Cave, Waterfall And River Adventure In Charco Azul From San Juan

Outstanding! This was such a unique and wonderful experience. Our guide Airam Marrero picked us up and shared interesting facts about Puerto Rico, its people and what it has to offer. Once we got to our destination the real fun began. We hiked through the forest, observing the flora and fauna, listening to the birds and learning about the river, its currents and how the caves came to be. Fruit bats, millipedes, lizards and butterflies joined us from time to time. Exploring and swimming through the caves, seeing the natural springs and cliff jumping were definitely the highlights! This excursion allowed us to adventure and learn while feeling very safe. After our tour, we enjoyed some local flavor and enjoyed the scenery. Highly recommended to anyone that would like to get out and make great memories! Thanks to Airam, we can add to our list of great memories. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a phenomenal/remarkable excursion. It was very fun, adventurous , and exciting. Our guide Airam made the trip, he gave us a history lesson on Puerto Rico on the way there, once there he was incredibly knowledgeable about the are pointing out vegetation and wild life (then the actual tour started). I give this excursion a 10/10, super fun and adventurous at the same time, I can't say enough about our guide, he truly made the trip special.

Alexis was an awesome, knowledgable guide! The experience was stellar from beginning to end. My 15 year old daughter and 10 year old son both had a blast and the adventure definitely kept me feeling like I was 20 again. Highly recommend.

Incredible experience! 45 minute drive to the river, with a stop for a fresh empanada at a local road side stand. After a short drive into the mountains. we took a quick hike to an 8’ jump into the water, and hiked through the caves and under the waterfalls. Our guide was awesome! Hiked down to another location to jump off higher cliffs (if you want), and more caves- one of the most picturesque places I’ve seen! It felt like being in a movie set in the jungle. We stopped to change clothes and get a guava pastry on the way back- so good! Highly recommend this excursion!! Please note- you must be in good physical shape to hike slippery rock and through waterfalls and ravines.

Sean was THE best guide! It was an absolutely wonderful experience, beautiful and challenging. Sean knew everything about the local nature, plants and animals and he always kept a safe eye on us the entire time. I recommend asking for Sean if possible, he was great!

Adventurous, a little rough terrain. Great tour guide. Wear shoes and clothes you can swim in as well as hike. Everything gets wet.

The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and we really enjoyed every minute of it. Such a beautiful place to explore, and having a local guide who knows the area so well made it that much better. Sarah was a great tour guide! She picked us up at our AirBnB and drove us to the site safely. It was such a nice mix of hiking, swimming through the river and cliff jumping. You’ll be wet the entire time! And the waters stay cool as it’s shaded the entire route. Definitely recommend this activity. It’s unique and fun!

It was such a great time! From the time we were picked up to the being dropped off, we had a wonderful experience! Airam was very attentive and great at teaching the culture of Puerto Rico along with the rain forest plants. He made us feel comfortable in knowing what we were getting into and how to be safe. There was nothing about this experience that felt unsafe. He knows the caves and river so well and it’s obvious he loves to share this info and experience with his guests. It wasn’t crowded for us at all. Just the locals enjoying the river. Don’t miss it! Thank you Airam!

The river, caves and waterfalls are awesome! Saw some bats in the caves. The river was very refreshing and our guide was soooo great! He made sure we were safe literally every step of the way. The terrain is rough and you need to be very sure footed, but it is so worth it. Highly recommended Alexis! Terrific guide!

Amazing experience that went beyond my expectations. Airam was extremely knowledgeable about the area and was able to fill every part of the journey with fascinating facts and friendly conversation. This was one of my favorite experiences I have ever done! My partner and I went on this tour in October 2026 and our guide was Airam. Pick up and communication were very clear and smooth. Airam was very knowledgeable and made sure to point out locations of importance on the drive to the location. It was really amazing getting his local perspective and knowledge. I also really enjoyed learning about Vega Baja and about Puerto Rico as a whole. The excursion to the caves and waterfall was so much fun! Airam did an amazing job explaining about information about the caves and the best way to get to all our locations (where rocks are in the water, where to put your feet, etc). This is an amazing tour, we had an unforgettable time!

Our tour guide was Shmuel and he was excellent. He was very attentive to everyone's level of fitness and was very familiar with the trails. He was very knowledgeable of the native foliage. He made us all feel very safe. It was a great experience with lots of photo opportunities.

We had an absolutely amazing time on the adventure! The caves, the river, and the waterfalls were stunning, but what really made the trip special were our guides. A huge thank you to Eddy and Airam for being so helpful, fun, and keeping everyone safe while we explored.

First. Request Alexis for your tour guide. Second. Wear shoes that you dont care if they get soaked. This is an amazing experience. We went right after a rain, so the water was cloudy. Didn't matter. Was beautiful and a adventure to remember. The jumps and caves and waterfall are totally worth the effort. Alexis ensured we were safe without being overly hovering. Helped when we needed it. (My partner lost her shoe and he went after it more than once) Bring towels, and maybe a change of clothes. Last- a big tip because Alexis will earn it and deserves it.

It was a terrible experience. I was told to arrive at a certain time and then when I arrived no one was here. It was the wrong address. He said it was across the street. And then he told me we were supposed to meet 30 minutes later. On my booking it said 9:30 a.m. and to be here at 9:15 a.m. when I got here and told him I was lost, he said I was supposed to arrive at 9: 45. I told him that I was told a different time and he said no I wasn't. He gaslit me so try to make me believe that the booking didn't say what it said. I had a medical emergency with a panic attack and they would not refund my money. When he arrived I asked him nicely if there was any way I could get Batman money and he tried. We were okay. We shook hands. But he said I had to call viator to get my money back and then I asked if I couldn't get my money back could I still go on the tour and he said no it doesn't work like that. Viator would not give me my money back. It broke my heart to not be able to go on this excursion. And found no sympathy with this company and I will never used it again.

We loved this trip! After doing the 7 waterfalls of damajagua yesterday, we considered canceling since it sounded similar, but it was not at all. It was so much better. Our guides were wonderful and extremely knowledgeable about Puerto Rico and it's history. They brought us to some of the most beautiful places we've ever seen. It was slow paced enough that the walking and climbing were still approachable. This is one of my most favorite excursions we've done.

I am puertorican but live in the USA, and I took this tour because I know that I would not have been able to find a few places on my own and I am so glad that I did!!! My guide, Alexis, was amazing and the pictures and videos that he takes are WOW!!! He was always there to help me when I had balance issues and to help me when I needed a little pull. I am old and don’t have great muscle strength and I felt very safe with him. . I felt very safe and comfortable with Alexis as my guide. This TOUR IS A MUST!!

By far the best excursion of the entire vacation! Sarah was the best, she was very informative and super fun to be around. Showed us around the caves and we were able to explore on our own for a bit. Met some locals, saw bats, she found a turtle, and we even ate a native plant, tasted like a tart apple ha. If I ever return to the island, I will most certainly do this same experience and hope to have Sarah again!

Our guide was AMAZING!! Sean Sean Sean he was absolutely AWESOME!!!!! He literally had the best personality, and SUPER KNOWLEDGEABLE about all the surrounding areas. The adventure itself was awesome. Please be mindful if you are not in decent shape this is not the adventure for you. A lot of walking, terrain slippery! The views breath taking!!! I was worried about the water being cold but it was not! Felt perfect.

This experience was incredible and worth every penny spent. Our tour guide Sean was fun, respectful, and very knowledgeable. He took the “touristy” feel away from this trip and made it something really special, showing us so many beautiful things and also providing us a bit of fascinating information about Puerto Rico’s history in the process. As daunting as some of the pictures from the reviews seem at first glance, Sean was able to set a comfortable pace and allow everybody to safely make the most of each experience. I was able to safely use my phone for a majority of the tour. For the areas that were better not to have your phone on you (swimming in the river), they also use a waterproof GoPro to provide videos and photos of those experiences for you. For those who are also interested in Puerto Rico’s wildlife, I was told that the night tours are especially great for seeing more of nature’s creatures! That will be my next booking. :) Make sure you have water socks or sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. There is some climbing involved and loose river rocks at times so good footwear is really important. There are clean, safe restrooms available at the start/finish of the tour, so a spare change of clothes and a towel are definitely helpful as well.

Me and my daughter had the best guide. We had a blast. I would say it's a must due in Puerto Rico.

You can leave your stuff in the car, I would recommend only wearing a bathing suit or dry fit material to go hiking/swimming. Tennis shoes can work but my friends and I did it in hiking sandals and we were fine. Do not be afraid to jump! It was the most exciting part and made the experience even more surreal.

We had the best half of the tour to ourselves because DIY tourists don't know about the caves and waterfalls portion. Our tour guide made the entire experience interesting from the drive there and walking to and between the attractions. It would have been difficult to find and probably dangerous to do it without a guide.

Amazing experience for everyone from 8 to 60! We travel a lot and often are frustrated by the touristy business associated with cruising. This excursion refreshed our hopes and beliefs that great excursions still exist and should be sought out. From the beginning Alexis was amazing! He picked us up at the port because we had a very tight timeframe. He was a great conversationalist and shared some of his life with us. Our journey into the mountains was easy and stress free. We arrived at a wonderful starting point and headed for the water. Bit of a hike but it was invigorating. We got to the water and it was incredible from the start. First of all NO CROWDS! Highlight for me was the 8 foot jump into the cool pool was intense. The walk to and through the river was pristine and full of nature. Bats were cool and picture opportunities were everywhere. We even got back massage at the waterfall. When we competed our excursion we went to a local pastry shop and had delectable local homemade pastries. Our drive back again filled with great conversation. It was obvious Alexis enjoyed sharing his great outdoors and water activities. We will reach out to him on our next visit.

Amazing once and a life time experience! Swimming through caves, standing under waterfalls, and jumping off a 12ft cliff (if you’d like to) was such a unique time on our trip. Definitely a highlight 🤩 Our local born tour guides (Alex & Airam) were so knowledgeable and fun!

This was an incredible experience. Our guide, Airam, was local to the area that we got to explore. He was literally showing us his "backyard" where he grew up exploring himself. Our kids had a blast, we had a blast, we loved every minute of it. Airam was the perfect guide for this once in a lifetime experience. We are so grateful!

Our cruise line didn't have very good excursions for PR. We booked this and had a fantastic adventure. Our guide picked us up from the port & dropped us off at the port. Very kind of him! We felt very safe and got back to our ship in time. This adventure was super fun and wasn't too difficult. Our guide was very knowledgeable and told us where to place our feet, where to grab, etc. I was told no sunscreen, hats or sunglasses needed. I had my doubts but it's true. I am very fair skin and like to cover up but it was all mostly shaded. If I wore a hat or glasses I would have lost them. Our guide also took fantastic videos and pictures for us.

Sean was an amazing tour guide! From the beginning to the end this was the best excursion I have ever been on, and I i travel quite a bit. We climbed, jumped and explored. Sean was not only encouraging but extremely knowledgeable about the terrain, weather and wildlife of Puerto Rico. He also took us to a great local restaurant. Best food we’d had in PR.
