Diego was awesome! Tour was worth the cost. Great way to taste local foods and learn about the history.

Carola, our guide was very knowledgeable and energetic. She took us to some great restaurants. Every experience was unique and delicious.
The tour guide was absolutely wonderful, very knowledgeable of the history of San Juan. The coffee shop was great especially the quadrants, the meat rice creation was very good, the beer was the best.
There is alot of walking on streets and cobblestone. The food was great along with the history. You may not be hungry after this tour.
It was an exceptional tour. We saw historic and cultural sites and experienced amazing food. Our guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the city, its history and its food. We would recommend this tour to anyone interested in visiting and learning about San Juan.
Our tour guide, Pablo, was very knowledgeable and passionate which made the experience so memorable! The food was also delicious and just enough to feel comfortably full at the end of the tour. Would definitely recommend this tour!!
This was a great tour and a good way to taste authentic puerto Rican food. Way to much food and we were all satisfied at the end of the tour! Also got alot of history about Puerto Rico.
This was an excellent experience. Jacob was very knowledgeable about the history of San Juan, and Puerto Rico, as well. At one of the stops, we each made our own Mofongo, a national dish of Puerto Rico, as well as the "right way" to make a Pina Colada. I learned a lot on this tour, and can definitely recommend it.
Carola is an amazing, knowledgeable guide! She took us to wonderful places we probably would never have found on our own. The first stop was my favorite: I had one of the best cortaditos of my life and a delicious turkey sandwich with guava jam. We spent three lovely hours in great company, learning so much about Puerto Rico’s history and enjoying fantastic food. Thank you, Carola, for making the Flavors of San Juan tour such a memorable experience!
Claudia was simply the best! A great way to get understand some history try out several restaurants and learn a lot about PR culture. We went back to several of the restaurants. Claudia even answered questions via text after the tour. 10/10
We had an awesome time on our food tour in Old San Juan and tasted 6 different foods and authentic Puerto Rican coffee and desserts too! Making our own mofungo from scratch was the highlight and it was delicious. Ariza was an excellent host and kept us entertained the whole way. Definitely book this tour!
This was our fourth walking food tour, and we made sure to schedule it as our first activity before venturing out on our own. We love starting our trips this way because we get to learn what to order, discover local favorites, and find the best restaurants in the area. We usually book group tours, so we’re not sure what happened this time, but we ended up with a private walking food tour—and what a wonderful surprise! Our guide, Carola, was fantastic. If you’re lucky enough to have her as your guide, count your lucky stars! We stopped at five different places: Café Cuatro Sombras, Rellena’o, a paleta vendor (whose name I unfortunately can’t remember), El Patio de Sam, and St. Germain Bistro & Café. The food and coffee were marvelous overall, although El Patio de Sam didn’t impress us as much as the other stops. Since it was just the two of us on a private tour, the conversation flowed naturally. We didn’t have to wait for other guests or for our food, which made the experience feel relaxed and personal. Carola also went above and beyond by showing us where to shop, grab drinks, and explore other local spots. I highly recommend this walking food tour, especially if you get Carola as your guide! It’s a great way to discover local food, get your bearings, and pick up useful recommendations before exploring San Juan on your own.
We had such an amazing time with our tour guide Danny. We got to learn so much hidden history about San Juan and the food stops were top notch. We also got to experience a few cocktails. Strongly recommend that you request Danny as your host. He definitely made our experience a memorable one.
Great combination of different foods!. Plus, it was also an educational experience. Diego was very knowledgeable, friendly, and ensured our group was having a good time. Highly recommend!
Diego was a great guide. Very knowledgeable of the region including food, history, and architectural details. Highly recommend !
Good mix of dishes, history. Good guide.
Food was amazing and flavorful. Our guide Pablo was knowledgeable about seemingly all aspects of Puerto Rican history and the how the food in front of us connected to the history of the island. This tour was informative, insightful, and delicious. HIGHLY recommend if you’re looking to have authentic bites with some relevant historical context!
Andrès was an amazing guide. The tour was fun and full of information about Puerto Rico, delicious food, and beautiful sites. You can tell that Andrès truly cares about what he does.
Leslie-Anne was an amazing guide…great food, & drinks, fantastic tour of Old San Juan and finally a ton of rich history shared by someone born, raised and living in the immediate area!
We enjoy doing food tours in cities where we travel for vacations. This tour is one that will stay in our memory for a long time to come. Pablo was our guide. He has such a broad wealth of knowledge. It was fascinating to hear him explain historical facts about San Jaun, Puerto Rico the island, the cultures that shaped it and how all factors come together to influence the foods. The information was clearly presented and easy to apply in relevance to the foods we were presented to experience. Pablo is easy going and willing to give thoughtful consideration and answers to any PR questions. The pace of the tour is appropriate. There is uneven curbs and walkways as well as some uphill. My active 71 year old mother was able to easily participate. I would say this tour is more relevant for adult crowd. Children would grow bored. Our group was small with a total of 4 participants as we were traveling in off season.
We loved this walking food tour. There was a great variety of stops, with plenty of delicious food and drinks along the way, but what really made the experience memorable was our guide, Pablo. Pablo was fantastic — warm, engaging, and full of stories. We especially enjoyed hearing his mix of cultural insights, personal anecdotes, and food-related history. Spending those few hours with him gave us a much deeper connection to San Juan than we ever would have gotten simply wandering around on our own. Our group ended up being just us and one other couple, which made the experience feel relaxed and personal. It was easy to chat, ask questions, and move through the city together without ever feeling rushed or crowded. The stops were nicely varied, too — from coffee to sit-down restaurants to popsicles — and the “make your own mofongo” portion was such a fun interactive addition. It made the tour feel like more than simply moving from one tasting to the next. By the end, though, it was Pablo who made the experience truly special. San Juan gave us plenty of wonderful memories, and Pablo will always be part of them. We highly recommend this tour.
I really debated over booking this tour due to it being expensive, but I am so glad we did! Claudia is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. The food we had was delicious and I feel that I now have some ideas for places to eat the next time I come to San Juan. I enjoyed hearing about the culture behind the food and how it is made as well. It was definitely time and money well spent!
It was a highlight of our trip! Jesus was incredible, very knowledgeable, engaging, and really made our tour special. The food variety was great. We would highly recommend!
This walking tour exceeded our expectations. It was well thought out and perfectly executed. We did a late afternoon tour that was more than enough food for dinner. The tour combined a bit of San Juan history with an abundant variety of traditional food like a ham, cheese, and guava butter croissant, Tostones, Carne Frita, and a Parcha popsicle. Making Mofongo, the traditional Caribbean dish, was a fun surprise accompanied by a delicious Pina Colada. Diego was a pleasure! He was knowledgeable, friendly, easy going, and accommodating. This was a great experience and way to see San Juan! I Highly recommend this experience!
Jesus was a fantastic tour guide. He moved at a pace that worked for our family. Two of us had been on this tour so we were not sure if we would be stopping at the same places. We were delighted to see that new locations and tastes had been added.
Pablo was the absolute best. My husband and I had a blast learning about both the history of San Juan and the importance of the foods we were trying. It clear that Pablo absolutely loves what does and that made it even more special and even more fun. We’d definitely do this tour again or any other tour he hosts next time we visit.
Amazing and such a great tour with amazing food and knowledgeable and super friendly tour guide. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting.
If you are coming to San Juan, do yourself a huge favor and book a food and history tour with Diego. It was, without a doubt, one of the best tour experiences we’ve ever had! Diego is an incredible guide—engaging, extremely knowledgeable, and deeply passionate about Puerto Rican history and culture. He brought the streets of San Juan to life with brilliant storytelling, weaving together historical facts, local lore, and cultural context in a way that kept us hooked the entire time. And the food? Phenomenal! Every stop was carefully selected, authentic, and delicious. We got to sample an amazing variety of traditional dishes and local flavors that we never would have discovered on our own. Diego made sure everyone was well-fed, comfortable, and having a blast. It felt less like a cookie-cutter tourist excursion and more like exploring the city with a close friend who knows all the best-kept secrets. Do not hesitate—book this tour with Diego!
Very informative, and got to try a couple pretty authentic things, including creating our own mufongo. Very fun
Jesus was an awesome tour guide. Super informative and guided us to all the great places to eat during the trip but also recommendations for after. We left with a full belly and happy heart for sure. Highly recommend this tour
This is a great walking food tour. We truly enjoyed it. Our Guide, Diego, was really good.
Andrés was the best guide and showed us all the best foods of San Juan!!
This tour combines good food and Puerto Rican history which I absolutely loved! Leslie was an extraordinary host and super knowledgeable! This tour already has me planning a trip back
Pablo was one of the best tour guides we have ever had, and we’ve done numerous tours tours around the world. He was a wealth of knowledge about Puerto Rican history, culture, and just all around information. He was passionate, enthusiastic, and patient. The tour included multiple food samples and allowed us to walk through the streets to see some sites. Pablo shared details of the area, of each dish, and of the cultural significance/history along the way. His humor and wit made the experience even more enjoyable. Excellent tour and phenomenal guide. Would highly recommend this tour. You will not be hungry by the end. Thank you, Pablo for an amazing time!
Loved it so much that I’ll definitely be doing it again—but next time, I’m bringing my parents! ❤️🌴🇵🇷
We had the pleasure of having Nahiomy as our “Flavors of San Juan” tour guide. She is a breath of fresh air and a passionate tour guide that knows her city well. From the snippets of historical and cultural influences that she incorporated into the tour and how they influenced the food that we tasted, we left feeling a special connection to San Juan and as stuffed as the mofongo that we made with each of our own personal pilóns! Highly recommend this tour and Nahiomy!!
This was a fantastic tour! Leslie did a wonderful job. Very informative. And the food was delicious! It was a great way to checkout San Juan. Highly recommend
Nahiomy was great ! She was extremely nice and very knowledgeable. Along with the food, she gave us backstories of specific places we visited and it made the food much more special. It seemed very personal since it was just our boyfriend and I which made the food experience a little more better. Our favorite was the ham and cheese croissant with guava butter, we even went back a couple days later to get it again ! So we were really happy she introduced that to us. I’d highly recommend trying this tour, the only thing I’d suggest is to bring comfortable shoes to walk in as you will be walking hilly terrain. Otherwise, if you’re new and want to try authentic food , I’d definitely start here if I were you !
Jesus was a fantastic guide and our family loved every bit of the tour. The history and sampling of some delicious and very unique cuisine was just wonderful, and it was very thoughtfully composed.
WOW! Leslie was a wealth of knowledge and accommodated our food restrictions. Delicious and so informative! Thank you!
Naomi’s food tour was phenomenal. The walking distance was spot‑on — short, easy stretches with breaks in the shade, so you’re never roasting in the sun. The food portions were perfect for a tasting experience. If you’re expecting a buffet, skip this and head to Burger King or McDonald’s. This tour is about learning, not overeating — discovering local dishes, hearing the stories behind them, and understanding the culture that shaped Puerto Rican cuisine. Naomi excels at that. Even when she was delayed a few minutes because of protestors and parking chaos, she messaged ahead of time. Professional. Respectful. On point. Her passion is obvious. Naomi talks about Puerto Rican food and culture with the pride of someone who truly carries the island in her heart. She’s the kind of guide who elevates the whole experience. Extra points for the mofongo atop.
We wanted to tour Old San Juan and what better way than with food! Andres was knowledgeable about the history of Old San Juan and Puerto Rico. The food was varied and delicious! We started with a brunch of Puerto Rican coffee and a ham-and-cheese croissant with guava butter. After that, we revisited our youth and had passionfruit popsicles. The next stop was appetizers where we had Alcapurria and Ceviche. We loved this restaurant so much that we went back again for dinner later in our trip. The fourth stop was dinner of Mofongo de Pollo and Rice and beans. Not only did we eat dinner, we also were able to make our own mofongo, which definitely added to the adventure. It was here that we also had a delicious pina colada. We ended with the fifith stop for dessert of Budin with ice cream. This stop was on a roof top restaurant overlooking the bay. If you are looking for an Old San Juan tour while experiencing authentic Puerto Rican dishes, this is the tour for you!
Alberto was an amazing guide that brought so much excitement and engagement to the tour that everyone appreciated. He was so passionate about his country’s food, culture and history and I could spend an entire day learning from him. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to learn about Old San Juan while having great food. I also liked how the food came from mom and pop restaurants/establishments.
This was a great experience! We learned some history, saw a bit of the city, and had some amazing food....even got to make our own Mofongo! We had a group of 6 and everyone thought it was a favorite for the week!
Dear Team. It wasn’t particularly easy to get in touch with the company because we only had email, but we got there in the end and it worked out fine. Leslie Ann looked after us. We ate some food we wouldn’t ordinarily have gone near, and really enjoyed it. Thanks.
What a great tour and a great way to start our trip to PR. Leslie was energetic, organized and informative from the check-in process and throughout the tour. It was a great mix of tastes, each was great. My daughter and I loved each of the stops and ended the tour pretty full while getting a bit of history along the way. It was great…and my 19yr old daughter has reviewed and co-signs this message.
Jesus was the absolute best! He was extremely knowledgeable regarding history and food in Old San Juan. The food was fantastic and the 3-hour tour was well worth the time and money! Making our own mofongo was also an enriching experience.
This was an awesome experience. Our guide Diego was very kind and knowledgeable. The food was delicious!
Bring your appetite! If you get Pablo, you’re in luck. He’s super knowledgeable and fun to listen to which is wicked important for a three hour tour.
Our guide Diego was great - very knowledgeable about the history of Puerto Rico. The tour was a good sampling of the major cuisines. I was surprised at how good the coffee was on one of our stops. If you have some extra time, this tour is highly recommended to get a good feel of the food, the island’s history, and the area of Old San Juan.
