Arenales River Caving, Waterfall &Tropical Forest Secret Spring

Gabriel was an incredible tour guide, he felt like family from the very beginning. He was very informative regarding both how the days schedule would go and regarding the history of Puerto Rico. Basic fitness is enough to get you through the day. There is some basic rock climbing involved. The guide will lend a hand if needed. We hiked for a few minutes before we reached the river. You have the option to jump into the river (6' - 8') or you can hike around to enter. We then spent a few hours hiking and swimming through the caves at a very comfortable pace. Before leaving the caves there is another optional spot for jumping. I never felt unsafe. Lunch was delicious at a local Puerto Rican restaurant followed by a hike to a crystal clear spring. There were locals at the spring who were very welcoming to us. We had a very active week in Puerto Rico and this tour was the highlight of it.

This was how I spent my first day ever in PR, and I’m so grateful I did! Gabriel was an exceptional guide, taking the time to give us a range of history about the Island, the indigenous people and even a bit of insights into the current political system when a traveler asked. You could tell that he truly does care for and respect nature, which means a lot to me. It really did feel like a local experience, as our group was small (only 5 of us!) and we passed groups of 40+ people, going places they weren’t able to go. We often had spots to ourselves, as our guide seemed to know just when to time it. We saw lots of wildlife and learned about the flora and fauna, even getting the chance to smear clay on our faces! It was my first time jumping from 30+ feet, and it was an incredible experience I will always treasure.

Yamile was absolutely amazing!! Great conversation and so knowledgeable about the island!! She was super sweet and made us feel like one big family all day!! She safely navigated us through the waters and climbing up rocks, it was a good amount of physical exertion but it flew by with how much fun we were having with her!! If you’re in Puerto Rico you HAVE to book this. The caves and all the nature surrounding it was absolutely breathtaking! 100/10 recommend!!!

I went with my friend, and the pick-up was right on time. The drive to the caves was fun, and Yamille shared very interesting insights about Puerto Rico along the way. When we arrived at Cuevas Arenales, she explained the activity very well and made sure we understood everything. My friend was afraid of rivers because of a past experience, but Yamille made her feel comfortable and supported her throughout the experience. With Yamille’s help, my friend was able to overcome her fear and complete the tour. The experience at Cueva Arenales is truly unique. You get to witness a place that has existed for centuries and appreciate its natural beauty. I highly recommend this activity!

YAMILE IS AMAZING!!! So, I went to PR for a week and went completely alone and without any plans. I had no idea what I would do so I had an open mind to whatever happened! I came across this and saw the plenty of reviews so I decided to give it a shot. Signed up although I did so the night before the event, I was worried I wouldn't hear much or get information quickly but minutes after booking she was reaching out to me with a very welcome message. We even had a lengthy phone call where she replied to all my questions and gave me an extreme thorough explanation of how everything would go. Being a solo traveler I was very much put at ease and went in ready for the next morning. She showed up promptly to pick me up and we waited for the others in the tour. It was myself and another family so it wasn't as big of a group but it made for a more intimate experience where she gave us all great attention. The drive isn't crazy long and she makes it engaging all throughout as well as getting to know everyone in the group. She has a thing where she calls you her family, funny thing is that she does take care of you like family. She's funny, VERY sweet and kind while having a great level of energy. you can ABSOLUTELY tell that she actually is passionate about this and it isn't just another job. I do not regret this trip WHATSOEVER, in fact, I would love to bring more people to experience what I did. After the trip she takes us all to a local restaurant where you know that it's local as everyone who is there you can tell is puerto rican and not just a bunch of tourists. She also took photos of everyone all thorough in addition to videos too. At the end she just sends it through airdrop so you also leave with several HUNDRED pics and videos too. OVERALL I give her a full 5 start experience and am so thankful that she made this trip even better than i could have EVER IMAGINED!!!

Yamile was the best tour guide ever 💕 her love of Puerto Rico showed with how much she taught us about the local habitat for every place we saw throughout the tour. She lead us through the forest and river with so much passion, even making sure to leave enough time for good picture opportunities. Even though I am Puerto Rican I lived for 9 years in US and now I'm back in PR and I have not done hikes here in PR. Decided to do this adventure to learn more about my island and it was absolutely amazing! Yamile was my guide she explained really well everything, including information about the places, how to go down the rocks in a safe way, where to to the cliff jumping, etc. Yamile also took all our pictures!! We did hiking, we swam in the river, we did cliff jumping, explored the caves and experienced a waterfall. It was 100% worth it and would love to repeat this adventure and go to more tours with Yamile.

One of the best tours we have done as a family. Fun, beautiful, interesting and perfect for older kids. Caves were amazing and I felt we were able to see a lot more and do more than an average tour. Our guide, Yomile, was wonderful, very knowledgeable and helpful. Pretty rugged terrain and would not recommend for those with mobility limitations. My 11 and 13 yo boys were in heaven jumping off the cliffs and swimming in the caves. Great experience.

Our family of 9 did the Arenales Caves and River Tour with Yamile and we loved it!!! It was the most memorable part of our trip! We enjoyed Yamile being out your guide and taking the time to really explain everything! She was very knowledgeable! Although the tour requires a lot of walking and hiking, Yamile offered alternative stepping guidance to some of our family members! This was definitely worth our money. I look forward to hopefully doing another tour with Yamile in the future.

This is actually the second time i have done this trip with Yamile. She and her tour co does such a wonderful job. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It’s so much fun and so beautiful I just had to go back. She takes care of everything, is always on time, is very knowledgeable, and makes it just a very easy, laid-back, and enjoyable experience. During the middle of the trip, you get to stop for food at this wonderful restaurant that you can get delicious local Puerto Rican food, which has been 10 out of 10 both times now. Such a great day. Started out at 7 am (and I’m glad we went early to beat the crowds we had the whole place to ourselves!) drove about an hour and hiked and swam. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Our guide was so knowledgeable about Puerto Rico and taught us so many things while hiking. She showed us how to go over all the rocks safely and best and safest spots for our kids to jump into the water. Then we had a great lunch where she helped us order and then a short nature walk to a small swimming hole. Then back to San Juan. Easily the best excursion I’ve ever taken. Communication before the tour was also excellent. Do yourself a favor and do this tour!!!

It was a great experience very professionally maintained. She was a great guide, very knowledgeable and a must do if you come to Puerto Rico. It isa well balanced, and well coordinated tour that would maximize your time and enjoy the beauties of the internal caves and waterways of the islands.

The Arenales River Caving tour was one of my favorite experiences during my weeklong visit to Puerto Rico. Gabriel was an excellent guide; he was passionate and enthusiastic about sharing this wonderfully fun experience. My fellow travelers were amazing. The scenery along the river including the caves and waterfalls were beautiful. The water was clear and refreshing. It was a perfect day! I completely enjoyed the trip and would do it again!

This is a MUST if you are in Puerto Rico!!! Yamile is the perfect guide. The caves were amazing and there were opportunities to jump off cliffs into the water. This was an amazing trip! The caves and rocks were so beautiful and other-worldly. Floating down the river was pleasant and jumping off the rocks/cliff side was thrilling! Yamile is the best tour operator. She is so knowledgeable, responsible, and kind. She made everyone feel special and welcome, and our whole group (of several families and me solo) all got along so well. She can answer any question about PR, knows all the best places to explore and take photos, and made sure we were all safe while hiking, telling us exactly where to step and place your hands if things get slippery. Her responsibility towards the environment was showcased as she collected others' roadside trash as we hiked out-- just as a public service to keep PR clean & beautiful. Yamille was such a great guide - so friendly, informative, and fun! She handled all the logistics (including an early start - which is a must to beat the crowds and other tours), showed us some awesome things and some great (optional) jumps! The spring at the end was a nice touch also - and we would have never found that on our own. She picked a great authentic lunch place and explained a lot about Puerto Rican food and culture. This is the best tour I’ve ever had in PR. Yamile took really great care of us. We had hiking, swimming, climbing, water-jumping. We had so much fun with her. And she is a good “paparazzi”, capture so many great moments during the tour. And the restaurant she brought us to was delicious. If anybody ask me for advice in Puerto Rico, this is my first thing to recommend. Words can’t express the experience, you have to do it yourself.

Puerto Rico As a Local offers some of the most amazing excursions we’ve ever experienced! We did the Arenales River Caving adventure, and it was hands down the best excursion we have ever done on any vacation. Yamile, the owner and tour guide, is by far the best guide we’ve ever had. I love supporting a woman-owned business, and it was clear from the moment she picked us up that she takes great pride in what she does. She arrived in a beautiful, comfortable, spotless, newer van, and her English is excellent. She was easy to understand and spent the drive sharing fascinating Puerto Rican history, culture, and local information. One thing that really stood out was how she brought the group together. She encouraged everyone to introduce themselves, share a little about who they were, and learn each other’s names. Within minutes, complete strangers felt like friends, and by the end of the day, it felt like we were one big family. Every detail of this excursion was planned and executed perfectly. This is not an easy tour—it requires a good level of physical fitness. There is a lot of hiking over steep, uneven terrain, climbing over rocks, and navigating through the river. Yamile carefully guided us through every challenging section. She demonstrated exactly how to climb or descend, pointed out where to place each hand and foot, and made sure everyone understood before moving on. There was never any guessing involved, which made the experience much less intimidating. I felt completely safe the entire day because I knew she was watching out for every single person in the group. I highly recommend wearing quality hiking water shoes, such as Keen sandals or shoes designed for rugged water adventures. I also recommend wearing biker shorts and a long-sleeve sun shirt over your swimsuit for added comfort and protection. Another bonus is that Yamile is also an excellent photographer. Although I brought my phone and took plenty of pictures, she captured incredible group photos and action shots from angles that none of us could have gotten ourselves. Cliff jumping is optional. I chose not to do it, but several people in our group did and had a blast. Life jackets are provided, which adds another level of safety and comfort. The excursion includes two different river locations with a lunch stop in between. The food was absolutely delicious. Yamile explained the menu, helped everyone order, and made recommendations. I definitely suggest saving room for dessert—they were fantastic! The restaurant accepts credit cards. I cannot recommend Puerto Rico As a Local highly enough for anyone visiting the San Juan area. Whether you choose this adventure or another one of their tours, you’re in excellent hands. I will absolutely book with Yamile again on my next trip. In fact, I would happily do this Arenales River Caving adventure all over again—it truly was that incredible

Yamile picked us up from an agreed location. Once in her van, we could feel her energy until she dropped us off; great positive energy! She kept us entertained, informed, and made us feel at home as a part of her family. The tour was guided entirely by Yamile. She made sure to give us all the details and guidance we needed to truly enjoy the tour... and boy oh boy she did great to tell you that she knew the exact locations of where to grab and hold yourself when climbing over rocks, she knew how to present an entertaining and safe adventure, and was very confident. I felt really at peace with her and absolutely recommend her. At the end, she took us for lunch and had delicious local food and at a very good price too. Before ending the review, don´t worry if you don´t bring a camera on the tour - she is your personal photographer.

This was an amazing experience. Yamile was a great guide and she had us cracking up the whole time. It was worth going early to avoid the crowds. We were in Puerto Rico for a week and did several different tours with different operators. This one was our favorite, by a mile! Yamile is the best guide I have probably ever had. She is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly enjoys her job. She also served as photographer, including videos, so we could relax and enjoy ourselves fully. Yamile and her company get my highest recommendation. I have already recommended her to several friends and family members who plan to visit the island. We have family on the island, so we will definitely book future tours with Yamile. This tour on the river to visit various caves was interesting and fun. It was also worth every penny. Afterwards, Yamile took us to a great local restaurant where we had exceptional, authentic food. Lastly, she took us on a nature walk to a natural spring. The entire experience was wonderful. Yamile was the most amazing guide. She had us leave early so we were ahead of all the crowds! We went to places other tours were not able to go! She is so knowledgeable! And she is just a personable and lovely person!

Yamile was amazing. She’s the Original when it comes to this tour and you will be glad you are with HER when you cross paths with other groups in the area. She takes you deeper into the caves and lets you jump off High cliffs (if you want to). And you don’t have to wear a helmet all day. 😁

This tour is a "must do"!!!! Don't overthink about it, just do it!! This has been one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life, not just because it was fun the whole time, but it was also challenging, in a good way, and what made it even better was Yamile and her joyful, friendly personality who made you feel like family and safe with her the whole time! You will encounter beautiful scenary all throughout and Yamile, who is a certified tour guide ( that makes a huge difference) does an excellent job educating you about the history and nature of the plants and caves you will see. It was an unforgetable experience and Yamile was nice enough to take pictures and videos of everyone. I am not a strong swimmer but felt safe with the life jacket and really enjoyed the entire trip, so if you're not that good of a swimmer don't let that stop you from doing the tour. I highly recommend this tour with Yamile. You will not regret it!! I know I will definitely go back and do other tours with her in the future.
