My friend and I had such a good time learning Afro Puerto Rican history through dance. I’m pretty shy but the instructors made us feel very comfortable learning the Bomba.
Absolutely a fantastic experience! I loved learning the history and the dance was pretty easy and fun to learn. A great option for anyone who isn’t interested in partner dance and lines to freestyle :) would book again!
It is a really fun experience where you are able to dance like no one is watching. Great for all ages and dance levels, you don’t need any previous dance experience. You’ll experience great music and lots of laughs!
So you say you can’t dance! Let me tell you that this bomba experience was amazing!!! The sunset the beach the vibe was everything!! The instructor the drummer amazing!!!!! The pride of Bomba was evident and I’m so proud to have participated in this incredible event!!! My daughter is so proud that this is part of her history!
Attended the bomba dance class on the beach with my nieces, mother and other family ranging in ages from 8-65 and it was amazing. The instructor made this ancestral African dance accessible and created a powerful experience. Very welcoming and empowering experience.
A beautiful experience, i loved learning about puerto rican’s african ancestry through movement. This was a truly spiritual night and i cannot recommend this enough.
The instructor kept everyone engaged. Her energy is welcoming and positive. She gave us all the encouragement to learn something new. I enjoyed every minute. The atmosphere was euphoric and the best weather.
Wonderful experience for all ages. The location wasn’t too difficult to find. If necessary just ask one of the police officers nearby. I suggest bringing some water bc you do work up a sweat. Over all a great learning experience. I’d definitely do it again.

Great experience so fun and very solo travel friendly! The teachers were encouraging and knowledgeable. If I had to give one critique is that by the time the lesson started it was dark so I wish it started earlier! One of my favorite experiences I’ve done in PR. Highly recommend.

We had such an amazing time doing a Bomba in Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷 My two younger daughters (7 & 8) joined, along with my 76-year-old mother-in-law, and it truly was fun for all ages. The instructor were patient, engaging, and made everyone feel comfortable right away. We learned four basic Bomba rhythms and routines, and it was such a beautiful way to connect with our culture, music, and movement. 💃🏽🥁 Highly recommend this experience for families it was educational, interactive, and so much fun.
Good things: the first instructor was very knowledgeable, there was a live drummer, the instructor took tons of pictures and videos. Not so good: the class started 30 minutes late and ended 30 minutes late, it was Very fast-paced, and our group was very crowded.
We had such a unique and memorable experience at our bomba dance class in Puerto Rico! While the class started a bit later than expected, it was absolutely worth the wait. We learned so much about the history, culture, and meaning behind bomba—the instructors did a great job bringing the music and traditions to life in a way that was both engaging and educational. It wasn’t just a dance class, it felt like a true cultural experience. Being on the beach made it even more special—the setting was beautiful, the energy was amazing, and it created such a fun and relaxed atmosphere for everyone. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking to connect with Puerto Rican culture in a meaningful (and fun!) way.
It was a great experience. I went solo and it was a group of 11, one of whom was a man. I think he felt maybe a little awkward, as a lot of the dancing involves a skirt. I had a fantastic time though! Fair warning, I showed up right on time at 5:30 and the class didn’t start til maybe 6:15. They show you 5 forms/moves of the dance.

While the experience itself was good, it started approximately 30 minutes late and the directions to the site were confusing. We arrived a few minutes late because we had trouble finding the meeting spot. Because of this, we did as the instructions told us and walked the 10 minutes directly to the dance spot where we expected to find the group. Instead we found a salsa class. We walked the 10 minutes back and eventually found other participants who shared that they had been told it would start 30 minutes late and to wait there. By then my daughter was exhausted. We had to leave before the class ended because she was so tired.
This class was so much fun! It was a great workout, too! The skirts were so fun to wear! Definitely recommend!
Everyone was very kind and friendly. I really enjoyed my stay. Joanne and Juan the lead server were fantastic. I have nothing bad to say.
Wasn’t able to fully enjoy the class as it was supposed to start at 5:30 but the salsa was extended-standing waiting for the class to begin

Overflowing with enthusiasm and warmth. They made everyone feel genuinely welcomed and turned learning about another culture into something truly special. An amazing, thoughtfully, and beautifully crafted instructor. I also loved meeting so many fellow solo travelers.
We had a great time and they had skirts for every single dancer! There was a big group, which is always cool bc you can take it easy or jump in. There were three males in the class and the teacher barely acknowledged them or talked about how to style movements without skirts. My husband and son left because everything was focused to the women and they didn’t feel welcomed.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Class oriented and professional. May be given knowledge of the basis of the somba is geared towards women. Not that men aren't welcome .
Whatever you do, don’t book this tour. This tour company is probably a scam. No one showed up to the class and no one has responded to any of my messages including the ones sent by Viator. Do not book a class with this company. It’s a shame because I really wanted to take this class with my mom and we weren’t able to because no one came.

Must try class if you would like to learn about puertorican culture. The view, the teacher, the class were amazing. The teacher is very knowledgeable and will have you dancing bomba in a matter of minutes.

The Bomba dance class was infused with the historical context of the origins of Bomba in Puerto Rico and the evolution of Bomba. This was coupled with a great dance instructor and drummer.
I enjoyed this experience thoroughly. The dance instructor was informative and entertaining. She challenged us a bit. We laughed a lot. This was definitely a class that anyone could enjoy!

Amazing!! Charlotte and Jose are an amazing duo! It was fun and definitely a workout. I would do it again. As soon as we left the class we saw a live dance performance at Plaza Colon with bomba in old San Juan.

A wonderful way to end our trip. Afro Bomba was so much fun for me and my family. The instructor and live drumming were very pleasant. And to top it off class was held with a beautiful sunset.

Don't waste your time, so unorganized. The meeting spot is not where they say, and there is no one there to meet you. I got a refund because I searched for them and stood around for an excuse on why they needed to cancel.

I had a wonderful time learning the various Bomba dances. The petticoat skirts definitely made me confident and feel as though ibeas part of a Bomba dance family. It was such fun and liberating to dance on the beach.
