Our guide Kelly was great. The hike was a bit more strenuous than anticipated. Certain areas of the river are a little rocky so you may get a few bumps and bruises. Overall my group had a good experience.

Amazing experience! I would recommend this to anyone, our tour guide was great & super friendly. This activity does require a lot of strength since you are hiking through the off beaten path and climbing back up a huge rock! This experience was amazing and would do this again when I’m back in PR
Out of anywhere in the world out of all the people in the world you are in this Forrest with your loved ones completely isolated but in tune with nature, The Hike was amazing the body rafting was fun there are rocks no major bumps or bruises for me just little bumps they are part of the experience but this is a once jn a lifetime experience to float through a river in the island in natural water. Me my Wife son and sister had an amazing time and the host are did a great job so did the guide. Only bad reviews are ppl that can’t take bumps or can’t follow directions.. 10/10 experience
My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our day with Mimi! She is a wealth of knowledge regarding the natural history of Puerto Rico and a genuinely happy and fun guide! The water was cold at first! The river, cave and canyon were breathtakingly beautiful! Thank you so much for a great day!
Our body rafting and cave adventures were unfortunately canceled two days before our adventure by TripAdvisor, preventing us from going. We contacted the body rafting and cave tour directly; they were open but fully booked. Unfortunately we had this planned at the end of our trip and was not able to rebook. I will use Expedia in the future and will not use TripAdvisor again.
This was spectacular. Really beautiful experience. Does require a certain level of physical ability. If you balk at taking a few knocks or doing an uphill hike with some scrambling and slippery terrain, maybe not for you. And you will get dirty and completely soaked! But if that doesn't put you off, this is a special experience that is unlike anything else you are likely to have done.
Whole family had a great time! Tour guide Kelly was amazing, activities were fun with lots of laughs. Would have given a five star, but the waiting period to fill out a short waiver took entirely too long. It wasn’t any fault of the tour guide- one group took their time chatting and eating breakfast while the rest of us waited for them. Slightly annoying and inconsiderate. Waiver could’ve been filled out on the drive to cut down on the wait time. Other than that it was honestly the best time. Highly recommend!
Had a great time. Very adventurous hike to the river and back. DO NOT wear cheap shoes to hike you will regret it. The river rafting was great no too fast not too slow. Kelly our guide was great and very informative. The hike ain’t for small kids as it does get slippery and really hot. Water was clear and nice and cool which helped with the temperature. Food and beer was very satisfying at the end. Would do it again.
We had an amazing time with Mimi and Kelly. They were excellent and their warm hospitality was phenomenal. They taught us so much about the forest, showed us plants and brought us in tune with the beautiful Mother Nature. They were patient and kind while teaching how to master using our bodies to raft the river. If you’re thinking of doing this trip just do it! You will not regret it.
This was AMAZING! (Wear good shoes and biker shorts, I will tell you why below). It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Mimi is absolutely fantastic. She had us fascinated and laughing the entire time. Her knowledge of the local flora, fauna, and ecology is immense, and she educated us about the local ecosystem all along the trip. Her assistant Umberto (sp?) was fabulous! Floating the river was incredible. The views were simply amazing, especially the large cave we floated through. The river was great, not too cold at all. Remember, this is a river, with all its beauty and hazards, so be prepared. Be sure to wear good closed-toe shoes that you can hike in and that won't fall apart in the water. Mimi even wore hiking boots. My family all wore regular athletic shoes and that worked great. My daughter wore good athletic leggings under her swim shorts, which helped keep her warm. My wife just wore swim shorts and she was fine. My son and I wore regular swim shorts, and we were fine. I wore a long-sleeve rash guard and I'm glad I did. My advice would also be to wear padded biker shorts if you have them. Obviously, there are rocks in the river, and you are naturally going to bump into and roll over many of them. It was no big deal at all, but we had a few tender spots when we were done. If you are prone to bruising, some padded biker shorts would help a lot. You will be hiking quite a ways down to the river, and then a steep hike/climb back out, so make sure you understand what you are getting into. Nothing that anyone of average physical ability couldn't handle. A great lunch with plenty of cold drinks was provided when we got back to the cottage, which was a great touch. There are open showers on the side of the cottage that you can use for rinsing off, (she even provides shower gel), but I wouldn't plan on a full "shower" since they are wide open for everyone in the tour to see. :) Be sure to bring a change of clothes for after the trip (changing rooms are provided). We will be talking about this trip for years to come. Mimi really was SO hilarious and such a great guide. I gained a much greater appreciation for the beautiful environment of the mountains of Puerto Rico, and Mimi's enthusiasm for environmental preservation definitely rubbed off on my and my family. I highly recommend this tour!
One of a kind experience. Not for the weary, the trek down to the river and back up can be harrowing. The river is full of rocks but the guides take special care to make safety the #1 consideration.
My husband and 23 year old son had a fantastic time. Mimi, the tour organizer was very thorough with the details of the excursion, meeting point, body rafting techniques and safety measures. Kelly, our tour guide, was wonderful! She provided us with all the information to have a safe and enjoyable "ride" down the Tanama River. It is evident that Kelly loves what she does and her love for the outdoors and nature was contagious. It was so refreshing to have a small group, only 5 of us, and not 20+ people on the tour, it made the experience much more personal. Our family loved hanging out with the "Texans". Despite a few tush bruises from the rocks, I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone who is looking for a unique and adventurous experience in Puerto Rico.
We had so much fun on this adventure. Mimi was very communicative and easy to work with. Our guide Kelly was fabulous. With kids or people unable to hike, climb, or move easily in/out of water could possess a challenge. Our group of 4 adults are avg age of 50. Physically fit and active. We loved it. Such a fun and unique way to explore PR
Mimi and Kelly were quite amazing, knowledgeable and friendly. Mimi was good at coordinating, communities clearly and even provided me with an alternative form of transportation as I was solo-travelling and I hadn’t rented a car. Kelly was our tour guide. She took us through the forest, down the stream, to a cave and back up. The location itself was quite scenic and breathtaking. It’s not a well-known destination, I think. I didn’t see anyone else besides our group, it felt even more unique. Kelly explained the local flora and fauna, the history behind how certain species ended up on the island, how certain sections of the island were formed. Safety wise, I and a couple of others who hadn’t prior swimming experience, felt really safe. She guided us through the tricky spots and made it a fun experience rather than a scary ride. Will definitely go back for this tour again.
Absolutely a must do if you enjoy adventure, being away from crowds, and being in water. Mimi was in communication to help us with any questions/concerns we had. We loved our time with Kelly. She was so much fun and knowledgeable guide. We felt very safe with her. The area is breathtaking. So beautiful. It did take a couple of tries to figure out how to body raft but lots of laughs as we learned. It will be helpful if you’re in shape. There is a moderate amount of hiking/climbing. If you struggle with mobility or balance this might not be for you. This is over an hour drive from San Juan far away from people. (One of the things we loved about it) The only thing that would have made this better is being able to body raft for the whole day. Such a fun experience. Can’t wait until we get our photos from the day.
We did this tour as a family. We had to get our own rental car to get to the place but the tour company assisted with the booking and made sure we got their corporate rate. During this tour, you will float down a fairly shallow river. You will hit some rocks. It’s advisable to wear long-sleeved clothes for that reason. This tour is not good for people with back issues. Overall, we enjoyed the tour but it was not easy.
I had an incredible experience right from the beginning. Kelly provided us with insightful knowledge about Puerto Rico's natural beauty and the importance of preserving it. The tour was an absolute blast, and the scenery was breathtaking—I'd gladly do it all over again. Just a tip: remember to wear long sleeves as it can get quite chilly.
Once in a lifetime experience! Kelly was an amazing guide and knew so much about the landscape, geography and history of the island and the river. Definitely recommend taking this journey as long as you're in pretty good shape! The hike down and the body rafting in the clear cool river was pretty easy and a lot of fun, the hike back out is pretty difficult for inexperienced hikers. Don't pass on this experience it was amazing!
This was awesome and the tour guide was great! Would recommend to everyone who goes to visit Puerto Rico
Completely unique experience exploring the rainforest with just a few people! We were so impressed with Mimi's knowledge and experience of the rainforest, navigation through the river and body rafting, and the hike up and down the mountainside to the river. The hike/body rafting tour is on private property in the middle of the rainforest with no cell service so we met at a bakery nearby then followed her the rest of the way up the winding road to the cottage. Be physically fit as you will hike (no hiking sticks needed) and you will be wet for 2/3 of the excursion, with at least 1/3 submerged in ankle deep to waist deep water, depending on if you're traversing through the river bed or laying flat floating. You do get a few bumps against the rock and may come home with a little bruise on your behind, but it's not enough to miss this experience. Wear shoes with good grip and don't try to bring anything (unless you have a Go Pro). Mimi has a Go Pro and will take photos of you, fyi. Lastly, I can't personally thank Mimi enough for getting us a rental car; our rental through Priceline we were told did not exist upon arrival and all rental companies were out of cars due to the holiday weekend! Mimi made a call in the morning and with her magic, they found us a car to rent within 30 minutes. Very happy we didn't miss this tour. Thanks again!
Amazing trip! Great communication with the tour guide prior to the trip. The staff were friendly and informative. Such as unique and fun trip. Would highly recommend and wound do it again.
My husband planned this excursion as one of several 50th birthday surprises for me on our trip to Puerto Rico. Since I'm 50 I was hoping that he didn't plan something that would be too difficult for me to do, physically, but we did great and had an amazing time! If you go on this excursion, follow their instructions about exactly what to wear! We did follow the instructions, but there was a younger couple on the trip with us that did not follow the clothing instructions and just wore shorts and tank tops, and they were miserable! You'll understand why you need to wear the proper clothing once you go, but just trust me! Kelly was our guide, and she was awesome! She was so knowledgeable and friendly. Mimi, the owner, was the one who helped with scheduling, and she met us at a designated spot so we could all caravan together to the nature reserve, which is not on the map. Mimi was so kind and helpful. Lunch was also included, which was really nice, and we were starving after we got back from the hike. It was relaxing and fun hanging out with everyone who went on the hike eating lunch together once we were back at the little house. If you're wanting to experience the beautiful rainforest surrounded by nature in Puerto Rico, this is a great way to do it. So glad we had this experience!
The views were amazing! The rafting was so much fun. The best part of the trip. Kelly and Danny were super funny and friendly. Mimi was amazing and very accommodating. Incredible services. Rate 100/10
Mimi was one of the best tour guides ever. Her passion and knowledge for the rainforest was truly inspiring. This is all on top of the fact that the experience she provided was really fun!
It was a unique experience we had never done before. I would highly recommend, must to do on your vacation in Puerto Rico.
exciting trip, our fisrt time to do body rafting. Mimi is patient and knowledgeable. I feel safe to go with her, very considerate, explain everything clearly.
The guide was knowledgeable and informative. She was friendly and answered all our questions Thank you for the experience
IGreat Arecibo hiking and water floating /caving experience Mimi was great she really took the time to make sure we were prepared and Kelli gave us great info recommended just be aware that it’s steep and moderate hike
This was SO MUCH FUN!!!! Mimi coordinated our entire experience perfectly, with ongoing communication and so much helpful guidance. Juan was our tour guide and he was kind, patient, knowledgeable, and fun!! My guidance to future participants: This is a REAL outdoor adventure, with a real hike through the rainforest and swim down the river. Do not wear fashion sneakers or sandals, and then wonder why the hike is so hard. Do not get into a real rainforest river, and then complain about rocks hitting your butt. Nature is gorgeous and this is not a Disney ride - do yourself and your group a favor, come genuinely prepared to do a real outdoor activity.
Our family of four signed up for this excursion after it was highly recommended by a family member and we had a great day. Mimi and the guides were all friendly, welcoming, and informative. The hike in and out was beautiful. The water level was a bit low and so the float portion of the trip also involved some walking in the water but the guides were always looking out for the best way to navigate. We would highly recommend this for someone looking for a fun and active day.
The forest that we hiked through and the Tanama River that we rafted on were beautiful. The guides were great, but needed to do a better job of wiping water off their camera lens before taking photos and setting the date and time on their cameras before the trip (one was a day off and one was 356 days off, and the times were several hours off). Body rafting was fun, but the water was COLD! Personally, I think they shouldn't offer this activity when the water is under 75 degrees F. Also, be forewarned that there are many low spots where one can easily get stuck or hit your bottom on the rocks. It's been 4 days and I still have a sore bottom. To include "caving" in the title is misleading. This was strictly a body rafting trip that happened to go through a cool river cave. The lunch at the end was delicious, but they messed up and didn't provide a veggie sandwich for my vegetarian daughter. We had to stop and get a lunch for her in Arecibo. I think they should have refunded a portion of our activity fee for that missing lunch. I would recommend this activity in warmer weather and when the river is running high.
We ended up not taking this trip, partially due to pandemic times and most importantly being told last minute that our grand kids were too young. However, Mimi the tour coordinator was very on top of our questions and concerns. It certainly looked like from all the information the send out that they are extremely conscious about their customers. It may be Viator’s fault for not passing on our first questions. But have no fear this operator will let you know - right down to asking if you want mayonnaise on your sandwiches!
This was a memorable experience of a lifetime! Mimi and her crew with Kelly leading our adventure have been incredible hosts! They're very up beat and extremely knowledgeable making us feel welcome and treating us like kings and queens all the time. We were a family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters. We had an amazing time. Started at this local bakery which served great coffee and corn bread. They served us sandwiches with beverages after the whole tour which were delicious. The expedition was an adventure. Going on the river and through the caverns, water falls and surrounded by nature. Kelly's knowledge and passion for this adventure became very evident as we were going deeper into the terrain. We had to be prepared to get some bruises and feel challenged as we were going up the hike. Overall, a high recommend. Thanks Mimi and Kelly
This body rafting tour was one of the most memorable travel experiences ever! Mimi went above and beyond prior to the experience, even helping to book a rental vehicle for us. Gaby, Gian, Surey, and Raquel were excellent guides, and were extremelt helpful to my wife and eight-year-old daughter on the hike throughout the trip. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Puerto Rico!
Amazing experience. Enjoyed it. Everyone was very nice and they made us very comfortable. It was so much fun. Worth the shot.
I highly recommend this excursion to anybody and everybody! Jian Carlos and Juan’s passion and love for our beautiful surroundings came through loud and clear. It was a real pleasure to see and experience their enthusiasm. Their great mood was quite infectious! Furthermore (and, perhaps most importantly), my sister and I never felt like we would die or even get hurt on this quite exhilarating experience under their supervision. At the end, we felt like we learned a lot about the river and it’s surrounding terrain while also enjoying the fun of body rafting! Bravo boys!
It’s rare that I ever leave reviews but wow.. This was the absolute highlight of my boyfriend and I’s week trip to Puerto Rico. Mimi was absolutely heaven sent. She helped us organize our car rental for the week for a very affordable rate you won’t find anywhere else . Words cannot even explain how grateful we were for her service because without her help we wouldn’t have had any transportation for the week we were staying. She also sent the directions to the place where we meet up which were very clear and concise. The experience itself was truly a once in a lifetime. Kelly was our guide and she was an absolute pleasure. She took photos of our entire experience and it was truly wonderful because we were really able to be one with nature not having our phones but still got to capture the experience. I don’t think anything will ever compare to being in such a beautiful forest floating through caves and learning about how it all came to be. It was a beautiful off the beaten path adventure! And quite the adrenaline rush when you’re going down the rapids :) . The included lunch (a deli sandwich of your choice) really hit the spot after the long hikes and body rafting experience as well (definitely drink plenty of water before and light breakfast because it is quite the work out!) I also highly recommend adhering to the dress code because you might hit a few bumps here and there in the water but if your skin is protected (how it should be )it isn’t so bad. I also recommend old sneakers you don’t care about since it is a long hike in the wilderness to get to the water and coming back and you don’t wanna wear shoes you care about because they will get soggy and smelly. Overall, good vibes al around. These folks are 100% dedicated to ensuring you are safe, comfortable and overall have the best time of your life in their hands. I would absolutely recommend booking them. I promise you won’t regret it.
Wow! The views, the people and the experience and all top notch! I will say, where something with a little padding, it can be a little rough on the butt! It was a super awesome experience and I would totally do it again!
The whole trip was amazing and fun. We loved the history lessons and the tours are very knowledgeable and caring. We are definitely coming back next year.
The last part in the water when we do a tandem and we go faster. The day was good but it's not extrem and we wait the people after us.
Highly recommend this to anyone!! Might be a bit challenging/physically demanding in some parts but the tour guides (Juan and Giancarlos) are very patient and will help you complete the experience with ease. Mimi was very helpful with the booking and communication, very sweet also :) The tour is unlike no other, the views are incredible. Lunch is after the tour is completed so recommend eating breakfast/hydrating properly beforehand. I took my friends who are not the most adventurous people and they had a great time!! The tour is also very informational. Pick up is not included in this tour, you will need your own transportation but it is very worth it!! Don't miss out!!
If you are a nature lover then over all the experience was beautiful!! I would definitely do it again!! I recommend everyone to get a good hiking sneaker
We had an excellent guide (Callie), and she was very patient with kids and adults alike! The scenery was gorgeous, and I love adventure, so this fit the bill! I would caution the hike down and up were treacherous and not for those who are cardio-challenged. My only disappointment was that the river was very shallow right now, so there were a lot of rocks to contend with while rafting, and less than clear water for visibility. If I went again, I’d go when the river was deeper. Really unique experience, and PR is so wild and beautiful!
This was one of the best adventures I’ve traveled around the world and every if not most have been so guided that the next step was predated. This was raw and if you want to experience the rain forest, do this one, it will be your best experience. Let’s talk about the guide, she was Amazing!! She took care of us and she also was a history teacher to the ones who didn’t know this history of PR. Thank you so much for this amazing adventure and photos! I will do this again on my next trip back. Victor Enriquez from California!
I was not prepared for this trip! However, I loved it and look back on it very fondly. I visited Puerto Rico (Pre Covid) and booked this trip on a whim. I think its best to have some level of physical fitness as well as regularly active in your normal life to get the most out of this activity. I would highly recommend it for those of you who work out regularly and looking for adventure and thrill. There is a mix of hiking, swimming, climbing, and body floating. The views at the top of the mountain, on the mountain, and going down the mountain were breathtaking. Our host was terrific and while we met at a central location, our host dropped us back at our hotel. The descriptions were pretty accurate and I have several photos and videos from this trip. I would not recommend this for children, people who are not in shape (sorry!), or those who have any injuries.
This was a great experience and I really enjoyed our guide. I was so thrilled to know they took our photos and videos and couldn’t wait to get them a couple days later as promised. Unfortunately, I never received them nor did my friend and all texts and and attempts to contact Mimi were ignored. It’s been 4 months and still nothing. A great excursion became extremely disappointing.
We had a great time. Kelly and Juan were great in leading us in our journey. Kelly was absolutely amazing with our 8 year old making her feel safe and like a little leader the entire trip. She had a blast. You are most certainly “off the beaten path” In this adventure. Make sure you wear good water shoes that you can trek in ...the rocks and mud can be a bit slippery. I also recommend wearing a long sleeve water shirt as some spots with no sun can be a little chilly when wet. Great trip you won’t wanna miss.
I had a great time on this excursion. It’s a nice mix of hiking and swimming down the river, with some caves and waterfalls thrown in. I didn’t find it overly strenuous but you have to be in reasonable shape to hike up and down some steep slopes. Also, definitely wear shoes that you can hike in and that you can wear in the river. Mesh running shoes are ideal as they dry out quickly. Overall, I highly recommend it and the pictures don’t do it justice. Oh, and the fact they take pictures for you and email them to you for free is a nice touch.
I am giving this a high star review because the owner and employees are wonderful. Great service and communication. However!I just would not consider this "body floatable water" at all. I am from Idaho and live for river and water activities I would not do this again. We were told prior to the hirricane Maria it was floatable much more but you are doing mostly walking through the shallow rocky river. The river is beautiful and the cave it goes through but it was very uncomfortable shallow water they expected was floatable and I would disagree for most i preferred to walk through the water. Some ended up with bruises on their bum from floating through because it was shallow rocky water going fairly fast. Most people on our trip said at the end they would not do it again but if the water was higher they would. The hike is steep at the end. The sandwich was great, If you decide to do this id suggest a Camelback for water and good duel hiking river shoes. The ride up was in a clean newer van. I just think its unfortunate it was a great set up and great ownership, they can not change the river but should be noted you will be doing much more walking then floating the river.
Good people. Great spot. Post adventure beers and deep tissue massages. Book it, you won’t be disappointed.
