaches in a close by university- amazing guy. Then we went to a hidden retreat with the most amazing view and served a delicious lunch! and we got to hear the rainfall onto the tin roof while we enjoyed the meal that was prepared by the host! They have four wonderful and protective dogs and two cute cats - very inviting and thankful for them sharing their view and home with us for a moment. Great experience and very different from other tours. Next time would love to dive into the rivers! Maybe you all can and hopefully enjoy it more than My kin and I did! Thanks Tristan. Many many thanks to you and everyone else we met during the trip!!
This tour is a lovely option to get out of San Juan for the day. It is a fun combination of activities learning about Taíno ancestral history, cooling off at a secluded waterfall, and eating a delicious lunch at a self-sustaining farm. The roads to get out to the ancestral grounds and farm were narrow and windy, so I was happy that I didn't have to drive them. Tristan was a great driver and tour guide as he shared local facts at a good pace along the way. Caguana was beautiful and peaceful with an interesting history. Onto the waterfall and river spot, we had it all to ourselves and the water was so refreshing on a hot day! It was also an interesting tour at the farm and amazing to hear how they got started and see all the hard work they've put into it. I had to catch a flight at the end of the tour, so Tristan was kind enough to accommodate having my drop-off location be at the San Juan airport. Thanks for the great tour!
This tour is amazing. First you go to the ceremonial grounds. Very cool. Then you go to an amazing swim spot. After that you go to the farm. The farm is awesome. Naldo and Alexa who run the farm are amazing. I have been on many tours with tour guide Tristian. He is an awesome tour guide. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I will do more tours with him on my return to Puerto Rico. I highly recommend booking your tours with tranki tours.
Tristan was the absolute best and very knowledgeable of the Taino history. I would highly recommend this tour. Tristan was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly charismatic, making the entire experience fun and engaging.
Tristan was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and taught us so much about Taino culture, living off the land, and what modern day cuisine is influenced from a rich past. Swimming in the river was absolutely refreshing and seeing the petroglyphs was a wonder. If you want to learn about Puerto Rican past and culture, enjoy swimming and food then this is the tour for you!!! 10 out of 10!!!
Tristan gave us an incredible tour with three unique stops. If you like history, culture, swimming, eating, or seeing natural beauty, you will enjoy this excursion! We never felt rushed or overwhelmed. Tristan and his friends Naldo and Alexa could not have been more accommodating and they taught us so much about Puerto Rican history and the land. And Tristan made sure to take lots of photos for us so we can remember the trip forever. I truly can’t think of a single thing that could be improved upon.
Tristan provided a truly unforgettable experience for us. The tour was the perfect mixture of everything we love- history, culture, physical activity, beautiful nature, social connection, and food! With Tristan, you not only get factual information about tour-related topics, but also an in-depth understanding of how these things came to be and how they are evident in present day. Tristan is very reliable and communicative- answering questions leading up to the tour about what to wear, timeline, etc. I highly recommend this tour for people who are seeking an off the beaten path experience with a highly skilled guide.
Hard to escape the crowds at this time of year in PR, but Tristan is an amazing guide and he made it happen. This tour offered an awesome mix of fun, beauty, relaxation, cultural history, great food, and great people!
Had a tour with Tristan and learned so much about Taino culture and sustainability. The parks and rivers were really nice to see and the lunch on the farm was delicious! What a great off the beaten path tour for those looking to get out of San Juan for a day!
Amazing and informative, amazing views and scenery. Had a wonderful time doing the small hike to get to the swimming hole. Overall it was great.
Tristán was such an amazing guide and definitely made the experience exceptional. This tour was a great was to see the island, and learn about the indigenous peoples the Taínos. If you are looking for a unique experience and want to get away from the touristy spots this is your trip. Tristen is very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions and even offered some recommendations for places to Visit around San Juan. I would recommend this trip to anyone visiting San Juan looking for a mixture of adventure and history. From beginning to end this trip was spectacular. Next time we visit will definitely book Tristán again.
This is an awesome tour. The ceremonial grounds are really cool. A lot of history there. The river part of the tour is very refreshing and the farm is so awesome. The way they live off the grid is amazing. Tristin is an awesome tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the area. I would definitely recommend booking this tour and any other tours offered by tranki tours
This is the best tour to get a glimpse of the past to appreciate the Puerto Rico of today. Tristan, of Tranki Tours, is the best guide to show you the sacred sites of the Taino and explain the history and heritage that was lost and what remains innate in the people today. Travelling throughout the region, I kept discovering a favorite spot in the lush landscape and the subtle sounds of life. Being immersed in the diverse ecosystem was a respite to the senses and was a great escape from the clamor of the city. Tristan's love and passion for the land and people is unmatched as he shares this part of the island with his guests. Take this tour or any tour with Tristan and you will be working with someone who is a professional, flexible and most importantly kind and respectful. I left with a deep appreciation for the people, culture and land of Puerto Rico. Thank you Tristan for the great time, laughs and smiles!
Tristan was amazing, I learned so much on this excursion! The Caguana Ceremonial Indigenous Heritage Center was awesome to visit. It has a lot of Ancestral energy, especially among the plant life. It was very calming and cleansing to be there. Tristan was very knowledgeable about the history of the different plant life and the area as a whole. The views on the drive were also beautiful 😍! I had an awesome time!
Tristan was our guide, and he was able to speak to us about the indigenous individuals, plants, he was patient, answered all of our questions, had a positive attitude and the lunch was wonderful. I would highly recommend Tristan as your guide.
Our tour guide Tristian is knowledgeable in the history of the land. I Love hiking, so I enjoyed hiking along the river, bathing in the sun and going for a swim to cool me down. The best was the farm and enjoying organic meal grown from the beautiful mountain of Puerto Rico.
This is an awesome tour. Tristian is very knowledgeable about the area and is an enthusiastic tour guide. I will definitely be doing other tours with him. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone The first stop was the ceremonial grounds. It was very cool to see all the carvings in the rocks and to know that many many years ago the Taino Indians were there. Then we went to the waterfalls and swam in the nice refreshing water. Our last stop was the finca remedio farm. This place was awesome an off the grid farm with an awesome adobe style dome home.
This was an awesome tour. Very informative and the nature and Taino history aspect of this tour is amazing. Tristian is an awesome tour guide. Very knowledgeable and very friendly. I would highly recommend his tours I will definitely book other tours with him
I couldn't have asked for a better tour guide to share the Indigenous history and culture of Puerto Rico (said in my best Spanish accent) with me. Tristan is knowledgeable and passionate about the land--- to include sacred rivers, forests, and the abundance of natural resources that grows within and on the trees all around. Be prepared to learn, hike, swim, and eat good food. You will use all 5 of your senses on this trip. I was a little sore after but I would do it again in a heart beat. Salud y gracias Tristan!
Tristan was amazing! He has set up trips and experiences that you can not find anywhere else. They are unique and take you to places that you would definitely not see on another tour or even on your own. I also enjoyed the fact that there was no hurry to get to the next stop. He let you take your time to explore. Loved the trip and Tristan is amazing!!! Would highly recommend this tour!!!
The best PR tour! We were picked up very promptly and started the route en route to the park. We stopped for a coffee (which was extraordinary) and arrived at the archaeological site. The park is beautiful and well explained. As a Latina, it is always a pride to know archaeological sites of our ancestors and to see on each occasion the great technological, cultural, and astronomical development that each civilization had, also being so in tune and in respect to the nature of each area. After that we followed a river, where we could take a refreshing bath, surrounded by vegetation, butterflies and flowers. We could see our first coquí of the trip in PR (❤️), and a woodpecker. We continued the journey along some vegetated roads and arrived in Utuado at the farm, where we were greeted with a delicious lunch (with fruit juice and chocolate made in the same place), and shown the sustainable building system used on the farm. Everyone was extraordinarily friendly, friendly, fun, attentive, and this is certainly the best tour we did in our days in PR. Very well recommended!! Thanks to the guides for everything! 🧡
I was as always very happy with my guide tristan. he showed me the real puerto rico the farm tour is a real insider tip for people who like to visit places that are not full of tourists swimming in the river was my highlight everything great as always I was more than satisfied
