El Yunque Rainforest Private Customized Tour From San Juan

Total disappointment… Booked 5 hour tour to start at ten. They showed up ovee an hour kate which took time that we want to se the street with the umbrellas! We barely made our dinner reservations back on ship. Driver drove way slow seems like he was burning our hours. And very much interested in their music. The guide who took us to waterfall hike was very informative and helpful. When we booked tour they said we would see things we didn’t see. Good luck if you choose this company

Dj and Alan were awesome. We did the private el gunnies forest waterfall tour with a family of four, a family of two, and grandparents. Everyone had a fantastic time.

I would have given this 4 stars if it weren’t for our guide losing our photos. So we don’t have photos of my family since he said it would be easier to take from his phone. The first part of the tour was doable; there’s a path that you follow. The second part is much more challenging. Note that the climb up to the cliff to do the jump is very slippery.

I highly recommend this private tour. Communication with our guide Misael started the day before. He picked us up from our VRBO and gave us some good info about what to bring with us (like shoes that can get wet and muddy). Ultimately we took very little with us on the hike to the water, so it would be helpful if the instructions on the website were more specific (I wore my sneakers and would have preferred to wear my water shoes - a picture of a recommended style would be helpful). We had assumed we could bring some items on the hike, but it really isn't practical because of the need to use your hands at times during the hike. It is a beautiful place, some spots are more challenging than other, but I was able to do it all. I'm just over 5 feet tall so some spots were a stretch for me to climb up or down, but Miseal was there to spot me and was always encouraging of my efforts. Be prepared for lots of rock climbing. The water slides are fun, the cliff jump offer 3 heights to pick from, and the rope swing can be funny for the crowd to watch. Check your helmets to be sure they fit well before starting. Mine stayed on ok, but was too loose and sometimes blocked my ability to see ahead of me. Not dangerous, just annoying.

Our tour in El Yunque National Forest was an enjoyable way to experience the rainforest with a bit of adventure mixed in. Our guide Misael was very nice, welcoming and made everyone feel safe and comfortable. He maintained a friendly, relaxed atmosphere throughout the tour. We were a small group of four in our 60's and all in good shape. Taking the private tour was well worth it due to the personalized attention that we received. The first part of the hike wasn’t too strenuous and is manageable for active adults. However, the second part of the hike — leading to the natural slide, cliff jump, and rope swing — is significantly steeper, muddier, and very slippery in spots. So after hiking the first section I chose to sit on the rocks watching folks cliff jump while my three companions continued hiking to the top. It was a 45 minute wait, but sitting in the shade with my feet in the water was extremely enjoyable. It’s important for others (especially older adults) to know that this section requires good balance and comfort navigating uneven terrain.

Yamil was an awesome guide! My entire family enjoyed it. All the water activities were great. Appreciated Yamil having life vests and helmets for safety. Saw many other tours without. Yamil also recommended some great spots for lunch and dinner.

We paid for a private tour, but this was basically a semi-private shuttle to the same location as other tour groups and then a "private" group that walked the same trail as other guides and large tour groups. We expected the guide to point out and explain more points of interest during the hour-long ride and during the hike into the rainforest, and a more unique experience (possibly a less-traveled/quieter trail, different waterfall location(s), etc.) than all the other large tour groups. Our guide, who formerly worked for the tour company, also indicated that the tour company didn't have enough staff for our tour that day so he was called and asked to do "one last job". And he brought two other people with him.

Great day at EL Yunque ... It was my very first visit and it did not disappoint! After a nice hike the fun started with amazing natural waterslides, rock jumps and a rope swing. A great mix of adrenaline and natural beauty. Fantastic day with our guide Miseal ... He was great company and it felt like we were exploring with a friend.

Rainforest was gorgeous with the waterfall so fun. Definitely need a sure foot. Misa - our guide was amazing! Esp when my two girls were very cranky to start. Private was worth it,

Our tour guide was very sweet he was great. The place you start the hike was pretty gross, it looked like a junkyard. Not what we expected for where you'd start a tourist attraction. The hike was moderate but we would have expected to see more having heard from others about rainforest experiences in Jamaica, etc. We saw one small waterfall & swam there which was the highlight! The water was beautiful and it was entertaining watching people do the rope swing.

Our guides were great, friendly and informative. El Yunque was beautiful. The water slide and cliff jumping were exhilarating. Word of caution…. Hold your sunglasses in YOUR hands when you jump off the ledge. No one will care for your sunglasses more than you.

Jonathan was absolutely amazing! We had an incredible experience in the rainforest and he was such a nice, reassuring guide the entire way and was extremely professional and kept us safe. We didn’t think we’d do any of the cliff jumping or rope swinging but he made us feel so comfortable and motivated that we ended up doing all of the fun activities the forest had to offer. Would highly recommend this tour if you’re doing this excursion and definitely recommend April for incredible weather. They also do a great job of telling you exactly what to pack - I recommend soft comfortable shorts and not denim since you keep them on the entire time!

What had a great time on this tour. Short, but challenging hike to the rapids and waterfalls. The waterfall forms a fun slide, and you can jump from three of four higher points. There is even a rope swing to try. We enjoyed this private tour as we could start and end when we wanted, but once at the waterfalls there were quite dozens of other people. It is a popular spot! One piece of advice…the trail and rocks were slick - wouldn’t recommend flip flops or crocs! We work some olds sneakers. Seemed to work well and we didn’t car how muddy they got.

Excellent trip. We had reservation for just the 5 of us and the private tour made all the difference. Our guide Jephet was the best. He took care of our slowest hiker in the group when we hit challenging terrain. The best part was that he took pictures along the way and airdropped them to us at the end. No need to take your phone. This is a way better experience than being in one of the large groups. He was knowledgable and engaging. We would recommend this to anyone. The only caveat is if you wear sneakers they will be wet and stinky. We threw ours out. Have fun.

Our group of 6 was picked up at our hotel by Carlos, our guide for the day for a private tour of the rain forest. We had a great time, Carlos was very attentive & safety conscious. Just a note of caution that it was a pretty strenuous tour hiking on the wet rocks so be careful. Closed toe shoes are required . We got very muddy so don’t wear any good clothes. We were given a helmet & life jacket. This was a great trip &I highly recommend SanJuan Tours.

This was an amazing tour. Our guide Jeffrey was knowledgeable, kind and patient. He made this experience great. He took incredible photos of our family. We loved not being rushed and having individual attention. Don’t hesitate and do the tour !

We did a tour of Old San Juan with Maria, she was very knowledgeable about the Puerto Rico and Od Town, and clearly very proud of her heritage. I was impressed as we were the only ones going and she did the tour anyway. Very nice to have an exclusive tour.

We had an amazing time at the El Yunque rainforest. We arrived in San Juan from a Caribbean cruise. Luis picked us up at the terminal and took us to the rainforest where we enjoyed a short hike and then went to the natural waterfall slides. We spent several hours sliding, jumping from the cliffs and swinging from the ropes into the refreshing cool waters of the rainforest pools. I highly recommend the private tour. Our two boys, 15 and 20, thought this was one of the best experiences of our entire cruise. We all loved it!

Zander was our guide through the rainforest today. It was very muddy but absolutely awesome and we are so happy we did it. He took us through the river, down waterfall slides and convinced me to jump off a cliff into the deep water below. Very memorable trip and I highly recommend it.

Xander was our guide and did a great job. We loved the beauty of the rainforest and all of the adventures. We are well experienced hikers, but if you are not this can be little challenging so wear good shoes and eat your Wheaties. 💪

Japheth was amazing!!!! He took his time with us. We had a very diverse group and he never got impatient. It was my daughter’s 13th birthday and she had a ball. This is a birthday she will never forget and it’s a huge part of it. We felt safe and still had fun! I would book every tour he has if we were staying longer.
