This was such an amazing experience, highly recommend all trails and waterfalls. The butterflies were so beautiful up close

Many flights of stairs going up and down. Animals are in contained habitats, much like a zoo. Trails can be slippery when wet. It was a pleasant experience, good way to spend an afternoon.
Our visit to La Paz exceeded our expectations...there was more wildlife than I thought there would be and the hike along the 5 waterfalls was gorgeous and great exercise - definitely be ready to get some steps in! Well worth a few hours of our afternoon and a great way to kick-off Costa Rica!
We started our trip off with a visit to the waterfalls and animal sanctuary with lunch. Everything about the experience with top notch, facilities or fantastic. Everything is in good repair. The people were amazingly nice and welcoming. Everything about a word experience was first rate.
This was a great place to see in native animals up close in a beautiful setting. We loved the historic home and waterfall trail as well. We went to La Paz on our last day before heading to the airport and loved getting closer encounters with animals we had only seen from afar on the trip. The gardens were stunning. My husband and I want to take our kids here next time we visit the country.
Our family really enjoyed walking around the grounds/ trails seeing the animals (especially sloths and cats) and the waterfalls. Really great place to see so much in a couple hours. We ate at the buffet and it was just average.
We had a wonderful time and would definitely book again. The staff was amazing and took their time to ensure our safety.
Full fantastic day out -so much to see and so well laid out -many staff -all helpful apart from central cafe where food was buffet style and boring -best cafe was at entrance with a much more relaxed atmosphere and great staff
Loved all of it! Spent 2-3 hours viewing wildlife and beautiful waterfalls! The strawberry pineapple drink was yummy! Prepare to do stairs.
The place itself was so beautiful. They have a variety of animals to see up close and personal. A beautiful view of the rainforest. There are 5 waterfalls. If you like nature then this is for you.
It was amazing! Stonning views and an interesting zoo. Not a lot of people there, and comfortable parking
Our family had a wonderful time at La Paz Waterfall Gardens. The park is beautifully maintained, and the waterfalls are absolutely stunning. We loved walking the trails together and seeing the animals up close, especially the butterflies and wildlife exhibits. Everything felt well organized and educational, which made it enjoyable for both kids and adults. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and refreshing. This was a memorable experience for our family, and we would definitely recommend La Paz Waterfall Gardens to anyone visiting the area. Only downside is getting there is tough with winding roads and going up mountains.
Great place to start holidays in Costa Rica! Its not a zoo, but a very accessible and rewarding way to see a lot of animals in one day. Takes the pressure off to see them all in the wild before you depart. (You probably wont see the cats anyway). Our highlights: - butterflies unexpectedly - Toucans Main concerns: - getting there - its not far from the airport but takes ages due to mountain roads with serious turns and twists - It is expensive, but in my view a lot better value than actually staying there as a hotel guest which I would argue is not necessary. (Its a very nice buffet included in the day entry price).
This was an amazing visit! The interaction with the animals up close was so cool! This was our first activity in CR and certainly recommend it. The staff were amazing, small groups of people, the waterfalls were so big and grand, what a great place!
The grounds were beautiful. It was a great last stop on our trip. It was nice to see any local wildlife the kids were able to see out in the wild. The hike down to the falls was beautiful. Delicious coffee and cheese samples. Would definitely recommend if it’s along your route.
Beautiful rainforest trails, different animals and birds, lovely lakes and mesmerising water falls. Amazing dense forests!! Gardens are very beautiful! A buffet lunch was very healthy!
Such a great place to visit - beautiful property - very tranquil! Very knowledgeable staff in all locations to visit and learn.
The hike was spectacular, however there is no benefit to buying the skip the line. There are no lines so you can buy direct and save a few $.
We already had a rental car, so it made it easy to get there. We went early on a weekday, so traffic was heavy the first half of drive, the park was virtually empty when we arrived, however. The tour is self-guided and self-paced, but there are docents/guides in each area to direct you snd answer questions about the animals. The park has a little bit of everything, and they have done a wonderful job with the walking pathways.
We walked around, saw and pet animals. Frogs, Goats, Bulls, Snakes and other unique animals. Definitely pack a jacket, since its the rainforest its most likely to rain on you. But still worth going, the weather was warm and also there are indoor exhibits.
Awesome. Beautiful grounds. Beautiful up close experience with the animals. Gorgeous waterfalls. Was uncrowded.
I felt sorry for the animals. Some of them have very little space. It is not worth 61$ per person. Inside the restaurants are also expensive.
Our family spent most of the day exploring the waterfall gardens. We have seen many animals in the wild during our tours in Costa Rica but got a lot out of the proximity to the animals, all which have been rescued and no longer able to be released back. The facilities are immaculate, all staff were friendly, helpful, and bilingual. The amazing set of 5 waterfalls were accessed by well-marked paths and exceptionally engineered railings and staircases. The resort is not great for those with limited mobility, but otherwise I would rate this a must-see sight while visiting the country
La Paz Waterfall Gardens is absolutely stunning! The lush rainforest, beautiful waterfalls, and well-maintained trails make it a perfect stop for nature lovers. The animal sanctuary is a great bonus, with rescued wildlife like toucans, jaguars, and monkeys. The experience is both educational and breathtaking. Whether you love hiking, photography, or just soaking in Costa Rica’s natural beauty, this place is a must-visit!
Excellent environment and friendly staff, beautiful birds and animals. A must-visit for anyone seeking tranquility and natural beauty!
Booking via TripAdvisor is fast and user friendly app. We are very happy with the service. Definitely recommend friends to use this app.
Beautiful property. Lots of walking, don’t recommend for people with restricted mobility. There was no line to get in, so not sure if skip the line was worth the $, the only thing we skipped was bufet that was $17 pp. Parking was free.
This is a must do if you visit Costa Rica! Everyone had a wonderful time, and we were able to see all the wildlife up close, not through a spotting scope. The hike was excellent, the animals were amazing, and the waterfalls were breathtaking. Everything was very safe and very well-maintained. The bridges and steps made it a very fun, unique and safe experience.
I would rate this a 3.5 out of 5. It is $60/person, which we felt was pretty steep. the grounds are pretty. The animals appear to be well kept. We went out of our way to see the big cat feeding in the afternoon, but no one was there. Perhaps they cater to the bus tours and only do a public feeding when a group is there. The young caretaker of the frog exhibit was wonderful. He clearly loves his frogs and sharing them with guests. The water falls are beautiful!! And if I didn't live in the Finger Lakes region of New York State where there are many beautiful falls, I would have been more appreciative! The walk took alot out of me and my husband (he is a very active hiker, tennis player). The steps are damp and slippery so we were very careful on the steep stairs throughout the gardens. Our legs were really fatigued after an afternoooon. Enjoyable and an easy way to see alot of native animals.
The La Paz Waterfall Gardens were incredible. Definitely worth visiting. We enjoyed seeing all the different birds, butterflies and animals but the highlight for me was the waterfall trail. Absolutely gorgeous! Park is well maintained. I would visit if again.
Very well done park. A lot of attention to detail on making it a beautiful place to visit. Must do if staying near San Jose. Even the buffet lunch was good, and I'm not usually a fan of park food.
We really enjoyed the La Paz water gardens . The toucans and hummingbird feeding stations next to the restaurant were two of the highlights. The gardens are beautiful and we also really enjoyed the walk down the series of waterfalls - these were particularly impressive because of the amount of rain that had been falling in the days (and hours infact) before. We had lunch on site which was reasonably priced and tasty. Overall we are really pleased we did this visit and highly recommend it - good value for money and the gardens were incredibly beautiful. Be aware that at the gift shop at the end of the waterfall walk many items do not have prices marked so ask before you buy.
Was very good not to crowded little rain for couples minutes and beautiful views. Easy itinerary from San Jose with a rented car.
My review is more about the activity vs the tickets for entrance and parking that we paid for in advance. Regarding the tickets, when we arrived, the parking attendant seemed to be confused about the digital tickets as well as parking. Eventually, we were able to park. The park itself was fantastic and fascinating and well worth the long drive from La Fortuna. It contained various wild life to include a jaguar, wild cats, panthers, snakes, monkeys, sloths, various cockatoos, as well as butterflies, humming birds, frogs, various species of insects. To top it off, we walked to 3 different waterfalls. They had viewing platforms right next to each waterfall. An added bonus was they had 2 restaurants and a shuttle bus to take you back to the main building and parking lot after you finished the hike to the waterfalls and trails.
We booked through Aviator which saved a few bucks. There were only a handful of visitors while we were there. Walking through the toucans was cool as well as the butterflies and hummingbirds. The walk along the falls was amazing and we had each one to ourselves on this day. It is not for anyone with mobility issues for sure. We enjoyed this experience.
Our tour guide, Pablo, excelled on yesterday's waterfall tour. The waterfall tour comes highly recommended. The Poas Volcano Tour proved to be an exciting adventure. John Jiménez's guidance was exceptional. Wear comfortable shoes to ensure a pleasant experience. I had an awesome massage by Maira.
So many beautiful things to see! I highly recommend this experience! It takes several hours (4-5) if you really want to take the time to see just about everything. Highly recommend !
Amazing! All the nature and the closeness with it was incredible. The place is immaculate and the staff super friendly. A great experience and good value for what you see.
Love the toucan house and the interaction with butterflies & hummingbirds! Everything was so beautifully landscaped and clean. We’re didn’t do the waterfall trail because we spent so much time on the animals!
We took a guided tour of this attraction. It is an amazing hike. It will require you to be in shape but you don’t need to be an athlete to take the tour. Plenty of time for picture taking. Highly recommended.
The La Paz waterfalls were amazing! The whole park was beautiful. There was so much to see and do! So glad we went!
Wonderful views of the falls. Recommend the lunch buffet, reasonably priced, $9 for kids, and $14 for adults. Animals looked well cared for. Big cats wake around 3:30 for feeding. Fern trail behind the trout pond is less crowded and offers more falls views. Didn’t see large tourists groups on this trail, which made it more relaxing.
This was a perfect way to end our trip to Costa Rica. La Paz is close to the airport and had something to offer for everyone in our group to enjoy (ages 9- 72!). The buffet lunch was excellent as well.
The gardens are amazing, waterfalls are breathtaking. The buffet lunch is quite tasty. We had four generations of family there, 10 people ranging in age from 6 to 76. Spent about three hours, and did not have time to see the entire park. Will go back again to see the rest of it. The trail to view the waterfalls take some time. Good bit of hiking up and down, but with a little effort, definitely doable for most people.
This place is amazing! The drive slowed us down a bit because of its steep turns, uphills and downhills plus the roads were little wet. When we arrived we paid the a day ticket $58 plus all you can eat buffet of $17 per person. We got to experience over 5 waterfalls, saw butterflies, monkeys, and wild animals. There is plenty of stairs and extremely slippery. I would recommend to wear comfortable clothing and hiking shoes if possible. There are some areas (most) of stairs with no hand rail. Watch your step. A lot of uphill stairs and downhills. We took a camel back (with water) which was a great idea. We did not have a rain coat on us so we actually got wet because it rained. The waterfalls will also get you a little wet with the hard breeze so wear light clothing. Lunch: was good. Chicken and bbq pork. The bbq was somewhat blend and the meat had not too much seasoning. Pesto Pasta was ok but the rice and beans tasted delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked. I had pineapple agua which was perfect not too sugary. Then after lunch it got cold so I had a coffee topped with the cream (leche) and some brown sugar. Great flavor. Just perfect. Overall, highly recommended
Amazing experience with all the wildlife, waterfalls and beautiful landscape. Paths were very nicely laid out between attractions. Staff were super friendly too.
The gardens were beautiful and the waterfalls amazing. We were a little disappointed that the animals could not roam more freely though. The habitats are just what you would see in a zoo.
What a wonderful experience. Just breathtaking and fascinating. Truly one of the most amazing days I ever had. This is why I came to Costa Rica
Love the preserve, waterfalls and hike! You can see so much in such a small amount of time and the waterfalls are really majestic!
Do not miss this, if you come to Costa Rica. The most amazing waterfalls, beautiful but lots of steps down and up.
